For anyone who doesn’t know what this magical man is, his name is Edward Hil (spelled about 20 different ways), and he’s a Russian singer from the 70s who specialized in a singing style that was all vocalizing. When Stephen Colbert used this video on his show, he became an instant internet meme.

Trisha – it’s because of the affectations. Some are stage acting, some are cultural and some are generational. It looks weird to us because we don’t share any of the same contexts. Believe me, 30 years from now kids will be playing Beyonce’s “Single Ladies” video and adding comments like “What. The. ****?!” “Why is she so creepy?”
I thought the hillbilly chick talking to the cat was more creepy than the singing guy. If she had said, “cat, you got a purdy mouth” I think David Lynch may have bestowed an award upon CO. Anyway, nice Deliverance.
Loved the N.O. header, loved the reverse rickrolling, loved the lesson in ‘shopping, loved the Trololoing, loved the circle of life (how do you make those musical notes in the comments?)…. Loved all the lovely shenanigans.
