“… nine hundred and ninety eight, nine hundred and ninety nine, one thousand!”
“OK, did all you mice find a hiding place? Good, now stay there and let me sleep.”

We’d let a cutie like Isabella find us every time, Jessica C.
Cute Overload :D
the white part on her back kinda looks like a swan with wings around her…leda and the swan-ish
Cute!!!
How does he/she breathe when sleeping like that? :-O
The facepalm/headdesk combo: reserved for only the most epic of fails.
“What a week I’m having!”
Beyond adorable!
When we played hide and squeak my older sister and I used to make our little sister hide, we’d count to 100 and then we’d go off and do something else. My poor little sister dutifully stayed hidden once for 3 hours waiting for us to find her…
That’s awesome! I’ve had cats before, but I don’t ever remember them playing hide and go seek where ‘they’ were the one that was hiding. It was usually me who was doing the hiding.
With Love and Gratitude,
The Intentional Sage
Too cute! My kitteh likes to sleep with his head completely curled under like this sometimes but this is redonkulous! The pawses! Oh the pawses!
(the first time my kitteh did this I was “can he breathe okay?” Evidently they can but it’s still a little scary.)
Buddhist Cat prays for noms…
That’s hilarious!
My cats do that hole paw over the eyes sleeping all the time but usually only one paw at a time.
Sorry tread Jack
I’m watching a documentary on the old TV show Skippy the kangaroo.
Boy does it bring back memories! It’s the first time I’m hearing the original soundtrack I use to watch it in french!
My brother still uses that Skippy whistle to call me if we are in a crowded place!
That pose is awesome! CO, you make me laugh every day! Thanks!
Hidden Kitten Sleeping Cat.
There is only one thing better than this, it is when kitteh is on your lap and has fallen asleep like this with their face and paws curled up on your hand. Course this only happens to me just as I’m about to get up. :-/
Our Miss Bella is a champion finder though. Lucky and the others keep hiding from her. They’ve yet to figure out this sneaky plan.
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.
Aww, gray and white, just like my Jaz! Although she prefers other odd sleeping habits, like under the comforter, or in a nest of pillows…
My cat does this all the time. Too cute
Stinky would often sleep with his paws over his eyes. It looked so funny, like “I can’t TAKE you people anymore!”
Here he is, trying to block out unpleasant realities:

“There is only one thing better than this, it is when kitteh is on your lap and has fallen asleep like this with their face and paws curled up on your hand. Course this only happens to me just as I’m about to get up. :-/” ABSOTIVELY POSILUTELY!
Cats are clever. They often look as though they just can’t be comfortable, but they just are.
Theresa: Stinky was precious! ♥
I think particular kitteh is making a political statement about the economic (or eco-NOM-ic) crisis.
Naturally, by taking a nap.
–bossgripes.com
theresa – stinky is black and white too?!
1: (pardon my use of a virtual curseword) Friggin’ aDORable!!!
2: Nikki: did you all ever ascertain your sister’s whereabouts?
I’m worrying about her now…….
My favorite kind of cat; extra large! >^.^<
PS @ Theresa: Stinky looks VERY happy, Theresa —
I am at the end of my rope! I.just.can’t.take.it.anymore.
HARUMPH!
Theresa, Stinky is adorable!!
Theresa: Stinky is beautiful in those pictures! Today, my daughter and I went and purchased a bunch of stuff for the totally spoiled SamKitty…lots of food, treats and brand new bowls. I was afraid to buy him any IAMS products though, as I heard there was recently a recall on their food. Has anyone heard anymore about that and if their food is safe now? I saw some on the shelves but didn’t think I should let Sammie eat it yet. Any input from peeps on that situation?
@Kibblenibble, ONH/S/ID, QoD, he was the BEST cat ever. He was the cuddliest of the cuddly.
QoD, and all the cwaziest peeps, a little something SPECIAL for youse!!!
Theresa: I LOVE AND ADORE this vid! So fabulous! I so understand how much you miss Stinky. I really miss my baby Picard, too. Stand by as I try to find something equally entertaining and hilarous as what you posted.
hmmmmmmm. I have no idea how to top that. hmmmmmmmm. let’s see…
Crap. Why do you have to set the bar so high? hmmmmmmmmm.
Shoot. I’m sort of stumped…
Snow? Mary? Car? Hat? Mini-cold-weather-over-coat?
??? Does this work? Yes?
@Kris, all my cats have been black and white. I love all kinds of cats, and have WANTED all kinds of cats, but I always seem to get black and white.
Different varieties of black and white– Stinky was a black and white cookie, Dante and Mimi were Oreos.
@QoD, I once walked in the same park in Minneapolis where that was filmed. It was full of Canadian geese crapping everywhere.
I love this!
@Theresa, who was the actress in that wonderful spoof vid? Was it Jerry lewis’s big sis? Must have more.
Just found it – my Windows Explorer isn’t working properly. Thanks for the vid. Made my Sunday morning!
Theresa: Gross.
Speaking of Minnesota, my sister and I once drove past the start of the Mississippi River there once. It looks like such a little trickle there!
ive just had my breakfast and my mam is making my luch, plus if i dont eat all my lunch, no horseriding or no cake! im in a coma here, help!
theresa – black and white cats are the best.
my atilla was 15 years old, he wore a tuxedo.
it’s been 4 years and i miss him every day/
kris and Theresa: My cat Fat Albert was also black and white and beautiful! I grew up with him. He came to live with us as a birthday present to me on my 5th birthday and was my best friend until I was 17. He was the best and such a love.
does anyone else find male cats extra loving/posessive of their moms?
more so than female kittehs.
all the beloved black & whites mentioned are boys.
kris: I don’t know why but I’ve always had male cats and they have always been very sweet. My SamKitty who I live with currently is of course a boy and as much as I yack about him being so demanding about his contract and all of that and how I must abide by all the stipulations in said contract, he is really such a sweetheart and he knows it. (although he would never admit it) as were my babies Fat Albert and Picard. I should write a soap opera called, All My Kitties.
qod – i have the country song title.
he left his claw marks on my heart.
kris: Excellent! And also:
Why Do I Have These Claw Marks On My Shoulders? (My T-shirts have little, puncture holes)
(Country western top 10)
you make me laff out loud!!
my fitted sheets all have many magic puncture marks on the corners, as does the bar of soap under my pillow. keeps monsters away.
“One, two, skip a few, ninety-nine, one hundred!
Later, we’re going to have a scavenger hunt for all my toys under the fridge.”
Let’s have a scavenger hunt now! Everyone has to go online and turn in the following:
1) a picture of a rainbow
2) an essay on slugs
3) a song about sweat
4) a picture, essay and song about paper clips
5) a description of the sky
Yay! Ready? Set? Go!
@Bookmonstercats, her name was Carmen D’Antonio, and her real job was as quite a sultry specialty dancer. She had a nightclub act that was very big in Hollywood, and she was regularly called upon to do big dance numbers in the movies.
@Pyrit, did you ever see the “My Cat Annie” videos? One was Annie and her human “reenacting the 1922 discovery of King Tut’s tomb, using the refrigerator and a coat hanger. ”
http://www.zefrank.com/annie/navigation.html
@Kris, my tiny Mimi was really a lovely, sweet kitty, and butter wouldn’t melt in her mouth:
http://pets.webshots.com/photo/1203810491054217802iBNZxa
She had a very pronounced personality, though. She had more moods than my boycats- don’t get me wrong, they have personalities, too, but they are much more like, “I’m a happy guy just about all the time.” Mimi was like me– different in different situations, with different people. She also really, really had to have things her way.
Baby Stinky came when she had been ruling the roost by herself for almost ten years, and she was not pleased. I remember her opening her little mouth and cussing for the first time in her entire life– I never knew where she picked up such language!
(yawn)
(I feel rather like Isabella looks in the pic)
(yawn again)
(Q — sent something to your email…)
(plink) (plink)
(uh oh — it seems she has fallen over a cliff or something.
Maybe I landed in a Road Runner cartoon.
Let me look around, for any vehicles or weapons marked “Acme Mfg” ….)
Allo Theresa! “My Cat Annie” – not familiar to me. But I have seen ZayFrawnk! I’m at work now, so I look forward to clicky teh linky when I get home. Fanks!
QoD, pardon me Miss? For number 2, can it be sea slugs? About number 3. Will you give credit for glowing?
Yes. and yes. That would be great!
(@ pyrit: *giggle* using “glowing” in replacement of “sweating”, giggle)
I think we might have to send out a search party for Q, pyrit; I haven’t gotten any response from the email I sent to her from a couple of hours ago….
Signed,
Worrying & Fretting
O NO – Where could QoD could be!!!! Hmmmm? She’s sooo sneakeh.
Did you look between the bed linens and the mattress???
Y’know how thin she is….
(sigh)
I suppose it’s TOO LATE now.
She must have expired; gone to meet her Maker.
She must be …an EX-parrot.
Signed,
Norwegian Blue,
(pining for the Fjords)
Let’s have a search party! I’ll get the hats and decorations.
wow — what kind of hats do we use and what kind of decorations??
Sounds like fun!!
BTW — I already looked under the piggie w/ red boots post ….
@ Deb! (#26) – When the cat’s a weigh, the mice will play. And I mean that in the nicest weigh.
O NO – Aw, no luck finding QoD? Did you look at #60?
I know — she wrote that at the same time I wrote mine and
since then I haven’t found her ennywhere…lemme go check my email inbox again ….
I iz counting to ten!!!!
Okay, I must contribute: My one and only black and white cat was a gorgeous long-haired tuxie named Witchie. (I didn’t name her…I was her fourth human.) Poor baby had been passed around from person to person until she found me. She belonged to the woman from whom I rented a room, and had been left behind with that woman by the last renter. When I moved in, she decided that she belonged to me, and slept with me–no, ON me–every night from then on. When I moved out, the landlady said, “Well, you know, you have to take her with you.” I replied, “I planned on it.” She was my soul mate, truly. I miss her so.
Hi kibblenibble — how sweet that she claimed you as hers.
My boy Salinger did the same for me; however he doesn’t fit the stories here of being a black/white tuxedo guy ….
how nice to hear your fond memories
It’s a little known fact that cats breathe through their ears, as shown in the photo.
Here I am you guys!
I was busy with those little things that life throws at you.
Alley Cat.
In our back alley there prowls an old cat,
with its ears all ragged and torn.
For him, no place on a fireside mat,
No love to keep him warm.
On moonlit nights you hear him call,
no melodious tones of delight.
He’s probably mixed in some kind of brawl,
for this cat it loves to fight.
As I lay awake in my bed at night,
when sleep comes not to my eyes.
Do I have pity for its plight,
as I listen to its nocturnal cries?
Once it was loved by human kind,
a fluffy little bundle of joy.
But alas it grew, independent of mind,
and was not deceived by man’s ploy.
I saw him last with feline mate,
his eyes looked proudly into mine.
He dared me somehow to share his fate,
inferring that a cat’s life, it is fine.
But I am soft, I like my ease,
independence is hard to achieve.
A book by the fire, I’m easy to please,
at least that’s what I believe.
So if you see him prowling by night,
remember it was his own choice.
Try not to disturb his cat-like delight,
with your loud human voice.
Life With A Cat.
Have you shared your life with a Cat for a pet?
It is the best experience you will ever get.
Independent, free in mind she surely rules the day,
We poor human folk have nothing indeed to say.
A living example of independence sublime,
We just give in to her most of the time.
She rewards us with a purr so sweet,
That we humans are just swept off our feet.
She is haughty proud and intelligent.
Time with your cat is very well spent.
Sometimes she has her ups and downs,
Her face is unreadable she never frowns.
She can bite and she can scratch,
In courage she can a human match.
If you do not believe what I say is true,
Then get yourself a cat one will do.
Live the adventures with a young kitten,
You will be with the love bug smitten.
On your lap she will purr away,
And surely fulfil you a happy day.
@Theresa
Sounds like you had many sweet black and white kitties who all adored you
@kibblenibble
Sounds like your Witchie had cast her love spell on you and you did not mind one bit
I love Teresa with all of her smiles to everyone!
looks like monday came a bit earlier for this kitty than everyone else.
I didn’t catch the mouse fing I so wanted! I hate that! So ashamed! I’ll cover my eyes so no one can see me. Wish I had a box to stick my head in though…everyone can see me even less there…
Peeps, Dante is asleep next to me, and all four paws are twitching madly! It’s hilarious!
Theresa — sshh!!! You don’t want Dante to know you thought he was funny!!!
He must remain convinced of his FELINE FEROCITY!!!
Black and white cats are my favourite, I have two tux boys. With the warm weather I hardly see them, they just come in for food, then disappear.
SamKitty just yelled at me about something and went outside with Boots. Sam said he’s on strike which is a joke because he doesn’t do anything anyway.
LOL
@QoD, they don’t do anything. Here is Stinky being my research assistant.:
http://pets.webshots.com/photo/1125593255054217802NRdNDZ
He was a terrible research assistant.
The thing that really drives me crazy is that when the phone rings, they always go running to it like insane things, but do they ever pick it up? NOoooOOOoooOOO.
Theresa: Hmmmmmmmm. Was he researching the effects of how eyelids fall closed over the eyeballs when one is asleep?
Sammie came back inside. He said my daughter is fired and I need to evict her. *sigh*
…..um, Theresa???
I have an Informational Inquiry.
Was Stinky ….ALWAYS ….so…erm….
demure and shy, as evidenced in this particular photo????
Signed,
Curious
SamKitty and Boots just TOTALLY cracked me up! Sammie was lying there like a furry slug on the floor. Boots came over and licked him a couple of times and then sort of lost interest. Then, Boots was just kind of standing there looking around. I looked down at SamKitty and noticed that his mouth was hanging open sort of in a I’m-prepared-to-hiss-if-I-have-to position. Then Boots sort of sauntered away without actually doing anything to Sam but Sam did this totally late hiss anyway, sort of like, “oh what the hell. my mouth is already open so I guess I might as well hiss.”
@ONH/S/ID, Oh yeah, that was him. He was always definitely mighteh, mighteh, lettin’ it ALL hang out.
I used to say that Mimi was a no-nonsense cat, and Stinky was an all-nonsense cat.
Hai-Hai Theresa, and ha-ha! I spent some time getting to know ZeFrank’s cat, Annie, but I realise I didn’t see the King Tut’s Tomb vid! My favorite was Annie’s boot fetish. I have those same boots.
Awww, Isabella’s a dead ringer for my Nellie!
hmmm…..
“isaBELLa”…..”nELLie”……surely there’s some philosophically profound purpose behind this synchronicity in names of these B & W felines…..
“He left his claw marks on my heart.” There really is an album called “A Cat-Shaped Hole In My Heart,” compiled by various indie-type artists who know what it’s like to lose a kitty. Not all the music on the CD is to my taste, but it’s the kind of CD I can’t listen to if I’m in the wrong mood because I’ll go all Niagara Falls in the eyeballs, if you know what I mean, and I think you do. I bought it at least ten years ago, so I don’t know where you’d find it nowadays.
Male cats: yes, generally my male cats are much more lovable than the female. But there’s the Big Three: Niko; his brother, Oscar; and Murphy. These three will typically pose themselves in a big puddle o’luv snugglepile. Gabby, the lone female, is lovable, but is very particular about when she receives her loving. Same with Philo, the youngest male.
So balled up, almost resembles a tribble.
Noelegy: “Niagara Falls in the eyeballs” is one of those great phrases which, having been read, I know is going to emerge from my mouth someday.
QoD@91: I’m an occasional-type online gamer, so I read that and my first thought was: “LAAAAAAAAAAAAG.”
On the male cats or female cats being more affectionate, topic: The most “can’t get enough luvvins” cat EVAR in my life was female, but I think the second and third slots both go to males. Who were also her older brothers….So, hmm….
Cat Lag.
Speaking of phrases that are going to haunt me awhile… *snicker*
BStrange: Hahahaha! Cat Lag. I just hope Sammie doesn’t come online and see that I was talking about him. If he does I can expect a call tomorrow from his attorney at the law firm of Dewey, Chewem and Howe. (gulp)
“Now stay there and let me sleep.” Snerk! Love it!
cute!!!!!pic a boo i c u jajajajaja
The boggieman can’t get me if I can’t see him……
@Queen of Dork
Why thank you
@Noelegy
I have the CD “A Cat-Shaped Hole In My Heart” and I agree with you about the Niagara Falls in the eyeballs when listening to that CD
Funny commentary! Cats are very good at sleeping.
Reminds me of my son when plays hide and seek…”Im not PEeekin” lol
Or he praying…Im sorry I ate the canary I promise to be better tomorrow!
