Confusing! Staring! Contest!

Having a staring contest with Edgar was like playing paddy-cake with an octopus – it was the most disconcerting few minutes you’ll ever experience. He seemed to meet my gaze, yet each eye also seemed to look due east and west simultaneously…

That’s some powerful peripheral vision, Dan T. Photo by Karin.

    Lor we’re geeks.

Very cute puppy. My guess that both Conan and Andy would succumb to the puppy cuteness before anything else.

Potentially, a great shortstop–he can keep an eye on first and third at the same time, while playing close to second.

  11. Suzanne says:

I’d like to order an Admiral Akbar to go with my treatment please! Much better than those anti-nausea lollies they dole out.

I’m not a dog person but I have to say, pictures like that make me want to get a wee puggle, even if it would drive my kitties crazy.

Admiral Akbar? Like Akbar and Jeff?

[No no. Lucas, not Groening. Big red catfish head, no fez. - Ed.]

  24. ceejoe says:

lol, I just googled admiral akbar too…

  25. lezlee says:

All these young-uns googling Admiral Akbar? Does that mean no one gets “It’s a Trap” either? Sigh…

  26. Michelle says:

lezlee – I got the Admiral Akbar reference right away AND I loved your “It’s a trap!” comment. Of course, I’m not one of the young-uns either. . .

  27. Andi from NC says:

Either that is one freakishly ginormous hand or one exceptionally wee puppeh!!! It’s like a breathing beanie baby…

  28. AuntieMame says:

At 44, I don’t think I qualify as a “young’un” but I confess I had to look it up, too.

Chalk it down more to “completely out of touch with pop culture” rather than youth and inexperience. :D

  29. Strabismus is cute.

  30. Katey says:

Lezlee, I “get” Admiral Akbar / ITS A TRAP! Although I’m 28 and maybe that doesn’t count as young anymore?

  31. Noelegy says:

Catfish head? Nonono! Admiral Akbar is of the race Mon Calamari, that would be squiddyfolk! :D

[I know the implied backstory. I'm just describing what I see. - Ed.]

  32. BrianMPLS says:

    Akbar!! (chuckle)

  33. victoreia says:

Does this mean I officially have to show my “geezer geek” badge?

We won’t last long against those Star Destroyers!

  35. Ms. Lady M'am says:

  38. Amy says:

@Suzanne…let me give the puppers and quick squeeze and then I will gladly pass him along to you to make you feel better!

  39. dalit@israel says:

it seems nature creates babies looking so cute for us to want to protect them. this one is just amazing and sweet

  40. Noelegy says:

I read the “Star Wars” novelizations before I ever heard of calamari being served as an edible. So the first time a date took me to Red Lobster and he ordered calamari, I was all, “…Akbar? Is that you?” :P

  41. poogwrangler says:

Pugs always seem confused to me and it has to do with the eyes, although not in the way that you’d think. It’s like they can’t make up their little puggy minds if they want their eyes to be on front or on opposing sides of the head. They want the improved field of view but just can’t take their paws off the binoculahz summatiuhns. Indecisiveness is not cute! We need commanding cuteness leaders!

Little-known fact: Admiral Akbar was based on the baby from “Eraserhead.”

And was also played by former baseball great Willie McGee.

(One of these facts may actually be true).
