This Ain’t No Kiddie Coaster

There’s a terrifying new thrill at Mousieland Theme Park this fall: Marmie’s Revenge! Ten tons of twisting, twirling tubular track, with an added surprise — a ravenous, razor-fanged, mouse-eating marmie!

And just when you think you’ve escaped, brace yourself for… the Loop of Doom!

Stephanie K. writes: “These pictures are of my family’s cat Sassy amidst my younger brother’s K’NEX structures.” And here’s a full view, so we can appreciate how cool Stephanie’s brother is:

one sophisticated kitteh… is he an engineer?

  2. Berg says:

Obviously it’s a kitteh coaster! Kudos to Stephanie’s brother.

Sassy is definitely not amused in the second photo, but he or she is still adorable.

  3. J. says:

    It’s the roller-catster of DOOM!

  4. Theresa says:

“You must be this tall to demolish this ride.”

  5. ceejoe says:

    Wow! for Stephanie’s brother.
And a big hug to Sassy – I do love the orange & white kittehs!
    And also – lovely floor!

I’d take the kid–supercool engineer in training.

    First Pic: Mine!
    Second Pic: Mine!
Third Pic: Long lens or not, it’s still mine. Now go away.

Now with added xtra sunspot for purrrfect napping.

  12. I would totally go on that ride just to see a big cute kitty!

  13. Vigs says:

Now, I thought marnies had the circular patterns on the side and the kitty pic’d here is an orange tabby. So if this cat above *is* a marmie, then I don’t know what I have! Cute Overload, I need your help!

‘Marmie’ is short for ‘marmalade’, as in orange marmalade with shreds of peel (as the GEICO lizard says ‘Ummm, tasty!’ on toasted muffin…). As I understand it, any orange tabby (which kinda looks like orange marmalade with bits of peel in it if you squint at it right…) is a ‘marmie’.

Now if you want the difference between a ‘classic tabby’ (swirls) and a ‘mackerel tabby’ (stripes) or a ‘ticked tabby’ (hair is banded with colors) or a ‘spotted tabby’ (spots – may not be actual separate pattern, but stripes that don’t join), that’s a whole ‘nother story…

Don’t forget your rare and oh-so-tasty Clouded Marmies.
        Er… orange clouded tabbies? Really?

      • Noelegy says:

Heh. I was in a cooking mood one night and made crepes with ricotta cheese filling and marmalade-liqueur sauce.

Only: I forgot that Blue Curacao is, well, blue. Mixed with marmalade, the result is sickly green. I told my hubby it tastes fine as long as you don’t look at it. :)

        • Theresa says:

Like Bridget Jones’s Diary; “We have blue soup to start, orange pudding to end, and, well, for a main course you have, um, congealed green gunge.”

        • earlybird1 says:

Oh. MYGOSH. Will you come and cook for me please?

          • earlybird1 says:

Really, I meant that. If it tastes good, it IS good. And those ingredients sound mighty tasty! :)

          • Noelegy says:

Aw, thank you for the compliment. I’m really not that big of a foodie; I just discovered a year or so ago that crepes are much easier to make than previously thought. :)

  14. Stacy says:

Our cat Wylene loved the KNex roller coaster “her boy” made years ago. She would lead people into his bedroom to show it off.

  15. MommaMackie says:

To add to the mousie danger, remember that the orange ones are poisonous!

  16. Niki says:

    That’s my doggeh’s name. :)

  17. Noelegy says:

You all must see this forthwith.

Fat marmie cats Photoshopped into classic paintings.

  18. Jane says:

Ahhh yes, childhood cartoons. The kitty was ALWAYS finding ways to disguise his mouth and get the mousies to enter.

  19. bookmonstercats says:

The K’Nex system is a piece of installation art, as performed by Stephanie’s little brother.

And Sassy is obviously an integral part.

    Whether she’s wanted or not!

  20. Wend says:

Having “played” with K’Nex years ago with my son, I just have to say… my fingers ache in sympathy with this builder. Other than that,
Totally Awesome!!!! And I love Steph for taking picutres to share her brother’s awesome, and the fabulous “Cat-o-the-Coaster’.

  21. Ali-Baba says:

The second pic makes me think…
    “Bond, Sassy Bond”
D’ya think she likes her mousetoonis shaken or stirred?;-)

  22. earlybird1 says:

Methinks Sassycat is mostly soaking up the sunbeams on that gorgeous wooden floor. K’NEX sculpture happens to be a perfect frame for his gorgeous self.

  23. Nick says:

    AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  24. marti says:

WOW – How was this roller coated created ? I cant tell if it is toothpicks or not. This is amazing work by a very talented brother. The nice clean wooden floors are to die for. Kitty photos are wonderful. You should become a photographer – you have a really great eye for stricking photos.

And I agree that orange kitties are hell on wheels. Orange tabbies come from the usually Gray Calico females who are so very sweet and docile. But rambucious orange boys are born to them with stripes or spots, sometimes they have both.

I have 4 of them little orange boys ( well not so young anymore aged between 1 and 20 yrs old ) and I found out the hard way that hospitals cannot stitch up cat scratches because they are such clean razor sharp wounds. The best that they can do is tape your skin together and give antibiotics against an infection.

  25. Holly says:

Beautiful work! Kitty is so, “I approve of your monument to my greatness, you may withdraw.”

  26. dmaufer says:

LOVE the second pic – composition AND attitude!
