True-Life Tales of Cuteness!

Ann W. testifies: “My friends and I went camping at The Shades State Park in Indiana. During our four-hour hike through the Sugar Creek Ravine, we came to the river. So we sat and rested. As my friend Jamie sat on a rock, she set down her water-proof case on adjacent rocks.

“Moments later, a tiny McToaderson hopped under her case and made it his own cave! The McToaderson was so grateful for her shade providing, he hopped onto her hand so he could say hello! And yes, we squealed and sat in awe of his bleeneyness. We then put him in a shade spot near the water and continued on our hike. Good-bye, Mr. McToaderson!”

  1. That’s the cutest, itsy-bitsyest toad I ever laid eyes on. OMG it’s adorable.

    • Fird Birfle says:

      I second this entire statement.
Pretty much, the words that went through my own mind, as I read the story and saw the picture!

Total Bleenyness for sure. ooohhh, firsties. :)

    • imma hopin’ my daughter calls the next baby “bleenyness”. i mean, what with all the babies being named propecia and sinutab these days i think “bleenyness” is quite preppy and understated.

You know those capsule toys? If you took out the toy and put some greenery in the capsule, it would make a sweet little bio-dome for Mr. McToaderson.

    • kris says:

he looks like the toy in the capsule!
just needs a windup thing on his side.
      too adorabhules!!

Weensy toadlettes! One summer when I was visiting my brother, I was sitting by these whiskey barrel planters, when I noticed a toadlette, then another and another – there were lots of them! Adorable.

I’m especially fond of toads – we had a pet toad named Thaddeus. He was a big guy, like the size of the palm of your hand. We used to feed him raw hamburger on a tongue depressor. (We have a picture of him turning his head to eye up a bit of hamburger.) But we only kept him a little while before returning him to the Wild.

    • Fird Birfle says:

Thaddeus — an admirable name for a McToaderson!

      • kzgz says:

Oh, I’m glad you like it! I just remembered – his Formal Name was J Thaddeus Toad. I don’t know what the “J” stood for. Jehoshaphat?

  7. Bev D says:

A raisin toad! At least that’s what we used to call those tiny mctoadersons…:)

  8. scigirl451 says:

If you kissed him, would he turn into The Little Prince?

  9. ashagato says:

    the tiniest of plink, plinks!

  10. Gigi says:

Little baby hoppedy hop hop, so cute :-)

  11. Guinea Peeg Lover says:

So adorables! He reminds me of when my brother found this little toad no bigger then his thumbnail at an airshow about 5 years ago. Our mom let us keep him, and he’s actually still alive. He now has a diameter of about 2 inches.

  12. blair says:

How many TMEC’s (Tiny McToaderson Eye Capsules) could you fit on the head of a pin?

    And…eww.

  13. Moi, Actually says:

Love his little odd-shaped back freckles.
I can see the fashion future: faux toaderson will be the new leopard print.

  14. Jenna says:

My mommy has a toadlet in her garage. He is eating the spiders in there. She looks for him when she opens the garage door. She’d be so upset if she drove over him.

  15. Theresa says:

    The bleenyness is blinding!

  16. Theresa says:

    PS: Teeny bleenyness!

  17. Q_chan says:

I totz need to steal this word “bleeneyness.”

    For it is awesome.

And SQUEEEEEEEEE for mini-toadlets! I’ve seen some on my walks to the bus stop recently–they’re teeny-weeny!

  18. doylecat says:

  20. biscuithead says:

    Toadlette? Toadling?
Whatever, nice use of toad-hance pic, by the way.

  21. TrixandSam says:

The other day I was checking on my tomato plants and out of the corner of my eye I saw a movement by my right foot. I was careful not to move so I could spot whatever it was that was lurking. It turned out to be a toad! I have a garden toad!!! I’m so excited. I’ve seen it elsewhere in my yard but it seems to always make its way back to the veggie garden.

    I loff toads.

  22. Tantrum Tabulev says:

Not to be picky when it comes to the cute, but in the interest of science i have to point out that that’s probably a frog and not a toad, since it seems to be lacking parotoid glands.

  23. Ann W says:

What a delight after work to see my pic on here!! I’m glad ‘yall like him!! :)

  24. 6Rabbits says:

Toadling has an especially pretty spotted pattern!
My toadally-obsessed-with-toads-and-frogs nephew would want me to tell you this fact: Toads force their eyes down into their heads when eating because it makes them swallow! (In second grade, the students were told to write one very important thing they would like everyone to know, and then the class would hang them in the hall above their lockers. So as you’d walk down the hall you’d read comments like
“I love kitties,” “My favorite color is blue,” “Football is the best sport,” or “I love to play Grand Theft Auto,” etc. and then…there would be my nephew’s toad fact!)

    • Joasia says:

Lovely story, and I didn’t know that toad fact. Your nephew toadaly rocks! Send him my best regards, please:)

  25. victoreia says:

Is “bleenyness” in the glossary? If not, I move that it be added!

  26. catmom says:

For some reason this year my yard is full of these little frogs I even had one come into the house . My dogs run after them and play with them like there toys or something there all over the yard and when it rains they really come out
