I understand the need for moderation but I have a house bun and buns on wire = pain = dangerous. It just is.
Ugh – you don’t know whether it’s painful, that’s anthropomorphizing. All we do know is that being *kept* on wire *may* cause sore hocks.

This article doesn’t apply to this situation, the bun doesn’t ‘live’ in a cage with a wire floor, he’s just on top of his cage for a few minutes!

BTW the url you pasted says rabbits shouldn’t be kept on a wire floor, which I believe refers to extended time periods, not occasional plopping them on the top of a cage and blowing a hair dryer at them.

The bun was only on the wire tempor-hare-aly, so no biggie.
Definitely with you on that, PJ. Know of too many buns with broken limbs (and some put down) as a result of situations with cages like this, plus panic. I prefer a tight mesh rather than gappy slats… Let’s just pretend there’s some clear plastic laminate there that we don’t see, protecting this New Jersey bun (sorry, just going with the big hare schtick).
Maybe the bun loves it, and they do this all the time – we don’t know. Don’t assume the worst!
Nuffers always assume the worst about every situation – that’s why they are nuffers. And it’s why I get almost depressed if I read the comments here too often… It’s just draining to see that bleak, negative attitude too much.

PJ, enuff. Bun is not being kept on wire. Nor are feet on wire. Bun is resting on top with legs dangling between wire — and floor of cage is not wire. And obv bun is well cared for.

The bunny slaves here know whereof they speak, and it’s not about sore hocks. (Though that’s a concern, too.) It’s about bunnies getting a limb through the slats and then freaking out, and then breaking the limb and either getting it amputated or being put down. Happens a lot, especially with first-time slaves. It is completely avoidable, if people know. Let’s just take the (second) opportunity to make people aware, so we can have fewer tripod bunnies. I don’t think that warrants pudding and popcorn… but I can always eat, so whatevs.
