In one stroke, I will pet them all!

According to Sender-Inner LalaLaurie, the ‘one-stroke pet’ set off a chain-reaction of purrs. They stirred and stretched then assumed their positions and drifted off again.

Don’t Forget! The Itty Bitty Kitty Committee is always on the hunt for good people in the Seattle/Tacoma area to adopt foster kittles.

ah, the lovely Medley family. Check out the itty bitty kitty committee site…one of the tabbies (Freddie Jean) has an affinity for her brother Kirby’s ear. In this pic, Freddie Jean is claiming ownership to her sister (its either Maxine or Beezus, I’m not sure which) . Apparently this little girl needs a security blanket when she naps. ;)

Agreed. IBKC is one of the best sites out there. Beautiful pics and wonderful narrative.

      • Berg says:

Hear, hear! I check the IBKC site regularly, but I am glad to see them get a new post here. Great photos–I am in awe of Laurie’s mad photography and kitten-wrangling skills.

Wouldn’t it be great fun to adopt all six and let them grow old with you? I did that once – took in a pregnant cat and kept her and her babies. The last kitty died at 17 a few years ago. They were a charming addition to my human family. We all had many happy times together! I owned a golden retriever also who was very loving and patient with the playful kittens. Good times and happy memories.

    • Teresa says:

AWW :D That is such a nice story, sabrina rose (nice name) :D What were all those kitties names?

      • sabrina rose says:

I gave them “food” names! Yum Yum (the mom cat, she was the bestest mother to those kittens), Mignon (the only boy), Suzette, and Creampuff.

Laurie’s photography at theittybittykittycommittee.com is so beautiful. Always natural light and always soft, lovely and tender. If you haven’t been to her website, don’t miss it. And she has a wonderful craft blog — so darned talented — and a book coming out !! Oh, and she’s saved many, many kitties. She and CO’s Meg are big heroes of mine. Add in Inhae of mymilktoof.blogspot.com and you have my trio of fave websites.

  28. SamD says:

Kittens resting in the sun have such a nice toasty smell to them. All you need to do is put your face right in the middle of the cluster and inhale deeply. I miss having cats around.

  29. Martha in Washington says:

Damnit Meg, now you have me seriously considering adopting another kittie. And yes, I’m in the “Seattle/Tacoma area”.

there were 5 in the bed and the little one said, “roll over, roll over”

I would love to adopt ALL of the babies who are SO tie tie, but am in Rhode Island so the logistics just don’t work this time…have fostered and kept other kitties ’cause once you meet them, you MUST keep them!

Every time I watch something on Animal Planet about a Family that Fosters somebody, I realize that I couldn’t handle being a Foster Parent and watching them find a Forever Home that isn’t MINE MINE MINE (picture Daffy Duck here)

  34. gryt says:

Per the blog, they laid down like that to nap on their own because there was a sunbeam there… Omg.

  35. Soraya says:

“kittles”? was that intentional? because that’s adorable.

  36. Noelegy says:

Itty Bitty Kitty Committee is one of my Internet “palate cleanser” sites. When I’m stressed or have read too much bad news (I frequent a lot of political sites), I go there, or here, and get my kitteh fix. Aaaaaaaaah.

I don’t know what it is about the face of a sleeping kitten that just does me in every time. I don’t even put up a struggle. It just embodies safe/happy/warm/comfy/content/shnoooz.

And let me just add that the kitties who matriculate from IBKC must be some very lucky and happy kitties indeed!

Say it with me, Troops: “Endorphins”!!!

      or see the following:

      http://www.rainbowaat.org/crisis.html

      [Excerpt]
      — The benefits –

When people touch an animal, endorphins in the brain are released. Endorphins are chemicals [in the brain, which] relieve pain. Simple acts such as smiling or laughing release endorphins. Petting an animal releases these endorphins, and petting a dog usually leads to a smile. Dogs also offer comfort and non-judgmental love.
Studies have proven that even a short time with a dog decreases levels of anxiety and loneliness.

Another thing I love about IBKC: Laurie has a seriously lovely house and very pretty furnishings/carpets/settings for kitteh photography. It’s almost as though (gasp) the whole house is engineered to be a lovely environment for kittehs to play, grow, gambol, sleep, eat, wash, and get their Butterbean socializin’.

(You’d almost think she planned it)

  38. Pam Sinclair says:

I would LOVE to see the “6-cat pat” as a video!

  39. KatieZ says:

I would like to see a world record of longest line of sleeping kitties followed by the longest one-stroke pet of said kitties.

  41. Annie2341 says:

Oh kitties so cute when they are babies. Had to have my Cat (itch) put to sleep this morning and I really thought I wouldn’t be able to come on here for like 6mths but strangely it’s helping

  42. Lewis n' Clark says:

So sorry, Annie 2341. It’s always hard to lose a family member. I hope you know that you are among friends.

  43. Berg says:

There are so many wonderful things about this photo, but I think my favorite part is the little “arm” of the tabby on the far left (Maxine) over the next kitten (Freddie Jean). That is just so adorable.

And Annie 2341, my condolences to you, too. : (

  44. Queen of Dork says:

Oh my goodness! Oodles and oodles of skoodle boodles! (The scientific term for a litter of kittens).

Annie: Hang in there. I’m so sorry to hear about that. It’s quite painful. I’m hugging you!
