It’s Over Between Us, Daphne

I shan’t deceive you any longer, my dearest; I’m afraid you’ve been living a lie. I’m a rat, Daphne. There, I’ve said it. I’m a rat and that’s all I’ll ever be. Oh, what a cad you must think me, leading you along this twisting, mazelike primrose path of deception.

A perfect example of gratuitous whiskers.

  2. Omeomy says:

    That prosh gloved paw!

  3. Raymond says:

But I always knew, dear. And I — I am . . . a rodent-lover. You mustn’t leave me — not when we’ve found the strength to be our true selves at last.

    • cellarmouse says:

well done, raymond…and don’t you wonder, as i do, if dear nomtom is properly rewarded for his brilliance?…

      • Raymond says:

Thank you, cellarmouse. Let’s ask the Nobel committee to add to its list of awards: Wit in the Service of Humanity (& Animality). How else could NTMTOM be properly rewarded for his brilliance?

    Well, nobody’s perfect!

  5. Victoria, mom to 5 rats says:

Totally made my day. The world needs more cute rat pictures. There are never enough ratskies on C.O.

    • Cambridge Rat Mom says:

Victoria, pleased to meet you. I’m living with rats #27 and #28 (Sinjin and Tertius) right now. There are never enough ratties around. Sinjin is a rex dumbo and as he gets older, he is losing all his hair. Poor dear!

      • Victoria, mom to 5 rats says:

Pleased to meet you too! I’m currently living with rats #22, #23, #25, #26 and #27 (Jelly Belly, Baby Ruth, Johnny Stew, Eddie Rebel and Dawg).

Poor Sinjin! I’ve never had a rex. My Jelly is 23 months old and his once black fur is going all rusty, starting on his bum. So between the fading coat and the big dumbo ears he looks all kinds of goofy!

        • Cambridge Rat Mom says:

I’ve had several rexies and they all lose their hair as they get older. Give all your ratties hugs and kisses from me. Rats Rule!

    • Mabel says:

I agree Victoria! I am currently owned by 4 handsome boy rats.

      • ratchic says:

…is glad to admit to being a rat kisser, too. A rat petter, hugger, and even a ratty playground, because letting them crawl all over me is awesome fun!

Hey, did you just give away the plot of the next episode of Downton Abbey?!???

    • Gigi says:

I would not put it pass Lady Mary to bring home a rat. Acutally I think she may have already done so…Sir Richard!

      • Marianne says:

Oooh, yes, I agree, re: Sir Richard. I knew he was pond scum as soon as I saw him!
But wasn’t it Lady Mary’s aunt who introduced them? Good thing it’s repeating tonight, so I can get the facts straight.

My new favorite NTMTOM quote: “…this twisting, mazelike primrose path of deception.” Ah, if I’d ever been dumped in such a poetic fashion, it would have been easier to take.

Adorable little rattie! I wouldn’t let this little one go, that’s for sure.

  16. Blue Footed Booby says:

Hehehe, he looks like he’s smiling. What a charming little fellow. :3

I LOVE rat-rats. I have three of my own at present, and only wish more people would realize what charming little animals they are. There can never be enough cute rat pictures on CO.

  20. sar320 says:

I thought that little spot on the picture (near the whiskers) was a spot on my screen, so I gently tried to brush it off. Now my boyfriend is accusing me of petting the screen. I’m not that bad! I would love to pet this little cutie though. Perfect whiskers! :)
