  1. SO COZEH

  2. Awwww, now that is one contented kitteh!

  3. That is a teeeeeny tiny kitten!!

  4. resriechan says:

Pure sleepy joy…lookit the SMILE on that kitteh’s face.

BTW, this is nearly a photo of the moment when my beloved Salinger (feline) decided that my home was his. We had just met 3 minutes before & the next thing I knew, the teensy little guy was curled up, fetal posishe, in nearly the same location….

What negotiatin’? I never hadda chance….

  5. That has to be the best pendant ever.

  6. that is a wee baby kittayn. Wonder if his eyes are even open yet? He must be feeling her heartbeat and all ahhhn

Wonder who’ll be the first to shout, OMG GROSS boobies!!

  7. the ears!!!

  8. the ears at nine and three!

  9. As a woman, I have to say that I totally understand the Cats ‘N Racks concept. It is indeed the best place to put kittehs, puppehs, or other infants of various species. It’s almost as if boobies were just made to nurture babies! Oh wait . . . (scratches noggin as lightbulb appears overhead)

  10. Karl likes to stay abreast of the latest in sleep research.

  11. i just melted. what a wee baybeh kitteh!

  12. What a cute kitten! Between two hemisheres ;-)

  13. Does this kitteh make my boobs look big?

  14. lexipuppymommy says:

I could do without the “globes”, but the baby kitty is so precious.

  15. I know some of the cats’n’racks postingks sometimes yield some commentroversy, but I have to say I lurves these kinds of innocent-comfy-animal photos. Beautiful moment caught on film! (or on a digital memory card ……) I “awwww’d” out loud.

  16. Adorable kitten but I hope he doesn’t start ‘kneading’ while he sleeps.

  17. Got a good chuckle out of the caption…Bravo, Prongs!

  18. (Ahem) TINEEEE TABBEEEEEEEE!!

  19. @resriechan: I have almost the same story. This is how I like to tell it:

My girlfriend and I went to the local Humane Society to adopt a cat, to be a companion for our one. We went into the back room, to see the cats, many of whom were out of their cages to stretch their legs. As I stood near a table in the room, a kitten jumped from it, onto my shirt, and quickly climbed to my shoulder, and from that moment on I was his human. By the time my gal had turned around from a beautiful solid gray cat named Victoria, I was already at the front desk saying “Oh, I’m sure she’s going to sign these papers too”. I had no choice in the matter.

Rupert grew to become a fine jumper (he was named partly for “Roo”), an escape artist (can get out of every harness we’ve tried with no more than a shoulder twitch), an obsessive fusspot (he comes for cuddles at 2:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m. ON THE DOT if you’re home but you MUST NOT TWITCH during cuddle time – he also fetches my girlfriend for bed at 11:00), and a closet player (tossing his toy mice in the air to catch, but only when your not looking).

In short, he grew to be a perfect cat.

  20. That girl has some incredibly flawless skin. I am envious.
Also: itty bitty tie-tie kitty, Aaaaaahhhhhhhnnnnnnnn…………..

  21. You and me both, Karl. You and me both.

  22. skippymom says:

doggabone, my mother also had a cat named Rupert. She and I went to the house of a woman who had to give away her 32 cats. My mother’s husband had instructed her: “no more than two, and no silly names”. The two that she picked were named Sunshine and Droopy. On the way home I suggested changing them to Sasha and Rupert. That worked out just fine. They lived to be about 19, spending their last few years living on a boat, and both went to cat heaven this past year. Now my mother has two stuffed animal cats that she talks about as though they are alive.

  23. So did you adopt both Roo and the gray cat Victoria?? You can never get away with just one. I laughed at “closet player” like what, he’s a dawg *snerk* with the ladies?? But only on the sly? I hate guys like that! Although I could nevah hate a Roo.

And hey, do you know where the word noggin comes from? From nog, as in “alcoholic beverage” (old fashioned English word) like “egg nog”. Noggin is where you put the nog, er, in, I guess. heh.

  24. wait, 32 cats???!!!

  25. 260Oakley says:

Actually, I think this may be the famous explorer, Juan Pounce de Lion.

  26. resriechan says:

    doggabone:
    very nice.
And lemme guess, when you & your gal (I feel like I’m doing a song from the Twenties; is Gene Kelly in tha house? ;))…first went INTO the shelter, you were convincing her that you really didn’t care much, for cats???? That would just about put the cherry on the Sundae. And — did y’all get the gray cat as well?

Also also — I’m surely glad to know that Ru gave you a solid foundation/ life plan from which to operate!!!! Otherwise, us hoomans would just loll about & wait for cats to bring US food & change our litter pans, y’know??? (giggle)

  27. resriechan says:

    Nice, 260Oakley — as ever!!

  28. resriechan says:

and then again, Mrs. X has done us quite nicely, as well!!

We are just an embarrassing wealth of clevaire commentaires, are we not?

  29. skippymom says:

Paunchie, yes, this woman had taken in cats over the years until she had 32. She had to get rid of them all–I forget whether she was losing the house, or the town had said the cats had to go, or she had health problems, or some combination. It was a very small house, and there were just cats everywhere. Also overflowing ashtrays–you know those big heavy glass ones that used to be on everybody’s coffee table. My mother later went back and got another one, Leo who changed his name to Leonard (after Leonard Woolf; Rupert was after Rupert Brooke. We were oh so la-di-da, don’t you know).

  30. resriechan says:

Hey Theresa — when you have a moment, I addressed a birdwatching bit to ya, over under the giraffe & bird post ….at yer convenience… :)

  31. @Paunchie: I love learning the origins of words!

We only adopted Rupert, Victoria went to another home. It wasn’t a very large place back then, and we didn’t want to inflict two new cats on the one we already had – she was a little antisocial with other animals, although she loved people.

Rupert’s on the sly alrighty … it’s hilarious to catch him in the act, flinging a toy mouse into the air to catch it in his mouth or batting it around the kitchen floor, until the micro-second that he sees you watching him and stops completely. He gives a look as if to say, “I say, did you hear that noise too? I heard a commotion and have only now come in to investigate. But it seems to have abated, whatever it was. I’ll be in my office!“. And then he marches off.

  32. @resriechan: Nope, I needed no convincing. I’m a big cat fan and I’d always had one. The cat we already had was mine, I adopted her from friends who were moving across the country by bicycle. (Or they would have taken her with them.)

  33. Oh that is such a cute little baby kitty. The last time my husband and I went to a shelter it was to get a baby kitten to be a playmate to the one someone just gave us (our 3 other cat were all above 10 years old) So we walked in and it’s almost like doggabone’s story except I was looking around at the babies and my husband found a 7 month old white angora cat that looked just like one we lost a couple of years before. He picked it up and the cat put one paw on each shoulder and licked his nose and that was it. We walked out with a 3 month old female (Bindi) and a 7 month old male (T-two) :-)

  34. Is it just me, or does that woman look like she needs a transfusion?! Lovely skin but So Pale…. Maybe it’s that the camisole is the same color as her skin?

I am another Albino Brunette, so I’m not being snarky, just sympathetic!

  35. resriechan says:

@ doggabone: felines are phunny, ain’t they?? :)

  36. aww that cat is adorable how did you get it to fall asleep there

[Nothing could be easier, if you have the following ingredients: 1. kitten(s) 2. boob(s) 3. a heartbeat - Ed.]

  37. That Karl he is one smart Kitty!

Probably the warmest place in the house.

  38. Good cat, Karl.

  39. Thanks for keeping us abreast of the latest kitten news, Prongs. ;-)

  40. Maybe girl is trendy sexy vampire chic? Just like the plethora of trendy sexy vampire shows and movies lately it seems?? She live in Bon Temps? Sookie!

  41. Desdemona says:

@ doggabone: My adult cats are a little like that too, and get moreso as they get older. I guess they don’t want to be caught acting like a kitten when they are supposed to be dignified adults. I know some humans who are the same way — they will play with their kids’ toys until somebody sees them, ahem! [looks around, whistling nonchalantly]

  42. @resriechan: Indeed!

    @Ed: Kittens can be substituted.

Pale flesh tone? I think it’s more the lighting, or the exposure. The top she’s wearing (camiwho?) is quite washed out too. Although, this time of year, I’m fairly (*snerk*) close to ghost myself.

  43. I love this cute kitten, cats in racks FTW!

On that smiling dog entry, my dog-experienced husband tells me that this dog is cringing, not smiling. The ear position, the closed eyes, and the downward tail all point to this conclusion. The reason the dog does this for the owner and not others, is sadly that the owner has probably beaten the dog in the past, and the dog is hoping to appease the owner in this way.

I think that entry should be removed from Cute Overload for that reason.

  44. OOOHHHHHHH. That makes sense then.

  45. victoreia says:

I don’t know quite which slays me the most: Prongs’s hovertext (“exploring the globes”) or 260Oakley’s pun at #10 (“abreast of the latest….research”)……

    Either way: GROAN!!!!!

  46. The paw!!!!!

    *ded*

  47. eastiegirl says:

    Awww, babeh kitteh. <3

  48. victoreia says:

[sigh] The days when I could have done that with either of my two feline overlords are looooonnnnnggggg gone…….

  49. Look at his little squished cheek and tincy tiny mouf…

  50. @Desdemona: I suffer no illusions that I’m a mature adult, and I openly play with my toys. Must be in the blood – I remember receiving a Lego truck for Christmas when I was about 10. I opened it, my Dad and uncle “helped” me build it (while I watched), and then the two of them took turns pushing it around the floor, making “vroom vroom” noises. One of the many reasons I love my Dad – though it took a few years for the “love” part of him stealing my toys to sink in. ;)

  51. Pale person says:

“I am another Albino Brunette, so I’m not being snarky, just sympathetic!”

Sympathetic to what? If you’re sympathetic then you’re implying that pale is bad or something she should be ashamed of. Some people are naturally pale, not because we’re unhealthy but because of how our genes are. I’m not ashamed of the color of my skin and I don’t want anyone to be “sympathetic” about the color of my skin because there is nothing wrong with it.

  52. AuntieMame says:

Wow, I hope kitten doesn’t have a sudden nightmare where she has to leap up and run from a pursuing dog or something. Owch!

  53. AuntieMame says:

Pale person, what is the point of taking offense when none is intended? Life is too short.

  54. BeckyMonster says:

    @ Pale Person

Please take an albino chill pill. As a natural red-head, I am one step away from being clear. Nobody meant offense, sheesh…

On another note, I would NEVER dream of wearing something flesh colored, as you would only be able to see my eyes.

  55. This is exactly what Cats N Racks should be. I want a kitteh just like that one!

  56. I LOVE KITTYS…..!!!!!!!!!!!!! Soooooooooooooooo cute…. =)

  57. What a precious little kitten!

  58. That does indeed look very comfortable.

  59. mintyheart says:

cute! from what i can see….

  60. I finally know what I want to be when I grow up…

  61. Andi from NC says:

    I would love a “kittay face-hance” on this one…. too precious…

@beckymonster – Hilarious!!!!! (“one step away from being clear” – too much!)

  62. fifthsonata says:

    OMG
That is so cute it feels like pandas are dancing on rainbows in my head….losing….IQ points….sadfjklsfjklfsad;klj

  63. 260Oakley says:

Is it too late to save the kitten from the booby trap?

[Kitty doesn't WANT to be saved. Can't say as I blame him, either. - Ed.]

  64. KittyMarthaPoo says:

    O. M. G. That is freaking ADORABLE! ! !

Of course the tiny baby loves the warmth of the lady’s skin & can feel her heartbeat. <3 <3

  65. resriechan says:

@ fifthsonata: at least your IQ was originally pretty high so you might retain the intellectual ability to take tickets at your local AMC theatre….

  66. CUTE!

Ah, I remember doing this with my sweet little kitten Hugo almost four years ago. His mother was ill and couldn’t take care of him or herself… I miss them so much… *sobs hysterically*

  67. Kitty is cute, but cats not racks please. Gross.

  68. Our nuffers have shown up! Boobs! EW!

  69. Argyle Donkeypants says:

Does anyone but me get the urge to sing that song “Mammaries” from Cats? No? [Sigh.]

  70. Von Zeppelin says:

Looks like Chessie, the mascot of the Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad System:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Chessie.jpg
Except, of course, for the absence of racks in the Chessie System ads.

  71. Chauvinist says:

Is Cats N Racks an actual site, or just a concept occasionally referred to here on CO? A site like that would be the perfect compromise between porn and the cute sites my woman loves so much.

  72. Well hey… we got all the way to 68. That’s pretty impressive for a commentraversy-endowed post.

  73. … uh, make that 67.

  74. BabyOpossum says:

Whoa, Von Zeppelin, my aunt stitched me that identical kitten picture when I was 6 years old, and I had it hanging in my bedroom till I moved away to college. I had no idea the subject was a famous railroad mascot until now. The more you know! (head tilt)

  75. oh how I wish I was that cat…..

  76. :D AWW :D Little Karl found the nicest place to fall asleep while listening to the nice human female’s heartbeat and at the same time he is kept nice and warm :D

  77. not a nuff and not saying this post is not cute. just prefering w/o boobs. this is ok, seen worse to the point where gross. but agree w/ teresa

  78. “I must have been very good in my past life. Very good indeed…”

  79. revolution724 says:

Ordinarily, I’m not a fan of cats-in-racks (although I am a fan of cats and racks separately), but this one is awfully sweet. It really does look like the warmest and coziest place for baby kitty to sleep, and s/he looks so content there. I’m reminded of when my now 12-year-old cat was a baby – she liked to sleep on my neck, because it was warm. The woman’s heartbeat probably reminds kitty of its mama, too.

[Exactly, right on, bingo, word, and darn tootin' - Ed.]

  80. Thanks for the mammaries
the warmth of your two globes
that you have shown me love
the way I nestled in you fit me like a glove
    Oh thank you so much.

  81. gravyboat says:

    Awwwwwwwww, lookit the skeezix!

  82. Aw, I get deep down motherly warm and fuzzies with cutie pics like this.
That is a very, very sweet bebeh kitteh in the bazooms.

  83. It took me a while, but I finally found the kitten in the picture. ;)

  84. @ paunchie: A noggin is a small cup or mug that is roughly equal to 1/4 pint. Can’t get much nog in a cup that small, but the stuff was probably pretty potent.

Now for the itty bitty kitten who’s eyes aren’t even open yet…… ahem………… squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

    thud.

  85. BeckyMonster- Hmm, are you normally translucent? Fascinating….(*snerk*)

    [♪ I'm looking through you... ♫ - Ed.]

  86. LeAnn (not LeAnna) says:

All the boys want to be the kitteh. All the girls want to have the kitteh. Funny how that works.

  87. It’s the tiniest tabby of all! *faints*

  88. My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard ~ that’s right, they’re better than yours! Damn right, they’re better than yours! I could teach you, but I’d have to charge

    heh heh

  89. This is the sweetest baby i’ve ever seen!

  90. Ahhhh!

  91. BabyOpossum, I too never knew that kitten was a mascot! My family has a little hand towel with that kitty on it and two smaller kittens that’s been in our laundry and linen closet for as long as I can remember. That little towel is at least 10 years older than me and I’m 22! According to wikipedia,

“The promotion proved widely popular and, in addition to national print advertising, grew to include calendars, clothing, and even two children’s books about the character. Chessie acquired two kittens named “Nip” and “Tuck” in 1935, as well as a mate named “Peake” in 1937. During World War II, the Chessie character was used to promote War Bonds and support for the war effort, depicted as working on the home front to support Peake, who was off to war. The Chessie image continued to appear in advertising until 1971 when passenger train travel was consolidated under Amtrak.”

  92. i had a closet cat too, it seems. I used to roll bouncey balls down the hall for my three cats, but they gradually vanished. I found that the big muscular feral alley cat I took in would hide them in the cubby-hole undre the desk in the hall. He’d hide under ther and whee!!! He’d stop playing if he thought anyone was looking.

BTW, I love cute kitties ‘cuz I’m human. I love cute breasts ‘cuz I’m male. Combine the two and I am in “cute overload” and feel ALL warm ‘n fuzzy. Those boobies and that kitty were beautiful seperatly and together, just like nature intended.

  93. My dear departed Yevgeny was a rack-kitten, and he never grew out of liking chests, even when he was a 20-lb adult. He also liked to sleep in the underwear drawer; we always speculated that he associated bras with kitten-comfort.

  94. Ye, he likes boobs like everyone else, big deal

  95. My 16 year old male tabby STILL prefers sleeping ‘between the hemisperes.’..not that he fits, but I don’t mind, since he’s all soft and purring, while drooling in his sleep. I absolutely adored this picture..thank you for sharing :)

  96. @ Maribeth, Pale person

I am pale, also. Just because right now tan skin is “in style” does not mean everyone who is pale needs to go tanning. There is nothing wrong with being pale.

  97. :D I also want to add that after little Karl had his bottle of warm kitten milk, he would want to sleep in a nice warm and safe place :D So that is why he is sleeping where he is sleeping :D

  98. okay, this is the cutest cats-‘n’racks pic EVER. My cleavage feels so eeeeempty…

  99. Queen of Dork says:

Freya: As a large chested person, your comment inspired me to say this:

My cleavage feels full of boobs.

    [ 8O ... ... :P - Ed.]

  100. Thats the most cutest and weird thing I have ever seen!!!!!!!!!!

  101. Awwwww, so cute! And you know because that song tells us so that, “everyone needs a bosom for a pillow!”

My kitty is now over 14 years old and she still tends to lay on me that way – but she’s too big to fit between the “hemispheres”. lol

  102. The kitten is absolutly adorable!!!…U know what they say… There’s no place like home..lol..!!!.

  103. RaNdOm PeRsOn says:

I wish I had a kitty resting on me like that

  104. @fajita, @ Pale Person,

There is pale, and there is pathologically pale, as in need of a blood transfusion or more hemoglobin. I am probably looking with my nurse’s eyes, but that to me is not a healthy shade of pale. But it might be the photo quality, too. Just saying.

[Of the two possibilities you list, I'd call photo quality far more likely - Ed.]

  105. I can haz motorboat?

  106. Damn… I wish i was that little fuzball!

  107. nonamenogame says:

Cute, and the kittens not bad either ;p

But I do think it’s a bit young to be away from its mother.

  108. AWWW. That’s adorable! :D
