Christo’s “Kitten Soup for the Soul”

“My dear Tinsley, you absolutely must come to the library and see our newest acquisition! We paid a delightfully obscene price for it, so you know it’s something special! Of course we have no idea what it means…Do you think it needs to be watered?”

Weird concept art, Pam W.

Just once in my life – ONCE – I want to look as contented as a dozing cat. I don’t even need to FEEL it, just give off the vibe.

I love contemporary art….especially the tactile kind! But, no, I wouldn’t recommend watering it. That would ruin the composition!

Super cuteness!! Looks like my girl kitty when she was a baby…I had no glass bowls for her to lay in then, though.

  36. pam says:

i am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO EXCITED!!!! this is my photo!!! (not sure where they got the name “lisa g”). :(

this is “sari” on the day that i adopted her as a gift for my mother. for those who asked, the bowl is actually smaller than a soup bowl. sari was only a bit over a pound in that photo. i had taken a ton of photos of her that day, and this was (obviously) the last one.

  37. Hon Glad says:

The art glass reminds me of a bed pan.

  38. Why do people keep putting their kittens into complicated transparent things when they aren’t going to take the photograph from below? I am sick of it.

  39. Lindsay says:

    @Giant Duck

But! The little fluffy tail! The peaceful face! Awwwws

  40. pita bread says:

It has got to be great being a kitty – you can sleep wherever, and everybody thinks you’re just the cutest thing ever.

  41. ceejoe says:

skippymom – looks like another book for my coffee table! :) for someday when I have a house/livingroom big enough for a coffee table… >^..^<

  42. Kar says:

Cute tidbit. When Christo and his wife went to California to do their Running Fence project, they paid the semi-famous Vogels catsitting with original artwork.

  43. fft5305 says:

I wonder what Antiques Road Show would value this piece at…

  44. pam says:

lol! well, her owner thinks she’s priceless!

  45. pam says:

  49. Resriechan says:

@ Hon Glad, lately you’re just the shiniest ray of sunshine aboooot, huh?

    (wink)

    (JK all’s swell)

  50. Resriechan says:

@ BBVA, IMHO, it isn’t Dali-esque; for itf it had been, there needs to be a giant section open at the bottom (some sort of hole) to let all the water out and then he’d provide some odd solution by which the water didn’t drain out after all….

From what I’ve studied, Dali didn’t much go, for the “neat, complete clear respresentational” artistic expression.

  51. Teresa says:

    :D AWW :D What a little cutie :D

  52. Also not enough boobies or dead lobsters to be– harumph!– Dali (licks finger, mimes touching Dali with it, makes hissing ‘burn’ sound).

Could be a mockup of a Jeff Koons sculpture (1:1000 scale). Or is it Dean Koontz? I’m always getting them confused.

  53. Brenda says:

    The absolute SWEETEST! :)
