@Alice 33 – our cat Tigger gave birth to a single kitten in her whole career. Tigger was a long-furred marmie, and the kitten was beige. We named him Yoda because of the way his ears stuck out sideways. Cutest kitten ever. Both now long gone, alas!
i just feel asleep at my desk while looking at this picture, wishing that this little kitty was cuddled in my arms.

Wait, you mean we’re not the only people who find kittens in couches?!?
A few months back one of our dogs, play chased, a small gray rather annoyed ball of fluff into our couch. We found her the next day, after going why is the dog guarding the couch. After carefully dissembling the sleeper sofa, my husband put on the glove of discovery and pulled out an angry little ball of gray and orange fluff.
He named her, Shii, and dotes on the kitten as if she’s the only kitten he’s ever seen. Shii, is still a touch cookie but as to put up with her three adopted brothers, previously found in our storage shed, Ichi and Ni, a marmie and black and white harlequin; and crossing the street, San, a big black, Siamese built kitten. The boys are now a year old, Shii is a healthy, active, ball of fluff and has taught said dog just who is the boss.

Allie, sleeper sofas and cats are dangerous combination. My old cat hid in my poor brothers when we were moving. When he couldn’t find the cat he searched at night in the three feet snow for hours before calling us.
Of course my father went over to said sofa, pulled off the cushions and she popped out to greet him. My brother was ready to throw her in a snow drift.

I’m not as adept with the puns as is 260Oakley, but I would humbly submit that a flute-playing kitten should be called Ian Andfurson.

Oh! I have a fluffy kitty story for you! My husband and I are cat-sitting for his younger brother, who has a juvenile cat named Nighthawk. I think this was Little Brother’s attempt at finding a bad (tough) name for his kitty, but Nighthawk looks like anything but tough. He’s about 9-12 months, I think, not fixed yet (I must remember to sternly advise Little Brother to do so) and SO FLUFFY! He’s longhaired, light gray tabby with white tummy and socks. And he’s completely adorable and lovable.
He’s gradually getting used to our cats and in fact recently got caught pester/playing with Murphy, my big black cat. Murphy verbally chastised Nighthawk (or Nightie, as I call him) a couple of times, but didn’t hiss or leave the room. But mostly he’s stayed upstairs, where he has a whole room to retreat to if he feels threatened.
But last night, as I was watching “CSI,” Nightie came downstairs, braved the two big dogs (who are creampuffs) in the living room, and came and got up on the couch with me! And proceeded to get in my lap and rub his noggin on my chin and purr, purr, purr.
My husband said, “I hope you aren’t getting too attached to him…” Too late.

that’s how i ended up with 11 mostly “former foster cats” that ended up deciding to stay with me.

Gosh, they’re cute when they’re asleep… which helps when they’re awake and eating your shoelaces and sticking their claws in the electric socket and climbing the drapes and darting between your feet and shredding the new magazine and generally being kittens. And I’m sure we wouldn’t have them any other way, but sometimes it’s a relief when they grow up a little….

I’ve got three of these little ginger babies right now..fostering them because the shelter is too full and somehow dumped them and their mom off (mom is now back at shelter alone
. All boys, 6 weeks old, crazy wrestling matches with nom-nom nip action followed by 20 minute power naps, followed by zipping from room to room. Will miss them terribly when they have to go.
