Avast there, ye sea dogs! Just because I’ve only got one eye, ye’ve got no call ta be throwin’ me in the trash with the rest of the bilge water! That’s all I can stands, I can’t stands no more! (Now where did I put me spinach?)
Have you considered adding an eye patch and a parrot, Laura S.?

aw, now I has a sad
Yarrrr!!! bleen!
Sorry, Capt’n.. I’ve got yer spinach…. I’ll go ‘n’ jump off the ship, sir
I’m strong to the Finish Cause I eats me Spinach
I’m Popeye the sailor CAT!!!!!
Not so sad; is a happy loved healed cat. The best of a sad situation, surely?
*toot toot*
I call MAtchinks… Pink nose and ears and pink garbage can… YEs I know it’s a stretch .
Popeye Kitty! (and he lives in a garbage can. Much like Oscar).
Hyuck Hyuck Hyuck… see Url
sad…
Ok nuffers… he’s wearing a neck scarf.. A little kitty accessory. I doubt these are abusive pet parents. Either good job adopting family for taking in a special needs cat or good job cat on such an awesome wink face
Awwwwww, not sad. He looks well cared for. He has a stylish scarf on & is in a clean wastebasket. And his one eye is SO blue, it makes up for not having the other one!
He looks cute and okay to me.
Not sad at all – you can see how well loved he is. Hurray for his good hoomans.
His eye is the color of the sky on a cloudless day.
In the land of the three blind mice, the one-eyed cat is king.
It appears that this kitty has been inspired by Maru’s recent Adventures in a Garbage Can. He must be working his way up to the tall kitchen can that Maru was using for his play.
Yaarrr!
Blue eye, baby’s got blue eye…
(and he’s a happy fellow, that much is clear)
I have to agree, there’s some matchink there between that peenk nose and trashcan. (Which clashes wildly with the pelt-of-Oscar carpeting) That hankerchief reminds me of “Designing Women” where Bernice wears her Christmas tree skirt thinking it was a skirt-skirt.
Sweet little face. He deserves two eyes but it looks like he’s doing fine with one.
beautiful kitty!!
*must burst into song again*
Heeeeesss Popeye the Sailor Cat,
He lives in box with hats!
His one eye is pretty
He shops in the city,
He’s Popeye the blue-eyed Cat!!!
Please… PLEASE tell me his/her name is Winky!!!
I’m sure she’s very well cared for, it’s just that… damaged animals pull at my heart strings, for some reason. Even damaged stuffed animals.
Nice bandanna, kitteh!
I have a one-eyed pug! We named her Chihuly, after Dale Chihuly, the one-eyed glass artist
http://evilrachie.evilboy.org/animals/ChichiGreta.jpg
I shall call him Winky!!
Stunbunny beat me to it.
“I loves to go swimmin;
With bowlegged wimmin,
I’m Popeye the Sailor Maaaaaaaaaan!”
PS unutterably sweet pink nosie!
PPS [Popeye laugh] ug ug ug ug!
Theresa: Once again, you astound me.
Theresa: Please join VonZ and I at the Russian Tea Room. There will be quiche. You both must except your rewards.
[beauty queen wave]
What a stylish bandana. I haz a jealousy.
My eyesight is so bad that, when I haven’t got my specs on, I have to close one eye to read, or the page turns corners. Also, my muddy brown/green eye isn’t as pretty as this kitty’s. I know it’s not the same as the kitteh, who hasn’t got any choice about it, but I call “sympathetics”.
Reminds me of that line from Ace Ventura…. “HE FOUND…. CAPTAIN WINKY!”
He-he.
@260Oakely, that’s completely wonderful. I hereby adopt your statement as my new personal mantra. Hope you’ll allow it?
@thicktortiethintabby Use and abuse to your heart’s content. Cute avatar, btw.
He needs some kisses.
****earworm alert***
Well he’s got an eye
Of the bluest sky
As if it thought of rain
It’d hate to look into that eye
And see an ounce of pain
(Apologies and props to QoD (#15) who gave me the idea…)
(turning on CO karaoke machine)
OOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHH
Sweet kit o’ mine!!!! (EVERYBODY!!!)
Rock the Boat! (don’t rock the boat baby!)
Rock the Boat! (don’t tip the boat OVER!)
ROCK THE BOOAAAAT, OH AH OH!!!!!!!!
@260Oakely — brilliant. Just brilliant. (Golf clap.)
Blue, blue eye….I’m lost in it…*saves kitty from recycling bin and a lifetime of Oscar jokes*
Theresa, when I was a child and my father used to sing the Popeye song with the lines about swimming with bowlegged women, I always assumed that he had cleaned up the lyrics to protect the delicate ears of the young. I figured the real words referred to barenaked women. Now I’m wondering, was this just my precociously dirty mind at work?
Awwwww!! What a tewtal cutie-pie! Beautiful blue eye there!
Nothing sad here. I’ve known a number of much-loved one-eyed cats and they live perfectly normal happy kitty lives.
Using a garbage can as a Crow’s Nest ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crow%27s_nest ) is very original kitty. Too bad there are no crows up there.
This reminds me of the one-eyed cat at one of the barns I used to work at. Her name was Spud. She was all kinds of awesome.
so cuteeeeeeee with one eye two or three he will always be cute
260Oakely, you take the day!
Best…. comment…. ever.
I wish I had a jaunty neck-kerchief and a matching basket to sit in…
Really? am I the first to think of the classic tune “I’m Popeye the sailor man/I live in a garbage can”
Awww, this one reminds me of my little pirate kitty, Lucy. She had a tumor in her eyeball, so we had to get the whole thing taken out. She was still beautiful and perfectly happy, though.
ClaireZ: I just made up a whole song about that.
Re. Theresa & QoD & earworms…
(sigh)
“I am!”
(sigh)
(Note to Anybody Else: that was –I HOPE — a somewhat clever reference to the dialogue from the Annoyed White Cat w/ the Humans Doing Annoyingly Cute Things Video, from about a week ago.
Theresa & QoD: Y’all make a Big Stoopid Grin break out on my face, even when I’mTRYING to be Aloof & Dignified!!!)
Signed,
(sigh.)
matchinks for the blue blue eye and the carpet too! what a cutie!
for an amazing story about a complety blind kitteh, read Homer’s Odyssey: http://www.booksamillion.com/product/9780385343855
awesome book!
PS : Where’s Pyrit today??? Expert consultation needed, heah !!!
“Helllllloooooooo, PY-rit?????”
The leeps, people! THE PEENK LEEPS!
I just love this kitty so moishe. And anything that brings Popeye’s laugh to mind is fabulous in my book. Theresa spelled it well: ” ug ug ug ug!”
If anybody’s interested, there’s a new book out called Homer’s Odyssey about a cat who had NO eyes (had to have them removed as a kitten due to an infection) and who grew up to live a full and happy life.
Resrie: Aloof and dignified is kind of hard to do here. (PS…I got my food. Yum!)
Cats are cuter when they’re slightly mangled.
Res: The fries and ketchup are especially yum.
(waving to QoD ‘cross thishere Nation of Ours ….!!!!
Hooray for days off & munchies !!!)
Resriechan: Nom. nomnomnom. Nom nom nom! (nom). Nom nom nom. (yum) nom nom nom.
PS:
\Who lives in a wastebasket under the sea . . .?
(resigned, affectionate sigh & grin)
Adorable cat, and I bet he/she gets around just fine with only one eye. Animals adjust fairly quickly, after all.
When I was in high school, we adopted a three legged beagle who lost her leg in a car accident when she was not quite six months old. Within a few weeks she built up the necessary muscles and learned how to get around. And I can tell you: when she put her nose to the ground following a scent, not even my track star brother could keep up with her!
@ Theresa:
Are we doin’ “Octopus’ Garden”, now?
(Starts song, w/o waiting for anybody else ennyhow…)
“I’d like to be, Under the Sea
In an Octopus’ Garden, In the Shade…”
Theresa: SPONGE BOB SQUARE PANTS!
Aaaaandddd something and something exorbant is he…
(SPONGE. BOB. SQUARE. PANTS!!)
Something and something and laugh like a tree…
SPONGE BOB SQUARE PANTS,
SPONGE BOB SQUARE PANTS,
SPOOONNNGGEE BOB, SQAURE PAAANNNTTS
(tootlie toot toot toot).
@ 26, Chihuly = Brilliant!
Our neighbor has a one-eyed kitty. He’s got the best personality, just very in your face and vocal, friendly.
When one is THAT beautiful, one eye is all that’s needed!
Sweet!
I think he needs lots and lots of kisses all over his little face.
I think Popeye cat needs a kitty girlfriend named Olive Oyl
Tee heee hee!
Hmmm sailor songs…
Yo hoe Yo Hoe a Pirates Life For me
Yo Hoe Yo Hoe the pirates life for me….
That is THE MOST beepable nose I have EVER seen on a kitteh! *quivering in anticipation of beepage*
*salutes* Excuse me Cap’n. Request permission to BEEP freely sir.
aww -_-
what a wittle kittehkinz
he needs an eye patch
Metz: Beep!
Kittyadventures: Aye mate!
Hmm, I’m sure I mentioned Homer’s Odyssey before anybody else had, but then another comment snuck in before mine. Not that it’s a competition, I just hate to look as though I haven’t read the comments before posting one.
Casting for “2008 Presidential Election With Cats: The Movie!” …I think we’ve found our Sarah Palin!
“You Betcha!” (wink)
I only need one eye to see how cute that kitty is!
And the Popeye jokes are funny.
That kitteh must be renamed Seymour. Because if anyone needs to see more, it’s a one-eyed cat…..
AWW
What a cutie
It is obvious from this picture that this one- eyed kitty is well loved
@Rachel217: GROAN!
(also: Very punny!)
Your story, Berg, reminds me of my cousin’s story about a young dog that was abandoned near the oil rig site he was working at
The poor dog got hit by a big rig and had to be rushed to a vet
The entire crew paid for the operation which resulted in the removal of the dog’s left front leg which was too bad damaged to be fixed
The dog healed and was back with the crew who called him “Tripod”
GIGGLE
My cousin said the crew would tell Tripod that a big truck was being bad and Tripod would go up to that truck and bark and chomp on its mud flaps until the crew said “It is ok, Tripod. That truck has learned its lesson.” My cousin said that was one strange dog but very protected of the crew who fed it
Cute or sad tag? (Definitely heavier on the cute, tho).
260Oakely : i snorted coffee up my nose. Good work.
“I yam what I yam!” (I can’t believe someone didn’t beat me to it!)
Awww, Teresa! That’s adorable
The expression is a perfect mix of disapproval and a willingness to suck it up and provide some cheap laughs for the humans who have given him a good home. Not sad in the least.
Thanks, @260Oakely! That’s my “handsome” little boy, so sayeth the vet tech on his boarding “report card” from four years ago that I still have on my refrigerator… Ahem.
skippymom – my comment (about Homer’s Odyssye) seemed to be lost in cyberspace for awhile… I thought it wasn’t going to post at all. Wasn’t that a great book!?! I laughed… I cried…
ceejoe–thanks for the response. (hope I didn’t sound like a jerk!) I have to admit I only browsed the book, but Homer seems like a hell of a great cat. Of course, before I considered reading it at all, I had to check the end and was relieved that he doesn’t die! Long live Homer!
I have to agree with skippymom and ceejoe – a must read book would be Homer’s Odyssey – I would say that it could change opinions on special needs pets quickyl. I to laughed and cried in spots….
I seriously don’t get why I got in trouble.
*pout*
QofD, you didn’t get in trouble. When Theo removes “those” comments, he also removes the ones commenting on them. He also did that to one of mine directed at you about the one in question. Make sense?
No worries, dear.
[In a word, yes. I'd really rather un-publish these, too, but I'll make an exception. - Ed.]
skippymom: I feel a little better. But how come my innocent little comments were all MODERATED like that? *feelings very hurt*
[I wasn't trying to hurt your feelings, I was trying to clean up somebody else's mess. And to extend the metaphor, you keep walking on my freshly-mopped floor, and, well, it's slippery there. - Ed.]
QofD, that’s just how it works, I guess. Maybe Theo will explain it to you. Really, you needn’t have hurt feelings.
Thanks, skippymom.
I love that blue eye and his snazzy scarf. TOO Cute!
(@260Oakely – ha! Remind’s me of Tom Waits’ Singapore..! Love that song…)
Recently I thought I might be getting a one-eyed kitty, because I captured a stray cat with an infected eye who’d been hanging around my place (and sneaking in to eat from my cat’s bowl). I took him to the vet hoping he could be patched up and then I’d adopt him, because he seemed like a nice boy, but sadly, he was too sick and had to be put down.
Sorry to harsh the mellow, I guess I just want to say that I’m glad that after whatever adventure lost THIS cat his eye, he found a safe home with people who are kind to him (and pose him for awesome photos). Not all pussycats are so lucky, so please donate some money or food to your local animal shelter if you can.
Sarah: Okay!
Awwwww, this is making miss my wittlwe baby, Fluffy (he – hes, HE – came with that name). He’s since gone to kitty heaven, but he had issues with his one eye (not caused by anything – it just happened) so he had to have an operation to have it removed. I was soooo sad, but he was as good as new once he got used to it. Still ran around like a cute little lunatic! Kitties are very adaptable. I wish I could give him cuddles right now.
@Teresa: We used to call our beagle “Tripod,” too. I guess we weren’t as creative as we thought…
I do love this kitty’s expression. So easy to read all kinds of brave solemn cheer into it. I love me some kitties…all kitties…every kitty.
what, no hovertext? *goes into withdrawal*
OK, now it comes up. *withdrawal averted* must be my computer. Hooray!
There was a one-eyed kitty at our local shelter recently. He was a total sweetheart adn he was adopted quickly so that may be this litlle Popeye’s story! He looks well-cared for and loved–his face just has character!
The round little face, the plushy snorgable fur, the pricked happy ears, the bold forward whiskers–this little guy looks happy and healthy, and he probably doesn’t even realize he’s missing a small component. That sweet face is the countenance of a well-loved kitty!
He is Cyclops leader of the X-cats and he shoots lasers out of that eye. LASERS!
Skippymom, I read an excerpt from “Homer’s Odyssey” one day at the doctor’s office, the one that ended with her saying, “Thou wert much cat.” Choked me up. If I ever welcome a one-eyed kitteh into my life, and it’s a boy (because with a girl, this would just be awkward), he’s getting named Odin.
This ginger boy is adorable, and so spunky and sweet! He looks like he has a good home.
Got a whale of a tale to tell ya, lads
A whale of a tale or two-hoo
‘Bout the flappin’ fish and the girls I’ve loved
On night like this with the moon above
A whale of a tale and it’s all true
I swear by my tattoooooooo!
Just thought of this. Cute pirate kitteh!
My first rescue girl Betty (aka Queen of the Cativerse) came to me in my backyard one morning two months after my mom died–a dear 2 month old baby siameser with her left eye literally ripped from her skull (sparing further horrific details…) at that moment I knew I must help her…two days later back from the vet, half her face shaved and with many stitches she proceeded to climb upon the highest bookshelf in my house–and she hasn’t missed a beat since! Now approaching her 11th year…. the first of many.
We recently adopted a one eyed kitty from the ASPCA, poor little guy got hit by a car but they patched him up. He is a spunky little guy, having one eye does not slow him down a bit!
Cute overload used to show pictures of cute things with funny commentary. What happened?
Uh, did you go blind maybe, E? Or is your computer blocking the entire site?
I don’t understand your beef. MY Cute Overload is still full of cute things and funny commentary.
i second the comment about having such a beautiful blue eye, it makes up for only having one.
and GOOD JOB to all of you that adopted special needs kittehs/pets! thank you!
i guess E didn’t see the next post with the stinkin’ cute weiner doggies…!
Sweet Kitty, he’s well-loved. Now we all love him, too! It feels good, how animals and CO spread all the warm fuzzies around!
your pal, kibblenibble
PS, Theresa, your Popeye laugh reminded me of my little Conure, Scout, who passed away. He laughed EXACTLY like Popeye.
Like the kitty from The Last Unicorn! Only no peg leg.
E, the Cute comes in all shapes, sizes, colors, ages, and numbers of limbs and peepers. I feel sorry for you that you can’t see the Cute in this photo.
CUUUUTE!!! I’ve wanted a one-eyed kitty ever since I read Tom Sawyer. So far I’ve only had a three-legged one.
awwww! pirate kitty
Cute kitty ! I wanna hug the little cutie patutie !
Aw great to see him well cared for. I will babysit!
Still a beautiful creature. God loves even the imperfect!
Love the Popeye reference in the comments. TOO CUTE!!!
I have a one-eyed boy. He lost his eye in an unfortunate incident. Once the pain ended, he went on with his happy life. He is the love of my life and I am grateful he wasn’t hurt any more than he was.
We call him the prettiest blue eye boy in the whole world. (I won’t tell him about this sweet cat’s picture.)
http://www.asomewhattallgirl.com/2009/06/puddy-and-his-missing-eye.html
Here’s a link to my blue eyed boy’s story,…. thanks
Arielle OMG and the perfect song for a red headed Blue eyed Pirate Kitty!
robinv-thanks for sharing. Can learn alot from animals!
I have a one-eyed kitty too!! He was a stray and apparently lost a fight with another kitty. I was going to call him Captain Jack, but once I got him home, I found out WHY he lost his eye.
He has NO fight reaction. He loves everyone. So his name is Jack-Jack!
He gets around with no issues, but periodically gets excited and rolls over onto things that “were not there!!”. The following attack and crazies is always fun! Sometimes he also misses when attacking said objects. Then he gives me his confused look, “Mom, where is it??”
This picture belongs in a postcard soooooo cuuuuute
To Rachel217 – you said, “That kitteh must be renamed Seymour. Because if anyone needs to see more, it’s a one-eyed cat…..”
I think he should be renamed Seymour, because people need to learn to see more than just a missing eye…..
Question….can a kitty get a pinker nose than that???!!! I think NOT!! C-U-T-E!!!
Lordy, but that is a cute one. How proud is he of is pink trashcan??? Lovin him and weetle peenkness.
Ohhhhh…poor kitty….
The one blue eye warms your heart!
little sweet heart
QofD, you, m’lady are making me laugh left, right and centre. I’m full of chortles and snirks.
Someone needs to send this to Toni Morrison btw!!!
@Laura H, thank you
It was a long time ago my cousin had told me that story
@Berg
The name “Tripod” is an unique name
I only heard it from my cousin and never heard of anyone else calling their cat or dog that name
he is SO handsome! if he had both eyes, i may have to look away from his sheer handsomeness. couldn’t take it all in!
