A Day in the Life of Squirrel Jr.

Squirrel Jr., we’re gonna have a good day together, you and me.

This day in the life brought to you by Sender-Inner and squirrel-taker-carer Lindsay R.

  1. Chihgirl says:

I love the last phot where the little critter is smiling…and the bottoms of his feetses are so cute! First time firsties too…my lucky day!

  2. Fird Birfle says:

    Comme c’est adorable!!!

Already by the first photo, I was humming the following
(hoping computerworld+embedding gods will smile upon moi)

  3. Fird Birfle says:

[that wasn’t *quite* the item I intended — I don’t have my earphones with me at present…anyhow the idea, was, for the theme song for the Courtship of Eddie’s Father. Bonus Inneresting Factoid — if the source webpage can be believed? — Harry Nilsson was a primary writer of that marvelous song]

    Here’s my “Do-Over” 🙂

  4. Love the pocket shot. Very sweet little sqwerlio.

  5. tracylee says:

this whole post made me grin so big 😀

  6. Mary (the first) says:

  7. Seriously, we wonder why animals refuse to leave once they’re rehabilitated. I sure wouldn’t be rushing out the door.

  8. wannadance says:

last pic, THE FEETS!! the back feets. they are so big. they look like shoes deliberately’ bought too big for a boy so he can grow into them…’

really a cute squirrel. i thought he was gonna end up hitting the sack in the rack, but no….

  9. beybey squirrel, squee! using an eye-dropper, must feed it condensed meelks!!!

  10. dogsleder says:

Her tail is twice as long as her body, but she doesn’t need it for a blanket ’cause she’s got a nice flannel beddie instead.

  11. jlamusings says:

  12. jlamusings says:

Totally appropriate background music. And so not surprising that it’s Harry Nilsson since I’ve always loved this theme song. 🙂 *starts humming “Me and my Arrow” in a fit of childhood nostalgia*

  13. Mamabear says:

I know I’m not the only one who sounded like a teen working their first 5 speed manual transmission while viewing this set of squirreliciousness:

    Pic 1: “waahh”
    Pic 2: “Waaahhh”
    Pic 3: “WAaaahhhh!”
    Pic 4: “WAAaaahhhhh!!”
    Pic 5: “WAAAaaahhhhhh!!!”
    Pic 6: REDLINING IT!!
Pic 7: Cylinders fuse to block…
Pic 8: Transmission falls out on highway

I need a tow! This squirell has wrecked me.

  14. Ali-Baba says:

*fires up the CO tow truck/ice cream van (which does NOT play ‘Turkey in the Straw’ OR ‘Pop goes the Weasel’ 😉 ), heads out to rescue Mamabear*

  15. Theresa says:

    Them back feeties . . . Wow.

  16. OMG, those teef!

  17. So redonkulously cute! I loves me some baby squirrels! Does anyone know what kind of squirrelly this is? It looks different than any others I’ve seen before.

  18. TrixandSam says:

I have a big ol’ soft spot in my heart for bebeh squirrels. For a number of years I lived in house with huge mature trees ideal for squirrel nests. One was at the edge of the driveway and arched over it about half way. One Sunday afternoon, i was weeding my flower beds at the end of the drive and had to get something from the garage. As I walked up, my eye happened to catch something on the driveway. As I approached I discovered it was a teeeny tiny babeh squirrel, barely a week old. It had been blown out of its nest high up in this tree spanning the drive. I rushed him (not that I could tell the gender) to the nearest wild animal rescue and they weighed him, gave him a belly full of meelk and warmed him. They told me to put him in a nesting box (which they gave me) and nestle the box in a nook/cranny of the tree. Mama squirrel was bound to find him on her trips up and down the tree. Sure enough, the box was empty by next morning. Whew!!!

    I love bebeh squee!!

  19. Fird Birfle says:

    THAT’s whut Ahm talkin’ ’bout!!!
More goofy teef!!! More goofy teef!!!

*begins gathering crayons and posterboard to make demonstration signs*

  20. Fird Birfle says:

  22. Ahhh this reminds me of my brothers and there time in BOy scouts… no program/presentation would be complete with out that wonderful song

    Shake your bushy tail!

  23. Ali-Baba says:

Does that mean you’re like Flubber now?! 😉

Oh, and I see your aaaaaaawwwwww and I second it! 🙂

  24. Jimbeaux says:

First of all, adorable skwerlio smile!

Secondly, the ice cream truck in my neighborhood plays… The theme from The Godfather. It’s… A little creepy.

  25. Skwerlz ‘n Racks!

  26. victoreia says:

*sniff* I don’t think we have ice-cream trucks here in Hawaii! (wails) I wanna ice-cream truck!!!!!!!!!!!!1!!!!!!!!11111!

  27. Is that Way Squirrel Jr.?

  28. I am in the middle of an ongoing DRAMA with a flying squirrel in my living room. If I could, I would snuggle him like in that first picture. Instead, I just want to get him out of my house before he starves or is eaten by a cat. ;_; He is fast like the devil and we’re out of peanuts.

  29. Melissa says:

Ahhhh… what a great way to get sent off to work with images of this baby in mah hed……………lalalalala/

  30. 260Oakley says:

    Crinkle up your funny nose
Put a nut between your toes

    Indeed, a classic loony tune.

  31. i know, the leetle paw pads!!! tooo cute!!

  32. Ditto!!!

The squirrel cuteness was almost too much for me to handle before my morning coffee!!

  33. Possessed by Cats says:

Yes, but you have Matsumoto Shaved Ice, so that more than makes up for it!

  34. LURVE SKWERLS! Especially bebeh skwerls. I’m in my seventh season as a mammal nursery volunteer at the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center (MN) helping the squirrels. Such a great job.

  35. snorglepup says:

Zeki: Open window = exit squirrel.

  36. wannadance says:

    LOL LOL, snork, kaff kaff…

    that is hilarious…

  37. Aww the tooth in the second-to-last pic!!

In other news, I got all the wrong types of mental images from the second hovertext – “we’re gonna take your beady eyes out” O.O

  38. wannadance says:

and they are so big when in the house…one chewed its way into my kitchen to attack fresh brownies with nuts. we scared each other to death i opened window and screen, closed up everything else and he exited.

  39. Lindsay R. says:

Bahahah best comment award!!! (judged by the squirrel owner) 🙂

  40. Lindsay R. says:

Shay, he is a “Eastern Gray Squirrel” .. specifically “honey brown” colored.

  41. Lindsay R. says:

Haha! I have loooots of “squirrel sleeping in rack” photos, but most of them weren’t appropriate for this site 🙂 It was definitely one of his favorite places to camp out!

  42. baileysgrandmom says:

  43. SoCratesX53 says:

    Skwerlio toe beans!!!!

  44. chanpon says:

    So what is skwerlio’s story?

The pic of him snoozing in the shirt pocket is too prosh!

  45. Fird Birfle says:

(sung to the tune of “I Feel Pretty”, from WestSideStory):

“I feel puzzled, oh so puzzled…..”

  46. Fird Birfle says:

  47. Fird Birfle says:

  48. Fird Birfle says:

I knew that THIS was only a matter o time & viewership before it was suggested.
And this is one case/ photo where I also, really do like the [critter] and racks photo itself.

Also, it seems to me, that the person who did the photog really does lovely, meticulous work, attractive levels of lighting, etc..

I clicked through where Meg has “sender-inner” and it actually goes to a guy photog’s webpage, which didn’t show the female’s name at all,
but the subject matter and quality levels of the photography there seemed pretty nice.!! …

  49. Fird Birfle says:

    @ Ali-Baba:

    Here is a gruesome snapshot,
    taken shortly after The Incident:

  50. Nom Chompsky says:

I haven’t been feeling very well today but the close up of mr squirrel jr. and when he’s snoozing make me feel a bit better 🙂

  51. bob drummond says:

After seeing the other video about the squirrel versus the Lamboginni, this sqirrel story is very relaxing, believe you me !!! Really CUTE !!

  52. Becky, Bubba'smom says:

So many cute factors apply here. Adorable little fluff ball with B.E.F. galore.

  53. ashagato says:

i’d happily give up ice cream trucks forever if i could live in hawaii 🙂

  54. ashagato says:

  55. Fird Birfle says:

    *sends you “feeling better” vibes!!!*

    hope they help 😦

    *crosses fingers for good luck*

  56. Fird Birfle says:

ooooooh okay now I gettit (had not been able to load/ view the video w/ Lamborghini, earlier today)

    Emily Litella voice: “Never mind.”

  57. Thanks! He is just so differently colored that I couldn’t be sure what species he is! 🙂 I’ve never seen a honey brown squirrel!

  58. Lindsay R. says:

    Fird Birfle,
Thank you for your compliments! I am the squirrel owner, photographer from the website, and I also took all of the shots of the squirrel except for the rack one, who was taken by my boyfriend.
I’m glad you enjoyed all of my photos!!

  59. Lindsay R. says:

The squirrel was found in a parking lot downtown, with no nest/trees/mom in sight. He was only 3 weeks old and still had his eyes closed. I nursed him back to health and continued to mother him with the help of a local animal sanctuary. He is now about 14 weeks old and has been successfully been weaned into the wild! And I still see him every day and give him treats and food! That’s his story! Glad you like the photos!

  60. mamabear says:

    I humbly thank you! 😀

  61. That is teh Qte to the fourteen bazillionth power!

  62. kodalai says:

    Thumbs up!!!!

  63. Gamer Mouse says:

  64. I want a squirrel! I know they are Wild Animals, but if breeders created a domestic fox in something like 50 years, why can’t someone create a domestic pet squirrel?

  65. Fird Birfle says:

    don’t forget “elebenty” 🙂

  66. that’s okay, we understand. 🙂

  67. Fleurdamour says:

Even with the beady eyes it’s cute.

  68. *sniff*

    Miss my baby squirrels.

  69. BEST EVER!!! squirrelylove x 10000!!
