Après-April Fools Leftovers

Thanks for putting up with yesterday’s April Fool’s trickery. Since some people asked, here are two videos that we used in pranks, in their unadulterated form.

Schnauzer vs. Elmo: Who will prevail?

Buddy laying around in the sink:

  1. Biscuit Tin says:

I thought only siamese cats felt they must answer or die, but Buddy seems quite the compulsive marmalade talker. And the purring! So sweet!

  2. elledoubleyou says:

I just breezed through yesterday but didn’t comment — but I have to say, great April Fool’s Day stuff, Eds. I am amuse. AND I am approve. 😀

(the bad grammar is deliberate before anyone mocks)

Biscuit: My little tabby-looking Tortie is the same way, but she actually is half Siamese — You just can’t tell by looking at her 🙂

  3. Biscuit Tin says:

When Elmo suddenly lashed backward at the dog at :47, I jumped. Cheese and rice! I wouldn’t have one of those nasty, noisy furry things in my house for love or money! Elmo, I mean.

  4. That Elmo toy is actually really terrifying XD Totally agree with the dog.

    What a cute pup.

  5. @Biscuit Tin, all my tuxedo kitties have been talkers. They didn’t have the harsh, assertive voice of Meezers, they have sweet little inquiring voices, that are funny in their own way. Except they all have the Territorial Hour in the evening when they go swaggering around yowling like hairy beasts. 😆

  6. GingerBean says:

Schnauzer bark translation: “will you stop it!? that’s annoying! shut UP! what are you LAUGHING at you red, furry maniac?!” lol

Oh my god…I had an orange tabby named Buddy! Fat and sweet like this Buddy, too 🙂 My black cat Chloe responds like this guy- even more so. She has to be part of every conversation. The compulsion to talk is strong in that one. She’s part Bengal, though I don’t know if they’re a talkative breed.

  7. MamaLana says:

Buddy and Elmo and the Schnauzer all had me rolling on the floor laughing. I do agree that Elmo is a hairy beast!

  8. Somebody, quick, get me an Elmo, lend me a dog, and please include a couple battery refills, as I do not intend to get tired of this!

    hahah ahahahahah haha hahaaaa
    *goes to re-play*

  9. LaureninGeorgia says:

My tuxedo, who is half Siamese, answers me, chases me through the house, and comes when she is called. If it weren’t for her clawing, she would be the perfect cat.

  10. Get him little doggy, I’m with I don’t like him either.

My tabby is a talker, he answer when you talk to him and tells you when he wants to be fed or petted. When he stopped talking a couple of years ago we new something was wrong, we took him to the vet and found out he was diabetic. Now we know, when he stops talking back it time to adjust his insulin dose 🙂

  11. At the end of the day yesterday I was thinking how much the day felt like Christmas did when I was a kid…full of unexpected and good surprises. Thank you CO Eds for the April Fools Day tricks and treats!

  12. Pink tile = fifties lovliness

  13. I’d say that the schnauzer’s evident distress in witnessing the monstrosity that is that Elmo creature is pretty equal to my own.

  14. victoreia says:

Loved all the April Fool’s stuff!

My fur-kids usually only talk to me when they want something (usually food)…..

  15. I love the schnauzer at :15 when Elmo has flipped over and the dog thinks it’s safe to come closer but HOLY $#!%! RUN AWAY! RUN AWAY!

And of COURSE I love the Big Fat Orange Cat. Love his white booties, his big fat orange belly, and especially his big white V-neck. Remember my motto, folks: Every home should have an orange cat, and every orange cat should have a home.

  16. Natalie says:

Wow, I was all 🙂 at the Schnauer and Elmo until near the end. I did not know Elmo could stand back up!!! O_o Creepy. Go little Schnauz!
I have an enormous all-black kitty who is very talkative, and she never lost her adorable kitten voice. She’s a sweetie!

  17. skippymom says:

I have three silent cats and one (Eddy) who yells at me ALL. THE. FREAKING. TIME. Maybe if I got him one of those Elmos it would stun him into shutting up for a while.

  18. skippymom says:

Is the plural of Elmo Elmos or Elmoes?

  19. @skippymom, it is Elmi 😀

My orange tabbeh is a talker, but did not do so until he was bout 3; he started to meow, decided it was fun and has been chatty ever since. I love him.

Best part of schnauzer vid is when he bites Elmo in the butt. Poor dog is going to need years of therapy after this terrifying nightmare. 🙂

  20. Camille says:

  21. Camille says:

    Saffron, great minds think alike!

  22. My cat is Siamese and I love it, we have actual conversations. Yes, I do think he is answering my questions and communicating with me! He also comes when called, not by saying ‘kitty kitty kitty’, but by just sayin his name, in a normal way.. as if you are calling to another person. ‘Max’…. and he comes a-runnin! He also fetches and follows me around the house like a dog. It’s the best thing evar! He also hides food. He loves biscuits/bread and if you leave either out, he will take it and hide it for later. I have found all sorts of treasures, and I’ve also witnessed him going and un-hiding food for a snack. He is 1/2 dog, I swear.

  23. it = conversations.. not it = cat. I would never call him an ‘it’. !!

  24. binky-mama says:

Gahhh! Can’t watch cute sink kitteh without hearing “laaaaaaalaloloooooooo”

    Make eet stop!!!!

  25. I feel for the poor puppy–bare floor, can’t get any purchase on it, so not only is he stressed by the monstrous creature, but also by slip-slidin’ all over the place while trying to approach and run away.

  26. Peanut's Mama says:

OMG the pup almost made me pee I laffed so hard!

  27. Flutterby says:

LMAO at the dog vs. Elmo flick! That toy is the most horrid thing I have ever seen, except for clowns! Who invents such terrifying toys? It’s right out of a Stephen King novel! I was rooting for the doggeh to tear it a new one!

Thanks for keeping April Fools going for another day! Laughter truly is the best medicine. CO chases the blues away!

  28. Delaney says:

My cat does that, too. xD

  29. tobesograteful says:

I gotta say that at first the attack of Elmo was sorta funny, but then it felt a bit too much for the schnauzer, I would have been pissed too at that point. Made a cute video though.

  30. I used to think talkative cats in movies were unrealistic. Then I got Oliver, a tuxedo boy who talks to me, to the other cats and to himself if nobody else will listen. He has a tiny little “muh muh” type of voice. It sounds so pathetic that you have to go do his bidding when you hear him. Then I got Gabriel, my long slim tabby super model type cat, who is a screamer when he is hungry, which is about 50% of the time. He is louder than my alarm clock. It’s really bad if he happens to hop up on the bed and yell directly into my ear while I’m asleep. He’s probably scared 5 years off my life already.

  31. OMG, those vids are so much better in their uncut versions! Schnauzer going directly for the bum sniffing, and Buddy purring and doing the happy paws in the sink…… awwwwwww! 🙂

  32. DaddyDoggy says:

Note to Schnauzer: KILL IT WITH FIRE!

That’s what I’d do, if such a monstrosity entered my house.

  33. Luvfurbabyz says:

    Elmo 6………Schnauzer 0

You just can’t win them all!

  34. lurkingsmirk says:

I’ve never seen an Elmo toy in action. It almost seems like it was designed specifically to freak dogs out…random body movements, periods of stillness followed by standing and demonic laughter…my goodness!

  35. Brandi7920 says:

Auww I wish I knew how to upload my home video clips. My schnauzer responds the exact.same.way…to elmo, mr. quackers, random animated toys…and the vacuum cleaner. As I played the elmo vs. schanuzer clip, my guy heard elmo’s cackle and went into full frantic panic mode and is actually still raising hell right now (and my scottie is sitting back and howling). What a ruckus – but it’s funny! LOL

  36. edmundh says:

The back paddling on slippery, polished floor is awesome.

  37. more schnauzers please 🙂

  38. Queen of Dork says:

I was sort of wondering about how badly the pretty hardwood floor is getting scratched up. But that’s just me. I wonder about things like that.

  39. I love that the schnauzer front half is going backwards while its back half is going forwards.

  40. I lived in a basement apartment below people who had slippery floors and two rambunctious cats. It was skitter skitter slide slide WHUMP all night long.

  41. schnell says:

I love Buddy’s owner’s voice. “You like to take up space, don’t you?” Don’t all our pets, dear cat owner, don’t they all?

  42. When I saw “skittle-esque colours” on the April fools page with the dyed chicks I couldn’t help thinking.. “taste the rainbow” :S
    was that just me??

  43. Funniest dog video I’ve seen in a while 😀

  44. Oooooh! I like da purrziz!

  45. LadyDarya says:

My cat Buddy was responding verbally to this video – why yes I am fat and lazy…isn’t that a requirement for all cats named Buddy?

  46. Where is that translator dude when you need him? You know the guy that translated the two cats talking…. we totally need a translation of the cat in the pink sink. It would be tre awesome….

  47. Hon Glad says:

    Schnauzer, rip its throat out.
Buddy, “for pitys sake, can’t you leave me in peace you moron. What do you think I am,some kind of caberet act”?

  48. Cats mew like Haiku
Five Seven Five, it goes on.
    Haiku Cat, you’re mine.

    I pet your head…mew.
    You notice me staring…mew.
    Silence is death…MEW!

  49. buddy say hi……….say hi buddy……..BUDDY say hi…(mew) thank you….are you lazy.leave the poor cat alone lady he wants to sleep and your making hi say hes fat and lazy

  50. mztique says:

😆 @ the first vid! i was laughing so freaking hard!

  51. mztique says:

    buddy just needs a break.

  52. minomici says:

man… that lady would not leave Buddy alone. He’s not answering b/c he doesn’t think he’s fat or lazy! And that big lovable Buddy just wants some quiet time in his sink, fercryingoutloud! But I do so love his talkativeness. My kitties are both like that.
