  1. I am actually amassing something quite similar to that second pic in my own cube.

  2. Not That Mike The Other Mike says:

The second picture is evolving into a much cuter version of the “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” album cover.

  3. AuntieMame says:

Straitjacket, heck. She needs a bigger wall!

  4. kibblenibble says:

Once again, CO reassures me that I’m not alone in the world…

  5. kittensnotkids says:

i….i think i am in love with the craftsperson of photo 2. such meticulous sneep-sneeping! i do not wield scissors with such a deft, skilled hand, or else i’d start my own CO collage project RIGHT NOW.

but i admire this one. a lot.

  6. I do this. Especially around my bedroom…

  7. Bonnie Bee says:

i’m so ashamed, I just put my cute overload pic of the day in a desk drawer at work. Must decorate office walls with used day pics!! I am inspired.

  8. #2 reminds me of YAY!

  9. Cute addiction: ain’t nothing wrong with that.

  10. Dewd, a ton of you have already submitted photos tonight (Nice work, Stella F. and Bobbeh D.! You’re IN!) Thanks and keep those great submishes coming!

  11. I use the torn off days as note paper for all my customers in my shop any time I have to write something down for them. That way I spread teh cute as much as possible !

  12. Haha, I love the hovertext. “Sneep sneep sneep!” I now shall paper my cube in kitty and ham pix.

  13. The calendar from last year was the best! I had it on my desk at school and every day my students would come over to see what the picture was from the day before and to fight over who got to keep it. Every kid in my class had at least one or two pictures taped to each folder in his/her desk.

  14. I introduced my mom to Cute Overload shortly after it was launched and she was a HUGE fan. Her wall and desk at her office looked like the first and second photos.

She was killed in a tragic car crash two weeks ago. Like me, she loved animals with such a passion, and she would often call or send me emails just to say “Have you seen Cute Overload today? You HAVE to look, there’s a bunny/sheep/hedgehog/etc. pic on the front page that was made for you!”

When I went by her office last week, one of the first things I saw was the Cute Overload desk calendar I got her for Christmas last year.

The past two weeks have been non-stop and her memorial service was yesterday. This is the first chance I’ve had to check the site since she died, and this happened to be the top article. I had to leave a comment because the pics in this post reminded me so much of her and her spirit, it made me smile.

CO, thanks for bringing so much joy to my mother while she was here, and for continuing to bring joy to me and so many others. 🙂

  15. @ Violet Hefner: I am sorry to hear about your mother. But I think she had had a happy and fun filled life, with a caring daughter and a love of life

  16. my sympathies to you Violet and your family. may you be blessed with many loving memories of her. CO is my way to share fun and smiles with everyone too. its nice to know this site gives so many that extra giggle in the day. Thanks Meg and all the others! *i need a tissue*. Oh and i keep my page a days too…..

  17. Violet Hefner, my heart goes out to you and your family. May your mom’s joyful spirit remain forever in you and all who loved her.

CO is a haven for so many of us. It reaffirms my belief in a higher power on a daily basis. Plus, it’s just plain fun and you can’t beat that with a stick. 🙂

  18. Resriechan says:

Violet H: thanks for sharing with us @ CO your fond memories of your mother. You have our sincere condolences & wishes for days when it won’t hurt quite so badly.

  19. Andi from NC says:

Since space is limited, I keep a stack of the ones that catch my eye and occasionally look through them (ok, I constantly look through them) – when only the cutest will do!!

By the way, love the hovertext for pic 3!

  20. Resriechan says:

…..Qu’est-ce que c’est “Sneep-sneep”? Or “sneep sneep sneep”?
I “already done searched” both “High” and “Low” (and “Sneep”) in the CO Glossary; so I’ve completed the prerequisite resoich. Que pasa, man?or, in other words:

  21. Von Zeppelin says:

My God hold you close, Violet Hefner, and your mother also.

  22. Resriechan says:

PS: those two fluffy-lookin’ yap dogs in that there 3rd pic, they gotta
bit of a ‘tude in their statement ’bout autographs….. Now in MY DAY, fluffy dogs knew to keep their language cutesy. Guess things done changed nowadays.

(Gathers cane & spectacles & slowly makes way to the park bench to read the Obits & visit the sparrows & pigeons)

  23. Thinking of you, Violet.

  24. Resriechan, “sneep sneep sneep” is the sound of the scissors sneep-sneep-sneeping out the cute peektures. 🙂

  25. Violet, my thoughts and prayers are with you.

  26. Frakking go for it”?

CO and Battlestar Galactica intersect. Throw in a Firefly reference and I’ll be one happy dorkette.

Violet, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Your Mom sounds like a wonderful person – if there is a Heaven (and I’m convinced there is), she’s there now, wrapped in cute and joy…

  27. Violet, I, too, am finishing out this year looking daily at my father’s CO calendar. He passed away in June. He really enjoyed the days he saw and I think of him with each page I turn. My heart goes out to you for having to cope with her sudden passing, but she’s only gone to human sight. For her, life goes on.

And truly, CO is a healing place to visit!

  28. Resriechan says:

Violet, thanks for surfacing in the midst of all you’re dealing with, to show me how ridiculously i’nnerant I am, of clever vocabulary terms !!!

Of COURSE that’s what it means. Now I feel just slightly goofois.

Thanks so much & I send you peace over the Interwhatever waves.

  29. Resriechan says:

And the same peace also to Sher.

Me own da’ passed several yrs ago, but I was lightyears closer w/ him than to my mudder (in the case of our famille, SHE is the hardnose & he was the one from whom you felt valued/ respected) & he’s the one who passed so much earlier & my heart still physically hurts & occ. I still cry & our family frowns on such “over-emotionality”…..The only time I saw my dad get close to crying was when he
(a 30-yr Navy Officer/ Captain) & I carried our beloved Br. Spaniel Skipper (who helped mom herd us 5 kids with some lightheartedness while dad was on aircraft carriers & jets for months & months in a stretch) ….to the vet for the last time.

Peace to all, esp. those who understand these reflections.
RIP to those whose legacies of love we’re commemmorating here.

  30. You guys do know there’s a difference between “cute” and “psychotic,” right? (That office scares me.)

  31. OMG, that looks like my cube here at the office! I don’t keep ALL the pictures up, though. Just my favorites. Right now, there are 34 up there. 🙂

  32. Cambridge_Rat_Mom says:

    @Violet–My condolences. So sad.

  33. Violet-You have many friends here, and I’m betting that we are all praying for your well-being. My sincere condolences to you and your family. Cute really does get you through…K.

  34. Violet, my heartfelt condolences to you and your family.

  35. Meg, how you could?!? You posted that adorable puppeh with his teensy peenk tongue peeking out, but did not give us a TongueHance!! I mean look at it!! It is screaming for a closeup Mr. DeVille…

  36. doggabone says:

    @MadameX : A Firefly reference would be shiny!! 😉

  37. Hmmm… “The cute’s gonna cost you” is sooo perfect for April 15, 2011… Meg? You lissenin’ girl?

[That’d really be me, at the moment, doing the 2011 calendars. V-Day will be something special, to be sure, but I don’t know specifically what, yet. – Ed.]

  38. Yes, doggabone, so shiny!!!

I mean, I’m getting my Fillion fix via Castle, but I do miss the tightpants…

[Well, they showed up last night. “Anyway, didn’t you wear that five years ago?” 😆 – Ed.]

  39. Ha ha ha! While I’m not as crazy-with-the-calendar as some, I do pick out especially enerable images and pin them up on my cubicle wall! Just yesterday someone asked me about my “labrador puppy” from the pictures, and I had to tell him that they were from the CO calendar, and I have two large Newfies! Felt a little sheepish…. baaaaa!

  40. I haven’t hung them around my desk [yet] but a bunch of my favs are in my desk drawer. [geek alert]

  41. Actually, I do have 1 taped to my desk….May 5, 2009 {go see which one}

  42. Violet – it must still be incomprehensible that your mother is gone. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. What a lovely, happy thing you shared with her – the joy and smiles that CO brings! May that keep your heart slightly lighter as you go through these difficult days ahead.

As I mentioned before, I keep ALL the days of the calendar (both – one at home, one at the office) and use them on packages for the mail and as gift wrap. I also give the really cute kitty ones to my coworker and she puts them up in HER cube!! Share the Cute!! 🙂 I love photo 2 though – I might have to start cutting some of those animules out!! Very cool!

  43. @Violet my condolences, I grok. I lost my mom after a long illness that slowly robbed her of body and mind. Seven years later my dad died suddenly due to a catastrophic failure of his pancreas. I would be hard press to tell which way is the hardest, the sudden lost or the slow deterioration. I just wish I had CO back then to cheer me up.

  44. Kiragirl – aww, cute spaniel in a purse!

Also, I LOVE Castle. Favorite show on TV.

  45. Violet: My condolences, so sorry to hear of your loss. I hope the cute helps a little bit.

Mud Bug: I like the idea of spreading the cute.

And … everyone else… I think covering the walls seems a bit … excessive… (says the girl who checks the blog very, very frequently)…

  46. @ Violet Hugs and More hugs to you, you have my deepest sympathy… Come often to CO it was for me a real help when My own mother passed away. and it continues to be on those days when I miss her.

Also do you know what her screen name was on cute overload? did she comment?. many of us become used to seeing each others comments and come to sort of know each other. and many times wonder where some one went when they are not commenting anymore.

  47. Dear Violet:

I am so sad about your loss. Please take some comfort in these pages of darling animals and in knowing a lot of friends right here are thinking about you and praying for you. Your mom had a lot of laughs thanks to your introduction to Cute Overload, and you can be proud of that Hugs and more hugs. Becky

  48. As to the post….anyone know for sure what type of doggie the little white sweetie beside the red poodle is? What a cute overload pair they are!

  49. Yay, the first pic is me! There’s a random little space that goes off to…nowhere…between our cubes at work. It needed a little decoration! I’ve now started on the other side. And yes, it may seem insane, but it’s a good outlet for my OCD 🙂

  50. Aw, Sher, so sorry for your loss too. Losing anyone is tragic, but when you lose your last parent, you have lost your biggest, and sometimes only, fan. So sad. Bless both you and Violet and bless Cute Overload for the daily pick-me-up.

  51. Warm thoughts and condolences out to you Violet.

    and i also wonder..
what type of puppy is the white one? So cute 🙂

  52. Missed the first 20 minutes of Castle last night, so I didn’t get to see Nathan in full Mel regalia…

Thank the geek gods for Hulu, though!!!

  53. Haha. the first pic was sent in by my friend in our office- we call it the wall of cute, and whenever I am having a bad day I go and look at all the cuteness!!!

  54. Violet, I’m sorry for your loss. How neat that you were able to share the Cute with your mom.

At my last job, they did a huge redecorating project, and in the new cubicles, we were not allowed to pin up non-work-related stuff. Philistines. I will have to start a CuteCollage(tm) with the 2010 calendar.

  55. Do I smell the hints of a Cute Overload hidden object game?

  56. Would an “insane Cute Overload fan” be a Cute Overloader?

  57. we are huge CO fans in my class – i’m a teacher and we have a ‘wall of cute’ collage of cuteness that by the end of the year will cover a wall 🙂

  58. That brown puppy is a cute EXPLOSION.

  59. it’s so cute..wish i have one of that..hehee

  60. One of those dogs is fake….can you guess which one?

  61. Thanks to everyone for the wonderful condolences. Yes, cute does help get one through. Cute is always a very good thing. 🙂

@KittyAdventures, I don’t know if my mom ever commented here, but if she did, she would have been either “Marilyn Bosshart,” “Marilyn,” or “Pendragon.”

@Gigi, my dad died a slow death and Mom died suddenly. Both are equally difficult in their own ways, and also have good things about them. With Dad, I got plenty of time to say goodbye and felt a deep sense of closure. With Mom, I was grateful that she went swiftly at a time when she was still independent, able to get around, and living in a place she loved with strong community ties all around her. I know she was concerned about the time when she would lose that and have to move out of her own home and come live with me and have me feeding her and stuff. She would have hated that! She loved doing things for others, but hated anyone doing things for her. She was pretty stubborn when it came to that. And we both saw that time coming. So although on the surface her death seemed violent, it was actually peaceful. I got a message from a man who had been first on the scene, he had simply been passing, and he pulled over, went to my mother, and held her hand as he called 911. He never let go of her hand until paramedics arrived. He told her he was there, he would not leave her. So he was able to tell me that she was NOT ALONE, and she was unconscious and did not experience any pain whatsoever. That is the most precious gift anyone could have given me, the knowledge that someone was there holding her hand for me and she felt no pain. That brought great comfort, peace, and release. I wish she had posted here. You all would have loved her so much!

I want to share some Mom goodness. This is one of my favorite CO things Mom ever sent me. I love bats and took her bat-watching with me once, and as a side note I’m a volunteer at my local animal shelter and my home is overflowing with foster animals, and she send me the link to this and said, “I know you will think you NEED one of these, but no, you cannot have one! Kim [my boyfriend] would kill you if you bring one more critter into the house!” . (I hope I did that link right.) LOL

  62. Hmmm, well no, the link didn’t come out quite right (it was supposed to be the title of the CO post that linked, and the title isn’t even showing — it was “Rainforest Fluffballs”). But the sentence I wrote after that missing bit ended up linked, so hopefully you can find your way there. 🙂

  63. ah ok, i thought i was weird for saving a *few* calendar pages and pinning them on my wall at work. glad others are doing it as well!

  64. Cheer up. It WILL get better.
