“Cheeeese!”
According to The Daily Mail, the following portrait was taken by a macaque who became fascinated in a camera lens that was left idle, decided to borrow it and snap these awesome Monkey self portraits!

“How do you like my new profile pic?”
Typical bro hairdo, I see.
suluwesi crested macaque.
One of my fave monkehs.
Whoops. I didn’t know I posted this. I found out how to do the
face, though. It’s 8 O without the spaces.
Awesome, now I can do it too
Thanks!

Yes!! *Punches air*
88
No!!
*Tries again*

*Slinks away*
Ahem, bookmonstercats…I think it’s supposed to be eight-letter O, not eight-zero. Lemme try:
[8o]
8o
80 whoaaaa
8 0
Nooooooooooooo!
I always typed in : shock : (without the spaces).
8 capital O
KA, I get most of my codes from CT! lol
Like Mr. Green
Monkey photographer!
ooh, I want to do the laughing face too! How? How?
: lol :
colon-lol-colon
Totally Redunkulous!
This is what happens when silly hoomans leave their junk layin around.
Next thing ya know, hes gonna be demanding photography classes and an agent.
;D
1: Stop monkeyin’ aroun’ with the camera!!!
2: Yup. It’s indeed a “cheesy” facial expreshe!
Also: (brace yerselves. This one’s fairly stinkeh…)
I heard that Rachel Zoe saw this photo. She commented that
the monkey’s facial expression was ba.na.nas.
CHEESE!!! (on fried bananas please! Sooooo good!)
*looking not all that deeply into the crystal ball* I see a Disney movie in your fuuutuuuurrrre…..
preceded by a generous supply of Crest 3D Whitestrips Professional Effects
lolol
He’s got Wallace and Gromit teeth…..*cheese Gromit*
I don’t want to be a pie. I don’t like graaavvvy!
“The chickens are revoltin’!” “That’s the first thing we agree upon, Mr. weedy.”
Tweedy. (sigh)
“Wake up, Gromit!”
“I could just fancy some cheese, Gromit. What do you say? Cheddar?”
If you ask me, it was arson! Yeah, someone arsin’ around!
*snerk*
When Easter Island’s smiling . . . .
ah, beat me to it!
I saw this guy! He’s famous for his sculptures too! http://www.shanemcdonald.org/smdpics/paris_Dscf2575.jpg
That picture made me giggle.
hey. this guy just friended me on facebook.
*high fives deusxmac*
(also notes the possible derivation of screenname deusxmac….as a Certified Vocabulary Nerd, I’m somewhat familiar with the phrase Deus Ex Machina…:) )
did you Like it?
Another, minimalist possible Caption/ Headline:
“Oh, SNAP!!!”
I just noticed, I think this guy stole Bugs Bunny’s dentures!
SMILE YOUR ON CANDID CAMERA !
Wonder if he hires himself out for weddings and portrait sessions?
Anyone else ready to claim “instant bullcrap” simply because this was in The Daily Mail?
Something about the teeth looks incredibly off.
I thought the same thing. To me it’d the eyes though. Nature doesn’t make beasts that look like Jim Henson knock offs. (or does it?)
Yeah, I immediately thought “bullcrap.” (To be fair though, that’s my response to just about everything.) For me, it’s the idea that he just happened to pick up this camera (“camera LENS”??) and not only snapped a picture, but one of himself, perfectly framed, etc.
Yeah, definitely a hoax. Cute picture, but a sham.
The eyes totally make him look like some sort of super Furby, or Farscape extra thing!! Or maybe like one of the creatures who talks to you when you’re riding Splash Mountain at Disney World?
Does my brow ridge look big in this?
Best photobomb ever! (except he’s not in someone else’s photo)
It’s sad that the macaque is a better photographer than I am. Just like that gull was a better videographer than I am. Sheesh!
Banana’s-eye view! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So I’m looking at the Daily Mail’s other photo and found myself mousing over for the hovertext!
Great story and pics, but how did he know not to eat the camera? Most animals try to eat things first dont’ they?
Just amazing how these creatures were not in the least bit scared of humans, just curious
I <3 the teefs.
Leonard had only just joined the A/V Club, so he was still having trouble figuring out some of the equipment.
Seagulls making home movies…monkeys taking photographs…surely it’s only a matter of time before a member of the animal kingdom works out how to upload stuff directly to YouTube.
My bet is on this kitty:
He’s already bilingual.
I love that video! My favourite bit is when the puss is barking, but then looks behind, and sees the owner. The cat then kinda clears the throat and begins meowing – cat style.
It’s like, “Oh. Hello. Um… meow?”
Dogs and cats . . . . living together. . . . . MASS HYSTERIA!
Yeah, I am sure it’s photoshopped…too bad. It would such a hoot if that could really happen.
Looks like it could be right out of a pixar movie doesn’t it.
Can’t be…macaques don’t know how to use Photoshop!
I showed this to a buddy of mine who works with monkeys, and she says this expression is actually a fear grimace. (Not trying to nuff — just some context.) When asked why the macaque would continue to play with the camera if he was frightened of it, she answered that they can be pretty dumb. Great teeth, though!
Yah well this photo totally scared me! Primates are rarely cute in my opinion.
This gave me the biggest smile (I probably looked a little like the macaque)
Ok this story just made my day.
this guy could teach the folks at Olin Mills a thing or two about awesome fauxtoes – he hit dead center too !
Hee hee! Did anyone else get reminded of the Serta sheep?
http://www.serta.co.za/img/jpg/sheep_smile_01.jpg
Oh, and
YES! WOO HOOOOOO!
That face is IMPOSSIBLE.
Technically, the macaque owns the rights to those pictures.
