One word. OK.
A song title. This’ll be easy.
Umm, Freebird! No? Umm, Crazy! No? Umm, Help??? Umm…Wipeout???
OMG what are you doooooing?!!!
“Go ahead and JUMP!”
Thanks to Ant for bringing this heart attack video to our attention!
Cute Overload :D
uh?
*GASP*
oh, phew!
Such a brave little pingu. aww.
HOLY MOLY!
I second that emotion!
I third that emoticon!
My heart completely stopped there for a moment. I imagine his did too.
I was right there with you, Rachael! I feared the worst for a second or two…
I was scared to watch because I also feared the worst!
Oh, hooray, so glad he/she made it!
Talk about a cliffhanger! I actually clapped!! Looked like a total loon at work, and I don’t care!
Who says you can’t fly, little buddy?
Another successful graduate of the School of Hard Rocks.
(I believe he completed his degree in a leap year.)
260Oakley, you totally rock. I mean it, really.
Total win for the Oak. It’s gonna be a hard three or four days, being the end of the financial year over here, an’ all that, so I am now tetally set up for it.
“tewtally…..”
A taxing time of the year, is it? Just put your nose to the grindstone, like our little penguin friend almost did, and you’ll be done (or done in) in no time.
*applause*
Mr. Penguin spied a newly opened box of White Cheddar Parmesan Garlic Cheez-Its and not even the Grand Canyon could stop him from reaching his afternoon snack. Nothing gets in the way of me and my Cheez-its.
“Get yer own box!”
“And the fans in the bleachers GO WILD with their approval!!!”
“Except the Buford Bunnies fans, Ted. They don’t quite see what the big deal is. Nothing but disapproving looks from those fans…”
I was so worried!
I was too!! I was at work shrieking at the screen, “Don’t do it!!! Go back!!! Someone help the little penguin!!! Won’t someone help the little penguin???” My colleagues thought I’d dropped my basket.
The background music is ABSOLUTELY PERFECT. Perfection, once again, brought to you by the good folks at Cute Overload.
Penguin parcour!
LOL!
“I Believe I can Fly” would be another soundtrack for this video (although I dislike that song quite a lot).
Pingu for the Olympics!
Penguins have been a bit leery of anything calling itself “Olympics” ever since that whole unpleasant business with the yeti.
Yee-haw!!
Much cuter than David Lee Roth.
prolly sings better, too.
*ducks from rotted foodstuffs, from D.L.R. fans*
The Leap was amazing, but I loved the fact that he landed only 6 inches away from the picnicking woman.
“Oh hello there. Where did you come from?”
A funny comment under the original was something like, “Oh look, a girl, act cool.”
Hee.
*giggles*
And the woman didn’t even help the bird… I’d have rushed to its assistance!
…and scared the wits out of the poor little penguin :X
I suppose she knew that canyon wasn’t as deep as it looked.
“Chariots of Fire” theme music is perfect!
Nah, not perfect. They could have done better with the music.
I totally agree… Perfect theme music for this leap of faith.
Go brave little penguin! (As a Flyers fan I’m not supposed to root for the penguins, but I’ll make an exception.)
I wonder how deep the chasm was, if he’d failed…shudder
A penguin leaping between rocks doesn’t bother me but why does it appear these rocks are located in the freakin’ desert? Is this some new species of penguin that loves the heat and doesn’t need to find its food in the antarctic ocean but rather by bothering tourists for their lunch? And are these penguins moving northward where they’ll cross our borders like the killer bees did!!! No picnicer in Texas or Arizona will be safe from predation ever again !!OMG!!11!!!
gizmo, oh noes, not bees!!!
Um, to be bothered by this pengy you’ll have to picnic at Boulders Beach, South Africa.
(looks around for bees – …wha wazzat?)
I would gladly welcome a penguin infestation in Texas.
Here’s a map of penguins’ habitats. There are no (wild) penguins in the Northern Hemisphere. The farthest north is found in the Galapagos Islands.
http://www.penguins.cl/penguins-region.htm
If you click on the red shaded areas, it will tell you which species of penguin lives in that area.
This is a South African penguin. There are warm-climate penguins.
(grouchy voice) We don’t all live in Antarctica, ya know what I mean?
South Africa or maybe Australia or New Zealand.
There are many different types of penguins that do not reside at the south pole. Fairy penguins being one of them.
Opps that was in response to Gizmos question by the way.
Eeeekkkk I was scared for the Penguin, okay I have fear of hights so I was really scared for the penguin, then I saw the girl and went Hah some one there to rescue in case of not making it, Silly me totally forgeting the camera person.
Phew! That was VERY stressful!
adorable! =)
*sucking air from paper bag*
DON’T EVER DO THAT TO ME AGAIN OR I WILL GROUND YOUR BUTT, MISTER, UNTIL YOU ARE OLD ENOUGH FOR SOCIAL SECURITY!! Now, come here and give me a hug.
Martha —
are you, by any chance, a mother???
Followup question: for how many months did you gestate??
ie: offering you a free opportunity to guilt-trip any of your progeny today.
Why yes, yes, I am. How did you guess? And I don’t use the whole “I suffered for 9 months carrying you” thing. I like the “and I did it TWICE with NO DRUGS!” argument.
Ouch.
Also, better you than me! (ducks and runs)
That penguin is far, far more courageous than I. I was in a cold sweat watching it get ready to jump, and as it landed I truly was afraid it would fall into the abyss. The relief is so great that I must go and lie down now.
*hands you a cold compress before you leave*
He’s been practicing this for weeks to impress the ladies.
heehee! Then he saunters away nonchalantly!
He’s been practicing this for weeks to impress the ladies.
Djeezzz, I nearly had a heartattack!! Did get some serious goosebumps when he/she made it
He’s been practicing this move for weeks to impress the ladies!
How did I appear three times? Sorry, people.
“once, twice, three times a la-yee-deeeeeeeeeeeeeee….”
I was so worried about him!
When those little feet hit the other side with the body way behind, I thought there is no WAY it can make it! What a brave penguin, I could feel the fear in all that hesitating!
My reaction..
*laugh*
*GASP*
JUMMMMMMPPP
That’s like watching my cockatiel when he has to hop more than inch. Flying to things is fine but apparently jumping very small distances takes courage.
Yup. My birds also dislike any perches that move. They get all “Whoa!!! What the hey!! GetmeOFFofhere!” I’m like,
‘um, you do know you are birds, right? birds perch on branches that sway in the breeze, right” They just look at me as if “nope, don’t believe you”
LOVE! It’s a triumph of the penguin spirit!
OMG. I can start breathing again now!
I used to work as a guide at a colony of “Fairy Penguins” also known as Little Penguins, they are the worlds smallest penguin (and also dark blue and white not black and white. A tall one would be around a 1 foot tall. Every night they return to their nests, climbing up granite bolder strewn cliffs basically jumping and waddling up cliffs that even a human couldn’t climb up. It was amazing, I never saw one fall when it was climbing but there were some close calls. It was the best job ever, getting to watch the antics of those guys every night, I still can’t believe they paid me to do it.
jealous!
S/he did it!!!!!! I’m so happy for him/her
The drama, the drama!!!
Yikes!
I can breathe again!
