Good Gourd, This is Ridiculous.

“Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Which one of us would also make a great pie?”

Scaredy cats, Alicia M.

Comments

  1. IT is pugalicious!

  2. Are we ready for Pug-kin pie?

  3. The ones on the left and right would make a great cutie-pie!

  4. Three pugs in a pod!

  5. Roll over text is ROFLMAO!

  6. Very lovely carving! This photo is a “keeper”!

  7. I got a rock. :(

  8. skippymom says:

    Worried dogs are worried.

  9. Awww very cute ;)

  10. The one on the left looks like he’s thinking:
“You’re not going to put that up on that cute web site right? The guys at the dog park will never let me live it down. Please dont!!!”

  11. mitzithecat says:

I’m not the biggest fan of pugs, but I LOVE the face on the left! He looks like he really is afraid he’ll go in the pie! Such a little “scaredy dog”.

  12. I am in awe of these pugkin carving skills… and of the hovertext, natch.

The one on the left looks just a bit more worried to me than the one on the right. Perhaps Gigi is right and that little one is imagining taunts-to-come at the dog park.

  13. bookmonstercats says:

I love pugs and pun-kins and Halloween. And now all three together. No trick, all treat.

  14. “Yeah, every time we go out at night he has to get lit. What do you expect? He’s got pulp for brains.”

  15. @260Oakley: YAY!

  16. Is this travesty supposed to be representational of us?

  17. Bwaahaaaa 260O!! Pugelicious Pulp Phiction…

  18. Re: “Which one of us would also make a great pie?”
Actually, one of the best pies I’ve ever had was made by a pug. They just seem to have a way with pastry.

  19. Hey, Sharpy! What is the ‘Reply’ dealie below our comments? As you can tell, I’m not very sharp!

  20. You hoo Sharpy, could we have the number by each comment back please. :)

  21. IT says “IT’s the great pugkin charlie brown!” HEhehehehe

  22. @ skippymom – Tee he he :)

  23. Thanks Hon Glad, and I second your request that we get the numbers back.

  24. I don’t think they can do the numbered deliio with the reply to specific comment thingy ma jigger.

that being said I prefer it the old way…so that I can easily read new comments.

this way it becomes a big jumble but then that is just me. I am an orderly kind of gal like that you know the kind… ducks in a row… spices in alphabetical order….Tools on work desk lined up straight .. big and little paper clips in their own container.

  25. Ohhh Hahahah I just got it… I forgot about that from the cartoon HEhehehe!

  26. Awesome! Love the expression on the two “real” pugs’ pugs. :-)

  27. Cat food cans stacked so that all the labels line up exactly.

  28. :) Exactly!!!!

  29. *wild applause*

  30. I dunno, HG? Are you a pug?

  31. He also used to be very seedy. But now he’s just a shell of his former self.
Did we mention he was also a prize-winning pugilist?

  32. woah, there’s a “Reply” feature now?!

p.s. pugs have the softest ears EVER. I thought nothing could beat the grey (pictured) but my neighbor-puglet wins in the ear fuzzies department.

  33. I think he’s actually a corgi, Theresa. Hence the indignation.

  34. @skippymom

    >>Thanks Hon Glad, and I second your request that we get the numbers back.

let’s see how it goes for awhile. from my point of view, i never see the number you guys refer to. what i see now is “in reply to skippymom,” which is a HUGE improvement, believe me.

  35. I LOVE ducks in a row!

  36. @hon glad

    >>You hoo Sharpy, could we have the number by each comment back please.

actually, i have nothing to do with that. it’s a new feature that is part of a larger system tweak meant to fix a number of problems we’ve been having. you probably can’t see what i see, but the numbers don’t appear on my end, so i never know what you’re referring to. i see a long list of comments and they’re aren’t organized. when there are 6 posts being discussed at once, it’s really hard to figure out what’s going on! the new version shows “in reply to hon glad” and i can go directly to your comment and get the context more quickly.

it’s super helpful for me, which means i’ll be in a better mood and everyone wants sharpy to be in a good mood or i’ll send you to the corn.
    :)

    bear with us, okay?

  37. @flutterby: it’s news to me, too! i hope it helps!

  38. Okey dokey. We trust you.

  39. @skippymom: well, let’s not go overboard. ;)

  40. Sharpy, why can’t I reply to your reply? I wanted to acknowledge that I was being rather reckless in stating that we trust you. (Just trying to kiss up to the Mod, you know.)

  41. Smartarse :)

  42. I like the reply part in that it goes to whom it is intended for and all peeps don’t have to read my twaddle.

  43. Least ways I think that’s right.

  44. @skippymom: geez, i’m a know-it-all, but i don’t know everything!

  45. It’s probably set to next comments only to a certain level, and any additional “replies” just fall below the last comment in that level.

  46. @auntibellum: BANG-BANG-BANG-SAW-SAW-HAMMER-SAW-CLICK-CLATTER-BOOM!!-WHISTLE-BANG-CREAK-FOOTSTEPS..

okay, let’s see if that works.

  47. skippymom says:

    (blows kisses at Hon Glad)

  48. skippymom says:

I like the way the succeeding replies cascade down the page. It’s pretty!

  49. @sharpy testing reply levels to see where this reply ends up! Because I’m in that kind of a mood. Will my reply be nested or moved up a level or two? Let’s find out!

Also, love the pumpkin face and the hovertext! I’m off to wait for the Great PugKin!

  50. victoreia says:

This way does make getting references to previous comments easier. (And I get confuzzled quite easily.)

  51. I’m impressed. I set my dogs to caving a jack o’ lantern and the results were…let’s just say, less than impressive.

  52. Gigi, I knew they were worried about something, but I just couldn’t put my finger on it.

  53. lolololol, as usual!! :)

  54. oh, you would like my pantry!

  55. I want a pug o’ lantern!

  56. I’ll take two orders of twaddle to go, please.

  57. bob drummond says:

Kinda makes me want take up pumpkin carving my self but i’ll probably start out as DaVinci and end up like Norman Bates.

  58. O NO He/She/it DI-unt!!! says:

    wow and also wow!!!! :)

    Tres skilled, ma’am!!!

  59. O NO He/She/it DI-unt!!! says:

(attempting to stifle the SLIGHTEST hint of a *snerk*)

    (Not succeeding entirely….)

(so concludes by also blowing kisses @ HG)

  60. O NO He/She/it DI-unt!!! says:

jeez I can’t get this diagramming correct. the item timed as 5:56 was S’POSED to go, under HG’s “smartarse” comment.

Mea culpas in all direcshons ….

    (eyeroll, at MYSELF!!!!)

    Signed,
    “gah.”

  61. O NO He/She/it DI-unt!!! says:

ok I”m trying to let skippymom know, that her (parenthetical clause) of 12:19 pm was particularly deeeelightful. Howsomever, evidently I”m late to the party of responding to skippymom cuz mine is under several otros.

FWIW, I luuurrve the concept of responding up at a partic’lar person’s point (p/cubed? math bit, there :)

however if at some point in time The ComputerCuteness Universe can provide the comment #’s, that is also a useful reference/ balance thinggie.

Peace to People and Pugs (P/ cubed, the Second!!!)

  62. O NO He/She/it DI-unt!!! says:

I ain’t often seen much, in the way o’ twaddle, frum Senor Hon Glad!!!!

  63. I come here specially for Hon Glad’s twaddle…

  64. But now the problem is that I can’t tell just by looking at the last number if I’m all caught up on a commentroversy. Used to be I’d be all…OK I’ve read up to 63, and then check back for new gems as the day goes by. Now there are no numbers I can’t do that, AND replies are scattered up the list as people chime in on earlier comments. Oh dear I don’t know how I’ll keep up! I suppose we’ll adjust but I sure would hate to miss out on any of the Cute. Specially don’t want to pass up any of Hon Glad’s twaddle…

  65. O NO He/She/it DI-unt!!! says:

    I agree 300 % with both Skippymom’s (of 1:13) and with Victoreia’s (of 1:39 pm)
I also am among those who becomes computer confuzzled quite easily.

Sk/mom: A friend of mine who spent a month doing DEEP ACADEMIC touristy things @ Washington DC this summer…..sent me an email saying he had not answered something I wrote, very promptly, b/c he was busy “looking at shiny things”!!!! Kinda reminds me of how it felt when I watched the cascading cuteness thinggie.

and, yes, my computer world is entirely 3rd-world
(a 5-yr old NON APPLE laptop with a broken hinge, no printer, etc.)

however, so far, I have *NOT YET * found it necessary,
to resort to Duck/ Duct Tape, so,

    “it could be worser”…..

  66. O NO He/She/it DI-unt!!! says:

    so vewwy twue.

  67. O NO He/She/it DI-unt!!! says:

“Actually, one of the best pies I’ve ever had was made by a pug.”

REALLY, sk? The mind boggles….or puggles…or something.
    “Eeeez a puzzlement….”

  68. O NO He/She/it DI-unt!!! says:

glad if it is a “good thing” for sharpy & Los Moderators!!!!

  69. O NO He/She/it DI-unt!!! says:

wow somebody ELSE (kittyadv, 11:01 am)
who separates the paper clips into “small” “large” and — when relevant — “ridiculously huge”???

(I found these ones made of thick stainless steel, truly about 4″ long; more a desktop decoration/ accessory than intended for pedestrian gathering of 3 pages and YES I really did go that far, with my office supplies and LABELLED THE boxes as to sizes, etc.)

(TRUE odd story #2: in a move a few yrs ago, I marked one of my boxes that was large and packed with lots of books, as follows: “Heavy as a Cow”.)

    (sigh) OCD’s mah name …..

  70. O NO He/She/it DI-unt!!! says:

    @ Sharpy: nice tinkering, they-uh, ma’am

(I giggled out loud when I read that.
Your sound FX rather put me to mind,
of Dick Van Dyke tinkering away in his inventions shed in the mo-picture Chitty Chitty Bang! Bang!)

  71. @bob drummond: and the problem is…?

  72. @O NO: ‘Tis.

(And that’s La Moderatrix, thank you.)

  73. @O NO: hey, are you a gardener? because you just planted one helluva ear worm!

    p-tooey!

  74. oh those lil pugs soo cutie! the one on the left looks like he needs, really
really needs a valium or some sort of relaxer!!!!

  75. LOL Well i for one am a huge fan of HON GLAD twaddle

  76. You see my point now about my ducks in a row?

  77. pugnacious Pug Pups prepare pug portrait pugkin for pugparatzi pictures.

Whew try to say that three times in a row!

  78. Oh, can I get some cinnamon sprinkled on that twaddle? Thanks.

  79. O NO He/She/It DI-unt!!! says:

    “thunderous applause”

    (“and the crowd GOES WILD!!!”)

  80. man, it’s so good to know there are other obsessive neat freaks like me! even withe 11 cats in the house, I try…

  81. EXACTLY!!

  82. One of my other lists (www.deathlist.net if you must know, and yes, I’m a ghoul) has a feature where you can see a list of the posts which have been made since the last time you logged in. Perhaps not a feature on WordPress blogs??

  83. Now THAT feature would be super cool! (and I absolutely love it that one of our CO peeps is also a fan of something called Deathlist… yin/yang, don’cha know!

  84. TrixandSam says:

I’d like an order of twaddle with chili and cheese sauce please.

  85. bob drummond says:

    dear Sharpy
Iknow my own skills and sculpting is not one of them.
As far as Norman Bates goes ,all he did was stab the
daylights out of his subjects. Nothing artistic in that.

  86. warrior rabbit says:

The problem now is that you have to reread the comments every time you visit the page, in order not to duplicate someone else’s (or miss someone else’s). Before you just had to check the bottom and find where you’d left off. This may well kill my policy of reading all before posting.

  87. warrior rabbit says:

Exactly! And as someone who reads all comments first, this makes that terribly difficult. I can’t read them all (or scan them all) multiple times just to see who squeezed in upthread somewhere when I wasn’t looking. I think I do prefer un-nested.

  88. Denise A. says:

But remember, Norman Bates was a skilled taxidermist!

  89. O NO He/She/It DI-unt!!! says:

am indeed glad of Tha Greater Good.

    and:
in re: (And that’s La Moderatrix, thank you.)
    So Noted!!! :)

  90. that’s good idea, n. fritz. it might require readers to log in, but i’ll snoop around.

  91. @bob: i don’t know, maybe if you checked into n. fritz’s link you’d find otherwise.

  92. Pug O’ Lantern!

One of my coworkers sent me the link to this jack o’ lantern stencil this morning; glad to see how nicely it turned out! I will carve a pug-kin this weekend; I am thinking it would look cute with a little curlicue tail cut out in the back.

More doggie pumpkin stencils here: http://www.bhg.com/holidays/halloween/pumpkin-carving/pumpkin-carving-stencils-of-favorite-dogs/?page=19

  93. Me too. the un-nested. Do you think they’ll take our opinions into consideration? ;)

  94. O NO He/She/It DI-unt!!! says:

    AB-so-RUTE-ree!!!
(at least, judging from my own experience with CO’s Uberlords/ladies….)

  95. What do you all think of the “Notify me of follow-up comments via email” feature? If it works the way I think it does, it’s really easy to read comments as they arrive and in the order of the thread to which it was posted. Okay, now I’m confusing myself. Where were you?

  96. CeeJoe—- ELEVEN cats!!!???!?!?!

  97. I happen to like twadddle.
Please, sir, Could I ‘ave some moar” (in pitiful, starving orphan voice)

  98. Thank you Sharpy!!!

  99. I don’t think I’m OCD but I found myself colour coordinating my clothes pegs to the colour of the clothes, as I hung my washing out, maybe I’m an aesthete.

  100. Sharpy, that speech bubble suspiciously resembles those of Bill the Cat. amirite?

  101. I got a pack of gum, I got 3 pieces of candy, I got a rock.
    -Lol-

  102. Awsome Can-D says:

    it’s a pugpin! XD

  103. O NO He/She/It DI-unt!!! says:

wow now THAT’s an eye fur detail, indeedy!!!

  104. So um, not to change the subject or anything, but does anyone know what happened to the last post? It was “This just in: Cute or Sad Action” and featured the fainting goat kittens, but now the link in my RSS feed redirects to a 404. I saw there were 208 comments and was looking forward to a good commentroversy. I even prepared my apple cider and kettle corn. :(

  105. fainting kittens? we have no idea what you’re talking about. you seem to have been misinformed.

    you are number 7

  106. People whinged, and CO caved. So it’s gone.

  107. But… why? Don’t get me wrong, I support CO’s right to do what they will, I’m just confused. I don’t recall that commentroversy has ever before inspired Our Great and Fearless Leader to delete an entire post.

  108. warrior rabbit says:

I agree, normally they let it stand and I’m all for it, but this was sort of an ongoing thing and both kittens have since died, so… Perhaps it was just as well that they removed it. If it had been four months on and they were doing great, then that would be another story, I think.

  109. Fair enough. I found a cache of the page on Google and was able to read the comments, so I’m satisfied. Carry on, then!
