Duetting Purr-ers!

Check it!

Ender and Willow were adopted from the Seattle Humane Society a few days ago. From Sender Inner Brittany S.

1. “I’m so happy!” “No look mum I’m happiest! See? See? Purring mum! See?!” “Dammit, Willow, why you always gotta be the centre of attention?”

2. my cat does that too

3. They just needed someone to bring them home and love them!

4. (The Original) Mel says:

That makes me feel like a fuzzy little cupcake inside. Don’t tell anyone – it will ruin my reputation as a tough cop.

5. Mary (the first) says:

Ender and Willow are pretty darn happy to be in their new home! And who could blame them!! lucky and gorgeous little kittehs!

6. happypiano says:

I’m watching this video while my cat is purring on my desk in front of my computer… it’s a trio!

7. Juniper Jupiter says:

LOVE IT!!

Right in the middle of the viddy, almost out of NOWHERE.. here comes SERIOUS NOSE BOOPAGE NEEDED!! 😀

8. Why does a cat purring make a human feel content and warm-fuzzy? What is that?

9. I’m not sure who’s luckier, those kittens or Brittany.

10. I just love cats :), mine is real purring machine too :D!

11. The answer to human sleep problems! Create a continuous loop of this heavenly kitty purrage and have awesome ‘drift off to sleep’ nighty-night music.

I know it would work cuz…. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

12. Hurrah for kitten adoptions!

13. Oh, what precious babies. I could just feel the warmth radiating off of this video 😀 and I want to stroke the second kitten’s fuzzy little neck. ❤

14. Lol @25 seconds ‘O HAI’ *boof*

15. Ender is an awesome name for a kitten. The other kitten, Willow, should have been named Valentine instead, though…

16. Happy ‘dopted kittehs. The perfect start to a morning.

17. ‘doptions are sublime!

18. adopted rescue kittehs are the most grateful and happy ever!

19. Moon Catty–I’ve seen white noise apps that include including kitteh purring along w/ the usual rain and ocean wave sounds!

20. If only it were Xander and Willow…

21. They’re beautiful! >^.^<

22. MoonCatty says:

@Sera – Awesome! I had no idea that kitteh purrings were part of a white noise collection!

My dream white noise recording would be purring kittehs on a train in the rain by the ocean… aaaaahhhhhhhh…

23. OH MY DOG. They’re stunning. No wonder Brittany fell for them. *grabs chest and keels over*

Great names, too! Okay, I’m a little partial, since I named my own cat Willow. In my case, it was because he was a teeny runt and I thought he might be a dwarf. Two points to the first person who mentions where I got the name idea! :-b

24. @ Wolfie, um…. the movie Willow, perhaps?

Love rescue kitties! All I’ve ever had and have loved them all. 🙂

25. I guess it was too easy! :-b Two points to Sher, for naming one of my favorite movies evah!

26. Bliss.

27. Oooo, thank youtube gods for fullscreen HD mode!! Anyone who hasn’t tried to watch this vid that way, please do! My brain simultaneously melted, asploded and combusted from the qte and gorgeous kitties.

28. I love cats, but for some reason the purring just creep me out. It took a while for me to understand that their happy when they do it. It’s when they stop that you have to worry.

29. I love the purr noise more than anything on the whole planet!!!! I think someone should make one of those “soothing sounds” CDs for insomniacs that’s just kittens purring for 4 hours.

30. Oh man! I didn’t even notice that had already been mentioned in the thread! and I always think I’m so clever.

31. oh I love hearing about cat adoptions, especially in my own city! 🙂 Happy kitties, happy people, win, win, win, win, win.

32. I agree with all of those that say the purr is their favo noise in the whole world!! So great to see these guys in their forever home! 🙂

33. Or they should play the sound track in the airport every time flights are cancelled. That should mellow out those Type A business folks…

34. Hooray for shelter adoptions and purr-inks!

35. *sigh* Speaking of adoptions…Would anyone in SE Texas or SW Louisiana like to adopt a kitteh? One of mine can no longer get along with the other animals. I’ve tried everything, I really have. I’ve moved her to my boyfriend’s house, but we’ve discovered that he is allergic, so she can only stay there until I find her a new home. 😥

36. Yay for adopted/rescued kitties! Yay for fantasy/Sci-Fi inspired names! Yay for purring! Yay for curious calico kitties! Just…all around yay!

37. The first cat is like, DROP.DEAD.GORGEOUS! call 911, extreme Qteness +purring have left me in a coma

38. skippymom says:

Every morning, Chloe cuddles on my shoulder and purrs pretty loudly. Skippy, on the other side of my head, is jealous that I give the girl ANY attention, and he gets his loudest purr going–which is quite loud. It’s as though it’s a competition for who loves Mom the most.

39. STINKIN’ cute!! And purring is the absolute best. I used to be late to work because my Stinky would jump in my lap and purr, and I would relax too much to move. 😛

40. Does Youtube have a repeat function? I want to listen to this all day.

41. Nicolletta says:

Kitties…purring…it’s…too…much….*iz ded from da qte*

42. Ceejoe wrote “adopted rescue kittehs are the most grateful and happy ever!”
You took the words out of my mouth. 🙂 So true!

43. skippymom says:

Hey, Theresa, I just the other day finally watched the video that you posted a while back of you scritching Stinky and Dante. I love it. And I think your voice is very cute.

44. @Skippymom, not a bit like Eleanor Roosevelt, is it? 😥

45. I’m probably the only person in the world who doesn’t find kitty purringks soothing and restful. I think it’s cute, and I love a happy, contented kitteh. But I would not be able sleep with all that racket going on.

46. skippymom says:

@Theresa, much cuter than Eleanor Roosevelt.

47. hi Brinnann can you tell us a little about your kitty that needs a new home.

I don’t live down south but maybe some one on here does and can take her in. So sorry things have turned out like this.

48. Sheba is the tabby in my picture here. She’s about 4 years old, and I rescued her from the Humane Society about 3 years ago (she was on their “urgent” list). They think she was moved from another shelter during hurricane Rita. She doesn’t seem to have had a great beginning in this world. She has a tattoo on her stomach, which the Humane Society found when they shaved her to spay her (turns out she was already spayed), and we have no ideas as to who would’ve marked her.

She’s lovely with people, though she does talk a lot. When I first got her, she was okay with my dog and other cat. But for some reason, about 6 months ago she decided she couldn’t get along with them anymore. It’s gotten worse, so I moved her to my boyfriend’s house about a month ago. He’s never had allergies before, and I tried to tell him he’d probably just developed a seasonal allergy, but he figured it out that it’s her that’s making him unable to breathe. His mother wanted to take her, but his little brother who is coming home from the Marines in December is even more allergic than he is.

49. Brinnann, Sheba is lovely and if I lived anywhere near you and didn’t have four cats, I would take her (not that that helps). Sorry things aren’t working; I’m wondering whether she’s had a checkup since she started not getting along with the other pets. I think a behavior change like that can mean a cat isn’t feeling well. (Not to suggest you wouldn’t have thought of this, just wondering.)
I also think that a difficult past can definitely show in a cat’s personality. My Eddy, who was a stray and I think was not treated well in his youth, tends to beat on the other cats.
Anyway, I wish the best for both of you. Won’t it be great if a CO friend is able to give her a home.

50. We’ve been to the vet. Tried Feliway. Tried a collar – similar to a flea collar – that was supposed to do the same thing. Tried meds, but they gave her a horrible tummy ache. I think her only option is to be an only child, no siblings of the feline or canine variety.

51. Kittehs are so happy to be adopted into a warm loving home! Awwwww.

52. The vibro massage is free and for £10 you can have the deep pressure massage with added acupuncture.

53. *sigh* I wish YouTube were not blocked at work. I don’t want to wait until I get home to hear purrage! And Rachel? Love your avie!

54. I hit replay so many times I almost wore it out. I agree: full screen mode!!!!!!! is the best!

55. O NO He/ She/ It DI-unt!!! says:

@ Hon Glad: do we send the
(WAITAMINNIT I DON”T HAVE A pound sign on my keyboard????)

10 pounds payment care of you, personally? 😉

56. O NO He/ She/ It DI-unt!!! says:

@ brinnann: wishing/ hoping in your direction,
wonderful karma and grooviness and peace and buttercup blossoms and Queen Anne’s Lace and glitter and kaleidoscopes and and and and (etc.)

(wish I could take ’em on instead of just sending verbal pictures of sweet things;
but have to pay out lotsa cash here at my new apt and so haven’t even gotten one kitteh for meself, yet until some other bills R paid …)

57. O NO He/ She/ It DI-unt!!! says:

PS: “Sheba” = wonderful name, “fur” a kitteh. 🙂 A+

58. O NO, there should be an “alt” command shortcut for it, but I can’t find it. I think some of the laptops have a pound key, though. Or you could use the “insert” function in Word, then copy and paste it from there.

59. Thank you Skippymom and O NO. Words of encouragement go a long way, much further than people would think.

60. Or “farther”?

61. My kitteh does the same thing. I named him Diesel for his motorpurr 🙂

62. Sasha's Mum says:

OMG, kitty #1 looks exactly like Sasha when she was that age. Who’s been cloning my kitteh? (Not that that would be a bad thing. She is the best kitteh in the whole wide world.)

63. O NO – I only put it in £ cos I don’t have a dollars sign. As Max Bialystock said make the cheques out to cash.

64. O NO He/ She/ It DI-unt!!! says:

@ Hon Glad: 🙂

That cheque/ check is IN THA MAIL ….. (& we ALL know, what THAT means!!)

btw, I just answered your response to my answer, under the bunneh handout post, as well as our “chat” here under this post 🙂

65. O NO He/ She/ It DI-unt!!! says:

And brinnann, you are UBER KYUL to provide keyboarding strategies!!!

66. O NO He/ She/ It DI-unt!!! says:

brinnann: re farther/ further: NOW THAT is a good and challenging vocab qwershtyun. If’n I hadn’t just promised to someone, to give off use of this computer (am in the apt property computer lab, not me own rheum)
I would pick up that gauntlet and locate the answer. However, I do know that the use of the word there is in an adverb-use. Gotta go “fur” now tho.

peace and grammar-fun to all

67. Farther = length or distance (inch, mile, light year)
Further = greater degree, refers to time or an amount

Basically, use “farther” if you can put a ruler to it.

68. Thanks AntieBellum! Though it’d be easier the other way around, because then “further” and “ruler” would both have u’s in them. That’s how I remember “who” and “whom,” because you can replace “whom” with “him.”

69. And my underlining didn’t work! 😯

70. 😳 It’s because I used [ ] instead of .

71. And my “” didn’t show up either! *grrr*

72. It happened again!

73. and

74. I’m Brittany’s husband and I took the video of our new purring machines! =D I just put up a studio photo of the duo over at my site:

75. Kudos to Kat for the Ender’s reference.

76. These two kitties are EXCEPTIONALLY beautiful!!! Congrats and bravo and a standing ovation and high fives and hugs and a free lifetime supply of sweet dreams to the people who adopted them!

77. AWW 😀 Those cute little kitties, Ender and Willow, are lucky to get adopted from the Seattle Humane Society by, you, Brittany S. 😀 May you have many many years with the both of them 😀

78. @brinnann 😦 I wish I knew someone nearby who could take that kitty for me 😦 I hope and pray you find a nice loving home for the kitty 🙂

79. @ brinnann: I know you mentioned you tried Feliway, are you sure you gave it a long enough time to work? I noticed a HUGE improvement with our warring cats after about a month and a half of 2 Feliway plug-ins in a 2000 sq ft house. Wish I could take your kitty…best of luck to you and your furbaby!

80. @William Doran: WOW what a gorgeous photo! Love the raised paws!!!

81. O NO He/She/It DI-unt!!! says:

@ brinnann: I’ve mentioned frequently to QoD, my assessment that most
computers are NOT nice people.

I find this statement helps me to feel, at least MOMENTARILY,
victorious over these devious computers.

She tells me, however, that HER preference, is to blame any computer malfeasance on SamKitty.
[He does keep a thick legal brief assembled in his briefcase, however and she says that he plans to sue her in court; so, there is that.]

82. Kittypurrs is the bestest sound in the universe, and those are two very happy and very lucky purrers. 🙂

83. Now isn’t that just the best sound in the whole world?

84. Gorgeous photo William! Kudos to you and Brittany for adopting the two cuties.

85. What a beautiful cat!!

86. I used 2 of them in a 1000 sf house for over 2 months, AND added the pheremone collars during the second month. 😦 It just didn’t work for her.

87. Aww I’m so sorry hun. Another thing we did for our kitty who refuses to get along with anyone is to give her her own ‘apartment.’ We got two large dog cages, put them together and put in carpet, a scratching pad, litterbox, food and water bowls, and a heated bed, and covered half of it with a blanket for privacy. She’s not in there all the time, just at night and a few times during the day for litterbox “appointments.” This keeps the peace for the most part…tensions around the house have eased greatly but of course nothing’s perfect. But this is how we manage to keep our kitty family together.
*hugs* and prayers and positive thoughts to you and your kitties!

88. ♥ Thank you for your hugs and prayers.

What I’d been doing was keeping one kitteh secluded in my room while the other roamed the house, switching them each day so neither stayed cooped up for too long. I even had an extra litter box in there and fed them separately. But when Sheba decided to go after my dog (who is half lab, half pit, and whole pansy), I realized I couldn’t even let her out for short periods of time because she’d come in contact with the dogs. *sigh* I’m afraid I have no other choices.

89. Reminds me of “Evinrude” – we were staying at a motel and heard people outside calling. A couple were in the midst of moving for work and their cat Evinrude had slipped away, we searched for ages. The couple were fairly determined to go no further (farther?) until Evinrude was found…I believe he eventually was. Telling this only because I think Evinrude is a great name for a purry cat.

90. Awww, I want to adopt two kitties! We have two dogs, two guinea pigs, but only one kitteh. My husband says we have too many pets to adopt anything else. But I wanna! I love kitteh purrs.

91. Most wonderful sound in the world…

92. SnowyLeop says:

@William Doran Gorgeous photo; gorgeous kitties!

93. That little cutie was ready for her close-up : )! How adorable they both are!

94. Precious – especially the purring-in-stereo 😉

The in-the-camera nose is something I deal with every time I try to take pics of my fur-babies when they are awake. That and the constant movement is why my best shots are when they are blissfully sleeping 😉

All my kittehs are rescues, so I can vouch for the sweet attitude… except when they want breakfast NOW DAMMIT!!! ROFL 😉

95. Beautiful photo of gorgeous kitties 😉

96. ROFL – that’s how my Romulus woke me yester morning for breakfast. This morning he used my head as a chair – oh well – he’s my baby 😉
