Craftmatic Adjustable Hand

Tony Hamza loved to curl up in his favorite chaise and treat himself to a little snack. But when he pressed the “massage” button and the chaise began slowly curling around him, he knew it must be on the fritz.

No Tony Hamzas were hurt in the making of this post, Julia S.

From the top picture to the end–it looks like his body is being squished up into his head! Poor little cutie.

    [ :| - Ed.]

  2. Jiffknee says:

Milk Bonz for Hammies? Learn sum’in’ new everday. I have a hard enough time squishing the cute stuffing outta my kitties, cannot imagine the restraint required to not squeezing this adorable fluff-ball.

  3. Jiffknee says:

Oh, that should be *not* squishing the stuffing outta kitties. As is evidenced by the immense proportions of said kitties.

  4. zeldapie says:

Um, is that a milk bone in his teeny paws? Maybe he’s a rilly small dog.

(LOL… I wish I had a little friend, a little friend to pet and play with. I used to have a little friend, but he don’t move no more.)

  5. Midge says:

He is a cutie – but he seems so very focused on the NON-acu-pressure cushion in his paws for some reason…I’m really surprised he was able to type in the hovertext.

  6. Jiffknee says:

    And Terrif B.E.F. BTW

  7. IT is the latest Ham-held device.

  8. tracylee says:

    sqweeeesh!

    (& milk bones? really? huh.)

  9. Joy says:

I used to give small dog bones to my hamsters to chew on so I’m not surprised to see a Milk-Bone. Hamsters, being so squishy, are a lot smaller than they look under that furry coat.

  10. skippymom says:

Ooh, he’s so squishy, so soft!

On a side note, is there anybody else here who teethed on Milk Bones? My grandmother used to give them to me–the full size ones, not the little ones. I developed a fondness for them and would chew on them even when I was older.

  11. Kawaii says:

So darn cute! Can this tiny rodent really nom his enormous looking snack? Is there enough space for it in his little tummy?

  12. Paunchie says:

teensy paw on dude’s ring finger. . .

I bet Milk Bones have meat byproducts in them, since they’re intended for dogs. Which gives me a slight ICK thinking about it.

    Carnivorous hamssss ……. braiiins, braaaiiins!

  13. Trabb's Boy says:

Oh, who loves ‘is littew bicky? That’s so sweet!

And skippymom, I … uh … wow. Your Grandma was somthin!

  14. BB/VA says:

    @skippymom, I don’t know about this dude…maybe he did.

I used to work at a bank. We kept dog biscuits for customers who brought their dogs. One day, a car with customer and dog pulled up at the drive through. I did the transaction, added doggy treat to envelope, and slid the drawer out. On examining the envelope, the customer passed the treat to doggy and asked, “Where’s mine?” So I dropped another in the drawer and sent it out.

He drove away with the dog biscuit in his mouth.

PS. We kept stickers for kids, not lollipops. We frequently saw cars around town with stickers all over the back windows.
PPS. We had one customer who brought her cockatiel, perched on the back of the seat. Sadly, we didn’t have a treat he could appreciate.

  15. Kar says:

By the size of his snack, hammie’s stomach is bigger than his eye.

Or is it the other way around?

  16. Alana says:

So cute! The Milk Bone doesn’t surprise me too much. Hamsters aren’t as strictly vegan as guinea pigs and bunnies. My old hamster Binky loved dry cat food.

  17. llism says:

I just wanted to commend the hammie-holder on such meticulous nail maintenance.

  18. Cashew says:

In the 3rd pic, ham’s all like “I love you too, but if you don’t stop squeezing me, I’m going to drop this here treat and then I won’t love you quite so moiche”

  19. Marie says:

I’m sorry I’m just not feeling Prongs. She (he) needs to go back to CO University and brush up on Funny Captions 101. Not trying to be mean about, but there are people here who comment and make me laugh tons more than Prongs. Meg, Theo, NTMTOM – yay! Prongs, not so much. Yet.

You have no one else to blame except Meg for setting such high standards.

  20. Wend says:

Hammies will eat the occasional meal worm, too. We read that in a hamster care book, and as my son was keeping a Gecko at that time, and we had meal worms on hand, we thought we’d try one as a treat. Just a hint: they prefer the smaller mealworms to the “giant ones”.
Apparently, in the wild, they will eat worms and such that they come across as they are tunnelling.

  21. MamaLana says:

I don’t know which is worse, hams eating meal worms or kids eating dog biscuits. Ewwwwwww.

  22. doggabone says:

@Marie: The standards of humour are certainly not universal. One of the great joys of living is that tastes are personal, subjective, and varied.

  23. Paunchie says:

they should make hammie biscuits out of meal worms!

  24. Malinki says:

    Ahhhhhh!!! Ham grenade!!!

  25. Lainey says:

Kind of reminds me of Scrat from ‘Ice Age’ hanging on for dear life to that acorn! And love the ‘Of Mice and Men’ ref on the 1st pic hover text! Sigh…why don’t all men get manicures?

  26. skippymom says:

As an adult, I used to make and sell homemade dog biscuits. I still have (somewhere) my bone-shaped cutters, from big down to wee. Perhaps I could experiment and work up a recipe for meal worm biscuits for hamsters. I wonder whether they would sell?

  27. Paunchie says:

    I bet they would!!

They can also double as teething rings! LOL

  28. Heather in Oregon says:

I love how the little tiny tailo is sticking out below the bottom of the milk bone. And wow those nails are pretty severely cut down, only time I had them that short was by horrible nail clipping accident!!
ps, how come we assume that the hand is a manly hand? I have big hands, I is female.

  29. Heather in Oregon says:

Sadly I can see a reflection in the eye of the ham of the person taking pic, but can not clearly make out if it is fem or not.

  30. AuntieMame says:

Well, I happen to enjoy Prongs’ posts, and this one is particularly entertaining.

And where is my treat that’s as big as me????

  31. zeldapie says:

I ate a Milk Bone when I was 10 years old, with a bit of butter on top. I wouldn’t recommend it.

  32. corianne says:

It’s a good thing that my dogs didn’t see this post, because then they’d be asking me for treats as big as they are. Granted, my newborn nephew is bigger than the dogs, but still…

Yeesh. I’ve never wanted a pocket pet more. As well as a well groomed masculine hand to hold it for me.

  33. Mary (the first) says:

    My Friday Haiku:
    Nothing cuter in the land
    Small hamster, big hand.

  34. Mary (the first) says:

(p.s. I have seen the term “ham fisted”, always thought it meant large and clumsy. Now Iknow it means cutie with milkbone!)

  35. kibblenibble says:

That IS a fantastic manicure…(I was a professional cosmetologist for many years.) As for Hammie, he/she has cute little hands and feet, too. :-)

  36. dr. berthaservant says:

He looks more like a Hamzilton Camp:

    http://hamiltoncamp.com/Tribute.asp

  37. Celia says:

I love how Hammie just keeps holding on to the treat.

  38. Holly says:

oh my leetle bone…….I lav you so mach. Meeelk bone you are beautiful…..yes…..

  39. Brenda says:

I do NOT like this pic and I feel VERY bad for the occupant of the hand! Poor critter. :-(

  40. Rumi says:

Prongs’ “God, I hope this guy’s name ain’t Lenny” CRACKED ME UP. I mean, I literally giggled. :)

    Also, cute hammie. :)

  41. earlybird1 says:

LOLOLOL @ the first hovertext! FTW!

…”I shall love him, and pet him, and call him George.”

  42. jen says:

    aaaack!! the squishy fuzzulence!!!

  43. Surrealle says:

Brenda, I wouldn’t worry.. I had dozens of hamsters as a kid and if the person was really squishing him, his eyes would be bugging out a lot more (I only know this because if you hold them in your cupped hands they’ll try to crawl out through a too-small opening, not because I squeezed mine)

  44. Wendy says:

Hammies are om-nom-nomivores and like the occasional bit of meat or egg, so a milk bone is just fine. A bit of turkey from my sandwich (no bigger than your pinky nail) was a treat! I’d buy the small dog size milkbones for my ham (one box lasts a lifetime!) and he’d cart them back to his nest for bedtime nibblings.

  45. ilikechocolatemilk says:

    love the feeties!

  46. jen says:

i just noticed the tailio action!

  47. Paunchie says:

bedtime nibblings! We all love them!

  48. Beppers says:

Dog biscuits (on occasion) can be a very healthy snack for a ham. Lots of protein which is good (especially when recovering from illness) and nice and hard so they can wear down their teeth. If you’re planning on buying some for your hammie, check the ingredients and make sure they don’t have things like garlic and other things hams shouldn’t eat (you can find a list online). Also try for no sugar, especially for dwarf hams like this little cutie, who are very prone to diabetes.
The more you know… *shooting star*

  49. Queen of Dork says:

What an adorable hammie clutching his yummers treat! And LOVING the stories of peeps who have tried Milk Bones!
(note to self: zeldapie DOES NOT recommend the buttered Milk Bone treat. hmmmmmmmmm. she’s probably onto something. i probably wouldn’t like that as I’m not a huge fan of milk. unless it’s chocolate. or plooped into my morning coffee. hmmmmmmm. *said in echoey Twilight Zone voice resembling William Shatner’s in my head* So noted.)

  50. Ermine says:

Milkbones help to grind teeth and contain protein that is often lacking from a rodents’ diet (who in the wild would eat insects). Good stuff, true story. :E And cute too.

  51. Hon Glad says:

It must be my dirty mind but the top of the bone looks like a phallus.

  52. catloveschanel says:

Is that a scene from Lenny and Squishy?

  53. Felicityanne says:

    Of Hams and Men…

  54. Erika says:

I love Prongs – “The Biggest Loser,” “Mooooonnn Rivvverrr!” and “Ushering in the Decade’s Hangover” are genius!

  55. Wow that is the cutesy thing ever

  56. thicktortiethintabby says:

WTH? The ham ate my comment along w/his Milk Bone.

I had said that I was glad that @Hon Glad said it so that I didn’t have to… I originally scrolled down the page slowly and was shocked–SHOCKED!–to see that the hammie had picked up a “novelty” treat at a bachelorette party last night. Then I saw the rest of the picture.

  57. Linda says:

Aww, the wee hamsterkin, with the tiny tailio, and the big treat! I want a warm, fuzzy little hamster in my hand, too, I just do. My big, fat cat doesn’t fit so well, he barely fits on my lap :D

As for the hamster being squished, come on… ever actually held a hamster? They’re miniscule underneath all the fur, pretty dang sure this hamsterkin isn’t in any kind of distress, except maybe bothered that s/he can’t be left alone to nom the treat.

For the record, I adore hamsters, would totally have one if 1) my cat wouldn’t eat it, and 2) they don’t have very long life-expectancy to begin with (cat or no cat) and I’d mourn to death if I lost a pet every third year or so. I’ll comfort myself with gazing longingly at fuzzy wee hamsters in pictures instead.

Can’t get over the look of that little stubby tail, whee!

  58. skippymom says:

Mom! Dad! You getting up today?

  59. Theresa says:

@Hon Glad, care to join us in the Snickering Lounge?

  60. skippymom says:

Yeah, let’s hit the Lounge. Who knows how long it’s gonna be before there’s any more action around here. First round is my shout.

  61. karu says:

    aaawwwww…. hammie is too cute….

  62. Queen of Dork says:

May I join you all in the Snickering Lounge?

  63. Theresa says:

    ATTENTION ATTENTION

There is now a slideshow on huffingtonpost.com of cute animals in sweateuws. :D

  64. skippymom says:

    Right, then.
I’m firing up a fresh pot of espresso and putting a pan of extra-gooey cinnamon rolls in the oven. Maybe that will do the trick.

[Wait: a pot of espresso? :? - Ed.]

  65. Queen of Dork says:

    I’ll make quiche!!!

  66. skippymom says:

Thanks, QofD. I’ve got a crate of lovely oranges here and the juicer going full speed. Let’s get this thing accomplished.

  67. Ashley says:

Hams adore Milkbones. :-) Mine certainly do!

@Paunchie: Hamsters are actually omnivorous…they eats bugs in the wild. :-)

  68. resriechan says:

    In re: mourning:
No new CO post since approx 12/ 24 hours….

    “Is a puzzlement”.

(from “The King & I”, Yul Brynner & Deborah Kerr, 1956)

  69. skippymom says:

Resrie, that’s why we’re preparing an enticing brunch, to try to wake them up. Can you help?

  70. resriechan says:

    Um — brunch, huh??

Ya got me on a Pauvrecita weekend. I do have a small bowl of plain M/M’s.
Oh — and a pkg of stick pretzels w/ chocolate & sprinkles coated on them…..

(Sad, I know . I’m even OUT OF KOOLAID !!!!! –sigh–
……………….but I’m willin’ to donate to “da cause”……)

  71. skippymom says:

Res, thanks but that’s okay. Hang on to your snacks, you may need them. I don’t think they’re getting up today, anyway. Must have been some party last night.
If I had any Koolaid I’d give it to you, but all I have is carrot juice, and something tells me you wouldn’t be too keen on that.

  72. skippymom says:

THIS JUST IN!!!! They’re up, and there’s a sweet little bunny! Check it out!

  73. Queen of Dork says:

skippymom: Sounds good! Also, carrot juice sounds yum! Hey! Here’s a cool thing I heard on The Food Network yesterday. And I don’t know why I’ve never heard of this before but…Edamame beans. (I think I spelled that right). They’re some kind of soybean but I don’t know why at 45 years old I’ve never heard of, cooked, or eaten these before. Learn something new every day.

  74. skippymom says:

QofD: no worries, edamame have only been known to the non-hippy general public for the past few years. I’ve known about them somewhat longer just because I spent a substantial portion of my adult life working in health food stores.

    Bunny!!!

  75. resriechan says:

@ skippymom — thx for the offer of the carrot juice. If I get even Pauvre-cita -er (giggle) it might come in handy!!
    I don’t *HATE* carrots !!!
Now: Beer? bread pudding? Cheesecake? THOSE are things I HATE

Off I go, to see a bunny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  76. Kendell says:

    “Lenny” – HAhahahahah.

  77. Hon Glad says:

Sorry snicker loungers, I haven’t been ignoring the invitation, but in UK time I posted my comment about 6am and opened up this page again, at about 11:30 pm. I’ll happily join you. I am trying to imagine what the dress code might be? With all the food mentioned, I think an elasticated waist band must be a must.

  78. Queen of Dork says:

Hi Hon Glad! To my knowledge, the Snickering Lounge is come as you are. :) I was in there the other day wearing my rhinestone, cat eyed glasses along with my Dr. Suess Cat in the Hat hat. And a feather boa. (pink).

  79. Queen of Dork says:

*looks around deserted Snickering Lounge* Where’d everybody go?
*sweeps floor, takes out trash and closes door*

  80. pixelshots says:

  83. HEYHEYHEY says:

    Hamgrenade!

  84. rcmom says:

Glad to see a Hammie chewin’ on a Milk Bone. We gave our Peaches the largest
we could find. She looked cute carrying it around–bigger than her. Don’t give wooden chew sticks–had one Hammie choke to death on one. Milk Bone is the only way to go.
