Sunbeam Action X4

Here is four times the proof needed to show that Rule of Cuteness #40 is so true:

Sender-Inner Ant foraged this one via Neatorama via The Agitator via Reddit via KimberleyKitty.

  1. BatBlaster says:

    What was rule 40 again?

  2. O NO He/ She/ It DI-unt!!! says:

I don’t remember Rule 40 but these critters do know how to achieve their objective in an orderly, systematic fashion. “Single file”, no less!!!

  3. And the spacing…. each one has his or her own personal sunbeam area!

  4. (The Original) Mel says:

    Make room for me.

  5. Holy Shmolies — is it coinkidental? Cute X4 and Rule #4-0 … I think NOT!

Cute is indeed the center of the universe! Either that, or some uber-ultra-powerful Ad Agency has us all marked.

Strange, I seem to have a craving for pudding… ?

  6. THIS is what makes CO special!

  7. You’re telling me the light isn’t coming from them?

  8. Birdcage says:

    Ain’t that something!

  9. I believe it!

  10. Does this mean it’s 10am in binary?

  11. What a great visual for me — only hours ago our dog passed away, and she looked amazingly like the dog at the top, closest to the door.

She was the sweetest, most toe-lickingest, and probably roundest Pit Bull ever…

I can now think of her lounging in the great sunbeam in the sky!

  12. It looks like they are being transported up to the mother ship just outside the door…

  13. Aw, Shelley, I’m so sorry for your loss. Hugs.

  14. Mary (the first) says:

    Sweet! And hugs to Shelley

  15. Strange question, but does anyone know if the Maru kitty and his owner are okay in Japan?

  16. OMG! THAT would be sooo cool!! I will now think of our dog as off having adventures in some other galaxy, with lots of sunbeams everywhere.

  17. And they prolly can bring her back to life too… and then get their toeses licked! (if they have toeses that is).

  18. Even if they just have suction cups, it would still be worth it.

  19. As long as her tongue didn’t get stuck onto one of the toes — that might not be that great.

  20. Janis, Maru and his owner are both safe. Think this was the question on many people’s minds as there was a post on it. 🙂

  21. Maru is just fine his owner has made 2 posts since the quake saying they are fine. the latest post on his blog reads. “Maru experienced earthquakes too, but he is not frightened now. Thank you for a lot of emails and messages. And thank you for praying for Japan. Maru is very cheerful.”

    marus blog:

  22. They’re recharging their solar batteries.

  23. Ali-baba says:

Oh my, now I’m picturing your sweet doggy running after ET’s cousin, then trading hello growls and woofs with Chewbacca before getting scritches from Yoda.
My fur kids and I are sending you hugs and warm thoughts.

  24. Elge Premeau says:

I have had just a crap-ola week and this picture made it all go away 🙂

  25. Ditto! Looks like a perfect way to spend an afternoon!

  26. BatBlaster says:

Oh yeah sleeping in sunbeams. Isn’t it for warmth. Yay I got first comment. I am wondering, why don’t you guys have more bats here.

  27. BatBlaster says:

I was gonna say the same thing lol beat me to it.

    Maru experienced earthquakes too,
but he is not frightened now.
Thank you for a lot of emails and messages.
And thank you for praying for Japan.
    Maru is very cheerful.

  28. Hon Glad says:

    Sharing sunbeams is the best.

  29. They are so totally powerless against the beam. It almost looks like it is some dangerous laser that has struck them down. Don’t wander into the dangerous beam, puppy! or you’ll … zzzzzz …….

  30. i’m worried for the last guy….. he’s falling off the beam! >_<

  31. I bet they fight over that first spot by the door, they dont’ have to move to follow the sunbeam!

  32. And the variety among puppage. Well done, all!!

  33. I wondered about Maru. Good news. I’m sure that there are too many others of our sisters and brothers in the Cute — human, furry, feathered, scaley and otherwise — who are not so fortunate. Such sadness.

  34. He still has critical belleh coverage. No worries. Might be strategic: Warm belleh, cool back. That’s nice too.

  35. Kelley, I’m so sorry. May many sunbeams warm your heart today.

  36. Shelley, so sorry to hear of your loss. But know that lots of us on CO understand how you must be feeling–and that you’ll see your pup again at the Rainbow bridge!

  37. O NO He/ She/ It DI-unt!!! says:

–eez about sunbeams. CuteOverload has made the blue link click-able in the title/ headline above the photos!!! I (heart) CO 🙂

  38. NurseNoir says:

Condolences to you, Shelley. Of course, your round Pit Bull (love that!) will always be with you in spirit, but the loss of the warm, smoochable part is hard to bear. So many of us have been there and we’re all here for you now. The world is better for having had your beloved dog in it.
    {{{ HUGS }}}

  39. I wonder if there is a pecking order as to who gets the front spot and then a hierarchy as to who gets what spot…? I think some animal behavior kinda person should research this.. 🙂

  40. Shelley, so sorry for the loss of your sweet pibble.

  41. NurseNoir says:

At least a couple of these pups are dachshunds or part-dachsies. The warm, corn-chippy, red-dog scent in that room must be overpowering!!!!
    Mmmmm… warm red dogs… *ghrghrghrghrghr*…

  42. I was thinking, “dogs flying in formation.”

  43. Shelley, I’m sorry for your loss. I’m imagining her now in sunbeam that will follow her until you can see her again.

  44. This is like…the best thing I’ve ever seen. Sooo cute!!

  45. Mary (the first) says:

Have y’all seen the photo of the lions? I don’t know how to attach clips but if you go to and search for “lion in summer” there’s a cool photo there, reminiscent of this. Apparently it’s a cross-species inclination to lie in the sunbeam!

  46. Just checked out the lion pics. Reverse action in that the lions are seeking shade. Very cool pic! Thanks for posting about it! 😮

  47. Good one, Nikki.

  48. Not so strange, Janis.

  49. MamaLana says:

I feel so good, hearing that Maru and human are okay.

  50. Awesomeness!!!!!!!!!!!! Also, everything in that room looks clean and intact – very impressive considering the number of doggies!!!!

  51. Shelly, I’m so sorry for your loss. I’m sure your girl is warm and safe, and napping cozily in a sunbeam, thinking happy thoughts of her love-filled life with you. I hope you can smile when you think of your fuzzy angel in the days to come.

  52. The indubitable rule of napping in a sunbeam. From the shadows I think I can tell what time it is in dog hours. I mean, they live in dog years so the dog hour should be calculable too right?

  53. I LOVE when my doggie does that!! SO CUTE!

  54. I agree–definitely some dachshunds there–and I’m sure they have that warm, toasty doxie smell!!!! Doxies lurrrrrrve them some sunbeams!

  55. JOANN DUNN says:

In our house, we call this a dogipelago, or a pupipelago, as the case may be.

  56. I just love this picture. There’s nothing better than animals in the sun.

  57. This is definitely an all time favorite!!

  58. Ruffian9 says:

Whew. Good one indeed. Thanks Nikki

  59. Ruffian9 says:

    I like it too……..

  60. Ruffian9 says:

    House of puppies & sunbeams…sigh
