Cute Overload :D
Mom! Do we have to? We hate lima beans.
Awessum, Erin C. & Matt F.
I hate to admit it, but they are pretty cute. Firsties?
This is gourmet fare, Mrs. Opossum. Young opossums need their vitamins, protein and fiber! Limas are an excellent source of all three! Oh, yes, and bananas for potassium. Excellent choice, Mrs. O!
Not so cute when they’re cornered…
Ugh. Lima beans. *shudders*
Over here, kids. We’ll get some cucumbers.
Most definitely BEF x 3. Never before noticed the pronounced whiskerage on possums.
I’m not so cute when I’m cornered either.
It looks like regular human food except for the banana peel (with sticker) and orange peels. What’s up with that?. Poor babies; I hate lima beans too.
I read somewhere that those stickers are edible, though I’ve never tried one myself.
Emmberrann has the right of it IMO – ‘Possums cannot be picky-picky – sometimes they may look cuterrifical – but they has sharp lil teeth like needles and clawses on their pawses some-what the same sort of sharpies, Also – there is so much good food just thrown in the dumpster – every day to my mind the ‘Possums and Raccoons and such – why they just have it MADE – unless of course they live in Bear Country
I call the big one Bitey.
No lie: Mom used to know a woman who, along with her daughter, had these as pets; there were times where they would have the babies clinging to their hair like barrettes!
Never ate one off a banana, but I’ve inadvertently munched the label on an apple or two in my time. It seems reasonable that they’d have to be at least do-no-harm edible, and I’ve never had any problems as a result of ingesting them. Finding a partially-eaten label is kinda similar to finding only half a worm, though…
We had raccoons and opossums around all the time when I was a kid… the babies were always a blast to watch. My mother would go so far as to buy ultra-cheap cookies from the store and make a cookie trail from outside into our living room. Our furry friends would nicely devour every crumb and leave without so much as a hair left behind…
When not even opossums will eat your lima beans, it’s time to change up the recipe.
oh god i think possums are so cute!
Gee, swill again! I love swill!
Yeah, especially when they flop over.
Yeah, well I also swallowed a penny once with no ill effects… just sayin’
You kids clean up your plates! There are little possum in (insert the name of the country your mom used, in my day it was China) that have nothing to eat and would love to have that food!
Remember from Over the Hedge?
*flop* Rosebud! *tongue hangs out*
Ackshully, they’re fava bean shells… but who’s quibbling?
Nobody puts Baby in the corner…
and some baby back ribs…
And I’ve done the half a worm thing… no ill effects, but all in all– I’d rather find a half a label!
I love seeing possums on CO, but if I came upon this scene at my own garbage can, I don’t think I’d have the courage to take a picture. They scare me when I see them unexpectedly. *shudder*
Nature fact: Virginia Opossums have more teeth than any other mammal.
I volunteered with a ZooMobile program that went to schools. The program’s possum — named Velcro for the top-of-head ornament habit — would follow a trail of grapes on a table, and after chewing each one thoroughly and meditatively, would neatly spit out the grape skin: Ptooooi! Extremely cute, albeit messy.
Waiter! There’s an opposum in my salad.
They’re really good at fooling people into thinking they’re really, really dangerous.
Not so loud…everyone’ll want one!
No change there, then.
*SOMEone had to say it*
Don’t hate me but lima beans are among my most favorite of all foods. Yum City!
And opposums are soft! I got to pet a rescue opposum once that could not be released back into the wild. I was very surprised by how soft her fur was. And I love lima beans too, and succotash (lima beans and corn – don’t know why it has to have such a silly name when you mix the 2 together.)
huh. I never knew that’s what succotash was.
it’s early, but since i’ve learned something already, can i go home now?
Also, might I point out that the Chef did a marvelous job of making the presentation appetizing by including items in a rainbow of colors: orange, green, yellow …..
However, I m’self LURVE (bebeh) limas & never did understand all the hatin’ on them….
Ennybody got any (slobber, drool) ChiANTi here???
*enthusiastically rustles pom-poms for [baby] lima beans*
I second that emotion!
Thank you, we’ll be here all week.
OTOH, I found looking at THIS really dangerous!
(one of my all-time favorites!)
Nobody puts Baby Opossums in the corner!
You ate worms? Was it that nobody likes you and everybody hates you, or was it a triple-dog-dare?
Firdie! I did not give you permission to wave pompoms for lima beans, Missy!
Aww, go ahead.
Ithn’t that pronounthed “thuccotash”?
Either it is because I have not had lunch but the Swill looks Tasty..When is one p.m. getting here!! O and the possums are cute Too!
No wonder you and I are friends! I also LURVE limas. A can of lima beans warmed up, with butter, salt and pepper, is one of my favorite meals.
Hey, wait a minute–I thought you only ate junk food?
Ooh, that would be so cool! I’m jealous.
Um I had a opposum one summer. He was old and sick and at the end of his life. I wanted to make the end easier so I asked the resuce center what to feed him. Opposums like bones, they need more calcium than other mammals so boiled chicken legs were a favorite, some veggies and fruits and Sarbu especially loved fruit on the bottom yoghurt. He would get it all over his face. I like to think that was the best summer of his life. I don’t know where he slept but every night at 8:30 he came for dinner until one day we found him in the shrubs. I hope he didn’t choke on a chicken bone.
Only if you’re “thufferin’” ith it pronounthed “thuccotash”!
You have a kind heart Blue Fairy, Bless you.
*pouts temporarily, then recovers composure*
I figured since Limas are *somewhat* starch-based, they aren’t exactly the *roughage* kinda veggies, so I made an Exceptions Clause for lima beans
– wait — one other variable — if you’re
