In what will surely be all the rage this summer at fine east coast homes everywhere, buyers should be aware that the Bowzai Shrubs come with both pros and cons. The downside is they’ll most likely scare the underpants off your unassuming, friendly mailman; however, on the plus side, they seem to have a built-in sprinkler system.

Ugh, they’re just going to go after the pussy willows again, Christy. Via Garden Rant.

wow, those doggies sure are bushy-tailed!
Is the foxglove coming into full bloom?
what the…..
That’s awesome!
Love ‘em!
anndd they’rrre off!
looks like a greyhound race! or possibly I’m just biased because that’s my retired-racer in the pic, there : D
Whoa, trippy topiary!
Hey look, Druid Dogs!
Spectacular!
Ugh, now I have that song stuck in my head
are they dogwood?
what you need now is a bush sculpted in the shape of a cat, or a car, that the dogs could be chasing.
Mr. Burns voice: Release the hounds!
I swear they’ve managed to get eyes and smiles on them. That’s either remarkable horticultural skill, or the human drive for pattern recognition working overtime.
I snorked at the “ruffage” tag!
Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war
I am going to make some of these around my birdfeeder to see if they will keep the damned penguins away.
PIGEONS! Pigeons, not penguins. My brain is tired.
Penguins is funnier, skippymom. LOL!
I only wish I could have penguins at my birdfeeder.
ahh, Ladew Gardens. was just there a little over a week ago…it’s a very nice topiary garden.
Immediately made me think of the Shining (Book).
Yay Ladew Topiary Gardens! I’m going at the end of the month! Fabulous gardens, adorable topiary, and a decent historic house tour too (and yes, I *am* an expert). (Is it sad or commendable that I recognized those doggie shaped bushes before the whole photo had even loaded on my screen?)
The Shining topiary = evil. These topiary on the other hand are adorabuhls!
chanpon, yes yes yes. the shining hedge animals just scared me to death, read it as a middle aged adult and was scared to reach out to turn off the light, one might bite me.
that’s the first thing i thought of when i saw this post.
shiver….
angela, brrrrrr, me, too. Have never recovered from that book.
Looks like Edward Scissorhands has been busy…
Most excellent! I see faces too, Theresa!
How about a photo credit? That’s mine.
at first I thought it was a wolf pack lol…..
Never mind; at least you give the link. I loooove this site and really need it when I’m down.
skippymom: Your penguin pigeon mix up caused me to laugh which I needed!
Oh this so brought a smile to my face and then I read Skippymom’s comment and LOL I am still giggling!
The Shining exactly bwahahahahaha.
And LOL penguins!
Dang; all the good puns are taken……
I don’t usually say “want!” because I know live animals are a huge responsibility, and I already have three who own my heart. But this! Stays outside, eats minimally, never poos. Want!
Prongs, you rock.
skippymom,
They would want to play with YOU.
Penguins are highly social and would want nothing to do with your birdseed.
I know you meant pigeons, but penguins is much funnier as AuntieMame said.
Penguins would prefer sardines or mullet.
Who let the dogs out???!!
@Susan Harris: Nice photo – perfect for this site, which is almost always thought or squeee-provoking!
Look, sir…droids! I mean dogs!
@Heather and the Boston Terriers
Did you mean millet?
I’d like to see a penguin with a mullet!
Has anyone else read Stephen King’s ‘The Shining’? This picture gives me the CREEPS!!
Yes, Ladew Topiary Gardens near Baltimore, and, re Meaghan #12, they DO have a fox that they’re chasing, and a huntsman on a horse following them. Unless those bushes died since last year. (Sorry, I was out of town and came late to the comments.)
I LOVE YOUR PHOTO
IT IS SO CUTE
