  4. 260Oakley says:

I’m sorry, but the season for performances of the Nutcracker has passed.

  5. Theresa says:

@260Oakley, it’s an audition for next season. ;)

  6. Penny says:

Here in the northeastern US, our chippys are still wintering underground, behind the stone wall, beneath the daffodils, lily of the valley and bleeding heart. I’m envisioning them all cozy on a bed of sunflower seed hulls. It won’t be long ’til they’re raiding the birdfeeders and teasing the cats again!

  7. ceejoe says:

I’m envisioning lovely green grass also. Here in lovely Michigan, it will be soon… soon… one must remain positive… it is lovely & sunny outside right now, if not actually warm… but it is coming…. and then we too shall see chippys!

  8. Theresa says:

@Penny, wait what– you said the “northeastern US” and you said daffodils? Where the !@# are the !@#@!@# daffodils? I don’t see ‘em!!!

  9. ButtaRumCake says:

LMAO @ Theresa! My thoughts exactly! LOLOL

  10. Paunchie says:

reminds me of the pic of the hamster trying to stuff a baby carrot in his mouf-pouches.

    heh.

This little greedy guy, I love his stripeyness! And his wee earsies.

  11. Dona says:

Here in central Wisconsin, we had our first “chipmunk sighting” last week. None since, though. I think the little guy padded into our backyard, got the peanuts we offered him (he’s a regular) and went back to bed.

  12. Katrina says:

We gots daffodils in our yard- Juuuuust about to bloom little tiiny ones.

  13. Resriechan says:

    @ Theresa:

    2) Are you, in reality, a Sailor?? (ie– cussin’ & such)…

The strayched-out-peenk-leepage thing is freaking me out just a wee little bit, not sure why.
Outside my office window there are 16 croci, yellow and purple, in bloom and a couple more getting ready to open. The daffodil leaves are up about six inches.
The weather here has been beautiful the last few days. Yesterday I walked to the beach and put my hands in the water for the first time since last fall.
And my neighbors got a new little black lab puppy named Jillian!

  16. Theresa says:

Oh just shut UP, Skippymom! Just shut UP, do you hear???

  17. ceejoe says:

lol @ Theresa, I’m seconding the shut UP! I still have a mountain of frickin snow in my backyard.

  18. skippymom says:

Sorry, Theresa! I shouldn’t have mentioned the puppy. (That IS what you’re jealous of, right?)

  19. ceejoe says:

well, except for the part about the black lab puppy name Jillian. You can tell us about her! :)

  20. skippymom says:

Ladies, don’t worry: This being New England, I can pretty much guarantee you that we’ll get dumped on again (snow-wise) before the gentler weather is here in earnest.

  21. Lushi says:

    It’s just too cute!

  22. eastiegirl says:

    Awww, love chipmunks!

As for those of us living in the Northeast, yes. I’d have to say we’re bound to get more snow. I remember getting snow in May, not too long ago. :\

  23. We have a little chipster that comes around in nice weather; nervous little guy;
I always think of the markings on his back as racing stripes……

  24. Colonel Jenna says:

It is a good thing that dogs don’t have cheeck pouches, or I would die of complete uber-cuteness. Can you imagine a lab stuffing doggie cheeck pouches with tennis balls?

  25. skippymom says:

Colonel, I believe we have in fact had a post here some time ago that showed a Golden Retriever with something like twenty tennis balls stuffed into its mouth.

  26. skippymom says:

okay, well maybe not twenty tennis balls

  27. BStrange says:

The cuteness! The captions! The stripeyness! The COXCU with eensybitty hands and giant peanut!

    Mine? *Nemo-seagull voice*

  28. Lucy says:

Love teh stripey widdle one! I want to snorgle it. I always do!

  29. Scigirl says:

Yep, flowers in New England have lost their minds are are beginning to make a break for freedom. This pretty much ensures that we’ll get a blizzard any day now…

  30. nismo says:

What Mr. Chipmunk is doing to the peanut is what I’d like to do to him:

    STUFFS IN MOUF

  31. certified cutologist says:

    now THAT’S a nom!

  32. Chipmunk: nom nom om nom nom nawm nawm nawm glargen flargen nom om nommity mcnommersons kronshe kronshe nom nom om nawm kronshey kronshersons lickity slurpity glurpity om nom nawm nawm kronse!
    ykwim

  33. Everett says:

silly chipmunk, don’t try to store the peanut in your mouth. Just eat it already!!!!

  34. chanpon says:

That’s what you get for opting for the extra-small mouf-cheeks. The tighter fit you say…it’ll make you look slimmer you say…*rolls eyes*

  35. homer mariner says:

    That’s what she said…

  36. Dash says:

I always smile at the expression on the wee face as the chipminkee/hammie/etc stuffs the oversized item into the cheek pouches: “Nothing to see here . . . Sooooooo How ’bout them cubbies??” Kind of like the little guy a few months ago trying to stuff the spaghetti (dry) into his mouth and getting it stuck . . . “Uh heh heh . . . “

  37. Daigo says:

Love the perfect little round ears and innocent look on its face!

  38. Diana says:

HE is not a he, but a SHE, and she’s eating for four or five!

  39. victoreia says:

    CHIPMUNK!!!!!

I haven’t seen one of those in years! (Of course, they’re not native over here….where it’s a nippy 74 degrees!)

    (ducking behind a palm tree….)

  40. nads says:

@ homer mariner….ha! I was about to write just that! *snerk*

  41. Theresa says:

@Resrie, haven’t you seen my home movies on YouTube?

  42. Hon Glad says:

Er, wait a minute folks, this fricken peanut is stuck, do you get me its stuck.
I know what your thinking, “Daw lookit that cute little chippy, trying to stuff
that over sized peanut in his mouth” well I’ll tell you its stuck and I’m gonna
    start choking, any minute now.
Does anyone know the Hiemelich maneuver?

  43. Rachael says:

“Does this peanut make my butt look bigger?”

  44. Brett says:

Continue to be amazed by the photos you guys get, well done, super cute..

  45. Resriechan says:

    @ Theresa: nice film clip!!

I espesh enjoyed the detail that Popeye’s smoking pipe was engineered
to anticipate the needs of the ship’s steering wheel/ “helm”. As Popeye rotates the wheel, each time the end of a spoke approaches, his pipe suddenly becomes jointed & moves out of the way!!!
Didn’t know that Popeye had such a technologically-superior smoking pipe!!!

  46. Resriechan says:

    @ Victoreia:

it seems evident to me, that you were not brought up in a household with 3 older brudders….or you would have more caution when enticing trouble!!!!

  47. JJMarkin says:

In my younger, more evil days (but I’d do it again!), I used to leave out three peanuts for the chipmunks. (We used the window sill as a cafeteria for birds and other critters, so had a ring-side seat.)

Thought process of a chipmunk confronted with unexpected largesse: . o O (Peanuts! Yummmm! [stuff stuff stuff] One in the left cheek pouch, good, and now [stuff stuff stuff] one in the right cheek pouch, but now there’s one left … Ummm … Hmmm … hmmm … no, that won’t work, let me take the left one out and … yes, you see, now there’s room for the third one and … oh, but wait, now where do I put the one that used to be on the left … oh, wait, let me take the right-hand peanut out and … oh, frabjous, now I have all of … no, no, hold on, now there’s the peanut that used to be in the right pouch, so maybe if I take out … no, that won’t work either … )

  48. Hon Glad says:

JJMarkin – You capture their thought process exactly. :)
