Marvin shares a piece of his mind

“… and if that’s not enough, that smarmy jerk doesn’t even have the guts to come down here and tell me himself, so if he thinks he can make me work Saturdays, he can just kiss my furry a… aaaand he’s right behind me, isn’t he?”

Timing is everything, Spiky G.

  1. Heather in Oregon says:

Those two are sooooo adorable! What a great start to my day! 🙂

  2. Wow, I love them. What kind of dogs are these?

  3. Well if that was my boss I wouldn’t mind putting in a Saturday or two throwing a ball around the yard. What a friendly looking pair of doggies.

  4. luvuremails says:

    so pretty!

  5. Eyebrow dots again!? CO is killing me with cute this week.

  6. Hee! The intensity of the little one’s eyes!!!! Adorable!

  7. Puppy hayd!! Om nom nom nom.

  8. I wish I had a boss who looked like that. My boss just looks like a guy, not a snorgalicious love monster. ❤

[Few and fortunate indeed are those who can count their superior officers among that exalted elite. Also: 😆 – Ed.]

  9. I think that’s more of a “you mess with my little bro, you mess with me” vibe. I love that protective paw and the slight lean!

    [Yeah, kinda. 😀 – Ed.]

  10. That looks like a protective mama/papa doggie. Very cute. 🙂 I just lost my dog yesterday… he got a sudden bout of pancreatitis and we had to put him down when his whole body started to shut down. Not to be gloomy on CO, but it’s just nice to be around other animal-lovers.

  11. ummmmmmm….. yeahhhhhhhhhhhh…. I’m gonna need you to come in this Saturday…
Cute little puppy believes you have his stapler!!!!

  12. @CJ – My deepest sympathies on the loss of your beloved dog. Yes, this is a good place to let “warm fuzzies” bring comfort and help ease sadness. Take care.

  13. These dogs are adorable. Mom is beautiful!

@CJ…Very sorry you lost your dog!

  14. @CJ, so sorry for your loss of your sweet companion dog. It’s very hard, but you know we all understand what you’re going through.

  15. warm fuzzies and hugs to you, CJ.

cute puppers! some day, I will have puppers too. Although… I’m not really sure I’d be a good dog mom. I’m not real strong on the dominance thing… with cats, I just let them do whatever the hell they want. (as if I could do otherwise…)

  16. CJ, so sorry for your loss.

  17. StormCat42 says:

Oh CJ, I am so sorry about your pooch… I’m sure they’re already on the Rainbow Bridge enjoying themselves… And just remember that somewhere out there, is another pooch, waiting their turn to come to your forever home… Take your time to grieve, and remember that you’re among friends here…

Ok, I’ve said that… Now, on to PUPPEHS!!! Cuties!!!!

  18. Love the protective paw draped over puppy’s shoulder. I want to smooch their muzzles!

CJ, so sorry you lost a beloved friend. Take comfort in knowing that the difficult decision you had to make relieved a lot of suffering.

  19. @CJ, this would be the best place– we really *do* feel your pain. We are never ready to let them go. (((((((((((((CJ))))))))))))))

  20. Von Zeppelin says:

Blessings and kind thoughts to you today, CJ. And may the Maker of All Things receive your friend.

  21. Ah, CJ, your house hold must be such a sad place right now. We Peeps at CO take to heart your loss and grieve with you, we are softies who tear up (like now) when these unhappy milestones occur. I am truly sorry for your loss, please know that you did the right thing for your beloved friend who was suffering. I’m sure you will find comfort soon, it will come. It takes a while for the first reactions not to be of slicing sadness, but it will happen. I’ll be thinking of you all day, and sending hugs your way, as do we all. Your fellow Peep,
    VZ- Amen. Katrina

  22. CJ, I’m sorry for your loss but you know that you did the right thing. Even though it hurt you, you were thinking about your pup’s pain.

  23. Jenn in IL says:

Awww, CJ – I’m so very sorry. Losing our best furry friends always hurts, especially when it’s so sudden. You’ll be in my thoughts and I’m sending lots of hugs and chocolate ice cream your way. You’re among friends here.

These are some seriously cute puppehs. I love the split face!

  24. Jenn in IL says:

Oh, and big puppeh’s eyes…almost human-like. They’re eerily intense and I can’t stop looking at them!

  25. katfighter says:

@CJ – add me to the long list of huggers. Losing a furry baby is so hard, but helping him leave this plane peacefully was the kindest thing you can do. I know that doesn’t help much right now. 😦

  26. CJ so sorry for your loss. My heart goes out to you and the loved ones your puppo left behind.

As for the photo, it looks like two smooth coat Border Collies. I may be wrong but it also looks like the big one is attempting to enforce their plan of world domination on the pup. Cute. 🙂
Love Border Collies, just don’t have the property, time or energy for them.

  27. Paging QOD- how is the Princess of Dork doing? IS she better, can she raise her head off the royal downy pillow? I sure hope so. K.

  28. I see that the lil’ one’s paw is as big as his momma’s paw…

  29. eastiegirl says:

Such cute puppers! I’ll have them both, thanks!

@CJ – So very sorry for your loss. Also sending you lots of hugs!

  30. @CJ: not much i can add to the long list of love you’ve gotten this morning, but i will add my cyber hugs to the bunch and wish you a short time remembering this bad part and a very long time remembering all of your happiness together. 😦

now about these pups, i think I’VE got the real message here. the bigger one is saying: “he’s mine, i saw him first, eyebrow dots and all, and i shall be the primary nommer and snorgler here! mitts off, you thumbed ones!”

  31. CJ, I’m so sorry for your loss. You loved your boy enough to let him go and I commend you for that. May you find peace of mind in your memories of him in the days and months to come. You are definitely among friends who truly understand your loss.

  32. Cali Bat Love says:

Violet: Boss dog looks like a border collie. Little guy looks like a bit like an Austrian Shepherd. Or they could just be good ol’ mutts, but you can tell by their head shape that they both definitely have some collie/shepherd in them.

CJ: So so so sorry about the loss of your beloved friend. 😦 Losing an animal friend beyond devastating. Remember that you made the right decision to end his pain and suffering, even though we always wish the time for that decision would never come. He is at peace now – no pain, no fear, only happiness and good doggie things at the Rainbow Bridge. He will always always be in your heart, and you will see him again one day. Definitely take comfort in CO and other animal lover communities. We know that losing an animal friend can be just as hard or harder as losing human friends and family. And we know that the grief may last a very long time; no one will expect you to “get over it” quickly. All my thoughts and prayers are with you right now.

  33. That’s so cute! I wish I had that little puppy

@CJ – Sorry for your loss. 😦 He’s in doggy heaven now, playing happily, so no worries.

  34. Help! The Bigger dog looks like my collie that I haven’t seen for almost 5 months, cos I’ve been living in the States. Miss you Spammo!

  35. Precious puppehs. Love the protective “arm” that the bigger dog has around puppeh.
Add my condolences also, CJ. It’s even harder when it happens suddenly. Be glad you gave you doggy a good home for whatever time he/she was on this earth.

  36. What a darling pair!

Poor Cat, how horrible to be away from your pup!

  37. Dearest CJ So sorry for your loss Sending Hugs Your way

Cat Hugs to you too because I know what it is like to beseperated from our furry pals.

  38. CJ, I’m so sorry for your loss, that’s a sad, hard decision to make, but I know from my own experience that you’re absolutely right: the best place to be is around other animal lovers, those who know where you’ve been and how it feels, and who will never, ever tell you “it’s just an animal.” {{{hugs}}}

  39. Collie eyes!! They are the best.

    Many condolences, CJ 😦

  40. My deepest condolences added to the line, for CJ…
Furry people add so much to our lives.

@ Katrina: I was in correspondence w/ QoD yesterday; she said the Princess is feeling quite somewhat better; the Pr. was over visiting friends…QoD will likely be back on CO, sometime tonight after 5ish P/T.

    Peace & puppies to all.

  41. Reminds me of a TV programme we used to have in the UK ‘One man and his Dog’
showing sheep dog trials (mostly Collies) and film of them working on there owners farm.
Amazing what they can do, controlled only by whistled signals and a few voice commands. The only voice command I can remember (a sheep dog can remember at least 10) is come by.

  42. harmlesslittleflea (Clare) says:

So sorry for your loss, CJ. :*(

  43. Love the collies!

I too am sorry for your loss, CJ…and you have come to the right place.

  44. Just like my kids, you have to hold them still for photos. LOL

    Hugs CJ!

  45. Thank you so much everyone. I couldn’t believe when I logged on here and saw so many messages. It made me feel so much better. 🙂 I do miss him so much already… but hopefully one day I can have another dog in my house. I can’t imagine living without a dog in my life.

  46. kibblenibble says:

I’m sorry, CJ. That’s gotta hurt. But you protected your doggie from suffering any more than he had to, and that is the most unselfish act of love there is. He knew how much he was loved his entire life, I’m sure. ♥

Now I must say that this is such a heartwarming and QTE doggie pic…Big doggie has a heart-shaped nosie! And…since there are TWO cute nosies…
    *BEEP* *boop*

  47. Why, when I look at these two, do I end up thinking “Gibbs and Dinozzo”? 🙂

  48. Looks like a mom and her kid.

  49. mantantalon says:

    holy cow thats adorable

  50. The little guy looks like he could be a charm hanging off the big dog’s chain collar.

  51. Looks like the little one is confronting the bullies who stole his lunch munnies, but this time he brought big brother along!

CJ, my condolences on the loss of your sweet, furry friend. 😦

  52. That dog’s nose is a perfect heart!

  53. Looks like they were caught wrestling. This is how my pup use to get around older dogs.

  54. I second Cali Bat Lover, the mama dog looks like a border collie, the pup looks like a mix between a border collie and a sneaky neighbor dog–although growing up in cattle country, most of my sneaky neighbor dogs were also border collies.

I love that they both have the intense stare going on–the one that convinces sheep, cows and small children to do their bidding. And I wouldn’t want to mess with that pup–border collie mamas are epically protective of their young’ens.

  55. d’oh–especially protective. Though I suppose epically protective works too…

  56. Von Zeppelin says:

Corianne–“epically,” with its resonance of Homer and Virgil, is an excellent word. I hereby incorporate it into my vocabulary. Also–good insight about border collies and similar herding dogs. I suspect my semi-greyhound, Max, has some of this ancestry, as he has the intense stare. Also, nips you on the butt to make you go where he wants.

  57. @danbenzvi : Maybe this is why? :

  58. Whoops, forgot the warning: Put your drinks down before viewing videos!
I am not responsible for damaged keyboards, monitors or laptops!

  59. You don’t have to intimidate the sheep with your stare or nip at their behinds. All you have to do is ask them politely. Just ask Piggly Wiggly peeg.

  60. CJ, I’m sorry, too. I will soon have to say goodbye to my little sweetie because of a tumor growing in his mouth. I won’t let him suffer. Feel free to, figuratively, cry on my shoulder. I will be crying lots.

But CO always makes me smile inside. CO makes my world a better place.

    [Sympathies. – Ed.]

  61. @ CJ, my condolences as well. We lost our 6 month old puppy last year to a sudden illness and it was devastating… especially when non-pet people say ‘well, you can get another dog’.

Our pup was a smooth border collie, which is what these two look like to me– same body shape and coloring you find in Border Collies, but short coat like an Australian cattle dog.

Here’s to all you lovely CO peeps– comforting commenters in need. There’s a legion of happy pets past waiting for you on the other side of the bridge.

  62. NTMTOM is on a roll this week! I’m guessing the mom is a Border collie and the dad (unpictured) is a German Shep. The pup is exact TWIN of my newest rescue Rufus. He is collie/shep and had that same “what will I chew next” look in his eye. (Tiffany necklace, 6 pair shoes, 1 pair boots, earrings, Darth Vader figurine, countless boxes of kleenex, throw rug, dog bed, the list is goes on and on)

  63. resriechan says:

    @ Xen:

Suggestion: simply use a Dempsey Dumpster, for Rufus’ doggie bed. That will simplify all the housework/ clean-up for you.

Got nothin’, in terms of the EXPENSE he has incurred, from your household budget……….: (

  64. resriechan says:

(mind you — I don’t mean to leave him OUTDOORS as disposed — but just incorporate the Dumpster into the Rec Room Decor….)

  65. I can’t blame Chewfus. Just my husband who “feels bad” if he contains the dog safely in the kitchen when he runs an errand. I’m about to feed the dog his Spiderman #2.

  66. @danbenzvi: it took a little bit, but I can kinda see it. (Although I’m thinking more McGee, instead of Dinozzo…..)

  67. My daughter and I cannot stop staring at these two. We {{heart}} them!

    Sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet…

  68. The little one looks exactly like my puppy, Barlow!!

  69. Queen of Dork says:

Gosh. I’m trying to catch up. These dogs look so soft…their fur and the look in their eyes.
CJ: Hang in there, dear. I’m sorry to hear the sad news and send you big hugs.
Katrina: Thanks for asking! The Princess finished her course of meds Thursday and has transformed from a miserable, lethargic, trouble-breathing person to a happy, energetic, back-to-outrageously-energetic-and-hilarious self!
“The Cat” is another matter. He is pretending to be starving to death (my fault, according to him) and has modified his contract to include 5 extra meals a week and copious amounts of catnip with his toys. (an intervention may be in order here)

  70. Von Zeppelin says:

QoD, you never should have let that cat go to law school.

  71. Queen of Dork says:

Von Zep: I know. Hindsight is 20/20. And I had to PAY for that dang school. Man.

  72. Wow, beautiful pups…

  73. Queen of Dork says:

Von Zep: P.S. And I was so proud when I sat in that audience and watched him receive his degree…I had no idea he would use that education as ammunition against me.

  74. I’m sorry for your loss, CJ, hugs to you and your family at this sad time!

  75. I love when he’s carrying his baby puppy
