Watch for the hug 20 seconds in!

Let’s get huggular. AT TWENTY SECONDS IN!

Hey Kristin P., Smeagol just gives and gives, doesn’t he?

  1. LOVE the name. What a sweetie pie! Cat hugs are the best:P

  2. d’aw. love the squish to the arm.

  3. BStrange says:

Awwwwww. Wooly-lamb-furred Devon Rex hugs! *oozes envy. and rainbows.*

  4. EZReader says:

Presscioussss (as everyone else will probably say)

  5. Wrecked rex wreaks havoc!

  6. Sleepy kitty, best thing in the world. So soft and warm ❤

  7. Queen of Dork says:

Ohmygosh! How cute! My two are now in separate corners…one in the bathroom and the other one in the kitchen. Both are lying on the tile sleeping and pretending that they did not just have a big argument. Neither one of them gave me such a sweet hug as this.

  8. Mary (the first) says:

So, I was going to ask what kind if kitteh is that and already, two people have said! Very interesting looking and looks SO soft and cuddly! ** smooch** to the kitteh!

  9. crackjob says:

Cats really are the best sleepers in the world.

Also, I defy you to watch a cat napping and NOT get immediately sleepy.

  10. 260Oakley says:

    Tyranno-Snoreus Rex

  11. That is so dang cute! Cats rock!

  12. Mel Drake says:

I feel like that today! Like yawning and hugging someone

  13. BStrange says:

Oakley for the win again. 😀

  14. Smeagol wants the precious (hug). Always he is looking for it. And the precious is wanting to go back to him!

  15. Aw, a cat who hugs right. Unlike mine, who will hug me, then give me the bitey just to remind me they don’t come without a price.

  16. Michael says:

I like that he hugs his human so hard and with so much wub that it makes his ears twitch.

  17. Nice privacy tail!

  18. Oh, how smushie!!! Stinky was a huggular cat. Dante is tantalizingly cuddly looking, but he won’t let me!!!

  19. PS Adorable eye-squeeze at 5 secs!!!

  20. BStrange says:

You can see where he picked up a name like Smeagol (love it). Devon kittens look even more like wrinkly-browed little aliens. The little paw-curl at 0:03 is kyoooot!:

  21. BStrange says:

Theresa: The two huggable-est-looking cats we ever had were both anti-hug as well. *SIGH* Unfair.

  22. OMG, that was so cute I had to watch it 3 times!

Then I went and hugged my cat. :–)

  23. BStrange says:

One more Bonus Cute. Just because a mellow wolfhound + a tiny kitten = automatic AWW.

  24. @BStrange, WOW! Night on Mount Wolfhound. 😀

  25. Hon Glad says:

Katy, My two hug and as you say follow it with a play bite, to show they’re not a total pushover. I like Smeagols bent ear.

  26. PS On Smeagol vid, EPIC privacy tail!

  27. BStrange says:

@Theresa – Uh huh! I couldn’t figure out what the kitty was sneefing at, and suddenly this gigantic head came into the frame.

*watches hug vid again. Must have more brainbows!* Devons being less furry than the cats I’ve had, I have to wonder whether Smeagol hugs are extra-warm. Aw.

  28. OMG how cute was that

  29. @BStrange, Smeagol looks like Devons are a lot like hairless Sphynx cats in build and personality. They look VERY ET-ish, but aspire to massive cuddliness. 😉

  30. His name is “SMEAGOL”??? That’s fantastic, my Precious!!!

  31. Queen of Dork says:

hmmmmm. I wish my cat respected the concept of privacy tail. But he doesn’t. He just lays on his back with his back legs all splayed out displaying his junk to everybody. He has no shame.

  32. BStrange says:

@Theresa – That’s what I was thinking of; Sphynxes are nicknamed “hot water bottles”. 🙂

  33. kibblenibble says:

Zuzzie: I agree. This video really demonstrates most of the things I adore about sleepy kitties. My George hugs my hand this way sometimes. 🙂

  34. chanpon says:

Can he teach that to my kitties, when he has time?

  35. O NO (he/she/or it) DI'UNT!!!!! says:

    Hey QoD:
Isn’t that what I suggested to you earlier? Try to get the two combatants to opp ends of tha house?

  36. Lucy's Mommeh says:

I had the fortune of holding a Rex cat once. He was so funny, he was so mouthy, all grumpy & growly at another cat, but not taking it out on me. That was easily the softest cat I have ever held. Like microfleece…

  37. When I try that with my sleeping Rugby, he grabs my hand and bites. Hard!

  38. I love how that one kitten has to walk for WEEKS from the wolfhound’s tail to his enormous head.

  39. Lorel J says:

I love Kristin P’s voice, and the way she says “A hug.” She should do vo work, especially for kid’s stuff.

  40. Queen of Dork says:

Are there any animal docs out there? I noticed this on the cat in the vid as well as on my cat. At the base of a kitty’s ear, there’s this strange and captivating flap type of thing which is kind of like a…I don’t know. A flappy, open thing on the ear. Right on the bottom part of the ear. What is that thing and what is its purpose to the cat?

  41. BStrange says:

Far as I know, it’s like the fold lines in a paper grocery bag, for when the cat pins or swivels its ear. “Bend Ear Here To Hear Better Behind You”?

As for what it’s called, I looked, but it seems to be considered just a part of the pinna (outer ear).

  42. Lucy's Mommeh says:

Queen of Dork…if you go to the Daisy the Curly Cat blog, she actually went over this…but I can’t remember how long ago. I will ask her mommeh…

  43. Queen of Dork says:

Lucy’s Mommeh: I will check that out because I’m pretty curious about why my cat has that thing on his ears and he won’t tell me. I asked him and he just said, “mind your own business, you nosey creep.”

  44. BStrange says:

Progress! Thanks Lucy’s Mommeh (see, I’m all curious now too). I found the Daisy TCC page on it, which gives a name, but I can’t find the original comment at the blog it links to, and even when I googled on Henry’s Pocket I didn’t get much. Here’s the Daisy entry though:

Not related exactly, but another What Is That Part Of My Cat Called I stumbled across in my search:

  45. MamaLana says:

    Such cuteness overwhelms.

  46. @BStrange, why that is the Fat Flap, or the Modesty Flap, or the Wibble Wobble While You Walk Bit.

  47. BStrange says:

@Theresa: Or, if you prefer, the Leopard Flap:

  48. 😀 AWW 😀 What cuties 😀

  49. 😆 I think the little kitty thought the big dog was a mommy and wanted to see if he/she could nurse off her 😆

  50. Beside the hug that gave me a cuteness explosion inside I love the fur looking like these of a recently shaved lamb 😀 awwww, seems soo soft *want some*.

  51. awwww! i think he stretched his toesies too while he was huggingks. ahhnnnnnnn

  52. uiah hodgson says:

Love the hug… BUT can’t resist the ear folding. Just soooo Cute.

  53. How do you not get down at hug him back?

  54. That is the sweetest thing I’ve seen in forever! What a good kitty! I want a hug, too. Is (s)he a Cornish Rex?

  55. @Queen of Dork, Those folds in a kitty’s ear are so they can hear at night.

  56. the kitty totally trusts the hand.

  57. fifthsonata says:

    Love the hug!

Also love the big yawn showing the missing tooth 🙂

  58. Space Cowgirl says:

  59. omg .. that is too cute. i love his oversized folded over ear at the end. and HUGS?? omg. i want a devon/cornish rex cat thing.

  60. catlover says:

Wasn’t the hug more like 16 second in?

  61. Aw, finally a Cornish Rex! I’m a proud owner of one curly smoooth kitteh. Be prepaird for some cute kitteh photos in august when I pick up one more of them, then 12 weeks old.

  62. *SQUUUIIISH* 🙂

  63. Aww….he looks so soft and huggy ^^

  64. Sweetums! I wants a curly kitteh.
