My parents’ dog Kinsey likes to sleep just like that (not on the couch but on the floor) in that weird twisted position, flat on her back but with her chest on its side. I don’t understand how that can be comfy.
If I did that I probably wouldn’t be able to walk for a week. They must have spines of jelly.
But I too am deeply indignant at the lack of privacy tailio!
Sight hounds do that. It’s called the dead-cockroach position. I don’t know why they do that though, but I’ve heard it allows them to cool off faster.
When my cat does this we call it “cat parts” — I. E., take these parts and reassemble your cat.

Peeps, I think that is a girl, look how far down her ahem, privacy, is. Is it a little girl greyhound? She is very long-limbed, her squirrel toes are just the right shape and stubbular-iness, and observe the very sharp angular haunch bones that come together in a narrow V. My little guy sleeps this way as well, privacy be darned!

That ahhhh moment. Stretched out on comfy couch, nothing to do but look cute (same job, diffferent day), play sock nearby. It is a dog’s life….bliss.

(Why am I so sure, you say??? Cuz I’ve watched three successive Labs from puppyhood on thru old age, taking their naps in similar positions: i.e. the one at this moment, flat on his back wif all four paws in the air, with a honk-shu to rival my husband’s snoring…..!!!! )
