Haha! I have loooots of “squirrel sleeping in rack” photos, but most of them weren’t appropriate for this site It was definitely one of his favorite places to camp out!
So redonkulously cute! I loves me some baby squirrels! Does anyone know what kind of squirrelly this is? It looks different than any others I’ve seen before.
I have a big ol’ soft spot in my heart for bebeh squirrels. For a number of years I lived in house with huge mature trees ideal for squirrel nests. One was at the edge of the driveway and arched over it about half way. One Sunday afternoon, i was weeding my flower beds at the end of the drive and had to get something from the garage. As I walked up, my eye happened to catch something on the driveway. As I approached I discovered it was a teeeny tiny babeh squirrel, barely a week old. It had been blown out of its nest high up in this tree spanning the drive. I rushed him (not that I could tell the gender) to the nearest wild animal rescue and they weighed him, gave him a belly full of meelk and warmed him. They told me to put him in a nesting box (which they gave me) and nestle the box in a nook/cranny of the tree. Mama squirrel was bound to find him on her trips up and down the tree. Sure enough, the box was empty by next morning. Whew!!!
I knew that THIS was only a matter o time & viewership before it was suggested.
And this is one case/ photo where I also, really do like the [critter] and racks photo itself.
Also, it seems to me, that the person who did the photog really does lovely, meticulous work, attractive levels of lighting, etc..
I clicked through where Meg has “sender-inner” and it actually goes to a guy photog’s webpage, which didn’t show the female’s name at all,
but the subject matter and quality levels of the photography there seemed pretty nice.!! …
Fird Birfle,
Thank you for your compliments! I am the squirrel owner, photographer from the website, and I also took all of the shots of the squirrel except for the rack one, who was taken by my boyfriend.
I’m glad you enjoyed all of my photos!!
I am in the middle of an ongoing DRAMA with a flying squirrel in my living room. If I could, I would snuggle him like in that first picture. Instead, I just want to get him out of my house before he starves or is eaten by a cat. ;_; He is fast like the devil and we’re out of peanuts.
and they are so big when in the house…one chewed its way into my kitchen to attack fresh brownies with nuts. we scared each other to death i opened window and screen, closed up everything else and he exited.
nightmares…
LURVE SKWERLS! Especially bebeh skwerls. I’m in my seventh season as a mammal nursery volunteer at the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center (MN) helping the squirrels. Such a great job.
Chanpon,
The squirrel was found in a parking lot downtown, with no nest/trees/mom in sight. He was only 3 weeks old and still had his eyes closed. I nursed him back to health and continued to mother him with the help of a local animal sanctuary. He is now about 14 weeks old and has been successfully been weaned into the wild! And I still see him every day and give him treats and food! That’s his story! Glad you like the photos!
AWWWWW!!!!!! da lil feetzies!!!!! da lil qiggly nosums!!!!!! INSTANT pile of mushy goo!!! And, not just selfishly kept, but tenderly nursed & returned back to the great outdoors & then helped along w/presents fro foster “mama”?!?!? 2much fer woids!!! Must melt down into incoherant baby babble…
I want a squirrel! I know they are Wild Animals, but if breeders created a domestic fox in something like 50 years, why can’t someone create a domestic pet squirrel?
I love the last phot where the little critter is smiling…and the bottoms of his feetses are so cute! First time firsties too…my lucky day!
i know, the leetle paw pads!!! tooo cute!!
Skwerlio toe beans!!!!
Comme c’est adorable!!!
Already by the first photo, I was humming the following

Love the pocket shot. Very sweet little sqwerlio.
this whole post made me grin so big

Seriously, we wonder why animals refuse to leave once they’re rehabilitated. I sure wouldn’t be rushing out the door.
Ditto!!!
The squirrel cuteness was almost too much for me to handle before my morning coffee!!
last pic, THE FEETS!! the back feets. they are so big. they look like shoes deliberately’ bought too big for a boy so he can grow into them…’
really a cute squirrel. i thought he was gonna end up hitting the sack in the rack, but no….

beybey squirrel, squee! using an eye-dropper, must feed it condensed meelks!!!
Her tail is twice as long as her body, but she doesn’t need it for a blanket ’cause she’s got a nice flannel beddie instead.

I need a tow! This squirell has wrecked me.
*fires up the CO tow truck/ice cream van (which does NOT play ‘Turkey in the Straw’ OR ‘Pop goes the Weasel’
), heads out to rescue Mamabear*
First of all, adorable skwerlio smile!
Secondly, the ice cream truck in my neighborhood plays… The theme from The Godfather. It’s… A little creepy.
*sniff* I don’t think we have ice-cream trucks here in Hawaii! (wails) I wanna ice-cream truck!!!!!!!!!!!!1!!!!!!!!11111!
Yes, but you have Matsumoto Shaved Ice, so that more than makes up for it!
i’d happily give up ice cream trucks forever if i could live in hawaii

Shay, he is a “Eastern Gray Squirrel” .. specifically “honey brown” colored.
Thanks! He is just so differently colored that I couldn’t be sure what species he is!
I’ve never seen a honey brown squirrel!

So what is skwerlio’s story?
The pic of him snoozing in the shirt pocket is too prosh!
