Not to be a major bummer, but I started worrying about the day Maru finally hits those nine lives. I’m going to be worried about his keeper. Hopefully this won’t be for a long, long time though!
In the meantime this is pure awesomeness! Pure Maru-ness.
Well, my 3 kitties are young, 7 and 19 month… But I have been thinking about the day they will leave since they moved in. I believe I’d run to the next breeder or animal shelter and take some new babies. It’s not like they would be easy to replace, but I could not stand to look at the empty pillows and food bowls. But I don’t know… They are my first cats, I never lost any… I really fear that day.
Love will give you the strength you need. And they can never be replaced, but there are many more kittehs out there waiting for your love. I speak from experience…

My 11-year old cat is getting slow, thin, and breathing hard… I fear heart disease. Will take her to the vet, but am fearful of what I will hear. Can’t imagine not having her around, patiently waiting for me to sit somehwere so she can claim my lap.
Enjoy every moment you have. I just had to put my three-year-old little boy, Jack, to sleep because he had a heart problem I didn’t know about, and he got really sick really quickly. It was heartbreaking. His sister and I thought we had many more years left with him. In some ways, Maru sort of reminds me of him…
I’m so sorry for your loss too. Our little Guinney Bear died suddenly of cardiomyopathy last February, and she was only 2 years old. We were heartbroken, even with our other 3 kitties. We managed to wait until several months to start looking for another kitten–not to replace her, but to fill her void. A new little face in the mix helped us and our other kitties to heal. This is actually a seriously artistic video–Maru’s human so clearly adores her sweet boy. I love love love this video! The TOEBEANS! The kneading. Such amazing shots.
The owner (or roommate) is never shown in the video, never talks about herself, and since the entire blog is Japanese, personal pronouns are rarely used. But given the mode of Japanese that is being used, chances are very high that she’s a she. It would be extremely unusual for a male to use such a mode of Japanese.
Maru wouldn’t be half the cat he is, were it not for his human.From early on always playing with him, trying out new playthings, thus stimulating him, and then her amazing photografic skills…….. I love Maru to bits, but I love Mugumogu too !
His profile pic at the beginning reminded me of that pen and ink drawing of Alfred Hitchcock. His straight-on shot reminded me of the black and white kitty kat klock with the ticking tail. And at the end I, for some reason, desperately wanted to go play a game of marbles.
Maru is totally a plus sized kitty supermodel. Those huge pure white cotton-y paws, that elegant snub nose, the amber eyes. And OMG the best buiscit maker ever!
Did this video seem… umm.. a little fetishy to anyone else? Not saying I didn’t love it, but especially the tail scene. Just seemed a little like kitty softcore.
