Oh! STINKIN’cute!!!

But they’re soulless begging machines. A grey roo in the Grampians will rip your veggie pie away from you as soon as look at you. A greasy veggie pie, too.

2 bb 12.06.09 at 8:56 pm

I totally didn’t see the baby down there. He gets free food all the time, no pity..

(okay, a little pity)

3 Jennie 12.06.09 at 8:57 pm

Mom looks so unbelievably delighted that she’s being fed!

4 victoreia 12.06.09 at 9:01 pm

Little joey’s got that “bratty whiny little kid” expression down pat!

5 Megan 12.06.09 at 9:04 pm

Holy Crap Cuteness!!

6 Winston 12.06.09 at 9:04 pm

Can I have one of these?

7 AmyJ 12.06.09 at 9:10 pm

Mama’s singing the ‘Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy’ song.

12 Yang 12.06.09 at 9:46 pm

They have beautiful eyes..

Mom looks like she’s got that kind of cute little teeth gap!

13 Stephy 12.06.09 at 9:49 pm

Wow. This is the cutest thing I have seen in a long time!

14 Jau 12.06.09 at 9:52 pm

Momma’s face looks so soft and happy, t cheers me up!

15 Sarah 12.06.09 at 9:53 pm

That wallamama is so HAPPY!
You work hard all day taking care of a little kid, and it’s just overwhelming when somebody does something nice just for you.

16 Amber 12.06.09 at 10:15 pm

My brain just ‘asploded.

17 melissadesa 12.06.09 at 10:31 pm

I squeed til the cows came home. And they brought milk!

18 melissadesa 12.06.09 at 10:32 pm

I’m with kibblenibble.

19 Nikki 12.06.09 at 10:45 pm

Wallaby damned! (arg someone had to say it…) The face on the momma is so precious. And the baby’s eyelashes are so long! Happy pics.

20 the bug man 12.06.09 at 10:48 pm

Confession time: the world is chock-full of animal pictures so cute they’re unfair. They’re everywhere. I could go to Google Image and be drowning in puppies and kittens and, yes, even baby wallabies. So why do I come to C.O. instead?

Answer: the captions.

In other words– Good one, Meg.

21 Gigi 12.06.09 at 11:02 pm

@ Nikky gown !!! :-)

22 Gigi 12.06.09 at 11:04 pm

Oups gown??? see what happens when your brain explode from the cute and the pun…

23 modelmotion 12.06.09 at 11:20 pm

:) :):)

24 Subhangi 12.06.09 at 11:25 pm

LMAO!

25 JohnnieCanuck 12.07.09 at 12:21 am

With those toenails, I can see why Mama insists that Joey keeps both the front and the back feet out of the pouch. Boing. OUCH. Boing. OUCH.

26 dr.lowem 12.07.09 at 12:51 am

Ooooooh mama wallaby is too cute!!!

27 Wordgirl 12.07.09 at 1:02 am

@ Nikki: I was thinking more of “Well, wallabe darned!” How cute can a smiling wallabe be anyway?

28 kar 12.07.09 at 1:19 am

Somebody needs to give Mom a full spa day. Complete with built adonis, vikings, etc, feeding her pellets and peeled grapes while she’s reclining in her mud bath after her shiatsu massage. (baby in licensed daycare of course)

29 resriechan 12.07.09 at 1:25 am

Smilin’ Jack (ok, Jill)??

umm….perhaps a “Pocket Pets” Tag?

(I know, a baby of the same family isn’t the same as a little pet in a shirt pocket, but ya know …..????) See where I’m goin’, here?

30 DaytimeDeb 12.07.09 at 1:54 am

Is there a second wallababy in the pouch? Or does wallababy have 3 ears?

Wallamama is so cute, and seems so happy to get a few treats!

31 Hear Mum Roar 12.07.09 at 3:31 am

Oh, so beautiful! I’m an Aussie, and I love roos and wallabies.

32 Blondie 12.07.09 at 4:51 am

Oh thank you! Thank you so much. Thank you…

BEEP BEEP!!!

33 Von Zeppelin 12.07.09 at 5:29 am

Didn’t know the Purina people made Wallaby Chow.

34 Rachael 12.07.09 at 5:34 am

Oh. My. God!!! I feel myself slipping into a diabetic coma from all the qte. If there’s a happier, more adorable face on the planet than that momma’s, I’ve yet to see it. *thud*

35 Bookmonstercats 12.07.09 at 5:35 am

Oh my goodness gracious me. I have only seen wallabies lounging around in zoos and have never seen one smiling before…. and the joey… thud.

36 ariel 12.07.09 at 6:19 am

so…..HAPPY!

37 Bob Dykeman 12.07.09 at 6:36 am

Watch out, Disney!

38 AJM1125 12.07.09 at 6:36 am

That is a seriously cute pair of wallabys. Seriously. Cute.

39 Alex 12.07.09 at 6:37 am

Daytime Deb: I thought that too, but on close examinayshe, I think it’s his tailio.

Because of the way this post showed up on my screen, I got a nice scrolldown surprise. First I saw Ms. Wallaby’s face, and I was like, “What on Earth kind of animal is *that*? Mouth like a guinea pig, big ears, long tail–I don’t know!” Then I scrolled down, and the marsupial surprise was revealed. I enjoyed.

40 Saffron 12.07.09 at 6:38 am

@res…heeee “pocket pets” :D :D

Cute little baybay.

41 January 12.07.09 at 7:00 am

Another great creature!

42 Holly 12.07.09 at 7:30 am

Love the smiley face in the 2nd photo, and the baby wanting in on the action, looks like there’s another in the pouch with him, so this one must be the pouch rep, looks very serious compared to mom.

43 Gledwood 12.07.09 at 7:42 am

O wow, that is a cute little swine!

44 cheshirekittehkat 12.07.09 at 7:50 am

Australian animals are so dorabuhl; and they are only found in that part of the world; how did that come about? O, I know: something about evolution, I guess; but this is a serious ‘need to know’ basis…..the xtra Qte and xtra Different, combined in such a winning combination…….. the Q&D factor….

45 Carla 12.07.09 at 8:00 am

omg, such a pretty mommy!!! omg omg omg omg omg *dead*

46 Rapwnzel 12.07.09 at 8:06 am

The captions made me chortle. I feel like they made the pictures even better.

47 Rapwnzel 12.07.09 at 8:08 am

Did anyone else read “vintage pellet” like it rhymes with ballet? Or was that intended?

48 dewicasgwent 12.07.09 at 8:14 am

Clearly this is the first human to appriciate how cute the Mom is and telling her ‘how quick she got her figure back’ and ‘of course baby is cute having you as a mom it had to be a cute baby’

49 MissKitty 12.07.09 at 8:22 am

*golf clap*

Well, you’ve done it again, CO. Once again you have outdone yourself with cuteness. I believe the secret ingredient was teh cute inside teh pouchies of another cute.

50 barbed 12.07.09 at 8:22 am

Want one!

51 Kristabelle 12.07.09 at 8:30 am

LOVE! This is so adorable!

52 TheGreatKatzini 12.07.09 at 9:09 am

walla, wallababy walla walla walla bing dong!
I mean, seriously Wallas were pretty much the first in line when the funny names were handed out.

53 Rachael 12.07.09 at 9:25 am

I was so overcome by the blissful look on mummy’s face that I failed to notice the extreme floofiness of her entire frontage. *thud*

54 Jim N 12.07.09 at 10:22 am

That level of cuteness is unpossible. It just ain’t natural.

55 J. 12.07.09 at 10:40 am

That post made me very hoppy. Thank you. Am off to grab a cup of joey.

56 Berg 12.07.09 at 10:47 am

Wallabies rock! These photos made my day, although I must admit that I am a bit sad to not have a wallaby here in the office with me…

57 Illise 12.07.09 at 11:05 am

The second pic made me smile gthe wallaby look so happy and the baby is so freaking cute

58 Paunchie 12.07.09 at 11:08 am

For meeeeee? (rising pitch)

I think dere’s two bebes in dere.

59 SparklePaw 12.07.09 at 11:30 am

I FINALLY get to see a laughing wallaby!!!

60 Leilani 12.07.09 at 11:51 am

I do believe I saw that mommy wallaby in a Disney movie…

61 Katrina 12.07.09 at 12:24 pm

Yup, that is very, very redonkulously cute. Great job, CO!

62 Brenda 12.07.09 at 12:30 pm

Will flirt for food…

63 Me 12.07.09 at 1:18 pm

It is nice to see some one appreciate food. Flirting does work.

64 Argyle Donkeypants 12.07.09 at 1:28 pm

Pouchbound minimarsupial is not happy with the fact that Mom wants to hit the hop-thru on her way to dropping the diminutive macropod off at the mall. (Although with those claws, it’ll be more like a maul.)

65 luscher 12.07.09 at 2:18 pm

squirrels with pouches …

66 5^^now8ing 12.07.09 at 2:18 pm

Wouldn’t it be just the coolest, awesome-est thing to live in colorful Oz & get to see wild walls & roos grazing at dusk, just like we see wild deer grazing here in black-n-white Kansas? I had the GREAT fortune of visiting Australia for 3 weeks in 2000 and fell absitively head-over-heels in love with the entire continent, all its animules, and all its wonderful peeps!

67 Mary (the first) 12.07.09 at 6:17 pm

I think, although I’m no expert, the extra “earsies” that seem to be in photo # 3 which would indicate another joey, are actually joey #1′s feetsies. He seems to be folded up onto himself with his nose next to his ankles. (Oh, to be that limber.)
Oh and by the way, SQUUUEEEEEEEEEEE to both wallamama.and wallababeh.

68 Queen of Dork 12.07.09 at 7:00 pm

Oh wow. Oh gosh. The little sliver of white toof in the laughing second picture. I’m getting dizzy….

69 Yukirei 12.07.09 at 7:34 pm

I was in Australia in 2002 and was lucky enough to hold a baby wallaby that was swaddled in a hemp sack, in my arms. It was one of the most snorglicious furbebbehs. Ever. It smelled good too, kind of a woodsy minty smell.

Absolutely an adorable little bugger.

70 Resriechan 12.07.09 at 8:20 pm

(gulp) OMG

(I did a funnee that made the **Poetess Laureate of CO** giggle????)

(gulp #2)

(in a pseudo-Elvis Impersonator Voice)
thanyeverrmuch

71 berthaservant 12.07.09 at 9:32 pm

That first photo is SO AWESOME w/ the behbehwalla hidin’ and the mamawalla’s expression!

72 theotherMolly 12.08.09 at 2:32 am

I think C.O. needs a new Rule of Cuteness: if you have built in pockets for your baby. . .it’s cute.

73 JME 12.08.09 at 9:04 am

There’s a MILS (mother I’d like to snorgle). Between this euphoric flyer and the sad wallaby from the animated gif, wallabies sure seem to get emotional about food.

74 almostphony 12.10.09 at 11:09 am

This is one of those rare cases when the adult is even cuter than the baby! OMG
