Also doesn’t work from puerto rico! Booo :_( Will have to watch when I get homez.

  2. Carolyn says:

Yeah! And us Canadians would appreciate them too! Boo too!!
Eh?? (<— shamelessly thrown in to prove I'm Canadian and looking for back up)

  3. Reineke says:

It doesn’t work in Oregon, either.

  4. Theresa says:

    Holy !@#!@#!

  5. Violet says:

I have seen flying fish in real life (not the egg laying part, but the flying part) They were so amazing. It felt so special to be there.

  6. JohnnieCanuck says:

This clip contains about a third of the one above. It will give you a taste.

  7. minecritter says:

Pretty cool, but where’s the cute? Can someone get Oprah to say “deedle deedle deedle?” That might do it. :)

P.S. I’m in Oregon, and it worked for me.

  8. kokobutterbuns says:

No worky up here in Canada…

  9. Vicki says:

I like the behind the scenes clip from this episode where flying fish were literally flopping into the videographers in the dingy. Quite LOLsy.

  10. sneezy says:

THAT IS SO BADASS!!! those little fishies can use their tail fins to RUN across the waves!

i’m not digging Oprah’s voice for the narration though. what was wrong with Sir David Attenborough or Sigourney Weaver?

  11. Anasztaizia says:

For those outside the US, the BBC should have it available for viewing (minus Oprah’s voice and plus a sweet British dude)

  12. 260Oakley says:

Fly Finnish Airways, just for the halibut. In-flight caviar included.

  13. Carolyn says:

@JohnnieCanuck THANKS!!! That was beautiful and amazing!
@minecritter … if that was Oprah, Richard Attenborough sounds JUST like her ;o)

  14. Anonymous Coward says:

@260Oakley: are you some sort of “defrocked” lawyer or something? your puns are quite devilish indeed!

on another note, these videos are not from bbc’s “planet earth”, but rather from this new series “life”, right?

hmmm, if this is the case, time to hit amazon.co.uk and orther some blue-rays!

  15. Versicle says:

Unfortunately complaining to Discovery Channel won’t do anything. It’s not them that blocks it, it’s the country’s copyright laws. Looks like I’ll just have to go get the whole series and watch it. How unfortunate ;)

  16. crazy weinerdog lady says:

When I was on a cruise to Mexico I was looking over the ship and saw flying fish. It was soooo awesome!

  17. Flutterby says:

Way cool! They almost look like dragonflies.

  18. Doggabone says:

@Carolyn: The U.S. edition was narrated by Oprah. Which I assume – since I can’t see it – was the source of the clip up top. I’m assuming you can’t see it either, natch.

Eep, sorry. Took me too long to get it up and I should have refreshed. That post can be deleted there.

In other news, NEAT. I can’t wait until I can buy David’s one in June.

  21. Danger says:

I see flying fish a few times a year, when I’m in the Caribbean. Every time I see them, I can’t help but squeal.

But when they accidentally smack into your face, it really hurts.

  22. starla says:

    Hmmm not so much cute.

  23. I can’t see the video, becauce “Discovery prohibits it tot watch it in your country”, but I can ship the bait for the flying fish to every country :-)
Flying fish or flyfishing? In case of flyfishing have a look at http://www.1000fliegen.ch. I am wondering: What kind of bait is needed to catch a flying fish?

  24. AuntieMame says:

    Enough bitching about Oprah already!

And three (of five) posts out of thousands that some of you can’t see.

    Waaaaah!

  25. Erin K says:

The “if we can’t see a video, no one can!” attitude from the non-USA commenters today is not in keeping with the usual generosity of spirit I’ve experienced from the readers of Cute Overload! Keep teh cute spirit alive!

  26. Erin K says:

SOME non-USA commenters. Sorry about the gross generalization in my wording. I love you, world commenters!

  27. Jessy says:

“Who’s your daddy?” is definitely the unanswerable question in the flying fish community.

  28. Ritaya says:

    Lol @ Jessy.

I never realized how beautiful flying fish are! Ludicrous, yes, but beautiful!

  29. Violet says:

I love this stuff, but I really wish they had gotten someone else to do the narration. Its not that Oprah has a bad voice, It just doesn’t do it for me. I am a Sir Richard fan.

  30. Allie says:

I never thought fish could be so CUTE! I love how they’re all like “wiggle wiggle FLAP FLAP weeeeeeeeee!”

  31. Sue says:

I will certainly complain to Discovery Channel, but why doesn’t CO just feature some of the BBC show on one of their posts to balance it out? I can watch them on Youtube myself, but it would certainly be nice to see both here.

  32. That is almost too bizarre for words.
Did anyone else have strange parents, or was it just me? My Mom used to say to me; “Fishy fishy eats a fly, gulps it down & rolls his eye”. I won’t even go to the watermelon song!

  33. Caitlin says:

Oh no!! All the little fish eggs on sushi are flying fish roe….and now I kinda feel bad for having eaten so very many of them. They’re beautiful out of the water!
