I appreciate the thought…

Really, I do; it’s a very stylish sweater. Matches my eyes and everything. It’s just that (gasp!) it’s just a (wheeze!) skosh too tight, is the problem.

Gee, it looked bigger in the pattern book, Lily C.

    Why?

Why you do dis to me hooman, why?

Seriously why would you put that on a kitteh. Is it some kind of cast or sompin’?

  2. “i can’t put my arms down!!” wwwwaaaaaah.

“you can put them down when you get to school.”

  3. Not That Mike The Other Mike says:

@ Paunchie: We didn’t get any information with this picture, so anyone’s guess is as good as ours.

  4. bookmonstercats says:

It does look a leetle on the close-fitting side. I’d suggest a size bigger knitting needles myself, to compensate for the very tight tension. I have the opposite problem, all my knitting looks like a fishing net.

  5. Lap shot! :)

  6. metsakins says:

it does make the belleh look more kissable.

  7. matching! kitty’s eyes and the blue-genes.

  8. That sweater looks like it was made out of a sock.

  9. StormCat42 says:

Kitteh Feet!! Kitteh Jelly Beans!! Nom nom nom nom

  10. Yeah, I think that’s a one-size-‘fits’-all sweateh – a.k.a. a tube sock.

    Unbelievably cute kitteh, eep!

  11. awww did something happen to kitty? is that a bandage?

  12. 260Oakley says:

    He’s obviously part of a tight-knit family.

  13. The latest in oh so adorable Kitten fashions created for you by Gucci Kitty!

  14. ohhh, the little ginger dude is wearing a wife beater!

[Can we please think of another name for tank tops? KTHXBAI - Ed.]

  15. When money’s tight, the clothes sometimes get tighter.

    (and there’s nothing like a kitty in a sock-turtleneck!)

  16. I’ll save your arm kitteh! (begins mouf to toe bean resuscitation) OM NOM NOM ONE! OM NOM NOM TWO OM NOM NOM THREE! Better? No? I’m going to have to rush heem to my hous-er-emergency room, yeah, emergency room! (grabs kitteh & rushes out of room making ambulance noises)

  17. Soemone should have told the kitty that european sizes are much smaller. *shakes head*

  18. Resriechan says:

    Belleh Snorgle Alert!!!

  19. Cappuccino kitteh with azure eyes. Sigh . . ..

  20. what a calm kitty! i wish there were photos documenting the process of putting that sweater on him? was it when he was asleep?

  21. Does anyone know the purpose/name of the nubbin on the kitteh’s forearm? Not the one that corresponds to the human thumb, but the other one.

  22. It’s probably not as tight as it looks–it’s just squishing down the floof.

  23. M A R M E H T A B B E H B A B E H B E L E H ! ! ! ! !

Maybe instead of “wifebeater” we can call it a “humanscratcher?”

  24. Little stripey cataloons (getting woozy)

  25. skippymom says:

@ding, I looked it up, and one source I found says that it is called the carpal pad. The big pad in the middle is called the metacarpal pad. And the toe pads are called toe pads. It doesn’t seem that the carpal nubbin has a known purpose. Maybe somebody else knows more.

  26. Emerson says:

    Hee hee @metz

  27. Daphne Moss says:

Could be cuz of a hurt…looks like eet

  28. i love how the camera angle has widdle kitteh all foreshortened so his back feets look HYOOOOOJ!!! extremely kissable feetsies.

kitty is all gangsta with his sideways peace sign–“yo, peeps, what up?”

@ding & skippymom: is the carpal pad akin to the dew claw in pups?

  29. Suzanne says:

It could be because I’m listening to the Bee Gees, but it does look like kitteh is demonstrating the proper Hustle procedure.

  30. Christabel says:

    Those feets are ridiculous.

  31. skippymom says:

No, cats have dew claws also. This carpal thing is the blob of skin that’s just hanging out on the wrist all by itself.

By the way, I believe this kitten needs a modesty tail.

  32. Resriechan says:

I second skippymom’s modesty tail request.

However, much MORE crucially, I must (?) request that our CO’ers respect the RULES. IT’s a SWEATEUW, peeps!!!! YOU KNOW the rules, peeps….
    C’mon; WORK with me here….

(crossing my arms AND legs, to indicate extremely outraged indignation)

  33. There’s not much point in modesty when you’re neon orange!

  34. as i make a third, can the motion for the modesty tail be carried?

indeed, it’s a sweateuw!!! how could we forget??? how SLOPPY of us!

    signed,

(meekly scurries off to study vocabulary)

  35. I must give this tiny kitten GIANT SNORGLES.

  36. Animals Away says:

I really like his vest sweater! He looks like he is enjoying it as well.

  37. SquirrelyWhirley says:

@Jen: That made me lmao, thanks!

  38. Resriechan says:

    Aquamarine:

“meekly scurries”….nice vocab cherces, there, ma’am!!!

  39. fish eye no miko says:

On top of everything, this is a beautiful cat, and putting him in clothes actually takes away from that. Let the kitteh run free!!

  40. @Aquamarine — dogs have carpal pads, too. I’m not sure there really is a purpose, but they bleed like crazy when they’re cut/injured (and they take FOREVER to heal).

  41. Hon Glad says:

In the immortal words of Mr Humpheries [Grace Brothers men's clothing] “It’ll ride up with wear”

  42. Hon Glad says:

    @ Kelsey – On a Horse,they are called Pasterns, as in knitting Pasterns :}

  43. Aww…poor kitty does NOT look comfy !

  44. I think that the ‘sweater’ is a fabric harness for a leash. It needs to be tight to keep the kitten from wriggling out of it. It just shows how much fluff even a short haired cat has on it.

  45. @T.UM.
“There’s not much point in modesty when you’re neon orange!”

    That’s for sure! LMAO! ROFL!

  46. Is it sad that I wan this knitting pattern so I can sweater – up my own cats?.
I have tried knitting sweaters and hats for my cats and dog but due to (several) sad miscalculations on gauge (does any one really check this) have ended up with weird miss shapen vest like things.

  47. Aww…I don’t think its tight on teh lil kitteh, I think its like a stretchy shirt ya-know? And partially it looks so tight is because the anerable ginger floofs. Maybe they used it for the one picture or maybe it went to the vet for something. Dunno… ykwim

  48. Is bulletproof.

  49. BStrange says:

I took it for a velcro’d kitten-harness for going walkies with, cinched to “kitten-resistant” fluff-smooshing measures. Oh, and kitteh’s eyes matching those jeans fascinates me. So bluuuue.

Funny story, speaking of harnesses and escaping from them:
I once saw a larger version of the sort of harness that looks like it could be. It was homemade for a rescued whippet-corgi mix, Astro (short for Astroglide, for reasons which will become clear), whose head-to-neck size meant any normal collar slid off with a sudden reverse-gear maneuver. She’d proved too adept at tucking her front legs and eeling out of a standard harness for that to work. Enter the velcro bulletproof vest-style version…

I had never before seen a dog do the horse-being-saddled trick of inflating herself as much as possible so the harness would be loose enough to slip. It gave her enough leeway she almost escaped that one, too! She ended up stuck halfway out with her front legs pinned and a pathetic “uh, I meant to do that!” look on her mug. I never heard of her successfully escaping it but she did keep trying.

Oh, and: [Can we please think of another name for tank tops? KTHXBAI - Ed.]

Over the shoulder beer-belly holder? …No?… How ’bout Sleeveless Kitten Sling? (a la Cats ‘n’ Racks.)

  50. The eyes!!!! And how the heck did they get the “kitten cozy” on him???

  51. Does Lily C know that she’s taking the blame for the tight fit? It looks like someone didn’t “watch that swatch.” Who made this thing, anyway?

  52. chanpon says:

Kitty muscle shirt for body building. Look at this pose…ooooh *polite golf clap*

  53. Queen of Dork says:

What a beauty! Love the eyes.

  54. It kinda looks to me like the legs are probably pinching back the sweater on the kitty to make it look tighter than it usually is….

I love the look of the blue, blue eyes against the marmie colouring….

  55. Kitty is probably saying “Ok, you had your fun. Now get this thing off me.”

  56. victoreia says:

    “….I….can’t…..breathe….with….this (gasp) thing…..on!”

  57. Katrina says:

Hand knitters are even more bound to the rules of fashion-this just looks uncomfy-but, I’m not the Kitteh who is wearing it….

  58. @Hon Glad – *deep voice answering phone* “Catswear!”

  59. @ skippymom – thanks for the info on the carpal pad!

  60. catloveschanel says:

This kitteh is with his kitteh-coach doing ab cronches for the kitteh ‘Lymp-ics.
Kitteh’s uniform is not as tight as the Speed Skaters, as he has to be free.
And he has to be able to get on the podium for the medal.

  61. dr. berthaservant says:

    Worst. Nehru Sweater. Ever.

  62. dr. berthaservant says:

    P.S. OMG MARMIE!!!!!

  63. lexipuppymommy says:

    OMG it’s Shaun White!

  64. Yikes, I haven’t been on CO for a while. This photo is from way back. Little Tiger was a naughty little kittey and peeps, that is an old business sock vest on with holes cut out for the head and arms/forepaws. He was always getting into scrapes so we would attach a small leash onto it when he was running around exploring. It looks tight because he is lying down – he initially slept in a blanket of said old socks when we first got him because he got scared when he was alone. So we decided to make him a snuggly vest out of one of the larger ones. He had no issues with us putting it on / and loved strutting his stuff in it. He looked particularly gangster when he was stalking a mouse with it on.
