Polar Cub Crawl

Prepare for some searingly sweet baby polar bear wriggling cuteness from the  Toronto Zoo‘s newest cub.

He’s been named Hudson and in this video he’s all, “Look Ma, I’m a sloth!”

We have Callie H. to thank for this submission and for showing us polar bear cubs don’t walk until around 4 months. Who knew?!

Nothing is safe from the deadly Polar Bear menace as it slithers silently over the frozen tundra, flicking its pink tongue to taste the air for the scent of its prey. Many have dropped their guard at its innocent appearance. None have lived to tell the tale. Muahahahahahahah!

  5. Sam says:

How Soon do they start drinking Coke?

  6. Angel says:

Moderation already? Let’s see what’s in the ‘fridge.

I wonder why the polar pups mom rejected him?? Knut from Germany died very young. I still wonder why?

    • Meaghan says:

Knut turned out to have some kind of viral infection in his brain.

      • Fird Birfle says:

wow fascinating info Meaghan. Thankx for the science & stuff.

Jist curious (occupational hazarde des “librariologists”…) where was this listed?

    • victoreia says:

Ain’tcha glad this wasn’t posted on a week day? I’d never be able to get anything done after seeing this if I’d looked at it tomorrow!

  18. Shari says:

Oh, dear, I have to be Miss Language Person. This isn’t seeringly sweet, it’s searingly sweet. Seeringly implies this baby bearling is a seer. He might be, but that’s not the point of the video. Searingly means “he’s so stinking cute, his image will be seared onto your retinas.”

Sorry, but even when I’m in the throes of cuteness induced “ooooh, lookit that!”, I need proper grammar.

    • Fird Birfle says:

ALSO is everybody enjoying pyrit’s clevaire bit about “pub crawl” = “cub crawl”?
Or am I just the only one bothering with pointing that out in the midst of all the fluffy white goodness?

      • mie says:

Oh I totally read the title a couple of times “Polar Pub Crawl”. Would explain the non-walkiness of the cub. Oh they start at such a young age nowadays…
Also, howcome nobody has mentioned the MINI STRAYCHE AND TOE TWITCH @ 0:33

    • pyrit says:

Ack. Error corrected. I just used the double ee for extra emphasis, yeah.

  19. calcal says:

Those are the fuzziest ‘tocks I’ve eva seen!

  20. sugitomo says:

That’s the cutest and most splayed crawling I’ve ever seen.

  21. Karen says:

Words cannot express how much I want to cuddle him!

  22. kodalai says:

I suppose it makes sense that they’d crawl around for the first few weeks… on that slippery ice, easier than walking!

  23. emmberrann says:

I can’t help thinking that this little morselet will weigh 600(?) 1000 (?) pounds and have inches-long teeth and claws. But for the moment, wouldn’t I love to cuddle and snorgle and play with this bebeh. Un-bear-ably anerables.

    • Sasha's Mum says:

But even at 600-1000 lbs they’re still completely anerables. Just ask Rick Mercer (aka the guy with the best job in Canada).

  24. tommygirl says:

I want to smoosh my face in that fur!!

  25. @juicy_luc says:

That is the cutest litle thing i have ever seen! The polar bears gonna explode of cuteness Awh! It’s like a bomb if cuteness has fallen on it! I want to squidge it!!!!!!!
