Captain’s Log, Stardate 5291.3: On a distress call at Snorgulon-5, we arrive only to find no one to greet us. Most… peculiar. No… citiesNo… buildingsNo… source of the distress signal. I… fear… we… may be walkingintoatrap. And yet, except for a lone Redonkulan Flozz-Poodle, we find no sign of life at all.

Live long and prosher, Mischa M.

Pomeranicorn?
Haha, spot on with the Shatnerian dramatical speaking rythm.
The puppy’s toupet looks better then Shatner’s. LOL!
Yeah I know cheap shot…but not as cheap as his toupet LOL!
OK I’ll stop now
Singed: an X-trekker
That’s…disgusting. :/
Looks like he’s a little horndog.
The hovertext is brills.
“Redonkulan Flozz-Poodle”! LOL!
Oh, this is really good. Thanks for the laugh I needed!
Oh, COME ON! A Uni-Poodle?! *ded*
Kirk emotes his best
Trying to assess the danger;
Sulu holds a poodle
(Yeah, I miss Friday haiku)
Sulu pleads, “Oh Captain,
It’s quite dangerous out there.
Please, take one of these.”
Redonkulans, those guys are part of the Peteration right?
Which one is their Prime Directive again?
“Om nom nom!”
“Rub Mah Belleh!”
or
“Leave No Paper Mache Tree Dry”
This is the hardest I’ve ever laughed about a CO post. Awesome.
“Take me to your Feeder”
NTMTOM, hee-larious post! You’re the best. Really.
I said “Beam me up” not “Beam me pup”, Scotty.
Little horndog? *groan*
I have to say, it doesn’t help that Sulu’s clutching that thing like something from the 2011 LV line.
lol at 260O…. and horndog… and noelegy’s haikus… thanks to all teh peeps for the friday laffs…
Mssrs. Shatner and Takei were quite dashing back in the day, weren’t they? If oddly shiny.
I always wondered what that critter was. Nice part in his fur.
NTMTOM – awesome post, made my morning
(Is it sad or funny that I think I recognize that episode?)
Really hard to squeeze
into that little gold thing..
even for the dog..
Yeah @gillian, I recognize that episode too
And I thought only bald insecure men wore rugs…
Hilarious!
‘Redonkulan’ made my day!!!
NTMTOM: I KNEW IT! You’re so geek-tacurlary cool, you HAD to be a trekkie! Dead on the Shatnerese, by the way! Too, too funny!!
Happy Friday!
Doggie – “So it’s come to this, I who understudied Rin Tin Tin reduced to this drek. I’ll be talking to my agent in the morning”
“live long and prosher” OMG LOL
Wait… What?? That fur and horn aren’t NATURALLY growing out of that puppeh?? Pfft. And i used to like that show…
Kirk: Well, we’re here. Looks like Scotty got the transporter working again.
Sulu: What do you mean, Captain. This is Spock!
UNIPOO
I think they’re trying to negotiate with a hotel that doesn’t allow dogs.
That dog is so embarrassed.
The dog’s toupee is slipping and …. is it wearing blusher?
NOMTOM, great capture of Shatner speaking rhythm.
I was a minor Trekkie. Madly in love with Spock I was. What happened to the dog, you peeps who recognise the episode? Was it left alone on Planet Redonkulous? If so, I want to go there too, so I can take care of it.
Hovertext makes the joke
For those who are wondering (other than Gillian and Manny), that episode is actually one of the best, in spite of the cheesiness of the unicorn/pomeranian/mop hybrid. The transporter malfunctions (again), and after Kirk beams up to the ship, it is discovered that it has split him into 2 separate bodies with opposite personalities: a decisive, bold, and . . . uh. . . . amorous . . . . .Alpha Male, and sensitive, thoughtful, angst-ridden philosopher-poet type. Little unipommop thingy was split, too—little fuzzy sweetness, and snarly, fanged crankiness. Meanwhile, poor Sulu and the redshirts had to stay behind on the very cold planet below so that they wouldn’t be bi-polarized by the transporter.
OK. I’m a little scared that I know all that, so I’ll refrain from summarizing the rest . . . .
I hope that dog gets residuals. And a named credit.
CathyDee, is this episode on line? We might need to review it. For research, you know.
I used to wonder what would have happened if — instead of putting gentle Kirk and alpha-male Kirk together, and the sweet Pomeranicorn (I LOVE that!) together with its ferocious counterpart — just what IF … they had transported & recombined gentle Kirk with the ferocious unipoo and the alpha-male Kirk with the sweet Redonkulan.
If nothing else, if could have saved him loads of money in toupees over the years…
@Miss Tara, what a missed opportunity. Now I’m sad.
@Dash–
Your research material:

Episode title–”The Enemy Within”
@Miss Tara–Excellent, excellent idea!
@Miss Tara – Like The Fly.
Can. we. have. a. weekly. Shatner. uber-acting post.
??
Thoroughly. enjoyed. imagining. his. voice. narrating. this.
That.
is.
all.
Beam me up, Scottie (IF the transporter has been repaired).
I loved that episode too! Sulu is shivering in a snowstorm and asking if they have a flask of coffee and a really long piece of string! luckily they shove the opposites on the transporter together and after some extra long sparklyness and whheee heee!! noises and Spock (I think) pushing and pulling the levers All is Well cue comedy line as Kirk sits in chair and signs the pad thingy NAH NAH NAHnananan…….
The tribbles were cuter.
That pups level of disapproval is set to stun!
I’m in awe that we can just go to CBS.com and watch full and uncut eppies of Classic Trek… It’s like we’re living in a Utopian future or something!!!
Kirk & Sulu are shiny because the picture resolution is so good today — you wouldn’t have noticed the sweatiness at all if you’d watched it on TV in the 60s. Everything would have been softer and more matte-looking.
This post, thread, piktchur and contributing peeps are full of WIN and LOLs. Lurve it! Thanx fer teh laffs!
Shatnerese! Too perfect! Love this post!
Now my geeky self is happily going back to working.
PS, What are the coordinates for the Planet Redonk? I suggest we make for there immediately. Set coordinates, and engage.
PS:
@Miss Tara – I think the unipoo was wearing a rug too.
@Theresa – maybe I shouldn’t admit this but I kinda LIKE this performance. He really handles the technical part well, and he sounds more like a storyteller than a singer. I think that is a good thing, because he really can’t sing too well.
i love the shatner talk!
uh-oh, are those expendable guys in the background!!??
@jen: I think the blue shirts are from Engineering. They’ll be fine. It’s the guys in the red shirts from Security — they’re toast.
OK, I just watched the whole episode (thank you for link!), and am I the only one who noticed Spock acknowledging to Yeoman Rand that Impostor Kirk was a hottie in the last scene?
@sophistikate… you can’t deny…. the shatner…
Anybody else thinking of Zapp Brannigan like crazy right now? HUNGRY LIKE THE WOOOOOOOOOOLF! hehe
Blue shirts are usually Medicine or Science (Spock and McCoy wore blue shirts). Red shirts are usually Engineering, Communications or Security (Scotty and Uhura wore red).
Yellow or green are Command (Kirk, Sulu, etc.)
PS. I never understood why Security came under Engineering, unless it was to make them a better target in those red shirts.
@BB/VA: Thank you! I suspected that I wasn’t getting it quite right.
But the joke is that Security red shirts were usually toast, so you got that right, Nomtom.
I saw a bumper sticker once, something like:
I’m not expendable, I’m not stupid, and I’m not going.
There’s even a Wiki entry: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Redshirt_(character)
I’m in awe of George Takei’s ability to hold that thing and look good at the same time.
[hat off]
Remember those little stuffed dogs that had long yarn hair that would sit on your bed or pillow in the 50s? I seem to remember my (lots older) sister having one in lavender.
That’s weird. How come “Your comment is awaiting moderation.”? Never had that happen before…
@marthava
i’m mystified by that one, too.
“The Enemy Within” episode was also used as Shatner’s excuse for dressing down a bunch of ultra-nerdy Trekkies at a convention in an SNL skit:
Shatner: “You! Have you ever even kissed a girl?!”
Trekkie: (Hangs head in shame.)
Thanks for the memories, NTMTOM!
@denise
Shatner: “You! Have you ever even kissed a girl?!”
Trekkie: (Hangs head in shame.)
Sulu: “Not that there’s anything wrong with that.”
What’s the combination to the safe in Kirk’s quarters?
Try not to panic eveyone, but this may be the first television appearance of the dreaded Pokemon.
I still want to marry NTMTOM based solely on his captions and hovertext. Mike, would you prefer a small wedding or a tiny wedding?
“Live long and prosher.” You keeeel me.
I like this post, I really do. But it really makes me long for a caption with Spock petting a black cat….
Who can tell me which espisode that was?
Oh My!
@Theresa, that video was cheeseTASTIC! Oh So “Shatner-y”! “I’m. a. Rock. It. Man.”
Keep ‘em coming. Nobody but Theo has the repertoire of redonk videos that you have! You never fail to crack me up.
@Rooanne – that sounds like Gary 7′s kitty, Isis. They were in Assignment Earth.
Does anybody else remember that SNL sketch was the origin of the expression “Get a life!”?
I saw one of these at the county fair. For a dollar, you could go into the tent and pet the
wait for it….
UNI-CORN-DOG!
Wow! What a great, fantastic caption and hovertext!
Yay!
As usual, NTMTOM, brilliant captioning. Gold stars for use of ellipses and squished-together words. Standing O for the pun at the end. Live long and prosher yourself!
o LOL LOL L……….
a CO personal best ……….. never B4 have I laughed NONSTOP thruout both original post & comments!
my stomach hurts from LOL’ing so much!!
bravo & brava NTMTOM & CO peeps, youse guys (say in Chicago voice) R the best!!!!!11!!!!!!
Tears… running… downmyface. Can… not… BREATHE!
OMG! I’m at work, and my coworkers are giving me strange looks, which isn’t unusual, except for the fact I haven’t said anything. I just keep on laughing. THANK YOU SO MUCH for that laugh. Now I can get through the rest of the night!
Watch from 3:50 to 6:20.
The first time my family and I watched this episode we screamed “UNICORN DOG!” I love unicorns SOOO much!
It could be worse, they could reproduce like tribbles and get all over the place.
Remember kids, Bob Barker always said tribbles should be…
@AuntieMame: I think “I’m not expendable, I’m not stupid, and I’m not going” is from Blake’s Seven.
I’m not even supposed to be here. I’m just “Crewman Number Six.” I’m expendable. I’m the guy in the episode who dies to prove how serious the situation is. I’ve gotta get outta here.
[Is there AIR? Do you KNOW??
- Ed.]
Looks like the poor little Pom is wearing a Tribble!!
omg I bought a VHS tape with this episode and the one with the green woman who doesn’t know how to love. best buy ever. I never knew wtf they thought… trying to pass off a mutt for a lionicorn!
Metz / Teho: “Galaxy Quest” FTW! I lurveses that movie.
Just great… now I NEED a Redonkulan Flozz Poodle…
Hovertext =*snerkity snerk snerk*
Love you CO!
Notice it’s the gay guy holding the tiny yappy dog.
@Mega
>>Notice it’s the gay guy holding the tiny yappy dog
why?
*gasp* Sulu is GAY???…..halp, falling offa ma chair!!
Well…if he is…I am unphased…, just mildly stunned…
Red shirt = ship’s services
Blue shirt = sciences
Yellow shirt = command/helm
My favourite thing about this episode was that the Space Spaniel showed up in EVERY scene, regardless of whether its presence was necessary, or even mentioned. I got the sense that the costumer or whoever said, “I spent all damn DAY on that Space Spaniel outfit! You are going to get it in every shot if it KILLS you!”
Also, the Space Spaniel couldn’t act. When it’s being Vicious Clone Spaniel, they dub some savage barking over top of what is clearly a perky little yap.
I was in a library doing a late night rush on a paper and was asked to leave because this picture made me laugh so much. Thanks for posting it!
Ha-ha! Galexy Quest. There was a Star Trek convention here in Vegas not long ago which had me craving that movie. I love the part where they have to negotiate The Chompers and when Sigourney Weaver first sees it she’s all, “Well, F That!!1″
ooops. Spelling is bad.
