Live from “The Supper Dish,” Taos, NM

I’m your host, Blackie Blackwell, and now it’s time for that darling dancing duo, those keyboard cuties, the sassy song stylings of the Floofy Sisters! Let’s hear it!

Thank you, Blackie! We just finished a six-week tour of dog parks in southern North Dakota, and gosh, it’s great to be back here with you good people. Right, Tilly?

You said it, Dilly! And right now, let’s kick things off with one of our favorites…

For booking inquiries, contact Jaymes G.
(PS: We flipped the middle photo, which is why the notes look backward.)

  1. …zing, zing, zing went my heartstrings…from the moment I saw him I fell.

Great. Now I’ve got an earworm. Lemme just stuff those pups in the ol’ ears to clean ’em out and… *grabs pups and runs off*

  2. OK, now. The chickens and then this. I demand a Floof tag, immediately!

  3. Well, I, er, meant to say, at the earliest convenience of our honourable and esteemed moderators, if at all possible, please, thank you.

  4. Venerable Bead says:

It’s the Sweeney Sisters in puppeh form! Much, much cuter this way!

  5. fatgrammafinn says:

    must boop the floof BOOPBOOPBOOP

    *waves hi to everyone MWAH*

  6. I caught their benefit concert, Pom-Aid.
(then again, these might be Keyshounds)

  7. O NO He/She/It DI-unt!!! says:

Once I saw the signature, I knew that it wuz gonna go to “zing, zing zing”!! YAY!!!

  8. I have been trying to think how to type out the Sweeney (I think? the ones from SNL?) Sisters trademark flourishes… but it is sending my brain into fits and starts. Well, the spelling plus these dustbunnies here is practically giving me seizures! Overload, indeed!

  9. Clang. Clang? Clang. CLANGCLANGCLANGCLANG.

  10. Gaz: How’s bout you have Pupulence 1 and two (one for each ear) and I’ll distract you while I smuggle puppeh numbah 3 away in my trench coat…

  11. At first I thought Puppeh #2 was a raccoon.

  12. A tour of southern North Dakota, eh? Did they by chance stop in at the University of Southern North Dakota at Hoople?

  13. Becky, Bubba's mum says:

OMG! Pommies! Cutest breed in the world. Little Mr. #1 is incredible as are his little sisters. Now I have to go jump start my heart.

  14. O NO He/She/It DI-unt!!! says:

Heeeeeeere’s La Garlande, with a Youtube link from
the (?)Original of the Trolley Song

and here’s a link for images AND the dialogue from a Sweeney S’s episode…..ENDING with the Trolley Bit:

  15. O NO He/She/It DI-unt!!! says:

My laptop is trying to give me a Nervous Breakdown by being uncooperative.

Here’s another try for the Sw. Sisters bit…which ENDS with the zing zing zing bit.

  16. Hi, O NO! Will you sign on to my campaign for “Floof”?

  17. Aww, I miss the Pom I had. She was such a sweetie. I may have to get another one someday.

  18. OMG I just heard that in Garrison Keillor voice…

    And cover your ears Peeps…

    (Super sonic) SQUEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!! Pommies!!!!!!!!!!11

My favoritest breed in the whole wide world!

  19. O NO He/She/It DI-unt!!! says:

    Most assuredly, skippymom!!!

Hoping not to be Moderated out of existence…..

  20. Look at your hand and imagine it on a keyboard.
Now look at your hand and realize how tiny these puppies are. OMG!!!111!!!

  21. “MEDLEY!”

  22. bookmonstercats says:

Laughed my head off at hovertext #3. How appropriate.

  23. oof

    that’s all I got.

    (or floof…whichever you prefer)

  24. Venerable Bead says:

ONHSID – thanks for the trip in the way back machine…the Sweeneys were one of my favorite Nora & Jan collaborations

  25. O NO He/She/It DI-unt!!! says:

    @ VB:

  26. Hooray for floof!!

  27. Not That Mike The Other Mike says:

    @Helen: Greetings, fellow P.D.Q. Bach fan. 😀

  28. Bravo @260 then again I might be biased having had many keeshonden through the years (see Sophia, stage right -> )

  29. @mtkees
I like Miss Sophia’s picture. Looks like she got all lickered up for it.

  30. huh, I was wondering about the middle picture before I scrolled down. I’m glad you added the parenthetical note, otherwise I’d be wondering in the back of my mind for the rest of the night why the notes looked backwards…. I seriously started thinking for a second, “wait, do cameras flip things the way mirrors do and I never noticed?”

  31. Do a little dance…make a little love…get down tonight!
    Cutie little poms.

  32. @kittyadventures, Perhaps you were hearing the all-chicken orchestra, or the all-chicken gospel choir. 😛

    @Helen and NTMTOM:

  33. @NTMTOM and Theresa: We fans are apparently a small club…but an excellent one. I’ve actually sung My Bonnie Lass She Smelleth! In a madrigal group. Good [nerdy] times.

  34. Ahhhhhh SO Cute!

  35. yes, but how many of you have actually SEEN PDQ Bach perform, hMMMMM?

  36. I don’t normally like small dogs, but I will take the middle one purely because s/he looks like a raccoon.

  37. Poms are the most excruciatingly cute dogs. More live teddy bears than dogs…

  38. I love pommies! My aunt has had two in the past, and I always wanted to play with them whenever I was around them.

  39. Where’s the music track?

  40. Not That Mike The Other Mike says:

Sharpy: I saw Peter Schickele perform a P.D.Q. Bach concert in the 70’s, complete with orchestra. At one point, he had the orchestra running around with numbers on their backs, like a sports team. Great fun!

  41. Now for our latest number “Om tiddly om pom, pom pom”

  42. (PS: We flipped the middle photo, which is why the notes look backward.)

  43. And don’t forget to tip your waitresses! Try the veal!

PS – I saw Peter Schickele at the Kennedy Center. First time and only time I’ve ever seen a conductor stop, look at the composer who promptly pulled $ from his pocket and gave it to him to continue.

  44. They are so cute. 1st one looks shy. 2 is my fav

  45. The notes don’t look backward. They ARE backward. What an adorable little population of talented fluff though!

  46. For P.D.Q. Bach overload, you must see The Abduction of Figaro.

Found a peanut! Found a peanut! Found a peanut riiiiiight here!

  47. Oops…didn’t get the italics closed properly…

  48. I thought #2 was a raccoon too. The hovertext wonderful as usual.
Now of course, I have a song loop going on in my head…and also seeing Judy Garland on top of a trolley car singing….thanks!

  49. @NTMTOM

well, color me impressed! next you’re going to tell us you saw tom lehrer!

i think i saw the same performance antics you describe but not until the next decade. what a great reminder, i’ll have to go dig up some schickele-bach PDQ!

i wonder how he would have conducted the backwards sheet music they use at ‘the supper dish.’

  50. Pomperaniums! (read: Pomeranians) oh, they’re just the cutest pups ever. No breed beats this breed. They’re so perfect!
    …I wish I had one.

  51. The proshest of the prosh!

  52. YOU’ve got to watch this. It’s so cute. Hope you all like as mugh as I do.MADE YOU SMILE!!!!

  53. enlightenmentgirl says:

How about some doo-wop: “Pom-ah Lama Ding dong!”
    Pom babies rule!

  54. Oh, I so, so, so wish I could have a dog. In fact, I want the middle puppy there, the grey one. I definitely want that wee pom!

Alas, my cat is proof that I spoil my pets insufferably, and while a spoiled cat is fine – all he does is bite me if he doesn’t get his way – a spoiled dog is a bit insufferable and yappy and angry, to be honest, and I wouldn’t want to subject the world to that :<

That is a comment on my dog-raising skills, not on dogs. They can be lovely animals if they have a good owner, just not someone like me :/

  55. ithinkiatetoomuch says:

    Like the Gabor sisters!
