  18. BStrange says:

@Meaghan: Baby raccoons get their masks at roughly two weeks old if I remember correctly. I came by this information thanks to the following:

A neighbor’s teenaged daughter came home one evening with a “lost puppy” once, that she’d found beneath a tree. When her parents called in help to identify the breed (“some sort of terrier, maybe?”), the “puppy” was recognized as a one-week-old baby raccoon. They refused to believe it at first because of the lack of mask and stripes! Behbeh not-puppy went to a wildlife rescue the next morning. 😀

  19. BStrange says:

…Her parents LOVED telling that story, by the way. Every time she pulled a teenager smart-aleck on them in front of other people, out came the “Raccoon Tale” to remind her that nobody knows everything. 🙄
