Kitten Plays Invisible Harp!

Yeah I know there’s piano, not harp music in the background—JUST GO WITH IT!!!

Don’t miss the TEENY, MINI, MEW at the end, Matahari. That is some excellent makin’ biscuits action.

I nominate the owner of this hand for the Men of Cute Overload calendar. He is sooo gentuhls with the kitteh.
Kitteh at the end says, “Eep!”

    • Mamabear says:

YES! Omg I want to marry this man. Never mind that I am very happily married and have been for 22 years. Never mind that I don’t have a clue what he looks like or whether he has a job. Never mind if HE’S married. Never mind that…

There’s nothing much sexier than a man who knows how to play with a…kitteh. What did you THINK I was going to say?! :P

Seriously, though, a man that can be gentle with a tiny and helpless kitten AND video tapes it because he’s comfortable with his coziness, is my kinda man. I know. I have one.

Sexiest thing mine’s ever done? We met up at a park on his lunch break. All of a sudden, he jumps into the creek that runs through the park (about 2 feet deep) and rushes to retrieve something. What was it? His wallet? A hundred dollar bill he saw floating by?

No. It was a poor little box turtle that had fallen in.

His dress shoes and pants were drenched and he still had to go back to work and at that moment he was (still is) the sexiest man alive!

BTW, the turtle was fine. And hubby was richly rewarded that evening. *winks*

LOVE that line (and ‘s Mike Myer’s
smarmy delivery, along with his Bad British Teefs) !!!!

      • dub1 says:

Glad he got his just desserts and all, but box turtles can swim!

        • Mamabear says:

Really?! I never knew that. This little guy was on his tumbling downstream, mostly on his back. He sure seemed pretty helpless. Besides, it’s the thought that counts.

    • Wend says:

      I second this nominotion!!

      • ashagato says:

okay mamabear, your story reminds me of going on a date with a total jerk long, long ago (extremely pretentious and full-of-himself – you know the type) we went on a picnic near a river and afterwards, while attempting to dump ice out of the cooler, he instead threw himself and the cooler into the river in one athletic motion. he was so peeved that he ruined his pressed khakis and white suede shoes, not to mention his huge ego, poor baby! i almost died trying to stifle my laughter….

  15. 260Oakley says:

This tiny harp-ee has unstrung me.

  16. Nikki says:

It DOES look like she is playing the harp! Squee! She also has spectacular toe bean splayage. If it weren’t for the classical music, I’d call Jazz Paws…

  17. ffleur says:

    Beautiful, adorable kitteh.
Hand is very manly, music is beautiful and meep is adorable.

All in all, very well done.

  18. Gigi says:

My little Bindi plays harp. In the morning she will sit on the window sill in the bedroom and hook one claw in the screen and pull gently.

What you hear is a little ding, followed a second later by another ding a little louder, and then another slightly different ding. Because she keeps moving her paw up and down, plucking a different part of the screen. the dings do not all sound the same, it’s not what we would call a melody by any means but I guess to her it’s sounds good.

  19. Ayaa says:

we’re down to one dog again, and I’m trying REALLY hard to convince my mum that a cat would be a good pet to have. I’ll probably have to give her a dissertation on proven methods of reducing shedding first.

but if, someday, I get to enjoy a sleeping kitten reincarnation of Harpo Marx….it’ll be worth it.

  20. dub1 says:

All I could think of was Earrrrrly One Morrrrning:
Any Canuck ex-pats in the house?

    • Gigi says:

Will a Canuck still living in Canada do? Although I must say I was never a fans of the Gentle Gian.

    • belphebe says:

I remember The Friendly Giant well. Loved that show. Thanks for the link.

      • dub1 says:

You’re welcome! I did, too, as well as Mr. Dress-Up, great compensation for being home sick on a schoolday. Couldn’t stand the voice of Chez Hélène, the filler between TFG and MrD in my area, who would make my brother’s dog howl: youtube has a great Codco parody of her.

        • ashagato says:

american married to a canadian here, and living up near toronto. hubby has mentioned these shows. thanks for the link!

    • Mamabear says:

It’s like the Neighborhood of Make Believe!!!

Made me run to youtube and watch a few snippets. Yep! Just as creepy as I remember. :O

    • Carmi says:

I grew up with the Friendly Giant, I remember Jerome the Giraffe, Rusty the chicken and the band of kittehs… not an ex-pat, still living here in Mtl.

    • LunaChickFringe says:

I remember the Friendly Giant but I live in Ohio. We were able to to get one Canadian Channel. I don’t find it creepy. In Cleveland, Barnaby was creepy.

      • ajm1125 says:

Oh…I can attest to Barnaby being scary. Miss Barbara..wonderful and soothing. Though she never did say my name. But…having been lucky enough to know the nice lady, she more than made up for it. I don’t recall Friendly Giant at all, but the Canadian station came in sporadically.

      • B. says:

WOW!! I remember Barnaby too, but don’t remember him being especially scary. I didn’t like Franz the Toymaker…he creeped me out.

    • canadianmary says:

Gosh that sure brings back memories!!!
      Thanks for sharing that!
Another Canadian but NOT an expat(curious, are YOU an expat,dub1?);I live just across from Vancouver BC, on Vancouver island …
I never found the Friendly Giant creepy; he was comfortingly familiar(as the show did most things the same every day, lol) and I longed to be able to curl up in one of the little chairs in his castle..
PLUS I adored Jerome, the giraffe(but found Rusty annoying…)
Oh yes, and as for the little harpist, if THAT doesn’t instantly relax you to see, then what would…awww… :)

    • Wend says:

      Yay Friendly Giant!!!

Isn’t if funny how things go…. hadn’t thought of this show or Mr. D. for years, and then, just the other week at work, we got talking about both of them, and now here they are on CO. !!!

*picturing waves in the ether, eafting invisible trains of thought throughout the universe*

      • Wend says:

        Wafting, wafting, not eafting!!

      • ashagato says:

nice healthy canadian presence here in the CO comments. i should have known! ;)

        • dub1 says:

Evidently, Canucks are Connoisseurs of Cute! (and have all been edumacated by The FG and MrD; perhaps why we are subliminally polite).
Waves at Wend: years ago, a friend threatened to name his son Casey Finnegan: and did!

    • Katie says:

Also still living in Canada here. I loved watching the Friendly Giant growing up! I only learned semi-recently that it was one person who simultaneously did the puppeteering for both Rusty and Jerome (each with one hand/arm)

    • Lorel j says:

Wow. I haven’t thought of the Friendly Giant since I watched him, and never would have remembered him — until I saw the video you posted, dub1! Then when I saw that boot, I knew what I would hear next… “Look up. Waaaay up.” I must have loved the show because it was all so familiar to me. thanks for posting!

Not a Canadian — I grew up in Ann Arbor, MI, enjoying (still enjoying) Canadian shows. Loved CKLW back then, and now I listen to all kinds of programming from north of the border on my public radio station.

  25. Bonnie says:

Durrrrrr. It’s a TEENY TINY KITTY HARP. Of course you can’t hear it over the piano music.

  26. Trixie says:

This video is just what the doctor ordered… Seems like with most of the kitty stuff on here, I’m frantically screaming at my monitor, “PET THE BELLEH!! HOW CAN YOU RESIST?!?!?!?!” And this video is ALL belleh-pet, so it’s all good.

  27. Jesse says:

    Sooo cute! My heart exploded.<3

  28. Skip says:

That is possibly the happiest kitten I have ever seen.

It made me nearly as happy just to see her!

  29. SlaveToCat says:

The hand of god teaches an Angel how to play the harp.

  30. Aimee Schommer says:

  31. Fird Birfle says:

Et voici la chanson, a la harpe, donc le/la p’tit chaton

  32. He should compete in an air harp competish.

  38. Lady Xenia says:

Anybody know exactly what the piece of music is called that is playing during the video? :)

  39. debg says:

I couldn’t sleep last night for wondering about this vid. Thank GOD they finally posted it!!!!

(and actually slept like a baby)

  40. L. says:

What’s with the little yellow block that says “rate or the kitten will die”??? WTF?

  41. pamela l. kelly says:

oh my landehs!! her IS the cutest, cute, cutie, kitten in the world!! i just watched that video ’bout a 100 times in a row!!

  42. Bellasmom says:

What is with the BS*it with the message in the corner. “Rate or the kitten will die”. Once again CO needs to improve the edititing. Fools.

  43. canadianmary says:

Why has my post STILL isnt showing after I posted about 6 hours ago; I cannot understand this.
I have posted many times before, what did I say?
(sadly re watches the video to cheer self up)

  44. alwayscataddictf, says:

I saw the “rate or kitten will die comment” on the video. I don’t usually nuff, but that is a little disturbing…

    • Sharpy says:

it’s one more of those subbacultcha in-jokes.

      eeep

      • alwayscataddict says:

Ok. That makes me feel better! I’m not a huge interwebs type person, so many of the “in” jokes get past me….

  45. Snurfles says:

I thought the “rate or the kitten will die” comment was pretty funny. Obviously, it was a joke. Get a sense of humor folks. I love kittens as much as anyone here (I’ve lived with at least 10 of over my lifetime – not all at the same time) and I’m sure the person who put the comment there was simply having us on. It’s sad to go through life without the ability to laugh.

  46. BO BABBYO says:

WAIT A MINUTE!!! That kitteh is not playing an invisible musical instrument! HE IS DRAWING AN INVISIBLE ARROW IN AN INVISIBLE BOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  47. June says:

What’s up with the yellow box “Rate this video or the kitten will die”? That is so sick! It wasn’t there when I first viewed this video when it was posted.

  48. Katy says:

I love how the kitten starts out looking at the hand like “What is this thing…that’s making me…so sleepy…zzzzzzzzz”

Also I love everything else about this video.

  49. bagelbuddie says:

I AM IN CELESTIAL HEAVEN WITH ALL OF MY PAST KITTIES.

  50. Redscylla says:

Harp music makes me sleppy, too.

  51. Dres says:

Eh… ‘please rate or the kitten will die’ was probably an attempt to be funny. Maybe I’d have laughed if I was in a better mood. Instead it was just annoying. Hate pop ups over Youtube cuteness to begin with – This just made it more annoying than usual :P

(funny, if they had asked ‘please rate this’ in a more fluffy, adorable way – like the kitten – I would have actually bothered clicking over there. As it is, I find it a waste of time to bother :P )

  52. Teresa says:

AWW :D I would do the same to that kitty :D After I took him/her home with me if he/she did not have a loving home to live in :D

  53. Cheyenne says:

    That just gave me squeeosis!

  54. I have remixed it with Harp Music!!! :)

  55. Wombatish says:

Kitten looks like a tiny version of my old man, with the same turkish van-y pattern in that same tabby color.

If it’s a boy and has two spots, one on each side I’d wonder who stole him and cloned him :o

  56. Simon says:

    LOL! ADORABLE!

Love the tiny high pitched MIEW at the end :D
