But of course you can subtract at least 35 grams for the hay or straw or whatever. I always subtract at least 10 lbs. for clothes when I weigh myself. So really, he’s probably quite svelte! (p.s. @Kasia and Faye, I am enjoying cool weather here in US Northwest. I’m ready for cold and rainy! YAY)

  12. Kim says:

  27. cryptic says:

I had a terribly sleepless night. Thanks for the cute-fix !

  28. kathyp says:

@Theresa: Actually, we do have otters here in New York. They’re river otters, and they can be just as disapproving as our grouchy friend. I think they are the same species.

Did anyone else have the urge to push the “Mode” and “Tare” buttons on that scale and get the otter’s weight in American numbers?

  29. pyrit says:

I hope it’s feeling OK. Maybe it needs a sickottery blanket.

  30. Formica says:

That otter looks more disapproving than the disapprovingest of bunnehs.

  31. Julie says:

Get otter here with that camera….grrrrrrr

  32. Juno says:

“I’m not fat, I’m just retaining wotter!”

  33. Fleurdamour says:

  35. Mel says:

Oh, bebe ottahs, the paparazzi are merciless!

  36. pyrit says:

Looks kinda like, a grudge over troubled otter …

  37. Ahhh I see this is going to be an otterly punny day in the comments section

@ Pyrit. as always you rule. HEheheh

  38. The Cat Foundation says:

    Oh, I’m afraid…. I’m REALLY afraid…. :(

  39. chanpon says:

    All 458 grams of disapproval.

  40. pyrit says:

Desperotter! Why don’t you come to your senses …

    ok I’ll stop.

    maybe.

    hee.

  41. O NO He/She/It DI-unt!!! says:

    @ Elizabeth: :) :)

    (ps: Hi, Pyrit!! *waves*)

  42. mary says:

go play with your brothers and sisters :) maybe that will make you feel better. and if they don’t want to play with you, i will!

  43. Deb says:

This goes far beyond disapproval. This is pure, cold disdain, and no, he will NEVER forgive you for weighing him. :-)

  44. Sarah says:

    OMG! good morning sea puppy!!

Hilarious that this otter looks so disapproving now – they’re so smiley as adults!

  45. Theresa says:

@Kathyp, I meant NYC, being typically NYC-centrically obnoxious. ;) Or are there really river otters in NYC???!! I must see them NOW.

  46. Theresa says:

    @Pyrit: ow, ow, ow, OUCH!!!

  47. Emerson says:

I see him as a Daniel Day-Lewis-type character. “I roll in your seaweed!”

  48. Theresa says:

Pic 2: “I know it was you, Fredo. You broke my heart.”

  49. Wowsers!!! If the teeney-tineey bebbeh otter looks so disapproving right now, what’s he going to look like later on when he’s all grown up;
(by then, the skepticsm will really have had a chance to develop)

  50. Jimbeaux says:

How can something be both so adorabuls and so grumbly at the same time?

    *head asplode*

  51. Theresa says:

You can see the attitudinous family resemblance to the Voting Stoat.

  52. 260Oakley says:

    Cute Otterload

  53. Berg says:

For those of you who did not have to learn your conversions for weights and measures, 454 grams = 16 ounces = 1 pound. That means our little friend here is just over a pound–tiny! And yet, there is a huge amount of disapproval radiating from our little friend.

  54. BatBlaster says:

@KittyAdventures: yep, i am fond of otterly bad puns. wait whatdoes the tare button do again? How is it different than zeroing it.
Yep, just a lil over a pound of bad ottertude.
    where was this taken

  55. Birdcage says:

@kathyp In “American numbers” 458 grams is just a few whiskers over 1 lb.

  56. BatBlaster says:

@Berg: FYI, i did not see your comment when i said that, i thought the most recent post was oakley. GET OFF MY KEYBOARD ANT

  57. Theresa says:

I came back to look at this bite-sized morsel, and bust out laughing until I shed tears. What a farbissiner punim!

  58. Lerrinus says:

Poor little otters all like, “What the hay!”

…how does so much attitude/disapproval fit into such a tiny little fuzzball!? :-)

  59. Elizabeth says:

@O NO–I know it’s not as punny as 260O, but it was the first thing that popped into my head. :)

  60. Fleurdamour says:

Wotter you want? Don’t botter me.

  61. Minou says:

Wait now! That reading is far from accurate! What with the hay and ‘otter’ unmentionable things that may be found between the hay and the bebbeh, not speaking of the container itself… I’d say it isn’t anymore than a relatively slim 200 grams. No wonder there is disapproval. -
If he had a blanket instead of hay, he’d be an “otter” Garfield.

  62. O NO He/She/It DI-unt!!! says:

@ Elizabeth: well, y’know, 260o needs some rest, sometimes, anyhow!! :)

  63. O NO He/She/It DI-unt!!! says:

    @ Berg:

    1) Thank you for the considerate #/crunchingks!!!
    2) ….”say hello , to my leetle freh-yund!!!:)”

  64. O NO He/She/It DI-unt!!! says:

    (stupid computer keyboard)

prior comment was s’posed to end with this: :)

  65. Theresa says:

PS, Apropos of nothing but my lunch: Roasted red pepper hummus. Mmmmmmmmmm!

  66. Illise says:

so cuteeee how can something this cute can manage to look so evil?

  67. Kim says:

Oh, he’s a grouch. An adorable grouch, but still …

  68. Lerrinus says:

I just can’t handle the *scale* of disapproval! ;-)

  69. pyrit says:

Bwa! Lookit the scale, “Wedderburn”. Yeah it’s hot alright.
This summer the Wedderburn in Minnasotter, eh?

  70. w.e. says:

For some reason, in the first picture he reminds me of John Malkovich.

  71. Theresa says:

@Pyrit, now cut that out, you’ll get us all in trouble!

  72. lawyergirl77 says:

This picture is scientific proof that being weighed sucks, no matter the species.

I feel your pain, leetle otter. I feel your pain…

@pyrit – your comments have killed me ded. DED I tell you!!

  73. pyrit says:

Eat lotsa clams, or you’ll get clogged otteries!

  74. Queen Zola says:

Is it just me, or does the otter in the second pic look like he’s thinking, “Yaaarrr, be gettin’ your hands off me bootah?”

  75. me says:

    aaaaaaaaaaawWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

  76. knittinkitten says:

This leetle guy certainly has a chip on his leetle shoulder. perhaps he would like a nose beep and a treat?

  77. cupcake says:

    eek! heeem so cute!

  78. T.U.M. says:

Does that scale measure in BTU’s (Blorp Tastic Units)?

  79. Lillith says:

If I for any odd reason doubted Theresa’s NYC cred she proved it by using Yiddish! That girl she’s a mensch and a shayna maidel as well I bet! And that otter he looks mishegas!

Not bad for a shiksa huh?

  80. BB/VA says:

I think somebody just woke him up.

  81. muttluver says:

I saw this on fb first for once, and I was like, :D DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD Ah! Ah! Ah! Ah! Ah! I couldn’t even get the Ahn! out, I was so speechless.

  82. BatBlaster says:

Well what zoo is this from and is that a healthy weight for his age. And what species

  83. Juno says:

To Lillith from another shiksa: You mean he looks meshuga (crazy). Mishagas = craziness. Meshugana = crazy person (I think that, at least technically, there’d be a different ending depending on whether said crazy person was male or female. Maybe some real Yiddish expert will weigh in on that. And any other corrections I may need.)

from Juno in Michigan, home of the Michiganah

  84. O NO He/She/It DI-unt!!! says:

    @ Juno: …
.”home of the Michiganah”!!! BWA HA AND HA!!! :)

    Wonderful wordsmithing!!

  85. BatBlaster says:

So is it a river otter, a sea otter or what

  86. brinnann says:

    BatBlaster, maybe it’s an almam-otter.

  87. Lerrinus says:

    @brinnann: :lol: :lol: :lol:

  88. mplsdeb says:

Well, I must say…. I had been realllly down. I had to my house on the market today.
But these were wonderfully funny and the laughter helped with the endorphins.

    @260oakley.. You’re on a roll. I am ahem…Otterly grateful.

  89. Ruffian9 says:

    OMG the disapproval (plus scrunchface!)

    I am so ded.

  90. Ruffian9 says:

“This goes far beyond disapproval. This is pure, cold disdain”

    Heh.

    Loving this thread…

  91. pyrit says:

Brinnan – Bwa ha! From the University of Minnesotter!

  92. Edward says:

    Otters>cats!

  93. BatBlaster says:

I otter say this, I can’t hold still okay. So thats why you are annoying me.

  94. pyrit says:

BatBlaster – Sorry, sometimes, we get a little otter control.
