“What is the picture you receive most often?”

I always get the question—”what picture do you receive more often than any other?”

The answer is simple; TWO CATS. Two cats doing something.

People are ALWAYS submitting pictures of two cats. Two cats chasing squirrels! Two cats who grew up as brothers and look at them now!, Two cats who were fighting but stopped for a moment to snuggle!—this site should be called TwoCatsOverload.com.

But this one is worth posting, Lauren D.

  1. Snuggles!

  2. 260Oakley says:

The two-cat photo, also know as the double felix

    [DOUBLEPLUSWIN  – Ed.]

  3. 2 cats, 1 blanket?

  4. LeAnn (not LeAnna) says:

    Kitty spooning…

  5. Two happy snorgle kitties are never a bad bed.
Sadly, the only pictures that I have of my cats *together* happen to be when I didn’t get the camera quick enough and Melvin starts “hugging” Zoey.

And by “hugging”, I mean mounting inappropriately.

    Sorry. Outburst.

*runs to adopt a second kitty*

  7. lookit the giant feets! Are they bebeh kitties? (being no kitty expert myself)

  8. Re: big feet.

I think the larger tabby baby just looks enormous because the smaller tabby baby is just soooooooo smallllllllllllz.

  9. Lookee! The leetle one is smiling! Awww!

  10. @260Oakley, we need to give you some kind of prize.

  11. @260Oakley Double felix, excellent!

I have two cats but will most likely never have a photo to submit of the two them doing something together. Unless one giving the evil eye while the other scampers away counts as cute.

I luff the little tabby’s contented grin.

  12. LOL @ 260Oakley

  13. 260Oakley for the win!!!

It’s easier to get two cats in frame than to get three, or four, or seven. If I can do it, I’ll send in something with all seven of mine. Yes, I have a problem.

  14. Von Zeppelin says:

Double felix? Isn’t that a description of the cat DNA molecule? (That would be Don’t Nap Alone)

  15. BeckyMonster says:

You can never have two many cats!

[Um… I’m a dyed-in-the-fur Cat Person, and I don’t necessarily agree. I’m also the Moderator, y’see, so “Moderation in all things” means something to me. – Ed.]

[…yes, even moderation itself. Friday night will be good times in the CatCave for sure. 😀 – Ed.]

  16. Top kitty is the definition of BLISS! Awwwww……melt into snorgle….kitty fuzz tickles my nose. 😉

  17. Two cats on the bed is worth one cat in the bush?

  18. “Top kitty is the definition of BLISS!” is exactly the very words I was about to type.

Also, “I loff you sooooooooo moishe!”

  19. OMG! This is so cute!!! And I vote that 20Oakley gets the prize for the best caption, with Von Zepplin coming in for the second…

Do cats in boxes have a chance of publishment? How about cats in many boxes? In need of boxhab?

  20. Oops. That was supposed to be 260Oakley

  21. The secret to having cats that love and want to cuddle with each other like that, is to have so many cats that a couple are bound to like each other. For example, /clears throat/ take me – I have *eleven* kitties, and most of them have at least one buddy that they like to snuggle up with. I am just really lazy about taking pictures. No wait – maybe it’s because I’m always cleaning, feeding, giving meds… /sigh/ I do lofffff them!

  22. Knowing cats as we do, would anyone like to bet that when they wake up, they will first lovingly groom each other, and then within minutes be attempting to kill each other?

  23. eastiegirl says:

Little kitty is SO HAPPY OMG!

    Completely and totally adorable.

  24. KittyMarthaPoo says:

Yeah, the expression on the little one’s face is just pure bliss. LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT.

  25. Double Felix. EPIC.

  26. This did my heart good.

  27. Sooooooooooooooooooooooo sweet.

And 260Oakley, you make me swoon with your brilliant use of language (I’m a poet. I can’t help it, lol).

  28. Having an actual Felix the cat, I particularly appreciate that comment. 🙂 (Note: Even though my two cats tolerate each other fairly well, the only time I can sneak a pic of the two of them together is when they are engaged in Synchronized Cat Napping.)

As to today’s kitteh pic, OMG. Cutest. Kitten. Picture. Ever. Someone, please pass the insulin.

  29. Luff is a many splendored thing.

  30. Double Felix. I rest my case.

  31. Resriechan says:

(I can’t remember which regular CO Postit is always prepared for this scenario….but hopefully it will be helpful & mischevious rather than pesky kid sister, when I save *him* — is this person a him? I think so?– the trouble by posting the following for *him* by proxy)

tinytabees tinytabees tinytabees tinytabees tinytabees tinytabees tinytabees

Peace, fuzziness & tiedyed shirts to All

  32. That is because you don’t need anything else when you have two cats. 😀 Except kitty food, of course.

  33. I would love to take a series of pictures of Misha and Sasha cleaning each other and then the epic battle that inevitably occurs every time. *Sigh* Cats are fun!

  34. …dreaming sweet kitty dreams of slow, stupid mice.

  35. Resriechan says:

    @ Rio

(whispering, so the felines don’t get any clever ideas…
    “and kitty litter” — or In/Out sessions at the door….: ( 😦 )

Those Uberlords & -ladies, SO have me trained 😦

  36. Resriechan says:

skippymom– That is SO true, that I’m NOT willin’ ta take tha bet.

  37. Resriechan says:

(oops — skippymom, my comment was in ref. to yours of # 22)

  38. AWW 😀 Those two kitties need lots and lots of snorgling 😀 Which I will be so happy to give both them if I knew where they lived 😀

  39. I have a complaint: there are no blueberries in this picture, AS MENTIONED IN THE HOVERTEXT! *feels cheated* 😉

  40. @Resrie and Katiedid: yes, and I seem to recall from some time back there was a post here that pointed out how frequently and how quickly “I shall leeck you” turns into “I shall keeel you!”

  41. it is too true! two cats do rule in the cute steaks. and while i’m here i will add my own cute-two-pennies-worth and show you all a sweet vid i found of two cats doing what they do best- making biscuits. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wo4Yygs4-bk

  42. Spooning kitty looks SO happies. 🙂

  43. groom then wrestle someone wakes up cranky

  44. Both kittehs have smiles on their punims!

  45. Katrina, I know that means “face”, but when I see the word my first thought is always that it’s something dirty! (Snicker)

  46. catloveschanel says:

    ooooh, tea for two
if I had a piece of toast and butter, i’d be perfectly content right now.

  47. resriechan says:

    catloveschanel: Thankyeverrmuch!!!

Yew jist dun’ made an openin’ fer an eerwirm o’ one o’ me favOrite songs uh all TIME. But while you might figger, I’d place “Tea for Two”, I’m gonna show you a melody by Fats Waller….which ISN”T “Tea for two”. IMHO, it’s BETTER (or “bettois”, if yew prefere):

    To wit:

(hoping this link works, ‘cuz I ain’t got no A+ Computerology skilllllzzzz…)

    (and on another significant literary note …RIP Jerome David Salinger as of today :(;
sorry to add a bummer item but several folks here are already familiar w/ my ex-cat who I named after JDS)

  48. @260OakleyOverload. Genius.

  49. resriechan says:

(ps: my slight boo-boo RIP J.D.S. YESTERDAY not today)

  50. skippymom says:

resrie, I was also saddened to learn today of the passing of JDS. Although I will admit it occurred to me that given his reclusive nature, his being dead as compared to alive is not exactly a huge change for us. I hasten to add that I mean no disrespect by that. It does mean something to those of us who treasure his work just to know that he is not in the world anymore.

No, I didn’t know you had had a cat named after him. My first cat in my life who was really mine, as compared to a family cat, was named Phoebe after H. Caulfield’s sister. Unlike the real Phoebe, my cat had absolutely no personality.

  51. skippymom says:

Theo, I truly did not think my point would cause offense, particularly the way I qualified it. And I did think about it. I guess I need to apologize.

  52. Skippy, I agree, my cats have definitely mastered the transition from “I shall leeck you” to “I shall keel you:”

  53. The only thing better than a kitty is a sleeping kitty. The only thing better than a sleeping kitty is two sleeping kitties.

  54. Argyle Donkeypants says:

    Those spelines are fooning!

  55. skippymom says:

    Thanks, Ed.

  56. awww. D’AAaaawww! AWWWWW!!! etc.

  57. resriechan says:

@ Skippymom– true enough about the date of his death.

However, the following is pertinent: When he published Catcher in the Rye, his age was 32 (if my quick math is correct..) and if the Wikipedia article hasn’t shortened some detail this was Mr. Salinger’s FIRST PUBLISHED NOVEL. Huge numbers of authors can’t get published for decades when they first submit manuscipts to publishers…..

In 1948 he published the critically acclaimed story “A Perfect Day for Bananafish” in The New Yorker magazine. In 1951 Salinger released his novel The Catcher in the Rye, an immediate popular success. His depiction of adolescent alienation and loss of innocence in the protagonist Holden Caulfield was influential, especially among adolescent readers.[2] The novel remains widely read and controversial, selling around 250,000 copies a year.

(still selling a quarter million annually, of “an old novel”. That’s not TOO shabby, eh?)

Peace & antidisestablishmentarianism to all (or to those who prefer it ….)

  58. Two cats are three times the fun! 🙂

  59. harlemgrrl says:

“Two cats chasing squirrels! Two cats who grew up as brothers and look at them now!, Two cats who were fighting but stopped for a moment to snuggle!”

um, the links don’t seem to be working. please fix

    kittehs rool!

  60. Mary (the first) says:

Too sweet for words. This is the kind of photo that almost makes me want bebeh kittehs even though I know that would be a bad idea…

  61. What a beautiful photo. Nothing but love in the room. So sweet.

  62. And p.s. @260Oakely, you are unfailingly brilliant.

  63. amygaspard says:

Well, if you think about it, it makes total sense that two cats doing anything are the most adorable. Dogs are social creatures, so it’s not surprising when you see two together… but cats? Cats are known as solitary animals who prefer to be on their own. Therefore, when two do something super cute together, it combines the cuteness PLUS the concept of “love overcomes instinct” which is super sweet.

oh yeah, and SQUEEEEEE to the picture! 😀

  64. Oakley, you have outpun yourself this time!

    Tiny tabbies,
    Tiny tabbies,
    Tiny tabbies all day long,
    Tiny tabbies,
    Tiny tabbies,
    It’s the tiny tabby song!

  65. fifthsonata says:

Nothing derails a coherent train of thought more than two furry creatures spooning.

    This sums it up well…

  66. Doesn’t anybody realize this is the cutest thing in the History of the World and all attempts at Cuteness forthwith shall be merely derivative? There will be no further cuteness innovation as all the cuteness has been invented already, as illustrated by this photo. No one will be able to top this, ever. This picture embodies my wish for Valentine’s Day love and sweetness to all the creators and sender inners of Cute Overload. Your job, dear darlings, is done. We are all *ded*.
    *thud of finality*

  67. lizboeder said it all, so…

  68. The little kitten smiling with his arm slung over the bigger ball of fur KEELS me. Just KEELS me!

  69. he’s smiley cuz he gots the upper bunk

  70. I’d be right behind them! >^.^<

  71. The little kitty has such a blissful look on its face! BEST SNUGGLE EVEEEER.

  73. Daphne Moss says:

    *fast blinking*
    oooh! tooo adorable!
