Yep, that’s me—Sloth. The cutest of the Seven Deadly Sins.
Don’t believe me? Did you ever see an animal called a “Gluttony”? An “Envy”? (ooh, a little lower, thank you) A “Gives Away Movie Endings”? I rest my case.
Photographed in Panama by Kristine S.

Oh, that little smile just made my afternoon! What a sweet slothy baby…
aww so cute
Is dead… hope you are happy!
He looks like he is at the spa!
<3
What a sweet little smile!
(Fun fact: A wolverine used to be called a glutton. I challenge anyone to find a cuter glutton than this sloth, though…)
and the nice yummy (hopefully PC) furry stuff he/she’s lying around on, looks very very comfy.
All together, now:
Awwwwww.
Soooo…sweepy…must…beep…nose..first…zzzzzzzz
A perfect schnozzle for Nosevember, methinks.
Irresistibly beepable!
So cute… Love Love Love the little contented grin! And the lil un’s nosicle qualifies for a Nosevember pic too.
Hey, we made Cute Overload — terrific!
This adorable baby sloth is one of the many beautiful animals at Paradise Gardens Wildlife Rescue Center, in Boquete, Panama. Check them out at http://paradisegardensboquete.com/ — they do noble work, and if you ever visit Panama you shouldn’t miss this spot (or Boquete in general, which is a lovely place to relax for a few days).
No doubt about it!
awwwwww I love sloths! (they tie with manatees for my fav animals) This litle guy is ADORABLE!
I’m gonna go check out the Paradise Gardens website.
“Jack, you have debauched my sloth.”
Well, who wouldn’t?
SO PROSH!!
I am overcome with lust for sloth but my pride prevents me from kissing my monitor. I envy you for making it onto Cuteoverload, Eric. I sent them this link to the cutest baby panda video ever and they didn’t post.
I guess I am a glutton for punishment.
[GOLD STAR FOR EPIC COMMENT
- Ed.]
yes that moist nosicle is just calling out “nosevember! nosevember!”
omg thats so cuteeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Sloth is my favorite of the seven deadly sin. I commit it as often as I can and if I had this baby to cuddle, I would commit it even more often.
Love how the face in the first pic says “I’m content and everything’s right in the world”. Thanks. That’s made my world a little brighter.
The “Hewwo” really cracks me up! (first hover text)
Who’s a cute little deadly sin? You are! Yes you are!
A new rule of cuteness must be created for cases like this. You’re cute if you look like a Muppet! It could be Rule #911, cuz it’s killing me! I just want to zerbert his moist nosicle!
He looks like he’s made of felt!!! *snuggles*
I never realized sloths were so FREAKIN’ ADORABLE!
(I can’t feel my limbs)
All right.. all together now:
*beep!*
Sorry, couldn’t resist..
@J-Fab post , but I only count six. What’s the seventh?
Where are its earsies?
http://web.mac.com/artinsights1/iWeb/ParadiseGardens/Images/DSC00707.png
@Eric- i would love to visit Panama, pick me up at the airport, please.
also…what’s sloth laying on…? a llama with a zipper…?
@J-Fab: You forgot wrath!? THAT MAKES ME SO ANGRIES!!!
But then adora-sloth here makes it all better. Ahhhh…
Er, just J there, nix the “Fab.”
Awwww, it looks so floofy and happy!
@ fish eye no miko: i know for some reason the hewwo cracked me up too. so simple, but it just fits that pic perfectly
@ wend: beautifully said.
@DogEared — Sorry, don’t live in Panama (we visited in Sept. ’08), but we could meet you at O’Hare or Midway.
And I’m a little confused by the sloth-wrapping item as well — it’s not clear from our other pictures. I thought it was a blanket, but with a zipper? Perhaps a very shaggy pillowcase.
I have long held that all instances of sloths on a “Cute” oriented blog were terrible mistakes.
This guy, however..this guy’s alright.
He’s smiling!
I think the fact that we can’t see this little guy’s “claws” (along with that sweet smile on his face) help enhance the cuteness. The claws on these critters always make me cringe….
“A perfect schnozzle for Nosevember, methinks.
Irresistibly beepable!” — said Biscuithead, and I can only agree. Nosevember, for sure, and this adorable baby sloth with the anerable precious nosicle and the sweet smiley face encourages me to support Nosevember!
@Kim: I didn’t want to seem greedy.
@Lizzy: Beware the wrath of J.! (I let you guys off easy… this time.)
@Ed: Thanks for the gold star. Now about that panda post…
After her massage, Ms. Slothterton will head over to the nail salon, where she will enjoy a professional mani-pedi for 9/20 the regular price.
Frak. I meant 12/20, or 3/5.
Note to self: no math after 8 PM.
Not so cute when they get older… Jump to 0:28 for lip smacking gross cuteness
Hewwo, Mr. McSlothersons (and NOMTOM.) Thanks for brightening up my day! *boop*
What an adorable little face!! So content. I was in Panama and we came upon two sloth in the forest. They were an interesting shade of pale green on parts of their fur–evidently they move so slowly and it was the rainy season, so algae was growing on them! Among the more unusual things I have ever seen…
Holy B.E.F and snouty nose factors! That’s a cute face indeed!
This is NOT a real animal! It’s obviously one of those really expensive Steiff stuffed toys. I bet it has one of those little metal buttons in its ear.
***OFFICIAL DISCLAIMER TO ED’s & other CO readers: please forgive the space used by the following…
@ VZ:
I TRIED, REALLY I tried SO hard, to find a proof for ya about a Steiff sloth, on the I’net. The most careful resource I could locate for you is the following (I did various searches which specified Steiff’s and specifically SLOTH…not just Steiff or teddy bears…) best I can accomplish during this 24 hour period.

Based in Giengen in Southern Germany the successful German soft toy manufacturer Margarete Steiff GmbH celebrated its 125th Anniversary in 2005. Founded in 1880 the company produced its very first Steiff animal: an elephant made of felt which was supposed to be used as a pin-cushion. Being the very first soft stuffed animal, kids loved it the rest of the story is history. Today more than 8,500 different Steiff articles are available and every single one can be tracked back by the clever Steiff identification markings such as the famous button, labels and chest tags.
Peace to all– slothful & industrious alike !!!
OMG- he thinks the coat is his Mommee! So sweet!
(Fun fact: A wolverine used to be called a glutton. I challenge anyone to find a cuter glutton than this sloth, though…)
This little glutton (wolverine) is pretty darn cute:

Awwwww. Layzee bebeh.
<3 slothy faces!!!
“Hewwo” *THUD*
This sloth needs to come and live with me. We could have a wonderful friendship, just lounging all day with lots of petting, cuddles and treats. You think I could bribe the little fellow to pack a tiny suitcase and make a trip up north? I promise to meet him at the bus station!
Hey there Taryn: what the heck. You sound like such a good baby mommie, that I’LL come up North, long enough to help you pack his tiny suitcase for ya !!!
Hey there Theresa — if you’re still around & about & online as I’m writin’ this, take a minute to see my response to your asking me what seemed to be wrong …..Turns out, we’re BOTH doin’ okay & that’s a good thing!! It was over under I think the Kittens & Puppies Laundry Day Post.
Anyhow, thanks for being reciprocal to get that figured out. One of the few fully-developed items in my *skillset*, is worrying & anxiety over “should I / “should I not, have ……” & in the internet, w/o direct eye contact to perceive someone’s state of mind..
Anyhow thanks. Have a PHENOMENAL Tuesday!!
You had me at hewwo.
ahhhh. Bebeh sloth so cute! And makes a very convincing case. Maybe a “pride” of lions could be runner-up?
And hewwo to you too, Mr. McSlotherson! I would be so content to just snuggle next to that adorable smile and moist nosicle for the rest of my life. We would make the perfect slothful couple. <3
Oh, Sloth bebe, I adores ya.
Ooohh…he looks like a macaroon. I MUST ZERBERT HIM
Beep! Smooch! Snorgle! Nom!
I want to be him when I grow up.
Awwww! Hewwo, wittle swoff…
[Part of me rebels viscerally against understanding this, and yet, I do...
- Ed.]
cute .. but, *kinda* creepy. not sure why.
This was shaping up to be a miserable day and that little guy just totally made my morning. *swoon*
Hewwo…who’s hasn’t grown it’s algae yet?
OMG, he looks so happy!!!
I have returned to this photo several times since yesterday. Honestly one of my fav CO posts in ages. Something about the ratio of fuzzy forehead to beady black eyes to raspberry nosicle that embodies Formula Qte for me.
@ Ed:
“how fun it is”, to encounter someone who actually *uses* the word “viscerally” (& evidently knows its meaning, on top of that !) Hooray & hoorah for your visceral vocabulary.
[Mom was a high-school English teacher. - Ed.]
It mooooooooooooooves!
This guy is adorable, and for some reason reminds me of Kevin Pereiria’s (nude on a furry rug with carefully placed shadows) commercial for women of the web on G4. Although I think the sloth pulls it off better, sorry Kevin. I keep thinking that the sloth is like “I know I’m adorable when I lounge attractively in furry blanket, don’t even try to pretend that you don’t want to snuggle the heck outta me. I’m so fabulous.”
Link to the commercial for comparisons to sloth.

@Wend, Queen of Dork and most of the posters.
Went to the Sloth Rescue, and found this link

You might need the photo gallery afterwards
You know, I never thought sloths were particularly cute, just kind of funny-looking.
I have changed my mind.
What a sweet little smile.
I nominate him to be a fabric softener spokes-sloth. Move over, Snuggle bear.
WOW! This dude is so totally cute and fuzzy… I totally agree with the fabric softner idea–this little guy would sell a ton!
Camille – can you imagine how long the commercials would have to be if he were the SpokesSloth????
Did someone say sloth? http://www.piratemerch.com/images/sloth_loves_chunk.jpg
That is the cutest thing I have ever seen in my life.
@debg: Thank you! Best quote evar! Not a fan of nautical novels, but may have to make an exception for that one, for just that one line.
There is another cute deadly sin…
Glutton.
(Wolverine)

@AmyR: “Sloth, you’re gonna live with me now.”
I LOVE BEHBEH SLOTHS!!! MORE SLOTH POSTS, C.O.!!
that babby sloth is the most CUTES! thing I have every seen that I just want to hould it in my arms and never give it back because it is so CUTE .
“Leslie, do you take this Mr. Slothyguy to be your lawfully-wedded husband?”
“I DO I DO D**MMIT, where’s the RING already? Aren’t we done YET w/ this silly ceremony crap??”
“Just a moment, Ma’am. Now, Mr. Slothyguy, will you take Leslie (*&)&^*&^), to be your lawfully wedded Wife?……..um, can someone please tickle Mr. Slothyguy under the armpits? Didn’t the Wedding Coordinator say that that was his Tickly Place & would wake him up again?”
HIM/HER smiling makes me smile!
omg “hewwo”= best hovertext ever. i squee’d loud enough for my mother-in-law to come in and ask me if i was okay.
WHAT KIND OF ANIMAL IS THIS.. SO VERY CUTE.. IT MAKES U JUST WANT TO SNUGGLE UP TO IT.. AND GIVE IT LOTS OF GOODIES..
@Tina (CAPS LOCK off please) – it’s a sloth, just like it says.
AAAAAWWW.I love Sloths, but then I have a soft spot 4 all animals with adorable faces…like Otters..That baby sloth could give an otter a run 4 the money n cuteness:-)
…except the otter would swim away and the sloth would just hang out.
I have always thought sloths were super cute. That little guy is adorable. Looks like it’s smiling.
Question: Has Mr. Slothyguy woken up, yet??
I WANT MY WEDDIN’ RINGGGGG!!!!!!!!
Wake UP, doiupoiupq97eq0 it !!!!
Yes the baby is adorable, but I still think the adult is a kissy face too. I saw one at the zoo and fell in love. Too beautiful!
Perfect to see such a precious smile , made my bad day just all better .
i bet it would taste good for breakfast

omg. cutest thing ever. i love that smile!
In 1998, Steiff did produce a limited edition “Sloth Bear” as part of its Endangered Species series. It wasn’t a sloth, though… it was a sloth bear, which is part of the bear family. For reference: http://www.bearattack.com/ba-new1998.html
SO CUTE! I love sloths! And I don’t think they get that much less cute when they get older….
I wonder if I get bonus points for putting off my homework to look at this…
