Disapproval at a Different Level

by Prongs on November 30, 2009

Oh my, what an – gulp – adorable bunny. Well, um, yes, I guess he does look like Clark Gable…though that’s not the first name that comes to mind. Say, is he, a, um…nice…rabbit?

Keep an eye on that one, Chelsea T.

Are those lapine pince-nez shades?

2 fifthsonata 11.30.09 at 8:34 am

Monsieur Bun looks like a cotton ball on legs!

3 chanpon 11.30.09 at 8:38 am

Sad, sad bunny. Even his ears are disapproving.

4 tyro 11.30.09 at 8:43 am

Looks like Bun-Bun, the bunny bully from Sluggy Freelance

5 Elisha B. 11.30.09 at 8:47 am

Yes, Poland should be VERY worried……..one look from this one and it’s all over ;)

6 the bug man 11.30.09 at 8:48 am

If you squint at him right, he looks like a panda with unusually long ears.

7 Lerrinus 11.30.09 at 8:49 am

And the Prongster is at it again! Nice one, Prongs! Whisker City! :-)

8 N. Fritz 11.30.09 at 8:52 am

reminds me of a Greek tragedy mask. Tiresias from Oedipus Rex (1957)

9 MissKitty 11.30.09 at 8:54 am

He’s all ear <3 … and otherwise perfectly egg-shape.
Sooo cute. *faints*

10 mimzysmom 11.30.09 at 9:01 am

goth bun.

11 Gigi 11.30.09 at 9:03 am

Seig heil!

Heuuuu..I mean cute bunny.

[You might be remembering your Hitler mustaches wrong; this is not that. - Ed.]

12 Dave 11.30.09 at 9:06 am

If you look at his spots as eyes – he looks just like a kitten!

13 Saffron 11.30.09 at 9:13 am

Rhett disapproves! “frankly my dear, I don’t give a d*mn.”

14 julie 11.30.09 at 9:16 am

15 Katrina 11.30.09 at 9:21 am

If I was Poland, I’d always be nervous…

16 ChrisW 11.30.09 at 9:24 am

Non, mon amis! Hercule Poirot!! …….

17 Katrina 11.30.09 at 9:24 am

OH, he looks Lop-sided to me…

[ - Ed.]

18 ChrisW 11.30.09 at 9:27 am

19 Suh 11.30.09 at 9:27 am

Nothin cuter!

20 Meaghan 11.30.09 at 9:39 am

Those black spots by his nose look like a second pair of eyes.

21 Blondie 11.30.09 at 9:50 am

Looks like someone has a case of the Monday’s….

[...the Monday's what? ;) - Ed.]

22 lINDA 11.30.09 at 9:53 am

With glasses he would look like Groucho Marx.

23 nismo 11.30.09 at 9:55 am

How could something so small and cute…be so evil?

24 Szig 11.30.09 at 10:09 am

Ohh, I think if Poland gives him two giant keeses they will have nothing to worry about!

25 SparklePaw 11.30.09 at 10:17 am

Awww! He looks so sad and dejected! Someone give him some lettuce, stat!

26 Chase820 11.30.09 at 10:21 am

I think he looks like Charlie Chaplin. All he needs is a bowler hat and baggie pants.

27 Katie 11.30.09 at 10:23 am

His feet look like he stepped in a whole lot of doo-doo. I guess I’ll have to restrict my keeses to the head area :)

28 doomchild 11.30.09 at 10:26 am

That thing is alive?

29 Teeny Gozer 11.30.09 at 10:33 am

I dunno about Clark Gable… when I saw him, the first thing I thought was that he was in costume as a human skull for Halloween!

30 Mandy 11.30.09 at 11:02 am

Clark Gable? That’s the craziest story I eva’ hoid! Trust me folks, I never forget a face (but in your case I’ll be glad to make an exception).

31 shaz 11.30.09 at 11:03 am

I had trouble locating his real eyes — kept seeing the spots as eyes. This is a demonic stuffed toy. Scary!

32 kmg 11.30.09 at 11:33 am

love him!

33 Courtney 11.30.09 at 11:46 am

He looks like a killer whale in reverse, with the black “eyes” next to his nose.

34 Rooanne 11.30.09 at 11:54 am

Hoppy Bunday everyone! Um, where’ s the rest of him? It IS Bunday isn’t it?

35 Redbone 11.30.09 at 12:04 pm

Looks like something out of a Roman Dirge comic.

36 cheshirekittehkat 11.30.09 at 12:18 pm

Actually, he looks like he might have swallowed a Furby, (you know, those toys that were all the rage in the 90′s, ennyboddee rember?) Anyhow, he looks liek he rlly needez some TLC stat; C’mon babbeh Bun-bun: hop on my lap and I’ll read you some Tales of Peter Rabbit, or wutevver you prefurr, mebbee Bugs Bunny?

37 jujube 11.30.09 at 12:30 pm

@ doomchild – bwaaaa haaa haaaaaaaaa….

38 bookmonstercats 11.30.09 at 12:30 pm

@cheshirekittehcat, my children had Furbies in the 90′s …. used to scare the bejaysus out of us all in the middle of the night because they’d wake up and start talking – the Furbies, not the children. In the end, my son taped his furby’s eyes and beak shut and turned it upside down in the wardrobe because it was the only way to shut it up. One of his friends was adamant that his arrived in his Christmas stocking knowing all sorts of swearwords.

39 TrixandSam 11.30.09 at 12:43 pm

I’m confused: what does the reference to Poland mean if Prongs wasn’t referring to Herr Fuhrer’s famous mustache? (See Ed’s response to Gigi #11)

P.S. Adorable bun. I’d like to squeeze him right now.

40 apocrymouse 11.30.09 at 12:52 pm

That is one gum-drop shaped bunny.

Nom!

41 HomoDM 11.30.09 at 12:58 pm

Rorschach bun!

42 Argyle Donkeypants 11.30.09 at 1:01 pm

He’s protecting the Sub-Woofer of Caerbannog. (Disapprovingly, I might add.)

43 Alice Shortcake 11.30.09 at 1:07 pm

I had to study this pic for several seconds before I realised that it WASN’T a black-eyed kitten wearing prosthetic ears.

44 shaz 11.30.09 at 1:11 pm

Does anyone read the webcomic Gunnerkrigg? This bun reminds me of a character…

45 Opallise 11.30.09 at 1:25 pm

He kinda reminds me of Bun Bun from Sluggy Freelance. Now there is an evil bun.

46 Vicki 11.30.09 at 1:30 pm

Hey, is this Godwin’s bunny?

47 angatwork 11.30.09 at 1:31 pm

My vote is for Groucho Marx!

48 shannomo 11.30.09 at 1:32 pm

OMG. at first glace I thought those two black spots were his eyes, then I thought nooo, his eyes are up? OMG, he has ears coming out his eyes! So which is it? Its got me kinda freaked out. But either way he’s really fuzzy and cute :) .

49 beardediris 11.30.09 at 1:36 pm

Theo’s right, it looks like he’s just lowering his shades and trying to have a look around, man. It’s all copacetic. No need for Poland, or anyone, to flip their wig. ;)

50 rubber duck 11.30.09 at 1:44 pm

ARE THOSE EYES??!!

What animal is this???

51 chaosisorder 11.30.09 at 1:48 pm

I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought Furby. I thought zee spots were eyes and was a little frightened by the odd looking creature. But it’s just a disapproving bunneh – way less intimidating than Furbys (but don’t tell the bunnehs)

52 Katrina 11.30.09 at 1:54 pm

Poland is always (was always) has(d) a long history of being over run, overwhelmed, subjugated, and thoroughly trounced through the ages. It is a meta-phor for, oh,m you get the idea….yeah, in the grand scheme of things.

53 Suh 11.30.09 at 2:00 pm

Might be a Puffa lump! They do exist. I knew it.

54 Pikachu 11.30.09 at 2:29 pm

Too Cute..and a little weired.. but cute

55 caligirl 11.30.09 at 2:58 pm

kyoot bun bun! even the earsies disapprove! heheh

56 TrixandSam 11.30.09 at 3:26 pm

@Katrina: yeah, I’m right there with you about the Poland thing, being (barely) a first gen American of Polish parents.

When I saw Prong’s post, I put together the reference to the ‘stache, the question whether he’s a nice bun and the hovertext to mean that the first name Prongs thought of was, in fact, Hitler. (And before anyone thinks I’m nuffing, I’m not – I love the post!)

I just want to know if I’m missing some more subtle reference to something else, ya know?

57 Mary (the first) 11.30.09 at 3:51 pm

My first thought was the mustachios and I see ChrisW also had that thought.

58 Illise 11.30.09 at 4:03 pm

Can i ask something? where are his eyes lol

59 Rafe 11.30.09 at 4:04 pm

i think he looks kinda like the gremlins from that old movie.
don’t feed him after midnight and don’t ever get him wet!!!

60 dub1 11.30.09 at 4:15 pm

I see a reverse lemur!

61 earlybird1 11.30.09 at 4:20 pm

Look how close his feets are together! If you dipped them in ink, you could use him as a bunny stamp. Stamp, stamp, stamp!

62 resriechan 11.30.09 at 4:22 pm

The vicious facial expression on this snow white cotton puff with the SERIOUSLY smeared mascara, brings me to remember one of the very wonderfullest scenes, from one of the early Pink Panther films (w/ the also wonderful Peter Sellers) ……

Inspecteur Clouseau sees a dog while walking on the sidewalk. He asks the person next to the dog “Does your dogue baaat?”
(translation of the Clouseauism = “does your dog bite?”)

Reply: “Non”
(Clouseau reaches down to pat/ pet the “dogue”. The “dogue” responds viciously, snarls and “baats” Clouseau, after all. )

Inspecteur Clouseau: “Ah thot yew said that your dogue does not baat…”

“That’s not MY dog!”….

Signed,
And Now You Know.

63 alli 11.30.09 at 4:37 pm

Yea for egg-shaped bunnies! =D

64 Bailsabub 11.30.09 at 5:01 pm

I calls him Darth Furby!

65 Puffin 11.30.09 at 5:43 pm

What sort of bunny do we think that this is?
Is he a lop?
I personally think he is absolutely precious~

66 Queen of Dork 11.30.09 at 5:54 pm

It’s another Tribble bunny mix! I bet instead of hopping, he rolls. So cute! In a kind of scary way!

67 KittyMarthaPoo 11.30.09 at 5:54 pm

Bunn: HEY!!! Why my earz beez floppin’ so low? :0

68 Queen of Dork 11.30.09 at 5:56 pm

Earlybird1 #61: Hahahahaha! I would like a stamp like that! Stamp!!

69 Blondie 11.30.09 at 6:01 pm

@ ED – Demmit! I’m usually so good with my punctuation. Or is this where I’m supposed to say ‘bite me’? :-)

[Hmm, not sure; lemme consult the stylebook ;) - Ed.]

70 Von Zeppelin 11.30.09 at 6:09 pm

I’m thinking Frank Zappa. To the best of my knowledge, he was never a serious threat to Poland.

71 Queen of Dork 11.30.09 at 6:13 pm

I remember long ago when I was a kid, these drawing/paintings of these really sad, sad little children with gigantic eyes. They were always betrayed as kind of ragged looking and maybe sitting in alleys or something. Bun reminds me of those drawings.

72 Queen of Dork 11.30.09 at 6:15 pm

I mean portrayed. (long day)

73 bean 11.30.09 at 6:48 pm

i want to hold her(?) him(?) in my hands and giggle for a while.

74 Mariah Maloy 11.30.09 at 7:25 pm

NO! BunBun, don’t do it! Not even Baywatch is worth what you are comtemplating!

75 meggie 11.30.09 at 9:26 pm

i’m still not getting the poland reference. but he does look like a reverse killer whale, for sure!

76 cath 11.30.09 at 9:46 pm

It’s a puzzle… someone with a mustache, but not THAT guy with the mustache, who is/was particularly threatening to Poland… hmmm… maybe I have the wrong world war?

*Frantic Googling and Wikipedia-ing ensues.*

OMIGOSH Is it Gavrilo Princip? ???

77 Impatiens 11.30.09 at 9:47 pm

@ shaz Zimmy was the first person I thought of when I saw him too. I assume that’s the character you mean.

78 cath 11.30.09 at 9:59 pm

Guys, guys! GUYS!!

*breathless panting*

Click on the picture! Click it! It’s a secret door to a parallel universe!

Ok, not really, but it is a secret link to a parallel post… spooky!

I feel like I’ve just discovered Narnia.

79 DusK 11.30.09 at 11:19 pm

82 Nano's Mom 12.01.09 at 4:51 am

@TrixandSam – I’m thinking the reference was to Stalin, but actually all I saw for a long time was a very cute bun. Rorschach bun indeed.

83 Stella 12.01.09 at 5:46 am

Oh, he looks like he have a second face! Like a panda, only the colours isn’t right

84 Millichente 12.01.09 at 5:46 am

I personally thought Star Wars Stormtrooper bunny, which in my current swineflu mental state is hilarious and terrifying all at once!

85 Soraiya 12.01.09 at 6:40 am

This is indeed a disturbing bunny… how are its ears right beside its eyes?!

86 Chrissy the Curvy Catholic :-) 12.01.09 at 8:23 am

He looks like he’s ready to work as an extra (Guy Who Gets Eyes Pecked Out) in the all-bunny remake of Alfred Hitchcock’s “The Birds”.

87 mags 12.01.09 at 11:26 am

I’m with Nano and Homo. Rorschach bun. Herm.

88 Susan 12.01.09 at 1:16 pm

Tim Burton.

89 Monterri 12.01.09 at 1:32 pm

One can roll this bun around like a ball. But he might show even more disapproval (if it were possible).

90 Neopatra 12.01.09 at 2:29 pm

The poor bunny haz a sad. *sniff*

91 marian 12.01.09 at 3:01 pm

You guys are all obsessed with hitler, but I think the spots/nose combo looks like meat-two-veg, if you get my drift.

[I do get your drift, but I'm just not seeing it at all. :| - Ed.]

92 orangecrush 12.01.09 at 5:19 pm

I don’t get it… who does he look like?

93 Holly 12.01.09 at 6:12 pm

rabbits…..their evilness knows no bounds!!!

94 spb 12.01.09 at 8:47 pm

Ok, cute bun and all… but this is a real confusing post.

95 Queen of Dork 12.01.09 at 9:00 pm

spb: If you click on the picture in this post, it takes you away into the Poland post with the whole different thread! :)

96 Bumblebee 12.01.09 at 9:06 pm

OMG!! WHEN I FIrST SAW THIS IT LOOKED LIKE A PENGUIN!! I THOUGHT THE EARS WERE THE FLIPPERS AND EVERYTHIN!!AHHH

98 victorya 12.01.09 at 11:45 pm

Bumble- I thought penguin too! With the ears being it’s little flapper thingies, like a moldy penguin!

99 Lisa 12.02.09 at 5:16 am

He looks like one of those creepy kids from The Grudge.

100 Lisa 12.02.09 at 5:23 am

Oh I get it. The black spots aren’t his eyes. That makes a whole lotta difference. Rorschach bun, indeed.

101 Adam C 12.02.09 at 12:16 pm

It is Bun Bun! I could swear I can see his Block and his switchblade.

102 Affliction clothing 12.06.09 at 1:39 am

Double eyes? Awww how cute

103 luis 12.06.09 at 5:31 pm

oh so strange !

104 Sir Snorty McSneeze 12.10.09 at 2:50 pm

It’s a regular rabbit. Those black spots by his nose are just markings (not his eyes). His eyes are where they should be (the dark not-so-noticeable spots by his ears).
