Newfie…D’oh!

Listen, who hasn’t been tackled by an ecstatic four-legged goofball with zero coordination who slips on a banana peel, skids down a Slip and Slide, and regains instant composure?

Perhaps some grips on his paws would do the trick, Emilia von H.

Yay for newfies, especially ones that knock over the camera person and then act casual!

We had a newfie when I was growing up. He was the runt of the litter, and he got to be almost 140 lbs full grown. I always wondered how big his non-runt siblings became…

  6. ffleur says:

I like the way the camera person thanks the doggie for the kisses. That dog has a regal profile.

  7. schnell says:

I love the owner’s “Thank you” at the end. That’s what I say to my dog when he crashes in to me. He’s not doing it to be mean. He’s just happy!

Oh, yes. We have a Newfie. *They* say that sweetness of temperament is the hallmark of the breed. *I* say it’s the way they don’t even brace for impact.

  15. Theresa says:

    Sweet thing.

  16. Riley says:

I grew up with a Newf. She also liked to run full speed into things, like the time she ran through the screen door and sent it tumbling 20 feet into the yard. Or the time she knocked the side mirror off the car without slowing down. Or into a person anytime they were standing in the snow…

I need another Newf in my life.

  17. MamaDawn in Tulsa says:

There’s a reason newfie rhymes with goofy.

  18. LizzyCat says:

I’ve been lovingly tackled by my friend’s black Newf, Oliver. He likes violent hugs :)

So cute! I’ve only known a few newfie’s in my life but the ones I have known are big lovable goofballs that don’t like to get out of the water.

This happened to me last weekend with my buddy Hank, the Bull Mastiff. Except I went flying over him like a person hit by a car. These guys just don’t have any breaks.

  46. Argyle Donkeypants says:

This is just another example of how rushing a new model to production in order to take advantage of the improving consumer market leads to shoddy research, development, and manufacturing. This dog clearly was outfitted with substandard braking mechanisms and had to rely on a bystander to enable him to stop. It’s not just our lives that are at stake here, people, it’s our cameras!

The leaky valve coming from the front end is a whole ‘nother issue.

  47. Carla says:

“thank you sir. May I have another?”

AWESOME! When I get it a dog it will be a newfie!

However I wonder, wedder AD will be able to “recognize” ….”qui je suis”….

Moving right along hey AD: Are all the parts manufactured by Acme (remember the mfg co. in the coyote/ Road runner cartoons? I saw a pheNOMenal essay once in a book….where Coyote sues Acme for loss of life’s work due to the shoddy, substandard products so freely sold without any guarantees…If I can relocate a link for the essay, I could make the link avail….if ennyone’s innerested??)

    Signed,
(see?) Libraries *CAN* be fun, after all :)

  52. Arvay says:

    I wanna newfie!

  53. Catsquatch says:

Ok, the initial charge made me grin.
But what made me laugh so hard that tears sprang from my eyes was the “Thank You.” at the end.

    ROFL!

  54. katz says:

The camera guy made an elementary mistake. He is obviously a newfie newbie.

    [Ergo, OOFie! ;) - Ed.]
