Knobs

I’d like you to meet my pet fawn.

I call her “Knobs” after her knees.

When I’m at work at Cute Overload Headquarters, she hangs out in the lawn in front of the office and stares at people on their cigarette breaks.

She wears a spotted pocket square if she gets schnozzle sniffles.

She goes to the spa for hoofie-hoofies (fawn version of mani-pedi.)

On her best days, she’ll show you her tiny tongue.

Hey Meg , I bet that sweet little bundle would love it if a secret someone would put a salt lick out there for her ! I bet a farm co-op of even Cabella’s has one .
In fact if someone did put one out for her I bet she would stay around as long as there was one in the area.

My husband insisted we just had to put a salt lick out for the many deer that wander through our property. We finally got one…and the deer completely ignored it (at least when we were watching; they may have used it at other times).

When the weather is hot for any length of time I put out a big pan of water for the critters, and I’ve seen a mama deer and both her bebehs drinking out of it at the same time. :-)

Awww..reminds me of the four babies we raised when we lived in the state parks (my dad was a forest ranger). They are so gentle and sweet. They used to lie on the carpet in our living room and watch TV (or at least the motion). Fond memories for sure!

Why does this remind me of a shampoo ad from the 70′s? (oops, my age is showing! {blushes})

    ‘Pet my haunches.’ Heeeeeeeeeeee-yaaaa! That one’s a screamer. ;-)

  16. Rachael says:

Wow, simply stunning! Sometimes when I visit my mom in her nursing home I’ll see deer about 10 feet from her window. And each time, I am awestruck at their amazing beauty and elegance.

I get deer in my backyard from time to time (the house backs on to a nature conservation area). They come to chew on the shrubbery. I will often sit with my bowl of cheerios at the breakfast table in the morning and watch the deer eat my hosta, just outside the window, merely a few feet away from where I’m sitting. They are gentle and curious but hyper-aware of their surroundings and will flee quickly if startled. I’ve seen people (slow-movers) get very close: close enough to pet haunches and hand-feed (though this is neither encouraged or recommended).

What a pleasure to see pictures of the knobility here on CO. I believe Sir Big Ears is a member of the House of Winsome.

Q: When Knobs gets a hoofie-hoofie, what color does she have her hooves done in?
    A: Fawn

    Q: How much does a hoofie-hoofie cost?
A: It’s a lot of doe. Quite a few bucks.

Q: Why does Knobs read “Playdoe” magazine while she is getting her hooves done?
    A. Just for the articles, but she does occasionaly stop to look at young buck with a nice rack.

I have the fortune of volunteering at a wildlife sanctuary who houses a rescued deer. She’s totally awesome and sweet and loves giving licks and getting pets.

    • ceejoe says:

Just out of curiosity, will she be released eventually, or, since she is used to the pettingks, will she be kept on the sanctuary forever?
Oh – and good work! I really admire wildlife rehabilitators!
