How does that yogi bear it?

  2. nichole says:

    1) that woman’s posture is amazing
    2) that cat is awesome
    = this is awesome

  3. Dave says:

I love how the cat isn’t coming down even when she stands straight up. Dedicated yoga cat!

    • mie says:

And I love how the yogi does not force the cat to jump down but instead limits her movement just enough that the cat can stay there – compare the upward stretch from the beginning to what she does in the end.

  4. wuyizidi says:

Okay, at 1:58, how could the cat possibly hang on from that position.

  5. gryt says:

    Woooooooooooow.

  6. cellarmouse says:

that yogi has very catlike moves herself….she’s good…

  7. mirmium says:

bahaha, this reminds me of when I was little and would find my dad praying (muslim-style), I’d jump on for the free piggy-back ride. Somehow, he had the same patience as this lady.

  8. kris says:

strayching, that’s what kittehs are good at.

  9. occula says:

    What a great workout buddy!

  10. Gigi says:

    8O

  11. victoreia says:

ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!1!!!!!!11!! You can tell this is a normal routine for this two. (Although, when that kitteh gets bigger, then the real amusement/amazement begins!)

  12. jakepets says:

This reminds me of the woman who manages to brush her teeth while a cat is sitting on her towel-turbanned head. Gotta love the kittacrobats!

  13. debg says:

Kitties are the best. And NOMTOM, you rock too–beautiful set-up here!

  14. alwayscataddict says:

I don’t really know what impresses me more. The fact that that cat stays on her back no matter what or that she can do a full chattaranga with the cat on her back. I can’t do one WITHOUT the extra weight!

    • wuyizidi says:

I don’t know if anyone else had this experience: my cat is ~14 ibs. When she lies down on my chest and stomach, it feel like a really heavy weight. But when she climbs onto my back when I’m lying on my stomach, she feels light as a feather.

    • Kar says:

I love how a cat can look at a yogi or acrobat and just sniff at them like,

You can lick your back and twist like a double pretzel. Doesn’t everybody?

      • Espe says:

Haha, good one, Kar! Yea, I think we can all agree that cats have the ‘supreme flexibility’ award in the bag! :D

  15. Felic says:

If this cat has claws it is awfully gentle with it’s mommy…or she’s amazingly focused.

  16. Yaya says:

Ha Ha! I found myself laughing out loud ( my dog looked in from the other room ), then said ALOUD, “look out kitty, she’s standing up!”

    I needn’t have worried.

Now, I could support an entire litter of kitties on MY backside, but how did that kitty stay there?

  17. jen says:

OMG, ROFL! that is sooooo adorable! awesome! hilarious!

    become one with the floofiness.

  18. tracylee says:

    Namast-hey kittykitty!

  19. Jillersons says:

Man, cats will try to ruin anything, won’t they? It’s all like, “Oh, you’re trying to meditate? Trying to find your center? I’m afraid we can’t have that.”

  20. junkshop_coyote says:

Legend has it a cat invented yoga… apparently they still teach it.

    • Moi, Actually says:

Loved that comment. Is it odd how many of the commentators here practice yoga? Or is it just me?
Perhaps there’s a deep cat + yoga connection that NTMTOM could investigae for his next doctorate in cathropology.

    • junbug20 says:

funny comment, looks like stretch time to kitty, must join in.

  21. SlaveToCat says:

Sorry kitty but that used camel salesman sold you a lemon of a camel to ride. They installed the two humps on the wrong side. How do you expect to cross the desert without your perch properly positioned between the humps?

  22. JLAmusings says:

Ha! Very impressive from both the lady & the cat! Most of my cats have tried to help me when I do pilates except they want to sit under me so I have be careful not to kick/lay on them. Cute but annoying.

  23. Fleurdamour says:

It’s like a cross between a trained animal circus act, and a theme park ride for kitty.

  24. Katie says:

The cat perching on her butt will never not be funny.

  25. Mad =^..^= says:

I get the feeling this is a fairly regular occurrence. No doubt about it – cats do know where the energy is good!

  26. gloomygrrl says:

One of my bunnies likes to flop out right underneath me when I do yoga. It happens every single time. You’d think he’d figure out that it wasn’t a good place to take a nap after the first time!

    • Emmylee says:

Gloomy my dog does the same thing, although I personally think she likes to show off when I’m in downward dog, because she comes up right next to me does it and looks at me like…ok that was easy, what’s next.

  27. hyura says:

the russians are at it again with their quirky, adorable cats!

  28. Lucy's Mommeh says:

Sww this on Dlisted first..THEN I came here..

  29. Zeki says:

My kitty Zuzu loves to harass me while I’m doing yoga, too. Thankfully, he mostly just attacks my legs, rubs his tail all over my face, and lays down on his back right in my way/tries to get stepped on/etc.

I’m jealous that even though this woman’s cat is much more proactive in disrupting her yoga, her sun salutations STILL totally outshine mine. Way to make me insecure, random Russian lady.

  30. The Original Jane says:

The best part is how the kitty can stay on her rear when she stands up at the end. Her rear isn’t big at all. How is the cat staying on? I think they ended the video there because he finally jumped/slid off.

  31. Decca says:

I look exactly like that when I do yoga. Well, maybe not exactly like that. Well, maybe not much like that. Um…Ok….maybe not at all. But I do have a cat.

  32. Theresa says:

Dante always joins me on the yoga mat; somebody needs to tell him that yoga is not a competitive sport. He always humiliates me, despite his being quite roly-poly. :P

    • Emmylee says:

i totally sympathize Theresa. My dog does the same thing. *sigh* of course then I become competitive with her, but…she always wins. ;)

  33. tblue says:

My cats always jump on my back whenever I bend over to pick something up–or for any reason at all. But one of my past kitties not only jumped on my back whenever I bent over–he also liked to nip my butt to let me know he was there. Not hard, mind you–just playfully. It became our game–I would crawl toward him on the floor, stalking him, and he would leap on my back and nip my behind.

  34. CathyDee says:

Um. Ow. Even without the cat on one’s back!

I think this lady might be part feline herself. Can she also fully insert herself into a box that looks like it’s too small by about a factor of 3?

  35. My doglets try to ‘help me’ when I’m practicing yoga…..which generally dissolves into a dog pile/puppy play session. :)

Oh and crunches? Yeah, the doglets think it’s a good idea to stand on my tummy while I’m crunching. /sigh

    • FancyNancy says:

My little pom totally thinks yoga time is playtime too…
Unfortunately she gave me a black eye thinking it was fun to run back and forth underneath me while I was doing the cat & cow rigmarole. Bam… tiny dog forehead right in eye…. who knew yoga could be so dangerous!

  36. Jude says:

Bad kitty mom! She should wear a t-shirt that doesn’t slide up and down so much! (o:

    Looooove 1:42!

  37. I iz in giggle fits here! ;)

  38. I swear calicos are engrained with this type of persistance. This cat looks eerily like my turkish angora calico. In my coffee-less mind, I could have swore she bounced a plane to far off eastern reaches and is back to rub it and her tail in my face. She hangs all over my arm life that cat hugs the ‘behind’ of yoga-lady. I can basically write a novel as long as War and Peace and she would still have her head and arm wrapped around my mouse-ward arm.

Such persistance is admirable… if down right catty.

  39. Ketira says:

This is Rose is Rose in Real Life – or that was my thought when I was watching this! In the comic, Peekaboo (the family’s kitten) often climbs on Rose when she’s doing her Yoga exercises……

But I agree with the others. That’s one dedicated cat!

  40. Nof says:

!!! My little calico insane girl cat does this exact same thing! I can tell you from experience that there are a few claws, but nothing painful. She just shifts her weight as I move thru the motions. But when I raise back up she climbs onto my shoulders, my back side doesn’t have enough “shelf” for her to remain there. =) She usually decides to jump on at the same pose, too. I take two cats doing the same thing as definative proof cats did in fact, invent yoga and are still trying to tell us how to do it right today.

  41. elishab. says:

Now this is an excerise program I could sign up for…. even have my own cat that will be happy to sit on my shoulders, not sure about the rest….

  42. elishab. says:

    Exercise…..sorry

  43. Jon says:

I like the cheesy massage parlor new age music.

  44. Rosemary says:

I love the vido of the calico cat doing yoga. I am 68 and do yoga, but can’t imagine trying to do it with my calico hanging on me. All my calico does when I drag out my yoga mat is chew the ends.

  45. unci says:

The video didn’t show the scratches on her back in close up …
(Or this cat doesn’t have the “claws out to hold” reflex that mine has!)

  46. Johanna says:

    1:42. That’s all.

  47. Dah Mouse says:

Two of my 4 cats always try & “help” me do my stretching exercises & cardio workouts! Ever accidently “drop kick” your senior-citizen cat across the room??? Good way to give yourself an excuse to NOT do cardio–too busy apologizing to one heckuva IN-dig-NaNT pussums!!!
PS: I don’ do no yoga–look like a spastic kangaroo–now I will NEVAH-EVAH try it!!! She one limber girl w/that pussums on her back!!! But “Mahareshi Peekaboo” does a grande job, AKA “Rose is a Rose”.

  48. Beth says:

Floofy tail makes for good kitteh balance. Namaste.

  49. SarahMonster says:

Sheesh I thought my cats were bad… I have to put them away when I practice but they just get underfoot =P

  50. junbug20 says:

Just enough butt room there, when standing, huh kitty? LTK!
    (love the kitties!)

  51. Carolyn says:

    That was great!

  52. Bada says:

Why my cats won’t do it???

  53. of course, ends right before the cat falls off

  54. CiroccoK says:

My cats like to come sit on my mat when I practice. Oh! And they have deeeeestroyed my yoga blocks. i just have to throw them out. They love to try to eat the plastic…

    Methinks this pair is practiced.

  55. susanrn92 says:

Awww, it says the video has been removed by the user, I can’t see it.

  56. Yashi says:

:< So sad.. I wanted to see it but now its gooooone -falls to knese-

  57. Ed says:

…and now the YouTube poster has taken the video down…? That’s no fun.

  58. anonymouse says:

Here’s another version of it.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GvsVTVTIR6w

  59. Cindy says:

    :(
