It appears Japanese engineers have upgraded Momonga Flying Pocket Pets. These doe-eyed bewhiskered Tribbles can now assume 90-degree “Baroo” angles. Obviously, this feature was added so they could swoop in and nom any cupcakes left on the windowsill to cool.
Don’t miss the LEETLE tuft of hiney hair to the right of the tree, Joe S.

Omg, Pikachu, I choose you!!! <3
– Am I missing out on any features, if I *only* have a ‘puter and don’t EVEN OWN A CELLPHONE?????
(like, I’ ve never bought EVEN ONE cellphone…….
I’m still waiting on the Gub’ment to deport me to Outer Mongolia & relinquish my ‘Mericun citizenship but ……..so far they’ve allowed me to remain here on these hallowed shores w/o a cellphone….)
If this were the cuteness olympics, Japan would be owning the podium!
omg, I’m glad these didn’t get posted the same day as the long-tailed tits – I would not be able to function!
Ooh, thanks for the hint, Meg! I would have completely missed the hiney hair without the prompt!
I’ve just exploded from the cuteness.
He’s a little hand grenade of cute!
I can’t decide if it’s cuter with my head in its normal vertical position, or if I lean my head wa-a-a-y over to the left. More testing is needed.
what is that exactly?? i’ve seen pictures of them more than once, dang it’s cute!
so cute it makes me want to gouge my eyes out
GAH! I may quite possibly keel over…TEH…QTE!!!
Yeeep!
@resriechan I’ve never owned a cell phone either owing to the fact that I live way out in the woods where there is no cell phone coverage. On the other hand, there is DSL, so I can download the qte a high speed.
Oh, and to the momonga I go *BEEP*
Oh the nommable feetsies, ears, nose–everything! This animal has a cutocracy! I want to cuddle with one!
Smilingks!
mtkees, welcome to my world !!
I found & printed & kept a 2009 NY Times article
called “The Cellphone Refuseniks” AND I”M PROUD to say it !!!!
PS to The Meg:
“in re. the title to this post:
AndjerpointIS??????”
Does anyone here know what that squirrel is called?
["Momonga" I believe - Ed.]
I think my head is about to asplode from teh qte!!!!! Sometimes the BEF lowers teh qte quotient, but with this cutie-patootie, it’s B to the E the F fabulous! Sooo cute!! (Still not cuter than the boids, though.)
Kitteh Toez, I haz agreemint witcha in the Pikachu-ness.
DOH! -falls out of chair ded-
ROFLMAO@hiney hair. LOVE IT!
Oh, god. It’s a tiny fluffy NINJA ready to steal my gyoza. *shields lunch with both hands and tilts head all the way to the left* Ahn, the huge anime eyes. I am transfixedinated.
“The Cellphone Refuseniks” – so that’s what I am. *joins herd*
*scrolls back up to view squirrelly buttfluff* …All my cupcakes are belong to momonga… *happy geeky sigh*
So Cute!!!!
Having eyes larger than one’s ears must be a cute rule! Or maybe just illegal!
Is that his little furry wang or something to the right of the tree?
That’s it, I’m moving to japan.
Thanks for pointing out the hiney hair, Meg. When taking the shape of said hiney into account, one can determine the shape of the Momonga to be a perfect little pudgy oval. Also, please note the rosie-pink nosicle and upper leep area. SQUEEEEEE! ☺
okeydokey, since a couple/ folks have expressed a baroo on the Refuseniks article (NY Times, Oct 2009): here goes w/ the citation if those folks come back to this column again—

Peace and landlines to all.
I am so happy that this cutie pie’s little face is sideways in this picture. It makes it so easy to see his face clearly from my spot on the floor, where I have been sprawled since I keeled over from the cuteness!!
@BStrange – “*scrolls back up to view squirrelly buttfluff*”
That settles it, if I ever start a band it will be called Squirrelly Buttfluff. It is just too awesome.
This is serious Momonga Ninja Skills.
I think the world looks better when it is turned 90° sideways
It’s SMILING. *ded from qte; call back later*
Simply marvelous!!!
I badly want that as a pet… kidding aside this is really amazing, shot is great.
Beep! Beep, I say!
I’m a sucker for hiney floooffage.
Deadly cuteness and butt fluffage. *thud*
I have a cell phone that’s used only for emergencies (i.e., to call AAA when my 10-year old car breaks down or has a flat). It’s $5 a month from Virgin Mobile. You can’t beat the price or the peace of mind that comes with knowing I can call for help.
Surrealle, I spent 4 years in northern Japan, and trust me when I tell you…Things there really ARE that qte!! Tokyo is too much like NYC for me, and the southern part of the island has also become way to American-ized… But the northern section is still very much about farming, festivals and just plain qte-ness!!
And I would go see a band named Squirrelly ButtFluff in a minute!! I’m already designing the concert t-shirts!!!!
We need a cuteness zoo…the walkways would have to be padded so those passing out from teh qte would not be injured.
At this angle do I really see heart-shaped eyes? *sigh*
since they’re flying pocket pets, i expect they should sync Over The Air
but whate’r
[Interesting, I've never tried that. Maybe we should look a gift momonga in the mouth, you know, to check for Bluetooth? (yes, you may groan) - Ed.]
ZOMG!!! *implodes*
butt fuzz!!!
Kibblenibble- I, yet again had the same thoughts!
The term “hiney hair” is full of win.
cute in a freaky eyes kinda way
Yes, Dragoness, it certainly is. (doing my best Stan Laurel) (which really isn’t bad at all). (Fingers playing with hair at top of head).
Seems your “90-degree “Baroo”” ability has been an undocumented feature ever since the first release. Go look at the picture in the first post again. Note unfocussed fuzzy guy in background. [What, you mean this? Buh?
- Ed.]
Did this post come about because Meg is one of those people that never reads the manual? Or, perhaps she just found the ‘Engrish’ in it too hard to follow?
Nah, I bet she too, has been overwhelmed by Japanese cuteology and had no choice but to obey the compulsion.
ps. Kind of like an emoticon isn’t it?
This creature makes the usually skeptical me think: There _is_ a God! and She _does_ love us.
“Set as Desktop Background”
So, on Wikipedia, I found that these things only get 15-20 cm long (which, if I remember my conversions right is about 5 – 8 inches).
it’s TEENY…so of course, I had to go find a picture that puts it in perspective…
and here you go:

*squeeeee* *thump*
@Daniel:
It took me three tries to spell “Daniel” because that picture just destroyed my higher functions. Now if you’ll excuse me for squee-bandwagoning… *squeethud*
