Are You My Mother?

Yes. Yes, I am.

I knew that, mama, I was just checking.

You are not a hen. You are not a dog. You are not a boat. You are not a snort. You are Ant!

I’m dying over here! to me, that’s proof animals feel emotions just as deeply as we do. if that’s not the look of love, I don’t know what is…. :)

    • You only have to live thru a sheep losing her new baby lamb to know they feel emotions too.

    • Teresa says:

Or one of the cows has died and the herd will sniff and moo mournfully over the spot. My mom saw that cow’s heifer (female) calf going up behind the other cows when they were drinking water from the water trough and snitching milk from the other mothers. That calf did that until one of the mother cows adopted her and raised her along with her own calf :) By the time that calf and the bull (male) calf of that cow were weaned, both were almost as big as their mother.

      • Teresa says:

We also had a cow who lost her calf and adopted another cow’s calf even though the other cow was still alive. That bull calf had two mother feeding him and, when we sold him, he was 600 pounds. That was 200 pounds more than the other calves we sold at the time.

Hands mama cat a pair of bifocals for those precious up close moments.

    • Mary (the first) says:

Funny.. my years of having babies and years of needing bifocals have not overlapped.. did yours?

      • SlaveToCat says:

Not when I had little ones. But now that my eyes have past a certain age bifocals, magnifying glass, and an extra light source are kept handy. The picture just looked like mama had to get really close to see the baby. Just like my mom did when she started losing her eye sight.
