  19. tracylee says:

woohoo! one of my favorite things about life, itself, is the Shiba Inu Puppy Cam!

  20. 260Oakley says:

Mom and Inuettes on a rubber ducky bed… shi-blew my mind.

  21. This is really not cute…they are overbreeding her which is animal abuse. She has had far too many litters in too short of time.

  22. Thanks HP! :D

  23. yuck! is that true? how do you know that?

  24. tracylee says:

    O! Those puppeh bellehs!
one could write an entire ode to them.

  25. Silent Meow says:

The puppies are having nom nom noms!

    Wow, what hungry puppehs!

  26. Awwwww!!!! *melts*

  27. 4leafclover says:

    Plus a smiling carrot!!

  28. CathyDee says:

This is her third litter in about two years, if I remember correctly. I don’t know what the norms are for responsible breeding, but I have never seen a group of animals tended to so carefully and lovingly. I’ve taken a look at some of the other puppy cams on ustream and have been disgusted by the conditions of some of those homes–the opposite of the home of the SF shibas.

  29. Momma Kika has an extremely loving home and is madly loved by her SFShiba peeps and thousands of shibaholics round the world. She brings us all such joy.

  30. Little burritos!

  31. Don’t forget about the BALD EAGLE CHICK cam!!! XD

  32. sunnylessmum says:

I cannot watch this for too long; it is making me very sleepy! But oh, those little taters are soooooooooooo cute!

  33. RIGHT NOW, the mommy is licking the heinies!

  34. MJ, with all due respect, please don’t pass judgement on things you know nothing about. I have watched the Puppy Cam since its inception, and I can tell you there are no dogs more loved and lovingly cared for than those living in that home. The owners are responsible breeders and are very careful about who the sires of their litters are to make sure there are no undesirable traits passed on to the puppies. And for the record, this is Kika’s third litter since 2008, one about every 15 months or so. I’d hardly call that animal abuse. Not only that, but the breeders have a waiting list of thoroughly vetted owners for their puppies.

  35. D. Cusick says:

She has had three litters, 15 months apart. That is not abusive in the least. And I have been with the cam since the A Team, and you would be sorely pressed to find any owners who take better care of their pets. Why you would say such a thing is beyond me.

  36. D. Cusick says:

Actually, the cam was live as of @ 7:00 eastern time today.

  37. D. Cusick says:

No, it is not true. I posted that this is her third litter, and that each litter was @ 15 months apart.

  38. Silent Meow says:

    What cute little sleeping puptatoes!

  39. I wrote when instead of went hahahah so maybe just word fail.

  40. I think it’s her 3rd litter in almost 3 years. These are probably the most loved dogs and babies of any home ever. Incredibly loved and cared for.

  41. OregonMouse says:

Each of these litters has been 15 months apart. In other words, a whole year for the mother to rest up between weaning the pups and the next mating–a very conservative policy. These are very responsible and loving breeders!

  42. Colonel Jenna says:

The enthusiasm with which the puppies are nursing, makes my chest hurt in sympathy for the Mama dog. I’ve peeked in twice today and the puppies have been nursing both times.

  43. Martha in Washington says:

As of 1:00pm PDT, all were sleeping soundly but Mama PLEASE GET OFF THAT BABY’S HEAD!! I tried reaching through the screen to move the baby just a smidge but to no avail! :)

  44. Three litters in three years is way too much. You should have a space of at least a year before you breed again.
Hopefully this is the last time they actually breed her because you are only supposed to breed them three times. Poor little dog.

  45. Martha in Washington says:

Phew! They moved! Now they are all nursing madly and Mama seems to be sleeping through it! How does she do that?!

  46. Shibaholic says:

I’m not sure where you are getting your information from. The first litter was born in Ocotober of 2008. The second litter in January of 2010. This final litter was born last week (April 2011).

Please get your facts straight before accusing people.

  47. MJ, you don’t know what you are talking about. The 1st litter was born in October of 2008. The 2nd litter was born in January of 2010, 15 months later. This litter was born April 14th, once again, 15 months later. If you had followed them from the first litter, you would know this and also know that these are the best taken care of dogs there are.

  48. Doesn’t everybody?

I’m hearing redonkulous little yips, squeaks and whining noises! Wheee!

  49. susan collins says:

MJ…Actually, there is about 15 months between litters. I suggest you do your research before making blatant statements regarding people you know nothing about! Most breeders could learn a lesson or two from this extremely loving, caring couple on the proper way to breed and raise puppies. Watch the cam long enough, from now, until they go to their forever homes and you’ll understand what I mean.

  50. Auntie Meme says:

    dogs in their larval state

  51. Angela W says:

I was watching earlier and Mommy leaned back onto a baby, when out of nowhere a human hand appeared and moved the little guy. It made me feel good to know they were being watched in person and online.

  52. To let you know Kika, her pups, 3 other dogs, and a cat are cared for by the most loving family. If you were to actually do research and go to a website set up for everyone who watches the cam by the owners, who must I say are the most caring, kind, and lovable owners I have ever seen, you would learn that they have the most respect for any animal they own, let alone meet. They call their pets family and they take all the procautions they can for these pups and Kika. I understand if you don’t care about them as much as some but to call these people animal abusers well that’s just down right wrong.

  53. I have to agree with you, I really don’t see where breeding even MORE dogs is a good thing – there are still three to four MILLION dogs in shelters euthanized each year (check to check my facts). I don’t disagree that these are healthy, loved dogs, you can see that by looking at the cam. But the facts still remain.

  54. Three litters in three years IS a space of a year between each litter.

  55. I read the second post, not the first, sorry!!!

  56. Got nuffin the first couple tries but then suddenly squeeeee! No sign of mommy at the moment, just sleepy lil tater tots ;-)

  57. I don’t know why my original post was deleted. Kika has had 3 litters…October ’08, January ’10, and April ’11. Her litters were 13 months apart. She is well taken care of and well loved. All of the puppies are spoken for before they are ever born. Stop judging people you know nothing about.

  58. kibblenibble says:

Mom and two puptatoes sleepingk, four puptatoes nursingk!

  59. The pups are getting SUCH a leecking right now! And someone just reached in to move a slightly squished puppy and said “you go sit on Mr. Carrot.” :D

  60. If you look at the history of the Shiba cam, it appears she had her first litter in Oct. 2008, second litter in Jan. 2010, and now third litter in April 2011. So that is at least a year between each litter, and perhaps this litter will be her last. (We don’t know, so let’s not assume the worst.)

In any event, the doggie is clearly getting excellent vet care, is not confined to a breeding crate, and has owners who love her. I think we should feel confident that she’s well taken care of.

  61. Silent Meow says:

puptato = a puppeh in the shape and color of a potato.

  62. LOL! That’s not something you hear every day…

  63. Right now all the pups are cuddling against various parts of Momma Kika! SO CUTE!!! <3

  64. I agree. I posted a similar comment but it got killed. :-(

  65. Right now, that’s my favorite sentence.

  66. baby birdie says:
  67. Oh my God, I can’t TAKE IT! The little round tummies! The teeny pink feet! The squeally little yips! My ovaries are going to EXPLODE!!!!

    *scritches monitor*

  68. Why does there always have to be that one troll who can’t be bothered to do the thirty seconds worth or research it would take to disprove their argument? Here, let me help you out here: KIKA IS NOT BEING OVERBRED. This is the third and LAST litter of a well loved and cared for mom.

Accusing every breeder of being cruel and overbreeding when there is NO evidence whatsoever of such a thing makes you sound like a small child who has just learned about dogs and is pointing at every animal with four legs including horses and saying “doggie!”

  69. ahhh, your words fall on deaf ears. trolls are trolls. it’s so hard not to feed them.
