Disapproval at a Different Level

Oh my, what an – gulp – adorable bunny. Well, um, yes, I guess he does look like Clark Gable…though that’s not the first name that comes to mind. Say, is he, a, um…nice…rabbit?

Keep an eye on that one, Chelsea T.

  28. doomchild says:

    That thing is alive?

  29. Teeny Gozer says:

I dunno about Clark Gable… when I saw him, the first thing I thought was that he was in costume as a human skull for Halloween!

  30. Mandy says:

Clark Gable? That’s the craziest story I eva’ hoid! Trust me folks, I never forget a face (but in your case I’ll be glad to make an exception).

  31. shaz says:

I had trouble locating his real eyes — kept seeing the spots as eyes. This is a demonic stuffed toy. Scary!

  32. kmg says:

    love him!

  33. Courtney says:

He looks like a killer whale in reverse, with the black “eyes” next to his nose.

  34. Rooanne says:

Hoppy Bunday everyone! Um, where’ s the rest of him? It IS Bunday isn’t it?

  35. Redbone says:

Looks like something out of a Roman Dirge comic.

  36. Actually, he looks like he might have swallowed a Furby, (you know, those toys that were all the rage in the 90′s, ennyboddee rember?) Anyhow, he looks liek he rlly needez some TLC stat; C’mon babbeh Bun-bun: hop on my lap and I’ll read you some Tales of Peter Rabbit, or wutevver you prefurr, mebbee Bugs Bunny?

  37. jujube says:

    @ doomchild – bwaaaa haaa haaaaaaaaa….

  38. bookmonstercats says:

@cheshirekittehcat, my children had Furbies in the 90′s …. used to scare the bejaysus out of us all in the middle of the night because they’d wake up and start talking – the Furbies, not the children. In the end, my son taped his furby’s eyes and beak shut and turned it upside down in the wardrobe because it was the only way to shut it up. One of his friends was adamant that his arrived in his Christmas stocking knowing all sorts of swearwords.

  39. TrixandSam says:

I’m confused: what does the reference to Poland mean if Prongs wasn’t referring to Herr Fuhrer’s famous mustache? (See Ed’s response to Gigi #11)

P.S. Adorable bun. I’d like to squeeze him right now.

  40. apocrymouse says:

That is one gum-drop shaped bunny.

    Nom!

  41. HomoDM says:

    Rorschach bun!

  42. Argyle Donkeypants says:

He’s protecting the Sub-Woofer of Caerbannog. (Disapprovingly, I might add.)

  43. I had to study this pic for several seconds before I realised that it WASN’T a black-eyed kitten wearing prosthetic ears.

  44. shaz says:

Does anyone read the webcomic Gunnerkrigg? This bun reminds me of a character…

  45. Opallise says:

He kinda reminds me of Bun Bun from Sluggy Freelance. Now there is an evil bun.

  46. Vicki says:

    Hey, is this Godwin’s bunny?

  47. angatwork says:

My vote is for Groucho Marx!

  48. shannomo says:

OMG. at first glace I thought those two black spots were his eyes, then I thought nooo, his eyes are up? OMG, he has ears coming out his eyes! So which is it? Its got me kinda freaked out. But either way he’s really fuzzy and cute :) .

  49. beardediris says:

Theo’s right, it looks like he’s just lowering his shades and trying to have a look around, man. It’s all copacetic. No need for Poland, or anyone, to flip their wig. ;)

  50. rubber duck says:

    ARE THOSE EYES??!!

    What animal is this???

  51. chaosisorder says:

I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought Furby. I thought zee spots were eyes and was a little frightened by the odd looking creature. But it’s just a disapproving bunneh – way less intimidating than Furbys (but don’t tell the bunnehs)

  52. Katrina says:

Poland is always (was always) has(d) a long history of being over run, overwhelmed, subjugated, and thoroughly trounced through the ages. It is a meta-phor for, oh,m you get the idea….yeah, in the grand scheme of things.

  53. Suh says:

Might be a Puffa lump! They do exist. I knew it.

  54. Pikachu says:

Too Cute..and a little weired.. but cute

  55. caligirl says:

kyoot bun bun! even the earsies disapprove! heheh

  56. TrixandSam says:

@Katrina: yeah, I’m right there with you about the Poland thing, being (barely) a first gen American of Polish parents.

When I saw Prong’s post, I put together the reference to the ‘stache, the question whether he’s a nice bun and the hovertext to mean that the first name Prongs thought of was, in fact, Hitler. (And before anyone thinks I’m nuffing, I’m not – I love the post!)

I just want to know if I’m missing some more subtle reference to something else, ya know?

  57. Mary (the first) says:

My first thought was the mustachios and I see ChrisW also had that thought.

  58. Illise says:

Can i ask something? where are his eyes lol

  59. Rafe says:

i think he looks kinda like the gremlins from that old movie.
don’t feed him after midnight and don’t ever get him wet!!!

  60. dub1 says:

    I see a reverse lemur!

  61. earlybird1 says:

Look how close his feets are together! If you dipped them in ink, you could use him as a bunny stamp. Stamp, stamp, stamp!

  62. resriechan says:

The vicious facial expression on this snow white cotton puff with the SERIOUSLY smeared mascara, brings me to remember one of the very wonderfullest scenes, from one of the early Pink Panther films (w/ the also wonderful Peter Sellers) ……

Inspecteur Clouseau sees a dog while walking on the sidewalk. He asks the person next to the dog “Does your dogue baaat?”
(translation of the Clouseauism = “does your dog bite?”)

    Reply: “Non”
(Clouseau reaches down to pat/ pet the “dogue”. The “dogue” responds viciously, snarls and “baats” Clouseau, after all. )

Inspecteur Clouseau: “Ah thot yew said that your dogue does not baat…”

    “That’s not MY dog!”….

    Signed,
    And Now You Know.

  63. alli says:

    Yea for egg-shaped bunnies! =D

    I calls him Darth Furby!

    Is he a lop?
I personally think he is absolutely precious~

  66. Queen of Dork says:

It’s another Tribble bunny mix! I bet instead of hopping, he rolls. So cute! In a kind of scary way!

  67. KittyMarthaPoo says:

Bunn: HEY!!! Why my earz beez floppin’ so low? :0

  68. Queen of Dork says:

Earlybird1 #61: Hahahahaha! I would like a stamp like that! Stamp!!

  69. Blondie says:

@ ED – Demmit! I’m usually so good with my punctuation. Or is this where I’m supposed to say ‘bite me’? :-)

[Hmm, not sure; lemme consult the stylebook ;) - Ed.]

  70. Von Zeppelin says:

I’m thinking Frank Zappa. To the best of my knowledge, he was never a serious threat to Poland.

  71. Queen of Dork says:

I remember long ago when I was a kid, these drawing/paintings of these really sad, sad little children with gigantic eyes. They were always betrayed as kind of ragged looking and maybe sitting in alleys or something. Bun reminds me of those drawings.

  72. Queen of Dork says:

    I mean portrayed. (long day)

  73. bean says:

i want to hold her(?) him(?) in my hands and giggle for a while.

  75. meggie says:

i’m still not getting the poland reference. but he does look like a reverse killer whale, for sure!

  76. cath says:

It’s a puzzle… someone with a mustache, but not THAT guy with the mustache, who is/was particularly threatening to Poland… hmmm… maybe I have the wrong world war?

    *Frantic Googling and Wikipedia-ing ensues.*

OMIGOSH Is it Gavrilo Princip? ???

  77. Impatiens says:

@ shaz Zimmy was the first person I thought of when I saw him too. I assume that’s the character you mean.

  78. cath says:

    Guys, guys! GUYS!!

    *breathless panting*

Click on the picture! Click it! It’s a secret door to a parallel universe!

Ok, not really, but it is a secret link to a parallel post… spooky!

I feel like I’ve just discovered Narnia.

  79. DusK says:

    ^O.O^

  80. Lovelei says:

  82. Nano's Mom says:

@TrixandSam – I’m thinking the reference was to Stalin, but actually all I saw for a long time was a very cute bun. Rorschach bun indeed.

  83. Stella says:

Oh, he looks like he have a second face! Like a panda, only the colours isn’t right

  84. Millichente says:

I personally thought Star Wars Stormtrooper bunny, which in my current swineflu mental state is hilarious and terrifying all at once!

  85. Soraiya says:

This is indeed a disturbing bunny… how are its ears right beside its eyes?!

  86. He looks like he’s ready to work as an extra (Guy Who Gets Eyes Pecked Out) in the all-bunny remake of Alfred Hitchcock’s “The Birds”.

  87. mags says:

I’m with Nano and Homo. Rorschach bun. Herm.

  88. Susan says:

  90. Neopatra says:

The poor bunny haz a sad. *sniff*

  91. marian says:

You guys are all obsessed with hitler, but I think the spots/nose combo looks like meat-two-veg, if you get my drift.

[I do get your drift, but I'm just not seeing it at all. :| - Ed.]

  92. orangecrush says:

I don’t get it… who does he look like?

  93. Holly says:

  94. spb says:

  102. Double eyes? Awww how cute

  103. luis says:

    oh so strange !

  104. Sir Snorty McSneeze says:

It’s a regular rabbit. Those black spots by his nose are just markings (not his eyes). His eyes are where they should be (the dark not-so-noticeable spots by his ears).
