I love you, Man

According to Sender Inner Douglas W., Jones the kitteh had emergency surgery, hence the collar. Bishop the kitteh had never been apart from Jones, and when Jones got home Bishop followed him around for about an hour, and then grappled him for a kees:

  1. Awwww… i luv yoo, man!

    looks like brudders?

I wonder why he had surgery, they look like young kittehs.

  3. kibblenibble says:

That collar looks SO much more comfortabuhls than the hard-plastic “martini glass” style. What a cute story. And how lucky is Douglas W. to have TWO marmies?

  4. cyberpunkrocker says:

Jones (of course, a marmie) and Bishop, from ‘Aliens’!!! LOL!!! (Although the original Bishop was an android… You sure he’s a… real cat???)

  5. cyberpunkrocker says:

Makes me think what was the reason of the ’emergency surgery’? (shudder)

  6. Desdemona says:

Kittie love! It’s real, you know. When I lost our Tigger earlier this year, the other three looked all over the house for him for days. Even though they may have their occasional “discussions” — tempers do fly, after all — they still come together for a good snuggle. Especially when it’s cold.

  7. muttluver says:

Ahn. Kibblenibble, (love the name) I was thinkin the same thing about the collar.

  8. It almost looks like a chic poncho

  9. Mew Mew Mew I has cute says:

    Daaaawww kitteh lurf! ykwim

  10. Such love! And can I just say how much I love the name Jones for a cat? 🙂

  11. That’s a bromance

  12. I had to take our 2 year old at Ralph to the vet the other day for an emergency trip, and she had to stay overnight. When she came back the next day, our other cat Rattus didn’t want anything to do with her (always been best friends otherwise), and hissed whenever she came near him. It took him about a week to get over it.

  13. That’s so precious…!

  14. Awww! Brudders wuv each uvver!

  15. AWW 😀 Bishop the kitty is showing Jones the kitty just how much he loves his friend by comforting Jones after his trip to the vet 😀

  16. awhhh

  17. That is one of the sweetest things I’ve ever seen. Seriously.

  18. 260Oakley says:

Sing it with me: “B and Mr., Mr. Jones… they got a thing going on…”

  19. redbird57 says:

That’s so sweet of Bishop. When my little boy had to stay at the vet for over a week his sister was furious with him when he got home.

  20. catloveschanel says:

AWwwWWwwWWW. I am dead for the cute. This plus the warmed up Mexican Food leftovers for breakfast ought to just kill me.

  21. And they called it Kitteh-love! 😉

  22. resriechan says:

kibbleknibble got to my comment before I found this post (two marmies!!!)

but as almost always 260Oakley NAILS IT YET AGIN.

260Oakley is the Vice-President of MY Universe.

    (Simonscat & Maru have the leadership;
sorry, dear, you *just* …”missed it by ……………………………..THAT much” — seen the orig series “Get Smart”??)

  23. Aw, keeses makes everything all better!

  24. Too, two sweet! :]

  25. It’s the new dress. It make heem irreeseestable!

  26. 260Oakley says:

Thank you. As always, it’s an honor just to be NOMinated.

  27. Nicolletta says:

    Here, I kees it and make it all better. 🙂 &heart;

  28. My Finn (short haired marmie) has to be hospitalized fairly often for urinary blockages, and whenever he’s gone my Bear (long haired marmie) doesn’t know what to do. When Finn gets home Bear follows him around desperately checking to see if he’s ok.

  29. catloveschanel says:

uh oh, my comment is waiting moderation. Must have been the Mexican food reference.

    [Well, I OK’d it; I’m all for non-traditional breakfast food 😉 – Ed.]

  30. I loff you too. *kees*

  31. Marmies with socks! SO cute!

  32. PS Bishop has some interesting vestments. Are those for Lent?

  33. kibblenibble says:

260Oakley, how do you do it?

    We meet every day
    at the same cafe
    I know I know he’ll be there
    Holding hands
    making all kinds of plans
While the juke box plays our FAVORITE SONGS!

  34. Oh I just love this. Such a sweet little hug to go with the kisses…

  35. Queen of Dork says:

*looks around through rhinestone, cateye glasses. Grabs hugging marmie kittehs and runs*

  36. resriechan says:

Wait, QoD: You can’t steal BOTH of ’em!!! Where are you GOin?????
I WANT ONE !!!!!! Izzn’t that a bit inconsiderate, of the rest of us kitteh thieves???????

  37. Queen of Dork says:

*slinks back with kittehs. looks over shoulder and places them back on pretty, kitteh-matching hardwood floor. (he-he) just borrowed them for a few minutes of marmie snorgeling and stuff*

  38. resriechan says:

“Never mind Mom — everything’s fine now!!”
“Nurse Stef took care of it!!!!”

(*feels smug & triumphant like a 4-yr old*)

  39. Aaaaawwww!

    Good friends forever!

  40. Queen of Dork says:

Res: You and I have the silliest, funnest, most intelligent conversations together on our e-mails and I really love and appreciate that!!! Thanks so much!! Happy New Year!

  41. Awwww so cute, i dont like cats but this pic rocks

  42. So sweet! When my cat had emergency surgery, her sister wouldn’t stop going from room to room looking for her and calling to her in the saddest voice. But when she came back a few days later, she didn’t recognize her- I guess because half her fur was shaved off and she smelled like hospital. Happy ending: a few days later, they were back to snuggling & being adorable. :o)

  43. Peanut's Mama says:

OMG this melted me. Puddle of kitteh-lovin’ mama on the floor.

  44. Reminds me of Lenny and Carl for some reason.

    Very cute kittis.

  45. resriechan says:

QoD: You are wonderfully kind to so many people, esp moi!! MWAH!!

  46. Aww, that’s so precious! and adorable!! ^.^ *squee*

And I too like the collar, as opposed to the cone of shame.

  47. violetgreen says:

Promise you won’t ever leave me again!

  48. *arm around shoulder* *tiny kiss on the cheek*

  49. Man, I needed that today. Thanks.

  50. Sometimes you hurt the one you love…. but not in this case! Lots of lovin’ kittehs are horrified at the vet smells coming from their most beloveds, but not this kitteh. Warms my cockles.

  51. Hope Jones is ok… Great welcome home.:)

  52. freakingdork says:

Our kitten needed one of those…..the last few days, he started learning how to slip out of it….leaving him wearing what looked like a “blue dress”. Adorable!

  53. I LOVE the names Jones and Bishop for cats. When my nephew asks what the name of whatever random animal he sees is, his parents say they don’t know. I’ll tell him stuff like ‘Steve’ and ‘Cathy’. He’s convinced his across-the-street neighbor’s dog is named ‘Bob’. I mean, what’s the fun of being an aunt if you can’t mess with your siblings’ kid’s heads, then leave their parents to sort it all out?

I’ve decided that when I next have the opportunity to name an animal, it’s going to have a common person name. Like Jones. (see what it did there?)

  54. dr. berthaservant says:

Marmie Bromance is the best kind. Eat your heart out, Judd Apatow!

  55. pinkmariposas says:

    awww. priceless…
    I want a kees too

  56. I hope Jones has, or has had, a speedy recovery. And bless Bishop for being so sweet with his friend.

  57. Hmm, you av zer smell of zer vets about you.

  58. My dog, Sarah loved the older dog next door. She would go over and check on Nef (the older dog) every chance she got. When Nef crossed the R.B. Sarah didn’t understand and would look all over for her friend. She kept on looking for about a year and was sad when she couldn’t find her.

  59. Lucy's Mommeh says:

corianne, I’m so glad I’m not the only “weird Aunt” on the planet…:)

  60. That protective garment that Jones is sporting looks to me like one of those things they tie around your neck when you’re getting a hair cut – only in a poodle-skirt stylee.

When our kitty came home once with one of those collars on – WAY too big, even though they trimmed it – she looked like a surrealist sculpture. But she wasn’t going to wear THAT for long, so she literally ran backwards through the house until it caught on something and came off. So after watching her for a while to make she she wasn’t fussing at the injured part, we kept it off. Who could deny that strong of a will, and those brains! (She’s 18 going on 19, and still as stubborn as ever. 🙂

  61. Babies! ORANGE babies! I have two orange babies also. Love ’em!

  62. kzgz, what a smart puddy-tat! I’d have done the same thing for her- she’s just too smart! What is her name, pray tell?

  63. Sooooo adorable…. Gotta love kittie love!!

  64. This photo really touches me.

  65. Like some of the others, I got a kick out of the Alien references. I had a cat named Ripley and still would like a kitten named Newt someday.

  66. Emmberrann says:

Kitteh, seated daintily, sings: “In my sweet little Alice blue gown, ……When I first wander’d down into town…….. I was both proud and shy, As I felt ev’ry eye, ………
    (guess I’m dating myself here)

    Poor kitteh-bunnehs!

  67. Awhhhhhh….

  68. Is Jones going to be OK ??

  69. skippymom says:

When Jones feels better he can run around the house in his superhero cape!

  70. awwww…this is a sweet story!

  71. nicefrenchgurl says:

    aww what a sweet story
indeed its the smell of the hospital that makes other cats reject the recovering kitty. i usually rub it with cat pheromons, it does wonders

  72. I think these two kitties may be from Philadelphia.

  73. Channeling W.C. Fields, there, Noelegy? Perhaps they only wish they were in Philadelphia.

  74. Von Zeppelin says:

Theresa @ 32: The Bishop’s blue vestments are the color known as “incarnation blue.” They are used for feasts of the Virgin Mary in the Roman and Eastern rites, and often for Advent in Anglican use. The assisting cat in this rite is giving the Bishop the “kiss of peace,” a sign of reconciliation and unity.

In all of these communions, it is extremely rare for cats to become bishops. Which is surprising, because cats have the perfect personality for high ecclesiastical office: arrogance, sense of entitlement, never being wrong, rejecting education and discipline. . .

  75. I’m the owner of Jones and Bishop. Yes, they were named after characters in the Aliens series (Jones was the name of the cat in the first movie; I would have named one Ripley if it had been a girl). Jones developed colitis, and the vets were concerned he had eaten some plastic wrap, so there was emergency exploratory surgery that came up negative. Anyway, yes, Jones has recovered and is fat and sassy again. He and his brother are totally bonded and very sweet together, whether they are fighting or snuggled up together. Thanks everyone for your comments; this is hands down the best cat picture I’ve ever taken.

  76. Thanks for the back-story, Douglas! Glad to hear Jones is doing well.

  77. Katrina: Philadelphia is “The City of Brotherly Love!” 🙂

  78. Nothing like Brotherley love eyyy. That farbric is looks way more comfortable than the collar. Also for the protection that he doesnt bump into things

  79. That is just too sweet. Reminds me of my marmie baby back home.
Douglas – thanks for the update on Jones’ recovery!

  80. So the vet collar is to keep Jones from licking himself, but what is to keep Bishop from licking Jones?

…Just a thought. Super cute either way.

  81. Douglas, thanks for the update. You’re so lucky to be able to enjoy those sweet, silly boys every day. *hugs*

  82. Thanks for the update Douglas. You have two adorable kitties.

  83. What a good friend Bishop is! He’s all, “There, there, it’s all right now, luvie.”

  84. pugletsrule says:

Douglas – what an awesome picture! I can’t ever seem to catch my furry babies at those touching moments even though I have like three cameras sitting out all the time. The picture and story really made my day!

  85. Excellent catch, Douglas! Glad to hear that Jones is doing well! YAY!

  86. cattymama says:

    Kitty with a blue dress
    blue dress
    blue dress
Kitty with a blue dress on…

Give me enough time i can make most any song a cat song

  87. Thanks, Douglas W., for the update it is always so nice to hear that the puddy-tats are doing well. I bet your household is very lively and loving! Bravo!

Noelegy – City of Brotherly Love- true, true…

  88. P. Erasmus says:

What is this salty liquid emanating from my eyes? It must be allergies…

  89. Queen of Dork says:

cattymama: I want to try! (sing to the tune of Sunrise, Sunset from Fiddler on the Roof)

Is this the kitty oh so glossy?
Is this the kitty who was stray?
When did you get to be so bossy?
    Day by daaayyyy?
