Picture yourself in a boat on a blue jean river,
With tangerine trees and marmalade kitty skies.
Somebody calls you, you answer quite slowly,
A cat with kaleidoscope eyes.
Cellophane flowers of yellow and green,
Towering over your head.
Look for the cat with the sun in her eyes,
And she’s gone.
{CHORUS}
Lucy in the sky with kitties ,
Lucy in the sky with kitties,
Lucy in the sky with kitties,
I so want to go in face first to that belleh but I suspect it might cause some um, awkwardness with the person providing that lap. Guess I’ll have to get my belleh snorgles at home. *sigh* The sacrifices we make…
Just brought 2 new kittens into my home today. Am keeping them in the bathroom for tonight so they can get acclimated to new smells ( this is the only room with no cords or anything that they could hurt themselves on)…then am planning to let them out into the house to play and romp. I feel bad that they are in a closed room (but with room to play) but I already have cats, so the current batch o cats need to sniff them out from under the door so nobody gets harmed.
Wish me luck!
Am also pondering names for a orange and a gray tabbeh. Hmmm
So fluffy and cute and relaxing! I mean, I don’t think I’m the only one who would rather be lying back in furry luxury, napping away the afternoon… Can I get a HONKSHU?!
Martha, I officially love you for that! I just saw Despicable Me for the first time last night at the drive-in movie, and I adored it. Loved it to bits. And Agnes, of course, was my favorite.
2 boys. I think the gray tabbeh is going to be Strider. They are adorabuhls.
my plan is also to see if I can leash/harness train one or both of them, not to take out for walks, but to take to Nursing homes as visiting pals. My grandmother is in a nursing home and they allow visiting pets, so my mind grapes were thinking when these two kittehs are ready and if they are willing, mebbe we could visit residents in nursing homes on the weekends.
In the meantime, the kittehs are soooo cute and very purry.
@Huh…thankies for the suggestions! Starburst would be cute for the orange guy. <3
@Saffron: Tribble and Trouble? Sparkles and Twinkles? Hopes and Dream? Fuzz and Fluff? Nutty and Butter? Cocoa and Carob? Seeds and Weeds? Leo and Theo? Hugs and Bugs? Racer and Tracer? Peanuts and Popcorn? Sugar and Salt? Honey and Maple? (I’m Canadian, eh?) Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf? Major Tom and Minor Tom? (Yes, I’ve had a long week! )
Laverne and Shirley? Peanut Butter and Jelly? Pickles and Ice Cream? Saffron, please let us know what you name them! And hooray for you and the new kitties! Rain and Beau?
@Saffron: Parrot and Dove; Popsicle and Powder; Goldfish and Oyster; Rusty and Dusty; Toast and Silver; Sunbeam and Moonshine; Flash and Glitter; Kindle and Sparkle; Marmalade and Caviar; Scorch and Glimmer; Blaze and Crescent; Phoenix and Gibbous; Baker and Coolio; Lemon and Chestnut; Phoebus and Quaker; Ducat and Nickel; Tungsten and Pewter.
That pet-hair remover seen in the top photo = amazing. Way more efficient than the sticky tape kinds on microfiber and rugs. Cheap upholstery (like my Ikea footstools) still needs the sticky things, though.
The ear fluff is to die for! My young tabby Frodo also has ear floofage that just seems to go right up me nose whenever I snorgle his ears. I LUV da EARS!
Love the lint brush in the background in the first pic — what pet owner DOESN’T have something like that lying around the house, eh? I’m forever forgetting where I left mine and get dizzy running around looking for it. :-b
@Saffron That is a great idea to take those two kitties to a nursing home I am sure those little fluffballs’ feet would hardly be on the floor They both will be sitting in every lap in the place:D
Okay! Everyone is invited to a party at my house. A Good, The Bad, And The Ugly Party! We’ll watch the movie and eat whatever food anyone likes: There’s food for those who like meat, those who eat vegetables and those wo are vegans or anybody who only would like to eat raw food! I’ll prepare it all to make sure that everybody is happy and full. And then after we eat, we’ll go out back and have a western standoff with water pistols!! Who wants to come? (I challenge to the first stand off)
QoD, I got moderated as well, but it’s ok now, I passed.
I love the movie – lifelong Clint fan. I think the theme music is the greatest – I keep listening to your You Tube vid.
I keep thinking I must have a back-to-back Clint movie weekend. Our local branch of WH Smith has a Clint movie display. The only one I think I haven’t seen is The Bridges of Madison County, although I’ve read the book.
bookmonstercats: I have yet to read that book but will put it in my queue of so many books I have lined up to read! Oh my goodness, how I love reading! A good book is like my best friend and I sometimes find myself kind of sad after I’ve finished one that I was really, really into because it’s like. (sadness) “well, now I’m done with that book. bummer. what now? Oh yeah! The next one!!” Yay!
Speaking (as we were) of adorable marmalade kittehs, I hope everyone has read “Dewey: The Small-Town Library Cat Who Touched the World.” Anyone who isn’t in tears at the end of the book just isn’t trying.
QoD, I feel exactly the same way when I finish a really good book, almost as though a good friend has just left. The Bridges of Madison County is lovely and I thonk that Clint is perfectly cast.
QoD & bookmonstercats, I know what you mean! I’ve put down a book a few pages from the end to stave off that feeling, and read a little at a time or put it off a day or two, like a kid trying to make the last of their halloween candy last.
I absolutely prefer paper-and-binding books to the electronic kind, but I guess that’s one selling point for the latter, if it means I couldn’t see the dwindling number of pages and know just how little is left of a really good one. Or to notice there aren’t enough pages left in which to resolve everything well, and realize that the ending of an otherwise good book is almost certainly about to disappoint me!
BStrange: Oh my goodness I know what you mean! I’ve not yet read a book on one of those pad thingys. To me, part of the whole experience of reading a book is turning the actual paper pages. Have any of you guys ever read/seen Fahrenheit 451? What would be the book you would memorize? I think maybe mine would be The Hobbit. Or maybe Gates of Fire. Or Dust.
Wow, peeps. My cat just ran on me. Seriously. I was sitting on the couch minding my own business when my cat suddenly jumped up there and ran across me with all of his claws out. He did that because he wanted food. So then while I was in the kitchen getting his food, he yelled at me the whole time. Sheesh, I think it’s maybe time to turn him in for a dog.
P.S. I would never really turn my cat in for ANYTHING. I actually really love him alot even though he would call the cops on me in a heart beat for something stupid like not having enough extra treats for him.
Kipling’s “The Jungle Book” is a contender. That one’s getting a lot of mention lately! “The White Seal”, “Rikki Tikki Tavi”, “Toomai of the Elephants” and some of the poems/songs between the stories (like the camp-animals’ song), I already practically had memorized when I was younger anyway.
That or one of my favorite Pratchett books, “Guards, Guards!”… it’s a toss-up.
BStrange: I know! I love that you’re playing! Trying to pick one favorite book is really hard, huh? Geez. I hadn’t even yet mentioned Laura Ingalls Wilder’s books. So many books to read. So many pages to turn….
My orange tabby was named Peachey Carnahan from The Man Who Would Be King and he was a charmer and a sweetheart. I miss Peachey very much. Good luck with both of your new kittehs and the older ones as well. A cat is a very special companion. The book I would memorize would be Maia by Richard Adams. Except that it is too long for memorization except maybe by a savant. But it is beautiful and exciting.
@Lerrinus I am glad to hear that you enjoy living in Toronto I have relatives living near Delhi which is south of Toronto (somewhere – hard to find on map on computer)
Hide and go to sleep.
Earhawks!!!
Hide and go sleep is my favorite game, too.
Cat goes belly up in the jean pool
He looks like he suffered a narcolepsy attack while reciting “The Charge of The Light Brigade”
Ohhh the belleh. Ohhh the ear floof. Ohhhhh the white paws and muzzlepowshe. Ohhhh, ohhhh, ohhhh.
Head exploded from the cute, now how am I going to finish my work day?
look at those whiskers! (I call dibs on belly-snorgling!)
wow. too cute it hurts!!
And just a hint of pink toe beans in the first picture! I’m next in line for belly snorgling!
Just thinking of the game has tired him out.
Marmalade Dreams
Picture yourself in a boat on a blue jean river,
With tangerine trees and marmalade kitty skies.
Somebody calls you, you answer quite slowly,
A cat with kaleidoscope eyes.

And she’s gone.

Lucy in the sky with kitties ,
Lucy in the sky with kitties,
Lucy in the sky with kitties,
your ear worm for the day!
What magnificent ear floof! Really!
I so want to go in face first to that belleh but I suspect it might cause some um, awkwardness with the person providing that lap. Guess I’ll have to get my belleh snorgles at home. *sigh* The sacrifices we make…
Why am I salivating?
**Somebody alert Skwirrel FC Theo: MARMIE!!!
**Kitteh+kitteh smile = “awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!”

Kitty hide and seek
Not the most exciting game,
But we play for hours.
OH!!!!!!…look at that…it’s a wee bit of marmalade fluffitude with just the right amount of fuzzy wuzzy on the tummy and in the ears for good measure!.
Wow…I suddenly have an urge for an Orange Crush!!
More like Cat-a-tonic! (Sounds like a mixed drink, doesn’t it?)
So fluffy and cute and relaxing! I mean, I don’t think I’m the only one who would rather be lying back in furry luxury, napping away the afternoon… Can I get a HONKSHU?!
Oh! Friday Haiku!
My human is so
Comfortabuhls I can lay
Like this forever!
Too cute! I am jealous of the lucky person under the kitten floof.
@Saffron: Are the new kittens boys, girls, one of each? Congrats on the new additions!
i love it when kitties put themselves in a completely vulnerable position like that. so utterly blissed out.
You can almost hear the li’l noggin soft-thunk against the person’s knee.
Saffron, congrats on the new kittehs!
I suggest Snowpea as a name! (ever humble, I am)
@ Saffron – Starburst and England?
It’s so fluffy I’m gonna die!
Ok, I know, but SOMEBODY had to say it.
Martha, I officially love you for that! I just saw Despicable Me for the first time last night at the drive-in movie, and I adored it. Loved it to bits. And Agnes, of course, was my favorite.
It’s so fluffeh! <3

@TrixandSam and MJ
Race you to the belly snorgling
The ear tufts! Why hasn’t anyone mentioned the EAR TUFTS?!
*Beat both TrixandSam and MJ to kitty*
*Began belly snorgling*
*Quickly move aside as TrixandSam and MJ began their belly snorgling on kitty*
@Saffron
Congraulations on your two new kitties
Are they both boys, girls or one of each?
Once I know, I could come up with suggestions for names
@Saffron: Tribble and Trouble? Sparkles and Twinkles? Hopes and Dream? Fuzz and Fluff? Nutty and Butter? Cocoa and Carob? Seeds and Weeds? Leo and Theo? Hugs and Bugs? Racer and Tracer? Peanuts and Popcorn? Sugar and Salt? Honey and Maple? (I’m Canadian, eh?) Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf? Major Tom and Minor Tom? (Yes, I’ve had a long week!
)
Fluffy orange baby loveliness!
@saffron: Congrats!
Rocky & Bullwinkle, Tom & Jerry, Cagney & Lacey, Frank & Lola, Harry & Sally, Lucy & Desi, Fred & Ginger, Garfield & Odie, Bucky & Satchel, Goofy & Pluto, Burt & Ernie, George & Gracie, Rhett & Scarlet…
Laverne and Shirley? Peanut Butter and Jelly? Pickles and Ice Cream? Saffron, please let us know what you name them! And hooray for you and the new kitties! Rain and Beau?
My family calls that a kitty coma! Love that pose!
I’m lovin the penguin feet and long ear fluff!!!!!!!!! oh and the perfectly formed stripes!!
The earhairs are killin’ me here.
Saffron: Kitty-envy congrats from me as well! Name-wise, I dunno… Knowing nothin’ but the colors, I’ll put Terra Apricotta and Nebel on the table.
@Meaghan: Soooo right! Absolute double-ear tuftitudiness!
Tuco and Pretty Eyes!
The Tuco and Pretty Eyes name, here’s the theme song: (I hope it will work)
Oh wait! It’s Angel Eyes or something like that. Or Blue Eyes or something. (No, that’s Frank Sinatra) Something about the eyes, right?
@ QoD: lemme guess; your best grades in school, were on
multiple-choice questions!!!!
@Saffron: Fred and Ethel. After the Mertz’s from I Love Lucy.
Oh, Fred and Ethel are great! Or how about that couple on the Honeymooners, Ralph and Alice?
O No: To this day I create multiple question pop quizzes from myself to myself and I’m pretty good at them.
That’s a pretty good strategy, Q!!
Maybe my grades would have been better, if I had used that system!!!
kitty, kitty~~!!
That pet-hair remover seen in the top photo = amazing. Way more efficient than the sticky tape kinds on microfiber and rugs. Cheap upholstery (like my Ikea footstools) still needs the sticky things, though.
And fluffy marmie = AWESOME.
Oh Saffron : How about Meg & Theo ?
Saffron-how about Strider and Arwen?
The ear fluff is to die for! My young tabby Frodo also has ear floofage that just seems to go right up me nose whenever I snorgle his ears. I LUV da EARS!
I really like those socks and mittens.
Is there a rule of cuteness “If you cross your paws over your face, it´s cute”? If not, there should be one! And OMG the *ear flooff*!
Marmies are DA BOMB! ! ! Rest in peace my dear Taffy.
Just look at those pink toe beans & white paddy paws. I’m in lurve…. <3
Kitteh is so fluffeh, there is no need for a privacy tail in pic #2.
QoD, Teh Good, Bad and Ugly is one of my all time faves.
@Barbarella: that should be rule no. 1!
*swoons from the fluff overload*
Love the lint brush in the background in the first pic — what pet owner DOESN’T have something like that lying around the house, eh? I’m forever forgetting where I left mine and get dizzy running around looking for it. :-b
Mudbug needs a prize of some sort for his/her/its entry! Sweet!
The marmie Theo-bait worked! See buns above.
Kitty names for grey and orange: Toast and Marmelade
I can die happy now.
Thanks for all the awesome comments everyone!
.
We’re very happy that Oscar “Ozzy” da Orange Cat made it onto this awesome site!
@Lerrinus
Nice to hear from a fellow Canadian
I live on the West Coast
Where are you?
@Saffron
That is a great idea to take those two kitties to a nursing home

Kittens are named…
since one is orange and the other gray, they are
Fafhrd and The Gray Mouser
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fafhrd_and_the_Gray_Mouser
From the Fritz Leiber stories that I ADORED and still have the books.

bookmonstercats: Me too. I really love that movie. I haven’t seen it in quite some time but wow! Is that not one of the greatest westerns ever?!
Okay! Everyone is invited to a party at my house. A Good, The Bad, And The Ugly Party! We’ll watch the movie and eat whatever food anyone likes: There’s food for those who like meat, those who eat vegetables and those wo are vegans or anybody who only would like to eat raw food! I guess it’s a bad idea as I’m moderated.

@Theresa: Just left of Toronto – I love walking around downtown!
I’ve never been to the west coast but my mom has family there!
Saffron: I must admit I haven’t heard of or read those books. I think I’ll get two little babies and name them Ramona and Howie. Here’s Ramona. *crap*

Oh! And since we’re on the subject of children’s books, NANCY DREW! NANCY DREW! THAT TITIAN-HAIRED TEEN DETECTIVE! YAY!

Oh and also: My cat is TOTALLY cracking me up right now. He’s trying to intimidate, kill and eat a french fry. Good grief.
I was more into Cherry Ames than Nancy Drew. She solved mysteries, too, but she was also a nurse. And she fought Nazis.
to be able to sleep like that is dreamy I wounder what the little guy is dreaming about?
Orange kitties are sooo wonderful! Love them!
that is the cute is thin i have ever seen.
Cute overload is right! Awwwwww the cuteness…
actually…our Zoe loves to play hide-n-seek…and she usually wins
