    BEST (Worst?) SPLAYAGE EVAH!!!

(otoh, the Privacy Tail Department could use some assistance)

  2. Am I the only one who thinks this is not so much funny as dangerous? What if the cat hadn’t been able to get back out? (Note: we don’t have any pictures of THAT). She could have been hurt!

Sorry, but this one’s going into the “boo” file. :-(

    • Bleen says:

Then the people recording it would have laughed their heads off before pulling the cat out.

      • bookmonstercats says:

Such a huge trapped kitty would have made the pot rock like one mighty mama, so someone would have realised and broken the pot to let her out.

      • O NO He/She/It DI-unt!!! says:

surprised that Theo didn’t “getcha”. He’s allergic to bleen.

    • Kirsten says:

Go to their youtube page, there is an escape sequence! Fat cat gets out with surprising agility.

    • This one scared me too. I think it’s kind of mean to laugh at kitty while she’s stuck. But it is cute when she finally gets in and her tail is waving about.

    • Hannah Skoonberg says:

Worst case scenario they have a good laugh and break the pot to get the cat out.

    • Gigi says:

You don’t have cats do you?
I can tell you from experience that cats, fat or not will get in and out of places you would swear the could not. If they can get in, they can get out.

      • Michael says:

Actually, my cat has gotten stuck in the lounge chair and needed extraction before someone sat on and crushed her.

Then again, knowing pots…. she was in little danger save some embarrassment.

    • btf says:

i also do not think this is a real good idea. i would prefer to be safe rather than stand around laughing like an idiot about a potential dangerous prank. and i do have cats.

    • karen says:

Cats can fit wherever their head fits. This cat was fine the whole time!

    • MJ says:

If a cat’s head and shoulders fit through an opening, the rest of it will fit. It was well supervised and the humans were there to pull it out in case it got truly stuck.

    • HappyDude says:

I see your point but at the same time I doubt they taught this cat how to do this. They probably saw him/her doing it and decided to get out the video camera. Also if you go to their YouTube page you can watch the fat kitty get out.

      • GD says:

In the second video they mentioned her eating it upside down. I think they put treats in the bottom. Also, notice in the first video the woman reached in to pull something out at the end.

    • muttluver says:

You don’t know many cats, do you?

    • Harpocrates23 says:

If a cat can fit her head into something they can get out. They are smarter than you think. They use the whiskers as guidance for everything. You should learn more about cats before judging!

    • Mary says:

Are you freaking serious? Have you ever owned, met, or seen a cat in real life EVER? Even a fat one like this can contort themselves into places I’m sure you could never get your tochis.
Also, seriously, there are people *right there*. Obviously a pet’s owner is going to stand there and just herp-derp if their pet has a problem getting out [????] What planet do you live on?

      • GD says:

Really? So why are so many pictures of small children biting or squeezing the stuffings out of the family pet circulating on the web as “funny”. Very unfunny to me!

    • GD says:

      I agree with you!!!

    • Jonah says:

Like Big Gripe I also had a hard time enjoying the video. I was too worried about the cat. Not so much it not escaping once inside the pot. More damage to organs or bones during the push in. I’ve previously heard what several above say (if the head fits the body will fit fine) but I’m not so convinced. Sounds like some folksy belief that might be true in many cases but not all. Is there some science that confirms it? Humans get stuck or hurt, while caving for example, even when they think they know what their body can handle so why not cats? I’d stay on the safe side and not lure the cat into the pot.

      • brinnann says:

I don’t think he squishing any organs by squeezing in there. Just his chub.

        • Jonah says:

I hope you’re right. One thing is sure, cats bodies are amazingly flexible, like furry rubber bands. It kind of hurts just imagining myself squeezing into a giant pot like the cat does in the video. XD

          • amber says:

There is, in fact, science behind that, as well as completely disconnected collar bones to allow for enhanced squeeze-through-age.

  3. Birdcage says:

I call Muffin Toppage, first video.

  4. Snorgler says:

BG, I thought of that too. But it doesn’t look like a valuable pot. They could just break it. And I have to admit I laughed till I cried!

  5. corianne says:

Cat: “Sheesh, you never see Maru getting stuck like that…”

Big Gripe: Did you notice all the people standing around to help? Worst case scenario, if he had gotten stuck, the could have broken the pot to let him out.

Besides, Cats are made out of silly-putty. They’re (usually) really good at knowing what size of opening they can get though.

  6. Maribeth says:

What would Maru do with a pot like that?

  7. muffy says:

Oh squishy one, you should get together with Maru.

  8. Amused says:

I don’t think the cat would have gone in a hole that was too small to get out of. That was funny! Made me a little uncomfortable, not for the cat, for me thinking of trying to move like that :~)

  9. Esther says:

Especially in the first video, it looked like an octopus!

Obviously this was something the cat had done before. There was a treat at the bottom of the pot, to induce the very photogenic wiggling.

  10. 260Oakley says:

Cat hopes they legalize pot soon, ’cause now he’s really into it.

  11. wuyizidi says:

Hmm, judging by the area of difficulty, if Señor Muffintop just skips the next meal or two, he’ll be able to get out without the help of a hammer.

  12. llism says:

“Am I the only one who thinks this is not so much funny as dangerous? What if the cat hadn’t been able to get back out?”

Really? Now we’re nuffing the natural behavior of cats? Good grief.

    • dawnkeyotie says:

Yes. Perhaps we should genetically modify cats so that they no longer wriggle in and out of tight spots. Also, perhaps we could also modify them so that they don’t want to kill other little critters. And while we’re at it, let’s modify that urge to jump since jumping is dangerous.

Then we can all get pets that are 100% safe/cruelty free/pc and otherwise lame. Perhaps stuffed animals? Not the real ones, of course.

  13. Poor kitteh! Obviously no one ever read her any A A Milne!

  14. Linda says:

That was me getting into my tummy control tights.

  15. Theresa says:

    All the cats in France
    Do the hootchy-kootchy dance!

  16. Louisa says:

The laughing was a little creepy in the first video… >.>

    • mamabear says:

OMG yes! I thought it was a parakeet screeching in the background until they panned over to the human. Mah ears are bleeding.

    • Brandi says:

LOL My scottie did not appreciate the creepy cackling – he let me know by throwing back his head and howling. :P

  17. kris says:

    omg.
too funny, laugh right out loud at work!!

  18. Martha in Washington says:

I’ve always heard that if a cat’s whiskers will fit than the cat will fit. I think this cat’s whiskers fit just fine. Only his pride was hurt. And it was incredibly funny!

  19. Teya says:

Ok so who else saw the title and now canNOT get the song from Aladdin out of their heads?? Just me?? I’ll be singing “you ain’t never had a friend like me” for the rest of the day!

  20. Redscylla says:

    Well played, Oakley.

And I can’t believe this one sparked nuffing. Yes, how very, very cruel to stand by laughing while a cat of its own free will wriggles into a pot… Errr…

  21. Flavia A. says:

    The escape sequence:

  22. THe pudgy butt wiggle just killed me HEheheheh!

    • O NO He/She/It DI-unt!!! says:

      yay “pudgy butt wiggle”!!

Yup. My immaturity has reached new lows today.

  23. Fluffy says:

Somebody should have goosed the cat when its butt was sticking out.

  24. Pheas says:

Is it right to laugh at the dignity-impaired?

(Not saying I didn’t, mind you.)

  25. jujube says:

    LMAO!!!!! Fuzz-butt is so kyoot!

  26. mamabear says:

That’s ME trying to get into last year’s jeans!

On a calming note, I’ve teched for a vet for over 10 years. I can’t tell you how many people have called to freak that their cat was in a tree or in the attic crawspace or a ‘tight’ spot. Every time one of the vets has reassured them that if a cat can get in (or up), it can get out (or down). Every time, they have been right.

Cats are natural contortionists and LOVE to get into hidey places, hence the paper bag obsession, the climber/scratching boxes with the small holes, the sleeping spot behind the fridge. It’s cozy.

  27. debkakes says:

The only thing that made me uncomfortable here was anticipating the “nuffing” that would arise. And sure enough! Yes, folks, cats have an excellent sense of what they can wriggle into and out of!

  28. vern says:

    Periscope depth…

  29. metsakins says:

Those hoomans will regret their laughter.

    now sure how

    or when

but cat’s always get their revenge ; )

  30. Buffy says:

    Oh for heaven sake!
If I freaked out everytime my 19 lb, super tall kitteh crawled into a space that my 4lb chihauhau couldn’t get in. My Kitteh wouldn’t have much of a life. Cats are designed in the most amazingly slinky, stretchy, squishy, bouncy ways. That’s why they have nine lives. I had a cat once, who ripped a ligament just walking across the carpet. You never know .

so relax and let your cat be a cat

  31. Rebecca says:

No wonder the cat is so fat, the peeps keep giving him treats to get him in and out of the pot. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

  32. kris says:

    bacon!!!!!

  33. LisaL says:

Too funny!! Love in the first video how the fat just sort of rolls over the top. I would’ve been so tempted to squeeeeesh it with my fingers if I had been there.

  34. debg says:

My belly hurts from laughter pains. Way, way better than cramps.

  35. Mary (the first) says:

Love it! The escape sequence especially made me LOL. This is why I love cats, they are SO SILLY sometimes. And yet they think they’re so dignified and can get huffy if you laugh at them, but who wouldn’t laugh!? They’re just silly!!

  36. *plays oboe to “charm” tail*

  37. J. says:

Looks like Maru has some competition!

OMG, I so want to rush right out and buy a vase just like that one so that maybe my big fat torbi cat, Flora, who looks just like the kitty in the video, will be tempted to climb into it. :-) Bwahahahaha!

  38. MommaMackie says:

Cats are made of rawhide and rubber, covered with a layer of foam and wrapped in a fabulous fur coat. Yes, if the cat can get in, the cat can get out.

  39. Saffron says:

    Kitteh needs some Spanx

  40. Rosewolf says:

Aaah! So adorable! I wanna just squeeze the squishy kitty.

It amazes me where kitties will fit themselves. I’ve had cats squeeze into places I’d swear only a cricket could go! (Maybe that’s what they were after…hmm…)

  41. ElishaB says:

Whew, glad the escape video was posted! Cat owners KNOW that cats are crazy critters and can get out of almost any space. Cute videos!!!

  42. AuntieBellum says:

I can’t decide if this is “Ehn!” or “Oof!”

  43. shortperson210 says:

zomg – too funny…. i agree i must get a vase to see if my fatty cats will attempt this…
great video saved to faves =^..^=

  44. Mudbug says:

O.k. that was just toooooooo funny !
Tomorrow I WILL start making a new line of “Kitty Pots” for my shop! They won’t be wood fired like that pot but I think I’ll make two types. One that stands up like the pot in the video & the other will be one that’s designed to lay down on the floor just in case a kitties servant thinks their cat might tip it over & break it.
o.k. now where did I put my design pad ……..

    • J Wilson says:

Please make a pot that comes apart in the middle..Sort of a “twist-off”..For those kitty mommas like me that worry so!

    • Wend says:

Oooooh, Mudbug, I can’t wait!!! think of all the potential videos!!! And I can just imagine looking down into the “flatter” version, and seeing how the cat has “conformed”.

  45. chanpon says:

Tail sticking out of pot = win.

  46. J Wilson says:

Its only cute if its legal! This kitteh needs “pothab”!

  47. b says:

I think this is funny and adorable. I don’t think it’s mean to laugh – I somehow know that those two laugh at everything. And their fat cat in the pot is just brilliant. Best cute overload this week.

  48. Teresa says:

 That kitty reminds me of the time when our dear departed white male cat, Spot (named because he had three tiny spots on his head) was squeezing his fat body through the cat door to the large sundeck and a vehicle backfired  I had to push Spot’s butt through the cat door because his back legs were not getting any purchase  I opened the door to the sundeck and Spot shot back inside  Spot was fine  I gave him pets

  49. Glad to see the escape sequence! ;)

  50. Karate Mom says:

I love this video!! All of them, actually!

One thing I noticed in the escape sequence was how easily he went IN that time. There was hardly any hesitation, so it makes me think that the first time he wasn’t actually stuck, just trying to figure out how to make things work. Especially since it was pitch black, what with his floofy hiney blocking out all the light!

  51. blair says:

cute cat. fun ride, but even on mute that cackling pierced an eardrum.

but now i have an extra place to store jelly bellies, so it’s not a total nuff.

  52. Mudbug says:

@J Wilson : Not to worry “J ” I’ll just make the top opening big enough so kitty momma’s don’t have to be concerned. I have a couple of BIG guys I can use for measurements.
@ Wend: Oooooh ! I like the flatter pot shape idea ! My original thought was to just have a flat spot on one side of a round pot but I like the more flattened pot idea ! :0)

  53. knot krisp says:

What! No video of the grand exit? So cute! My parents have a tabby cat with the same interests. Luckily he realized a couple years ago that he doesn’t quite fit so well any more.

  54. mplsdeb says:

Well, first of all that 2nd video where his tale is twirling before he finally gets in is too funny. Then the periscope thingee going on.
Secondly, cats are too smart to get stuck in anything. It’s humans that are the stupes who get stuck in places they ought not go in the first place.
That cat reminds me of my late stinky.

  55. Shana says:

Oy vey, nuffers! Kitty is hilarious! The youtube description tells about how Annie loved to get into pots as a smaller gal, and hadn’t quite mastered a graceful entrance and exit now that she’s so bootylicious. Love the tailio periscope. My own big boys are irked that I haven’t brought them any inappropriately small boxes/containers for them to smoosh themselves into lately…

  56. chocolate says:

feed your cat till it’s fat and then laugh about it. way to go guys. way to go.

  57. spb says:

Bottom line (so to speak)… cats and Gumby have a lot in common.

  58. Julie says:

Beautiful cat and a beautiful saggar fired pot!….would not have wanted to break that one to rescue silly kitteh.
