Kitties are the best. The “I grant you permission to adore me” hovertext is spot on. This is the pose my kitties always take when I tell them how beautiful they are. Like, “Yes, I am beautiful. Now, take a look at this. My grace is unparalleled.” They’re too much!

Wow! I often call my dog “Monkey Pants” (although that is not his name).
I have seen that Buffy ep, long ago, but I didn’t consciously think of it when I started calling him that. I might have been subconsciously channeling it, though. Monkey Pants is the best name ever. Especially for mischevious creatures with fuzzy pantaloons.

As I’m sure you’re aware, cats may have names which are not their Names. Yes, I’m a fan of T.S. Eliot. Anyhoo, my Philo has been known as “Kittenpants” almost from his entrance into our household, although that’s even morphed into “Philo Pants” or “Baby Pants” if I’m feeling particularly sappy.
So “Monkey Pants” was a win even without the “Buffy” reference, but with it, it’s splendiferous!
P.S. Sometimes it’s, “Hey Philo, how’s your pants?” I’m pathetic, I know.
Oh, good, I’m not the only one wondering how I missed this…..
And why oh why [sigh] won’t my Ezri girl let me come close when she’s positioned like that?!??!!? It’s not like I pounce for uncontrollable snorgle…..oh wait….never mind!

@noelegy – I agree that cats have many names (of which only a few may be revealed to us). Monkey’s full name is: Monsieur Monkey Pants Elliot Elevensies. His sister (who is pouting over Monkey’s sudden fame and adulation) is Mademoiselle Pixie Stardust Twinkle-Toes.
Carol B., I am ridiculously pleased that you have paid tribute to not only Buffy but LOTR in the naming of your fluffy friend. I only wish I had been more creative in the naming of my four legged kids. You rock!!!
